Chapter 1

Edit: So this is rewritten version.

Note: The updates will take time.

I am taking some things from Tri.

I do own some of the OCs that will appear later on and also some of the digimon designs. I intend to use all ten legendary spirits and have created designs for four extra spirits. This is my first story so there can possibly be many spelling and grammar mistakes.

Disclaimer: I don't own digimon or anything related to it.

In no sense of the word was Taichi Yagami, an absent-minded guy. Though he regularly ended up dozing off in some of his classes: that didn't mean he lacked attention and would usually end up staring into the sky, lost in his thoughts. It just so happened that it was the same day from two years ago. That one funny cloud, reminding him of Agumon, didn't help either when his teacher called him.

"Mr. Yagami! Taichi Yagami!"

"What...!" Taichi said as he was shaken out of his thoughts, and the first thing he noticed was his teacher, staring down, giving him a reproved look, "Err, sir..."

"I know my classes tend to be boring, but at least you can pretend to appreciate my efforts."

"I do. I totally do! Err, sorry about that. I was just thinking about stuff. Important stuff, you know."

"Well, I am sure stuff is more important than class, but I hope it can wait till after school."

Taichi raised his hand defensively, "It can! It totally can. Sorry!"

"Hmm, and maybe you can visit me in my office later!"

Mr. Nishijima was a young, black-haired man. Though he wasn't strict, he wouldn't just let him off without any kind of penance. Taichi sighed, "Sure!"

"And please pay attention now!" Mr. Nishijima said as he strode away, continuing his lesson.

Only if it was that easy not to think about that. Taichi fetched out his digivice. With that black screen, It appeared nothing more than just a broken toy. It had happened without any warning, unlike the first time. Taichi and his friends just lost all connections to the digiworld.

Taichi missed Agumon. No day would go by when he hadn't wished that Agumon was there, but he had long accepted the fact that this is how this was going to work if it was at all. He would meet his friend, and then they would go their separate ways. If lucky, they might meet again. Digiworld had its own way of doing things. He was just a fortunate guy who got to go there not once but twice.

All the same, he would often get worried about Agumon. Why had the connection broken? Why did the digivices stop working? Does Agumon need him? He would often ask himself these questions and drive himself mad with worry. He spent the rest of the lecture wandering the same thing until fifteen minutes were left to go for the class, and then, the last thing he expected to happen did happen.

Taichi had been rolling the digivice in the palm of his hand. His teacher was going on and on, and Taichi was trying to listen—at least, he was trying. The last thing he expected happened then.

Taichi dropped his pen under the desk and bent down picked it up. It might have taken a few seconds for Taichi to realize what he—might—have seen. He snapped his eyes to the device. Taichi gasp and did a double-take. It was just for a fleeting moment, but the screen had flashed, or at least, Taichi thought it did.

"What's up now, Yagami?" His teacher asked from his dice.

Taichi raised his eyes from the digivice and noticed the whole class staring at him as if he was some exciting chemistry experiment.

"Don't tell me you got something even more important to think about it."

"Err, no. It was just...err..." Taichi saw a bug hovering a few feet away, "Bug. It's the bug; been bugging me for quite a while."

"Well, forget the bug and stop bugging me," His teacher sighed and turned back to the lecture, and Taichi turned back to the digivice. The screen was black! Had e imagined it?

Taichi kept his eyes on the digivice for several minutes. Still, nothing happened, and his excitement and hopes were gone like the wind. It must have been light or something! Just when he was about to put it away, the screen flashed again! Taichi bit his tongue: that was all he could do to stop himself from yelling out loud. A wide grin broke across his face. He had to tell this to Koshiro after class.

But it appeared the lecture had decided to sloth on. How come more than half the lecture seemed to have passed in a flash, and the last fifteen minutes appeared to be taking eternity? Taichi must have looked more time at the clock in these fifteen minutes than he did in the previous fifteen years. On a positive note, the flashes of the screen had become more frequent. Good; now Koshiro won't be skeptical!

Somehow the lecture dragged to a close, and Taichi was running down the hallway before his desk was aware of him leaving it. He heard two familiar voices from around the corner and dashed their way. It was Sora and Yamato, "Hey, guys!" He called as he approached them, "Listen. You won't...what's up?" He asked, noticing some slips in Yamato's hand.

"Yamato wanted me to go to a concert with him," Sora replied.

Taichi's excitement was vaporized, "Of course he does!" He muttered, "Oh that reminds me. Will you come to match tomorrow, Sora?"

"Thanks for the invitation!" Yamato said in a complaining tone, arms crossed.

Taichi threw an annoyed look his way, "You too?" Wants go alone with her and looking for ruining my moment.

"What time is it?" Sora asked.

"3:00pm"

Taichi already had somewhat of an idea of what was coming up when Sora and Yamato exchanged glances, "It's the same time for the concert," Sora said.

Taichi sighed. You can't have everything!

"It is fine," Yamato said, "Sora can go with you."

"It's alright. You two go enjoy yourselves."

"We can go some other time."

"No. I will live with it. There is no need to waste those tickets."

"It's okay. I will give those to Takeru and Hikari."

"I said it is fine. You guys go!"

"Didn't I say it's alright?" Yamato said with a little more force and a glare.

Taichi shot him a glare, "And I said, it's alright."

"I..."

"Stop it!" Sora interjected, cutting off Yamato, "You guys are unbelievable," She shot both of them an incredulous look, "I can't believe what you are fighting over! It's as if both of you are trying to get rid of me. I didn't even ask to go along with anyone," Her gaze turned into a glare. "And why are you guys making decisions for me? I am perfectly capable of doing that."

"Good thing I found you guys here." It was Koshiro, "I see, these two are at it again." Sora shot a glare at Taichi and Yamato.

"Honestly, I don't know what to do with them!"

"You should have seen them a week ago. They..."

"You were looking for us?" Taichi and Yamato interjected.

Sora raised an eyebrow, "They what?"

"It's not impotent," Koshiro fetched out his digivice, reminding Taichi of the real reason he came here. Koshiro's digivice's screen was also flashing.

"Are your digivices acting itself as well?"

Taichi showed his digivice, "Yeah. That's what I actually came here for."

Yamato fetched out his digivice from his pocket while Sora from her bag: both amazed at their flashing digivices, "Do you think?" Sora asked.

"Hmm. Maybe!" Koshiro replied, "Let's go to the lab and have a look."

"And Koshiro," Sora spoke, "They what?"

If there was a single thing Takuya hated about his current life that would be it was average. Once a dimension hopper, holder of spirits of flame, and helped to save the digiworld, he was now just thirteen years old schoolboy. His life was reduced to waking up, going to school, spending long, exhausting hours there, returning, and doing homework. Honestly, after three years even he had almost given up hope of going back again.

It was a warm sunny day that year in early May. The afternoon was nothing short of average. Takuya, now thirteen, was on the receiving end of his mother's usual lecture.

This wasn't the first time Takuya had found himself in this place. It has been the norm ever since he could remember. Even before he went to digiworld, he got in trouble with her a lot but not for this particular reason. It's not like this didn't happen before, but somehow, it has become a big problem ever since he came back, and his mom didn't exactly take it well.

"It's the third time in this month!" His mom raged in fury as she paced along the width of the room, rubbing her temples. Honestly, Takuya was surprised she hadn't just burst into flames; mind you, it was possible for him a few years back.

"Isn't that an improvement from three times in a week?" Takuya flinched as she directed a fiery, piercing glare at him. She might as well have glaring actual flames—quite pathetic for the warrior of fire to use that analogy, "Sorry!"

"I can't understand. Why is it always happening?"

"He was bulling Ren!" The poor guy was quite clumsy and didn't stand up for himself. Honestly, Akane had it coming for him for quite a while now. Someone had to teach him a lesson.

"Teachers and school staff are there for a reason! Go to them!"

"You would think they have done something by now!" Her eyes narrowed further—somehow, that was possible, "I just wanted to help Ren!"

"And was it those two weeks ago!"

"No, but..."

"And a week before that or two weeks before that or...!"

"I don't get into fights that often!" She just stared at him. Finally, he averted her challenging gaze, "Alright, maybe I do!"

Since he came from the digiworld, he started getting into fights a lot more: like ten times more. They seemed to find him wherever he went. This one time, he was passing by a group of high schoolers bullying kids for the playground. Before Takuya knew it, he was involved in a mess. Another time it was two groups of junior high schoolers. He just wanted to stop them but didn't know when things went from language to fists. Koji wouldn't let him have a break. Always going on about, I always knew one day you would need asylum.

"It's not like I do that for wrong reasons!" He said, meeting her gaze

"It doesn't matter! You can't just go around fight your way through everything,"

It seemed to have worked in the digiworld most of the time.

"Mom, I am going out with my friends!" Shinya said, appearing in the doorway, "Huh, you are in trouble again. That's just like you!" He chuckled, and Takuya threw an annoyed look. Leave it to Shinya to come at the worst possible time to annoy me, "Mom, at this point, you should just record a lecture and . . . err . . . or you could just do whatever you like." She had directed her fiery glare at him.

"Come home before dinner time!"

"Err . . . sure!" He was out of the door before his feet would have realized it.

Unfortunately for Takuya, he wasn't off the hook. She wasn't particularly tall, still above him, but as he sat on the couch, she appeared to be a giantess, and those eyes could give a lion a run for his money. Once again, Takuya's mom directed her furious glare at him—her towering figure only intensified the effect. She was totally in the mood to yell at him, and she chose the worst possible topic, "What about your grades? We haven't talked about them for a while."

Takuya swallowed a lump in his throat, "About those...!" He could lie: just say they are going well? No. What is the point? It's not like she will believe me. She will just ask for a report or something.

"And your project. How is that going? Don't tell me, making Koji do most of it and spending your time on soccer?"

"Err...!"

"Takuya!" Takuya almost jumped off the couch. He was definitely spending another hour here, now, "When will you learn to take responsibility?"

He opened his mouth to say something in his defense: not even sure what he was going to say, though, "No, don't even try it!" She took a deep breath and sunk into the couch. She looked pretty exhausted. Maybe, I am a bit of a jerk, "Why can't you try to be a bit more like Shinya!"

Shinya! Suddenly, Takuya was irritated. His jaws tightened, and his hands balled into fists. He needed to get out and have a break, but he kept himself from just getting up and barging out of the house.

Takuya had to sit there for at least half an hour listening to her praising Shinya's greatness and why Takuya should take a leaf out of his book: maybe she forgot, Takuya hate books. After which, he was grounded and sent to his room to contemplate his actions.

Takuya smacked the door of his room and dropped on his bed, "What a pain! Wish I could just aboard a talking train somewhere!" But it wasn't happening. It didn't happen a couple of years back, and it probably won't happen now.

It was hard at first, but life had gone back to normal and boring after returning from the digiworld. Since his return from the digiworld, Takuya had hoped that he would be able to go back one day. It's not like he wasn't happy to see his family—he even missed Shinya— but that longing never subsided. Sometimes, when he was really pissed—like right now—he just wanted to run down to the underground trailmon station and board his way to digiworld. But the elevator had stopped going down. After a few disappointments, he and Tomoki stopped: others had given up way before. Finally, he had to accept he wasn't going back and will not see any digimon again. Maybe some other day; a faint hopeful voice would whisper in his head.

A year slugged by, digimon appeared in their world: quite a shocker for him and his friends. According to a certain someone, digimons shouldn't be able to come to their world, or they would bring chaos and destruction. It's not like the incoming digimons didn't cause destruction, but it wasn't like what Lucymon's mere presence had done. Takuya had heard how every electronic thing went berserk suddenly.

"Maybe Lucymon was just that strong." Junpei had suggested.

"Or maybe Bokomon was all talk and didn't really know how to properly read that book," Koji had suggested.

Of course, Takuya himself had come to the human world as Flamon, and nothing seemed to have happened. Takuya didn't mention this to his friends. How could he explain that he thought about just leaving them and come back? Beside the point, either of Junpei and Koji could have been right.

"It must have been millennia since we came back." Junpei had reminded them, once, "They might not even remember us."

"But we saved the digiworld, so why won't they remember us?" Izumi had asked.

"I mean, look at our world. Just after a few thousand years, there are civilizations we know nothing about. Even if we do know something, it might just be a wrong conclusion. Who knows, maybe they just remember legendary warriors and not us."

As much as Takuya hated to admit it, Junpei was right. Maybe that's why they didn't call us last time, but it's so unfair. He was probably going to be just another ordinary high schooler.

After those incidents, A few more years had passed, but digimons hadn't appeared. The desperate desire had turned into a painful longing.

As for now, after an hour of being stuck in his room, boredom started to replace irritation. He grabbed his cell phone,"Maybe, I would call Koji just to annoy him."

"What do you want?" Koji asked in a bored and uninterested tone from the other side of the line.

"Just wanted to check on you!"

"Let me guess. Your parents heard about your fight?"

"Yeah."

"Then you had to sit through a lecture?"

"It was a time right out of hell."

"You grounded?"

"Man, you are on a streak!"

"And now you are bored?"

"Wow! That's the fourth in a row. Just goes to show how well we know each other, huh!"

"For clarification, did you call just to annoy me?"

"Noooo! Whatever gave you that idea?" It was Koji's fifth correct guess. Now Takuya was getting a bit freaked out.

"I am hanging up. Call Koichi if you want someone to hear your sad tale of room arrest."

"Hey! Don't you dare hang up on me, Minamoto! Minamoto...come back...Minamoto!" It was no use. Koji had already hung up. Takuya sighed, "I could call that brother of his, but..." Koichi would listen trough his complaints but then most likely start advising him that he should try to control himself.

Luckily for him, he got to get out of his room only after, though long, a few hours. Fortunately, his mom needed some things, and since she was working on dinner, she had to send him, with a warning, of course.

"It shouldn't take more than half an hour. After that, come straight back home, or you are never leaving this house again!" She had said.

"Yeah, yeah!"

By the time Takuya was finished shopping for his mom, the sky had turned red. The sun was disappearing behind the buildings, and shadows cloaked most of the places, "What an awful day!" Takuya kicked a pebble. His eyes caught a vending machine, and suddenly he wanted to drink cola. He strolled over to the vending machine. "Well, after today, I owe myself a drink." He entered a coin, typed in code, and the whole thing seemed to have flashed for a moment. Takuya blinked, "What the..." He looked around. No one else in the market seemed to have noticed it. Am I hallucinating? "But..." It wasn't just a flash. Takuya had seen that pattern of blue and purple lines.

His drink fell down with a metallic clink. He bowed to get it, and as he straightened up, he stumbled back with a start after seeing his reflection in the glass. Well, it would have been his reflection a few years back. Blonde hair, blue eyes, three horns, and a red mask! Takuya was panting heavily.

"Hey, watch it, will you!" A man whom Takuya had stumbled into said as he strode away, saying, "Kids these days!"

Takuya took a tentative step toward the machine and observed his reflection. It was him, no doubt about it, "Great, I am hallucinating now!" He shook his head, "Koji won't let this one go if he found out." Takuya saw a small figure from the corner of his eye—most likely a kid disappearing around the corner. Something told him he was being watched. Or, I am just hallucinating about that too. Why would a Kid follow me?

It didn't appear to be a hallucination. As Takuya was heading home, he several times felt like someone was following him. Whenever he looked back, the short figure would disappear around the corner. Whoever it was, kept in shadows, so Takuya didn't see much more than a silhouette.

Fed up with constantly being pursued, he whirled around. He dashed after the figure that disappeared around the corner, "Hey, come back!" He turned. The pursuer had turned another corner. Takuya tore across the street, turned, and stopped with a skid. No one was in sight.

Takuya strolled down the road, looking around. "What was that all about? Hmm!" A cool breeze whisked past him. There was suddenly something different in the air. "Probably just my imagination." He looked overhead. A few black clouds were drifting there, "Guess it's going to rain tonight or maybe tomorrow. I should go home before mom decides to lock me up permanently." He sighed and headed back, "I wonder what's going on in digiworld?"

If Takuya had found out what was going on in the digiworld, he for sure would have been frustrated out his wits for not being able to do anything. For digiworld was about to go through the most chaotic times it his seen in perhaps millennia.

It was bright. The sky and the land had lit up with dazzling light. Though, the three moons shined brightly, they could possibly have done it. It wasn't sun either for it usually doesn't show its face there or if it had ever did it wasn't for long and it wasn't today. No! It were bright flames. They rode the air up toward the heavens and there searing heat was almost leaving nothing in the vicinity.

The earth rumbled and shuddered as resounding thuds echoed throughout vicinity. Many fragile creatures would have sprinted off or taken flight. The scarlet rocks from once magnificent tower littered the land. The celestial digimon didn't have time to worry about his tower, though. It could be rebuild if he managed to stay alive and keep digiworld in one piece, though the chances of either seemed dim even if he escaped here.

"It's futile Cherubimon!"

Cherubimon spun, flung two blades of lightning and started flying away once more, not bothering to see the result. There was a little bang, "Dammit! I don't have time for this." Which, he really didn't. He looked over his shoulder. A golden figure came blitzing and Cherubimon dived in the canyon below. Unfortunately, his body was too bright in moonlight to give him any camouflage. Loweemon, I might need a bit of help here.

This spirit of darkness responded to his call with a wasting a moment. I can help you hide but that's all I can do for you.

That's fine. I just need to get away.

Koichi will surely feel the effects though.

Almost instantly black color started spreading out from Cherubimon's forehead, up toward his head, down toward the torso and before he knew it, his body was black as if dipped in ink, with deep dark purple patches. Now the canyon and darker body would give him an easy cover.

"Where are you, you coward?"

Cherubimon was anything but a coward but he could possibly afford a battle right now. He also knew that this was out his league. It was embarrassing but it was the truth. He had to constantly remind himself not to give into his pride, though. It might be his biggest weakness.

Cherubimon flew along the canyon. It was shadowy there and patched with few bright spot. Ouryumon won't able to find him there easily.

"Come out before I take drastic measures, Cherubimon!"

He could take as drastic measure he wanted. Cherubimon was ready to take his chances. So it begin. The barrage of golden blades on the canyon. Bangs blasts and thuds of falling rocks echoed by the walls of canyon. Cherubimon wound his way through several incoming golden blades bud did not counter any.

"I see. So I can't find you like this huh, but I know you are down there somewhere!"

Cherubimon greeted his teeth. What is this overgrown lizard planning to do? Without a warning there was downpour of golden blades all around him as if the sky was raining fire. Cherubimon winding his way through the rain of burning light barely dodged some. Many he countered with lightning blade. In so much golden light his own lightning blade won't be easily seen. A bright flash as if the sun had suddenly decided to show its face there. The whole canyon was washed in blinding light. That was it for escaping. Ouryumon would see him. He glanced back. There was a golden aura around Ouryumon.

"So there you are!" Ouryumon charged.

Cherubimon watch out! Loweemon screamed in his head. Before Cherubimon knew it fire ran thought his body.

Somewhere on the other side in Tokyo a boy woke up with a start in the middle of the night. His breathing was fast and hard. Why though, he didn't know. If it was a nightmare, he didn't remember what it was about. His phone was ringing on the bedside table. Other than the occasional flashes of thunder it was the only thing illuminating room. Was it his cell phone ringing that woke him up, or the blast of thunder outside or … something else, he couldn't tell. e picked up his phone, "Takuya! AT this hour?"
