I got up before sunrise to do my chores. I was excited, though it was the night of the show. Darren and Steve was going and I was pretty excited about it.
After getting breakfast from a cirque mate, I went to Mr. Tall's van and knocked on the door. The tall man opened the door and chuckled.
"Morning, Nyx." His coal beady eyes stared at me, having to duck his head to exit. "What can I do for you?"
"Morning, Mr. Tall," I greeted him. "Say, I was wondering...can I have my weapon please? I need to go get breakfast for ol Wolfy." What I was talking about was a short sword, given to me by one of the older performers - Cormac Limbs. His special talent was the fact he could regrow any body limbs he cuts.
Fingers, arms, legs, tongue, nose, you name it, he can regrow it. Well, one day while I was helping Evra - when he was still a Snake Boy and not the Snake Man I knew today - when Cormac called for us to his RV. I can still remember it.
Evra and I went to his RV. He told us that he had a new trick he wanted help with. It sounded crazy…
He wanted one of us to chop his head off so he could regrow it.
The both of us at first said no to that. We didn't want to be responsible for killing him by accident! Eventually I ended up drawing the short straw and had to do it. Only because Cormac reassured us that it's okay, that it'll be fine.
He hands me this short sword called a Wakizashi - typically a companion sword for the infamous katana, puts his head on the counter. Hands sweaty...I swung the sword and his head was cut cleaned off.
I thought it was due to my vampyric strength I was able to do this with ease. When his head was chopped, there was no blood from the cut, his disembodied heads rotted away like his normal body did.
But for a long time, no head regrew back.
Needless to say, Evra and I screamed and ran off to get Tall. When we came back, however, he was sitting up…
Him and his new twin head.
As an apology, him - they - given me the sword.
Scariest day of my life - well, one of them.
And how I ended up losing the sword? I was showing Nicky how to sword fight and he ended up tripping on his feet and ran his shoulder into my sword. I felt terrible for that, mortified really.
Mr. Tall looked at me. "Nyx, will I have any problems regarding to your Wakizashi?" He asked.
I shook my head. "Nope. Besides, Evra and Mara forgave me. I learned my lesson."
He stared at me before reaching into his hat and pulled out the sword. I smiled as I grabbed it from him.
"Thanks!" I hugged the sword as if my life depended on it.
"Please don't hurt anyone else in this camp or outside of it." Mr. Tall said. "Next time I hear you misuse that sword again, I shall give it to Rumbus Two Belly for him to eat for his performance."
I understood that clear threat and oblige by it. "Yes sir!"
That guy was worse than a billy goat, he can eat anything and regurgitate it back into something different! Hate to imagine this sword into a necklace.
Mr. Tall then chuckled. "Now, go do your chores."
I gave him a two finger salute before flitting off with my sword at hand.
After finishing the tiny chores like working in the costume trailer, washing some of the vehicles and finishing up decorations for the show, I took off to do my major chore.
Feeding ol' wolfy.
After telling Mr. Tall where I was going and assured that I'll be fine alone, I flitted off. Looking for any livestock, stray animals, anything fresh for the wolfman to eat. Typically they would feed the wolfman scraps and meat from the local stores but he appreciates it.
I could tell he really does.
I ended up flitting in the next town over to find a farm to raid!
Leaning against a tree to take a breath, I scanned the land before seeing a lone goat out in the field.
Small, able to carry while flitting, perfect!
The sword was for an extra layer of protection. Sure, I can just flit and knock them out with a well placed hit on the back of the head, but one may never know from day to day.
I stalked my prey for a moment before I calmly walked over to the animal.
It baaed and ate the grass as I approached him. "Easy, fella, you're gonna be coming with me." I grabbed some grass and held it up to it to get it's attention.
The black goat baaed some more before looking up at me. Tilting its head to the side out of curiosity. It's yellow vertical eyes staring into my soul, more actually at the grass. The goat walked over to her, sniffed at the grass before began eating it.
I paused a moment before I reached up and began petting it, nice and slow. "Easy there, I'm not gonna hurt you." I also noticed that there was a rope around it's neck, what was used for a leash.
My guess, the owner tried to rangle the goat, it kept escaping, tried to lasso it but didn't work.
Which also meant that the owner wasn't that far. I had to be quick.
I went to grab it when I heard a familiar sound of a gun cocking behind me.
"Don't move…"
