_X_ LAST CHAPTER ENDING _X_ THIRD PERSON P.O.V.
"Well my name is Toka Yada-Bertrand, my husband John Bertrand, and our son Marsau Douglas Bertrand." Toka said to introduce her family. Then John said, "How about you come back with us and live with us too?" Norfolk poked her head from behind South Dakota and she said, "Would you really… let us?" John nodded his head and said, "Of course." and all six girls discussed it before nodding their heads. John then opened the portal and let the ship girls go first, then his family, then him behind them to close the portal.
_X_ BERTRAND MANOR _X_
John and Toka allowed Enterprise and Cleveland to reunite with the other six girls from the first universe he and his wife went to. John then said, "Okay, so what do you want to do ladies. More importantly, who do you want to adopt you?" That was when South Dakota said, "We can pick who adopts us?" John nodded his head and had the married couples walk in. John then said, "These are the people who are willing to adopt you girls, all you have to do is ask them."
The first to walk up to the married couples was Norfolk and she stopped in front of Nagisa and Akari. Kayano smiled as she patted Norfolk's head as she could tell Norfolk was nervous. The next thing anyone knew, Norfolk wrapped her arms around Kayano's waist and she and Nagisa hugged Norfolk back, meaning she made her choice. Soon the other five chose the people they wanted to get adopted by. Dunkerque also went to Nagisa and Kayano, South Dakota walked up to John and Toka, Hiroto and Hinata were approached by St. Louis. Edinburgh walked up to Yukiko and Tomohito, while Essex went to Meg and Yuma.
Later that day, John decided to charter a Boat and with Hinano and Toka on board as crew, John began to do research into reducing the Pollution levels of the Ocean, and that made Hinano very happy. Out on the Ocean, John was at the steering wheel of the Korosensei when he detected something on the ship's Radar. Looking at what was coming towards him, he saw a Familiar Torpedo Boat with a Familiar couple on the deck. As John slowed the Korosensei to a stop, the torpedo Boat came up alongside them.
"Rock, Revy! Hey you two!" John said as Toka and Hinano came to the side they pulled along. Revy replied, "Hey John! Mind if we come aboard?" and John said, "Come on board!" Later, John served the Lagoon Company some tea as they caught up. John asked Revy, "You still cutthroat as when I first met you Revy?" and she said, "Fuck yeah I am. Still an awesome leader of the Hunter Classroom?" but John shook his head and said, "Retired a while ago. I am now just a civilian." That was when Dutch said, "Shame, you were a good leader."
"My husband was one of many good leaders Dutch." Toka said before sipping her tea. Revy then said, "Wanna join the Lagoon Company?" But John shook his head and said, "I'm good with what I'm doing now Revy, thanks for the offer though." Revy nodded her head as Rock said, "At least you're doing something else to keep you occupied." John nodded his head and said, "Yeah. I'm a civilian and proud to be one."
"I respect that stand John. Good to hear it." Dutch said after drinking some beer. John nodded his head and said, "yeah." After saying goodbye to the Lagoon Company, John took the Korosensei back to the Marina to go back home. Along the way, they spotted a girl on a piece of Driftwood and picked her up to take her to the hospital.
At the hospital, Kotaro informed John, Toka, and Hinano that the girl they brought in hadn't woken up yet. John nodded his head and said, "Okay Kotaro, keep us informed on her condition." Kotaro nodded his head and said, "You got it John." John then led Toka and Hinano out of the Hospital. At TakoYummy, John treated Hinano and Toka to Tako Yaki at TakoYummy. Hinano and Toka were happy to eat at the Restaurant they own. John smiled at the sight. After eating, John, Toka, and Hinano went for a walk in the park.
"Thanks for the food John." Hinano said before kissing John's cheek. Blushing, John said, "aww shucks, anything for my Friends." Hinano smiled as Toka said, "That's my husband for ya." Then Hinano said, "Yes Toka, we all know that. I um…" Hinano then stopped, making Toka and John look at her and John asked, "What's wrong Hinano?" Hinano then said, "Well, um… I hope you both forgive me for this." Hinano then pulled John into a kiss.
John and Toka were both wided eyed as Hinano pulled away. Hinano apologized for that and John said, "Um… why?" Hinano told him, "Because you are an amazing person. The girls and I are all grateful for what you do and we were trying to show you how we appreciate you. I even told Taiga about what I was going to do and he was okay with it." Toka then said, "Okay… but… it just caught us off guard." Then John said, "yeah… it did." Hinano apologized for what she did.
"Um… no, no it's fine. Just… caught me off guard is all…" John said. Hinano nodded her head and looked like she was about to cry. John looked at Toka, and she nodded her head. John then walked over to Hinano and kissed her lips again. After pulling his lips off her lips, John said, "Don't cry Hinano, if you want to kiss me, just ask in private okay?" Hinano smiled and nodded her head and hugged John.
Back at Bertrand Manor, John was approached by Taiga when they were in the den and Taiga said, "Hey Hinano told me that she kissed you. She also said that you kissed her back." John sighed and said, "I can explain that…" But Taiga held his hand up and said, "It's okay man, she told me that she wanted to kiss you. In fact… I need you to promise me something." After John asked what the promise was, Taiga said, "If I die, take care of Hinano for me please." John nodded his head and said, "But with the tentacles in your neck, you won't need to…"
"I took them out of my neck John." Taiga said as he showed him the scars where they were. John asked Taiga why he took them out and he said, "I realized that I had a Life cheat and I know that there's no risk thanks to them. A lot of the group rethought about it… and we figured that we want to feel the adrenaline of almost dying." John was speechless until he said, "Are you guys sure…" Taiga nodded his head and gave John the list of everyone who took their tentacles out.
_X_ LATER _X_
John was watching the kids as Meg walked up to him in a pink two piece Bikini. John smiled and said, "You look sexy Hinano." Hinano smiled and said, "Thank you John. Taiga said the same thing before he left to go to his photography gig for this wedding." John smiled again and said, "He's finally putting his photography skills to good use." Then Nagisa and Kayano joined them as Nagisa said, "I'm guessing Taiga told you…" John nodded his head and said, "Yeah he did. I know you all wanted to get them in the first place, why change your mind?" Nagisa explained why they did it when Karma came running in and said, "John, Taiga's been attacked." Jumping to his feet, John ran to the Hospital to check on his friend.
_X_ KYOTO HOSPITAL _X_
John ran in and saw Kotaro speaking to a nurse and ran up to them with Hinano close behind. John asked Kotaro, "How is he Kotaro?" Kotaro sighed and said, "He's in a Medically induced Comatose State John. Whoever did it to him wanted to make sure he didn't immediately recover. 6 broken ribs, both his legs are broken, his eye was out of its socket, there's an indent in his skull, and his left lung collapsed. We're watching him… but it doesn't look good John.
"Do what you can, Kotaro." John said as he rubbed Hinano's back. John then took Hinano to get a cup of coffee. In the Hospital waiting room, John and Hinano were sipping coffee. John rubbed Hinano's back to help her relax. Hinano then said, "I hope he recovers." John told Hinano that Taiga is stubborn, he would pull through. That was when Kotaro walked in… and delivered the bad news, Taiga was gone.
John Held a crying Hinano in his arms after she was told that and she was on her knees. John looked at Kotaro and said, "You did your best Kotaro." Then Hinano said, "Can't he come back using the clones?" That was when Kotaro told them the bad news, all the clone vats were destroyed by a Virus. That was when John sighed and said, "Meaning when we die that's it, game over."
That only made Hinano cry more and John held her close to him. After Hinano said her final goodbyes for the day, John took her home so she could rest. Back at the mansion, John walked Hinano to her room, but she said, "No, Your room please John." He nodded his head and walked her to the Master Master Bedroom. In there, John made sure Hinano was comfortable, which she was and she cried herself to sleep on John.
_X_ A FEW WEEKS LATER _X_
John and the others were at the Kyoko Cemetery as they put Taiga in the ground. Hinano was still crying, and John swore he would get revenge for his friend. Back at the mansion, John grabbed his gun belt and pistol to make sure he was still as Accurate. After a few test fires, John was content with his skills. Before leaving the Manor, John was stopped by Jones who handed him a Message and the message read, "If you want me, come and get me, Shiro." After Crumpling up the note, John got in his SUV and drove to the Hunter Classroom Headquarters.
At the Headquarters, John Took back control of his old Office and began combing through videos to see Taiga's Attackers. Karma looked on in worry for his friend and called a private meeting. In the meeting room. Hiroto was the first to speak and he said, "Taiga's death must really have him going, I've only ever seen him this pissed when…" that was when Meg said, "We first lost Sone." Hiroto nodded his head and that was when Karma said, "We have to make sure he does things by the book. You all remember what he said when Ryu wanted to kill Rinka's dad."
He got a head nod from everyone there. Then Nagisa said, "Do we have any leads though?" and Karma shook his head and said, "None yet. I hope he doesn't think we're not even trying." Back with John, Rock said, "John, do you think they're not even trying?" John told Rock, "You're connected to my mind, what do you think?" That was when Creed said, "You think they're not trying Hard enough".
"Taiga was our friend, and he was killed. I wanna know who the bastards were and how Shiro's involved." John said to the two Tentacles. That was when Rock said, "Are you at least going to tell them about Shiro?" But John didn't respond as he got a license plate number for a van that the people who killed Taiga got into. John then smiled and said, "Jackpot." After writing down the license Plate number, he tracked it to a local delivery service in Kyoko. As he was about to leave, Kamra stopped him.
"Out of my way Karma." was all John said, but Karma didn't budge. John glared at him before jumping over him and ran for the exit, only to get grabbed by Nagisa and Yuma as Meg and Hiroto sedated him. Karma then said, "Ritsu…" when Ritsu appeared on the nearby TV, Karma asked her what John found and she said, "He found an Address for those who killed Taiga and was going to go kill them."
_X_ LATER _X_
John woke up and saw that he was tied up in the Anti Tentacle User Cell with Toka, Nagisa, Karma, Yuma, Meg, Kayano, Rebecca, Kasumi, Marsau, Manami, and Hiroto looking at him. John struggled to get free and he tried to call out his tentacles but couldn't. That was when Karma said, "Anti-Tentacle Tape, made by Itona to help us secure Tentacle users." John was pissed and he struggled to get free.
"I DEMAND TO BE FREED AT ONCE!" John shouted, clearly pissed. But Toka said, "I'm sorry John, but we're not." John got more pissed and began to grow in size. Karma then said, "HIT THE GAS!" Hiroto nodded his head and pressed a button, soon the cell filled with gas and John collapsed to the floor back to normal and asleep. Toka: "Sighs, Just like before." That was when Nagisa put his hand on her shoulder and said, "We have to keep him here until we bring them to justice."
"I know, it just pains me to see him change into that." Toka said looking at her sleeping husband. Later, Toka was picking up Marsau when he asked about John. Toka told him, "Daddy is working overseas and will be gone for a while." Marsau nodded his head and ran into the mansion as Nagisa walked out. Toka saw him and asked, "Did the team get them?" Nagisa looked at her and said, "They got there… but someone beat us to them. They were all slaughtered." Toka was almost sick. She then asked if John got out, but Nagisa said, "That's the thing, Ryu was watching John all day and he was out cold."
"Then who did it?" Toka asked in confusion. All Nagisa said was, "I have no clue." Toka and Nagisa then walked into the manor to discuss their next steps. When John was told what happened and asked if he had anything to do with it, he said, "No, I didn't. I've been here all tied up so it wasn't me." Meg nodded her head and said, "We figured to let you know." John nodded his head and asked to be let go. Nagisa thought about it, and decided to let him go.
_X_ BERTRAND MANOR _X_
John hugs his kids as they run to him. Worried for him, they hugged him deeply, not wanting to let him go. At dinner, John reassured the kids that he will make sure they will have happy lives, that was when Jones told John he had a phone call and when he answered it, the voice said, "Give up already John?
"Not in your dreams Shiro. We're coming for you and your followers." John said with determination in his voice. Shiro chuckled before he said, "Have fun then John. This will be your final battle. When this battle is over, you won't survive." John then told Shiro before hanging up, "Neither will you Shiro, neither will you." John then looked at the troubled Group and said, "Sorry about that." Toka walked up to him and said, "It was Shiro wasn't it?" John nodded his head, kissed her, and said, "It was sadly, excuse me." John then walked off to place a few calls.
Later, John was looking over his papers when Toka walked in and he hid the paperwork, worrying her. When she asked what he was working on, John told her that he was making sure she and the kids were looked after well if he was to die. Then Toka said, "Well good thing you got Rock and Creed with you so you won't have to worry about dying." John nodded his head as Toka hugged him close to her. Toka then said, "It's going to be okay honey." John spun around and hugged her back and said, "Thanks honey." John then kissed her deeply as he showed her that he still loved her.
At night, John was in the Master-Master bedroom when Toka walked in with Hinano. John saw them and said, "Couldn't sleep in there still?" Toka nodded her head and said, "Yeah, she still can't sleep in there, too many memories." John nodded his head and hugged her close to him as they got into the bed and he held her close to him as they all slept in the bed.
_X_ THE NEXT MORNING _X_
The next morning, John was in the den when Jones walked in and said, "Sir, Mr. Rokuro Okajima and Mrs. Rebecca Lee-Okajima are here to see you." John nodded his head and asked Jones to have him bring them into the den. After he did that, John walked up to them and said, "Rokuro, Revy, good to see you two." Rock nodded his head and said, "Same, how's Hinano?" John sighed and said, "She's… working through the pain." Revy nodded her head, sat on the couch and said, "That's understandable, he was her husband."
"Yeah, she is close to Toka and considers her a sister. So she and I have become close." John said before he asked Jones to prepare coffee for them. Rokuro then said, "Is she here?" and John said, "asleep upstairs, toka and I didn't want to wake her." Revy then said, "Okay, can I see her?" John then said, "Jones… take Mrs. Rebecca Lee-Okajima to see Mrs. Hinano." Jones nodded his head and led her to the room Hinano was in. Rokuro then asked, "You think she will recover?" John looked out the window and said, "I don't know Rokuro, I hope she does though." That was when Rokuro said, "Maybe take her out for dinner?"
"You know what… I might do that, thanks man." John said with a smile on his face. Later that day, John took Hinano out for dinner at TakoYummy and she was certainly enjoying herself as they ate dinner. That was when John realized that he began to develop feelings for the redhead bug lover. That was when Yuma walked up to them and asked, "You guys enjoying yourselves?" and Hinano said, "I know I am." John agreed with her. After dinner was a movie and after that, Hinano said, "Thank you John."
"You're welcome, Hinano, anything for a friend." John said with a smile on his face before Hinano kissed his cheek and she said, "I'm glad you're helping me John." John smiled again and as the two looked into each other's eyes, they shared a loving kiss on their lips as they held each other close. The next morning, John saw Hinano was in a better mood as she looked at him with a smile and he smiled back.
Seeing that, Toka was happy for Hinano. John was then walking into the kitchen when a bomb went off, destroying the kitchen and sending him flying backwards. After he woke up on the floor with Nagisa and Toka over him, John stood up, looked at the kitchen and asked, "Did we…" Nagisa sighed and said, "We lost the chef, Jones was knocked out." John then asked, "Do we know what the explosive was?"
"C-4, from him." Nagisa said with anger in his voice. Pissed himself, John said, "He's gone too far. Nagisa… call the others. I'm leading this mission, no questions asked." Nagisa nodded his head and said, "Wouldn't have it any other way." John smiled and said, "Good, let's get to work."
_X_ A FEW MONTHS LATER _X_
John was looking through binoculars at the last Troops of Shiro Remnant stronghold, wearing his gear. Nagisa stood next to him on his left and Agent Karasuma on his right. John then said, "We've spent months taking down T.o.S.R. Cells, this is the last stronghold. Agent Karasuma, are the teams in position?" Karasuma nodded his head and said, "They are." John then pulled out his radio and said, "All teams, begin the attack!" Soon gunshots were heard as John, Nagisa, and Karasuma got in a jeep and drove to the main entrance.
Arriving at the gunfight, Nagisa fired rounds into several Troops of Shiro Remnant goons and took them down as John used his tentacles to do the same thing. John then shouted, "PUSH FORWARD! ALL TEAMS TIGHTEN THE NOOSE! HE'S NOT GETTING AWAY!" inside the base, Shiro was approached by a Troops of Shiro Remnant soldier and said, "My lord, the enemy is beating the outer defenses." Shrio then said, "Prepare the failsafe." the Troops of Shiro Remnant soldier nodded his head and began to activate the failsafe.
Back with John and Nagisa, they entered the Facility and were taking down Troops of Shiro Remnant soldiers as they made their way to Shiro's location. John jumped forward to take a few enemies when a wall came down cutting him from Nagisa. Nagisa banged on the wall and said, "You okay?!" and John replied, "I am, find another way around! I'm going after Shiro!" Nagisa nodded his head and ran off. Nagisa sighed before turning back to find another way to Shiro.
Outside, Tomohito and Karma were back to back as they fought off the reinforcements when Karma got shot in the arm and Tomohito dragged him off to the side and started to patch the wound and Karma said, "Focus on getting to Shiro." but Tomohito said, "No way man, you need cover." Karma sighed as he fired more rounds at the attackers. That was when Itona piloted his Drone Helicopter and unloaded several rounds into the base, taking down enemy combatants.
Back with John, he was walking down a hallway assault rifle ready to shoot down anyone who crossed his path to keep him from Shiro. When he entered the control room, he took out two Troops of Shiro Remnant soldiers as he pointed his assault rifle at Shiro and he said, "It's over Shiro! Give up!" Shiro looked at him and said, "Never." John then fired a shot at Shiro, who dodged it and fired a shot at John, hitting his gun out of his hand. John then tackled Shiro and began to punch his face before Shiro kicked John off him.
John, after sliding backwards, shot his tentacles at Shiro, who blocked every strike he sent at him. John growled and threw multiple punches at Shiro, getting a few good hits in while Shiro dodged the rest and punched John backwards, allowing him to get his gun and shoot Shiro in his knees. As he walked over to Shiro, John saw Shiro press a button and he shouted, "What did you do?!" Shiro looked at him and said, "It's a gas that will kill all those who have or had Antimatter in their systems."
John gasped, called on the Radio and shouted, "EVERYONE IN THE HUNTER CLASSROOM OUT NOW!" When Nagisa asked why, John said, "Shiro's activated a gas that will kill everyone in the group with Antimatter or had Antimatter in their system!" Everyone heard that and evacuated. As John tried to open the door, he found that he couldn't. That was when Shiro said, "Once the Failsafe was activated that door stays locked." John grabbed Shiro by his lab coat and said, "HOW DO I STOP IT?!" but Shiro said, "You can't, no one can. It can be absorbed into the skin, you're dead."
"Then you're dead too!" Shouted John as he snapped Shiro's neck. John then saw a computer for the remaining Shiro Clones and had the system kill them. Soon the gas began to get in the room and John realized he was a goner. Soon Nagisa radioed, "We're out John, get out of there!" But John said into the radio as he sat on the floor, "Can't get out. Shiro rigged the door to stay shut when the gas was released. I'm not getting out of this one."
_X_ OUTSIDE THE BASE _X_
Silence filled the air as they took in what John said. Toka began to cry as she begged her husband to find a way, but John said, "I have Toka. There isn't any way out. I'm sorry honey. I love you honey and Marsau. You guys have been my family in Japan and I'm grateful I've gotten to known you all." Hinano also began to cry as Nagisa tried to go back in but Karma stopped him, saying, "you heard him Nagisa, the Gas will kill us if we go back in there." Nagisa struggled to get free as he shouted, "We need to get John out of there! JOHN! LET ME GO KAMRA!" But Karma didn't as Tomohito ran to help keep Nagisa outside while Meg and Rio held Hinano and Toka back from running in themselves.
_X_ BACK IN THE BASE _X_
John sat on the floor as the gas filled the room slowly working it's way down. Rock and Creed were saying their goodbyes to John when a portal opened up under John and he fell through it. When he landed on a bed, he saw Young John and Toka looking at him with Young John holding the Portal gun. John then asked, "Hey Young me… how…?" and Young John said, "Call it a gut feeling. So I asked Itona to modify the Portal gun to open a Portal nearby to a person from a different Universe. Didn't think you would be on your back."
"Well I was trying to keep myself from dying from a gas that can kill anyone that has or had Antimatter in their system so… yeah." said John as he got up. That was when Young Yuma and Meg walked in. Young Meg Hugged John and said, "Good to see you again." John smiled and said, "Likewise, how's Hadet?" and Young Yuma said, "She's good, she's in high school now." John smiled and said, "Good for her. Well I better get home." Young John nodded his head and opened a portal to John's home and he walked through it with Young Meg and Yuma deciding to pay that world a visit, along with Young John and Toka.
_X_ JOHN'S UNIVERSE _X_
"JOHN!" Was all Toka and Hinano said as they hugged him tightly when they saw him walk out of the portal. Nagisa bro hugged John and said, "You scared us." That was when John said, "Young John saved my life." Young John waved at the group with Young Yuma, and Meg. Yuma, Toka, and Meg walked over to them and the girls as the Yumas shook hands. Young John then asked, "So am I the only one who sees Older Hinano clinging onto Older me a bit too much?"
"Well… Taiga was killed by people hired by Shiro." John said to the younger group. The girls then walked over to Hinano and hugged her in sympathy. Young John and Yuma patted her shoulders. Hinano smiled and thanked them all for their Sympathy. Hinano then said, "John's been a Big help for me to recover since losing him." Young John raised an eyebrow and John saw that and said, "Not in that way man." Young John chuckled before he said, "Yeah, sure." John chuckled before kissing Toka.
Later that day, John treated the four younger bounty Hunters to food at TakoYummy when Toka brought Marsau for the universal visitors to see him. Young John said, "Hey Marsau, how have you been?" Marsau held a thumbs up to Young John and said, "Good young daddy." Young John chuckled and ruffled his hair as Young Toka smiled as she ate the food. John then said, "So how's the food guys?" Young Yuma smiled and said, "Good, This universe's version of me made this?" and Yuma nodded his head and said, "Yup, made specifically for you guys." Young Meg smiled as she ate her Honey mustard coated TakoYaki. John smiled as he held Toka and Marsau in his arms.
