Chapter 6
Show Offs
After hours of interigation with the soldiers. Reiner stood in Magath's office, leaning against the wall. He felt tired as it was a long night. It was morning by the timem he had reached the office. Pieck entered the office with her crutch.
"Where's Evelyn?" Reiner asked.
"Down in the courtyard with your cousin and friends watching them train." Pieck said as she sat down. Reiner gave a nod.
"Now that we're all here. All the soldiers that captured the Island Devil have been caught." The General said.
"We sure." Zeke said.
"The leader confirmed that the last of the men were the ones that attacked Reiner's residence." The General said. Reiner sighed in relief.
"The blood tests are back. They were Eldians in Marleyan disguise." Magath said. Everyone went silent. Reiner was not a fan of the blood tests to find out if Eldians were hiding among the Marleyans. He knew Evelyn would not like it as well. "They will be imprisoned till we need them as Titans."
"One of the soldiers has his arm splintered good from when he tried to attack her in her room." Zeke said.
"She did learn from the best." Reiner said. Galliard snorted. Reiner glared at him.
"I would be interested in seeing her in hand to hand combat seeing she took some of the soldiers out." Magath said.
"I'm not fighting her." Galliard said. Magath looked at Reiner.
"How about someone that trained her. Reiner." Magath said. Reiner groaned. Not what he needed at the moment.
"You afraid, Reiner?" Galliard said.
"No." Reiner said. He got his butt already kicked by Evelyn, Eren, and Mikasa when they were in the Cadet Corps. He didn't want to embaress himself in front of his cousin and kids.
"She's injured. We sure we want her fighting?" Zeke asked.
"Evelyn broke a soldier's arm with the injury. I think she'll be fine." Pieck said.
"Then its settled." Magath said. Reiner headed for the courtyard. He found the kids around Evelyn, asking questions. Gabi stood off to the side, still uncomfortable with Evelyn there. Udo, Zofia, and Falco had took a liking to her. Evelyn was smiling down at the kids.
"I don't believe that you wre trained by Reiner and Annie. They wouldn't have trained an Island Devil." Gabi said with her arms crossed. Reiner shook his head at his cousin.
"She actually was. Annie didn't want to at first, but I convinced her. I think Evelyn one of the few Annie liked." Reiner said.
"Reiner!" Gabi yelled. She ran over and hugged her cousin. Evelyn looked up and smiled seeing Reiner. "You actually trained her?" Gabi raised an eyebrow.
"I did." Reiner said.
"Though you got your ass handed to you by my brother, Mikasa, and I during training." Evelyn said with an eyebrow raised. Galliard's laughter filled the air from the balcony. Reiner turned red.
"You actually got beaten by two girls, Mr. Braun." Falco asked.
"He did. Plus my brother." Evelyn said.
"I'm not gonna hear the end of this." Reiner grumbled as he pinched the bridge of his nose. Evelyn saw Magath, Galliard, Pieck and some soldiers standing on the balcony.
"What's going on?" Evelyn asked. Reienr sighed.
"We're suppose to show off your hand to hand combat to the kids and the others wanted to see." Reiner grumbled. Gabi's eyes widen while the other three looked excited about the idea. Evelyn's eyes widen a bit but relaxed. "Less you don't want to."
"To kick your butt again. Of course I'll take the offer." Evelyn said with a glint in her green eyes. Gabi looked worried.
"Reiner. You sure you want to do this." Gabi said with worry in her voice.
"Nah. I'll be fine." Reiner said.
"Kids. Come up here." Zeke called. The kids took one last look at the two friends. Reiner and Evelyn stood facing each other.
"Should we get a stretcher ready for one of them?" Galliard asked. Zeke and Magath shot him looks. "I meant for Reiner. You saw what she did to the soldiers."
"She won't hurt him. This is for fun. She was defending herself with the others." Pieck said.
"She's right." Zeke said. Magath nodded as he looked at the two.
"Ready?" Magath asked. The two nodded. "Begin!"
"You first." Evelyn said. Reiner came running and Evelyn side stepped him, almost making him fall. He caught himself and went to punch, but she blocked his attack. They both blocked each others attacks.
"Is Reiner holding back?" Galliard asked.
"I don't think so. They seem both equally matched." Pieck said. Magath and Zeke watched in silence as Evelyn kicked Reiner in the gut and tackled him to the ground. They rolled, trying to get the upper hand. Gabi was cheering Reiner on. Reiner pinned her down on the ground.
"Got you." Reiner said.
"YAY!" Gabi yelled, distracting Reiner. Evelyn headbutted him hard in the face causing casps as she wrapped her leg around his torso and flipped him onto his back with her straddling him with arm on his neck.
"Have you learned not to be distracted." Evelyn whispered their faces inches apart. Reiner looked into Evelyn's green eyes. He didn't realize how pretty they were till now.
"Nice one." Pieck called.
"Damn she's good." Galliard admitted. Evelyn got off Reiner and held out her hand. Reiner took it and she helped him stand up. The kids ran down and towards them.
"That was amazing." Falco said. Udo and Zofia nodded in agreement.
"Yeah. Yeah she was good, but not that good." Gabi grumbled.
"Gabi. Be nice." Udo said.
"No." Gabi said.
"Gabi. He's right. She's here to stay so try and be nice." Reiner said. Gabi stormed off.
"I don't think she'll ever like me." Evelyn said. Reiner sighed and put a hand on her shoulder.
"Just show her that she can trust you. She is a little hard headed. Least you got Falco, Zofia, and Udo that like you." Reiner said as the others came over.
"Impressive. You took out one of our good soldiers." Magath said, earning a snort from Galliard. Pieck hugged Evelyn.
"We're not gonna let Reiner forget this." Pieck whispered, earning a laugh from Evelyn.
That night. Evelyn sat on the windowsill of the living room, looking out the window. Reiner came up with a mug of tea. She took it. He went to walk away.
"Do you miss it?" Evelyn's voice called to him. He looked at her to see her looking at him. "Miss being in the Cadet Corps and being a Scout?"
"At times I do." Reiner said. Evelyn took a sip of her mug. "I miss the people that I once called friends, but you being here makes things a little easier to handle." Reiner walked away. Evelyn watched him go. Her shoulder stung. She had pulled at the stitches, but doctor said they held together. She looked out at the night sky and thought of home.
AN: Quick chapter. But least the soldiers are all captured. Till next time.
