Talk.
T: I couldn't resist doing this particular one shot! Spoilers for 123 upwards and, obviously, angst…also the vaguest slash leaning though it's kind of subtle! I do not own the characters nor am I a member of Clamp.

Time was running short.
It was something he had known the moment his twin had mentioned the Hunter with such bitterness and that he was desperately trying to fix.
He had, after all, tired of running away.
He could not tell Kamui this, however, not when his twin was still so very angry…
…not when he would be judged as 'delusional' should the words ever leave his mouth.
Thus he was avoiding making the statement, avoiding the matter all together if the truth be known, and thus had he made the matter so much more than it might have been.
For now he could not wait to talk to the Princess…could not wait for the hurt and the self loathing to fade…instead he was left with little choice but to press for her attention now, to open out the wounds of her hurt once again.
The arrival of more strange faces and the matter of the magician had made such an advance all but impossible, for the Princess seemed always in the company of another and this was a matter he wished to discuss exclusively with her.
She was, after all, the only one who could understand him.
Kamui had tried, of course, but his efforts had proven all but futile; his hatred of the Hunter, as well as his ignorance to the matter of heartbreak, tainting his soft words and making his comfort hollow.
It was the first time that he had felt segregated from his twin, that the loneliness hidden in the very centre of his being could not be covered by the other's warmth.
This was another thing that he could not tell the other, another thing that he would talk through with the Princess if only he could get close.
She would, after all, understand the discomfort of this matter and help him without judgment.
She would also help him to make his twin see how desperately he wished to stay upon this soil…how he wished, simply, for an end to it all.
She would prove as the greatest of allies, a patch of light in the gloom that his life had fallen into…
Yet first he would have to help her, would have to make her see that she could not let her hope go, that, somehow, everything would turn out for the best.
He would have to make her listen to his words, to comprehend their content and trust it implicitly.
He would have to become her friend…
Something that would take time…
And time was growing short.

T: Leaving it open ended in order that, should Subaru and Sakura not get a 'moment' this fic still works. R+R.
