A/N: So episodes 4 and 5 of volume 8 is available for everyone on the RT website and they were both pretty good for different reasons. With episode 4, Robyn is on screen and her trying to equate her lie-detection semblance and Qrow's bad luck semblance was stupid and only reaffirms that she is one of the worst characters in the show. Also why in the hell would Weiss threaten to hurt her brother even though she knows that he can't defend himself. He is in a vulnerable emotional state right now and Weiss just forgot that her mom wanted to take care of her. However, we got a new song which was good, Oscar is finally becoming a better character, and Ren finally said what most people were thinking at this point in the show. With episode 5, Cinder lost again marking the 5th major fight she lost. The show can't be bothered to have Emerald fight outside of using her semblance, and Maria being able to fight (outside of using a machine) just only makes me wonder why she couldn't fight in volumes 6 and 7. The writers are still making Ironwood stupid by not thinking Watts would try to hack Penny, because they couldn't make someone who disagrees with team RWBY sympathetic. Also Ruby's speech was just horribly made and if the show was internally consistent the world would be in a panic. Like seriously, in universe you have 1 day left in the volume no one can or will help you. However, the cameos were nice to see, the fight scene with Penny and Cinder was cool, and despite the flaws Maria vs Neo wasn't something I expected. Penny and Pietro's interactions in this episode were very good and it's what Ruby reuniting with Penny in volume 7 should have been. Speaking of Penny, she's becoming the best character for this volume like how Ironwood was the best character for volume 7. She is the only character who seems to have a consistent internal dilemma about what is happening. Anyway, those episodes were pretty good.
RWBY: REBN – Season 1
Episode 8: New Perspectives
One day after their meeting with Ozpin, team RWBY were discussing what happened during that talk over lunch.
"No wonder Ozpin thought we were problem students, look at who was "randomly" assigned to lead us." Weiss nagged.
"Come on Weiss, not everything that has happened is Ruby's fault. You can't just keep blaming everything on one person." Yang remarked.
"You're right, Yang." Weiss seemingly agreed. "Now I can go over all of your problems."
"That's not what she…" Ruby tried to interject.
"What I see here is a hotheaded, quick-tempered, party girl who is so shallow that she rather spends time on her hair rather than on her grades." Weiss commented.
"And you, for your sake you better clean up your act. I have no time for shenanigans, next time I won't be as nice as I was before." Weiss threatened to Ruby.
As Ruby, Weiss, and Yang were talking, Blake was just eating her food and she noticed a girl with rabbit ears as Cardin and his team went to follow her.
"Look Weiss, you might not know it yet, but Yang can step up when she needs to. Besides it's not like you are perfect either." Ruby retorted as Yang smiled.
"You're one to talk." Weiss scoffed.
"Come on Weiss, I have become a lot more independent since going to Beacon. Just because I was moved up 2 years early doesn't mean that I'm not worthy of being a leader." Ruby remarked. "Yang, back me up here."
"Uh…" Yang hesitated thinking to herself.
"What are you waiting for." Ruby chastised.
"Oh, yeah! Ruby has got this all under control." Yang quickly stated.
Meanwhile, Blake was noticing the girl with rabbit ears as she was being verbally harassed by Cardin's team. Insults about her Faunus heritage came out of their mouths as Blake clenched her fist and snarled at them. "Come on Blake, they're not worth it."
"As for you Blake, even though you are better than those two you still can't manage to care about anything. Like or not you need to make an effort." Weiss lectured in a condescending tone.
"How about you drop the condescending tone and kindly fuck off." Blake thought as she left the table, ending the conversation.
Meanwhile we see team JNPR in their dorm during lunch, where Jaune and Ren were working on their project while Pyrrha and Nora were working on their own assignments.
"So what part of your family history you are going to talk about?" Jaune questioned.
"I already had something figured out, how about you?" Ren responded stoically
"Well I was considering that would talk about my great-great grandfather and his contributions to the Great War." Jaune answered.
"Okay, so the assignment requires that you must include something that happened in your own life." Ren reminded.
"Don't worry, I know what I could write about. I could talk about the first time I ever inherited my weapon." Jaune remembered.
"Good, so now you can get started." Ren commented as an uncomfortable silence came between the two as they both worked on the project.
"So what do you think of your classes so far?" Jaune commented.
"You already have Grimm Studies, World History, and Hunter Regulation with me. However, I can tell you about my Advanced Aura Training class." Ren offered.
"Oh yeah, I have that class during 1st period. The professor was kind enough to still give me a passing grade even though I can't create an Aura slash." Jaune recounted.
"Well you won't get it with that mindset, just keep trying and you will eventually get it." Ren advised.
"Sure…. I bet you already know how to do some of these techniques." Jaune stated.
"Yes, I know how to use some Aura techniques but that's not the point. The point is that with enough time and effort you will get it. I spent so much time perfecting my Aura abilities before I came to Beacon due to a long time of meticulous work and discipline." Ren explained.
"I find the best way for me to use Aura to pay attention to the internal sensations that come when using Aura abilities. When you become in tune with yourself, everything will become clear." Ren remarked.
"I'll try to remember that." Jaune stated, thinking about what Ren said.
"That's Ren for you, mysterious yet surprising down to earth." Nora commented to Jaune while Ren wasn't paying attention.
Eventually by the end of the school day, team RWBY were introduced to their mentors for the time being. A second year team named team CFVY, consisting of the same people who noticed the first year team's bickering the previous day.
"Alright ladies, playtime's over!" the girl with sunglasses ordered like a drill sergeant. "My name is Coco and they are my teammates: Fox, Velvet, and Yatsuhashi."
"We're here to kick you whippersnappers into shape and get you working like a proper team." Coco continued. "And if any of you disobey any of our orders, you… will…. be…. punished!"
"Excuse me, I…" Weiss tried to say.
"Is that backtalk I hear?! Drop and give me 20!" Coco responded sternly as Weiss went down to do push-ups.
"I don't think this is what Ozpin meant when he said that we can punish them." Velvet mentioned to Coco.
"Okay guys you can drop the scared faces; I'm just messing with you. I'm actually really chill." Coco admitted. "You can stop doing push-ups now."
"Ugh…. thank you…." Weiss said.
"We agreed it would be best for us to each of us to talk to you in pairs so we can see what we are working with in terms of issues." Fox commented.
"Anything you want to talk about will strictly confidential and no information will be disclosed to anyone outside of our team." Yatsuhashi said.
After their initial meet, each team member went off with their new mentors. Ruby went off with Coco to team CFVY's dorm room. Yang and Yatsuhashi were in the gym where Weightlifting class is normally held. Weiss and Fox went out to a bench in Beacon's courtyard that has a view of the City of Vale. Lastly, Blake and Velvet were at Beacon's gardens, tending to some of the flowers.
"So…. you want to be a better leader." Coco stated, leaning on her chair, her feet on a desk.
"More than anything." Ruby commented.
"Hmm…. I feel like I seen you from somewhere." Ruby tried to remember.
"I'm in your Shooting Range class." Coco clarified. "I'm the one with the "cool minigun" as you would put it."
"Oh yeah, it is you! You're so awesome." Ruby said in awe.
"I know I am. Now getting back to the topic at hand, how do you approach being a leader to your team?" Coco inquired.
"Well during missions I plan to take a firmer leadership role to ensure things go out as smoothly as possible." Ruby explained.
"That might work on paper, but in practice that doesn't work." Coco chastised.
"I don't understand; from all I have read…" Ruby began to say.
"See that's the problem with just reading, not all of it is applicable to real life. Anyway, being a leader is a round the clock duty no matter what." Coco corrected as she was grabbing some clothes from her closet.
"Don't get wrong being a fun good natured goof is all well and good, obviously. But you need to remember that you will always be wearing the team leader hat. Therefore, any outfit you wear must match that said hat." Coco explained putting a hat on Ruby's head and putting a jacket up to her to emphasize her point.
"Ohh, I get it." Ruby responded, understanding the metaphor.
"Really? It took me weeks to figure that out. You're on your way, kid." Coco smiled putting her hand on Ruby's shoulder.
"This is amazing!" Ruby internally screamed.
We then cut to Yang and Yatsuhashi in the gym where Yatsuhashi meditates while Yang does push-ups and talks.
"I have been with Ruby for a very long time, for as long as I can remember I saw her bright and cheery face. We grew up together, went to Signal together, and I was the first to find out that she has been accepted to Beacon at age 15. Even though we are cousins, I see her as the little sister I always wanted." Yang started to say.
"With all of that said though, I am concerned that Ruby isn't ready to be a huntress right now much less so a team leader. I remember how yesterday she was confiding in me about our unconnected team and how she is blaming herself even though she was doing her best. Earlier today, I struggled to defend her when she was being picked on by our own teammate." Yang admitted.
"Don't get me wrong, I've seen how Ruby fights, like during the initiation and during Sparring class. In that regard she is ahead of most of her peers. I am proud of her for being accepted into Beacon. I know there are several people who would want to go into a huntsman academy but can't due to outside circumstances beyond their control, and I am grateful Ruby got accepted from Professor Ozpin himself." Yang expressed while Yatsuhashi listened
"While she is there, I was hoping she would gain some new friends and that is going well. Aside from the…. one that I don't want to name, Ruby managed to get along with Blake pretty well and she also found camaraderie with team JNPR. I've also wanted her to be more independent, but honestly I don't know if I'm ready for that yet." Yang confessed, finishing her push-ups. "All my life Ruby has been my pride and joy. Every year as I see her grow older and I see eventual day that somehow or someway I will leave Ruby alone."
"Interesting, have you talked about any of this with someone?" Yatsuhashi asked.
"I've talked to my friends that I have known since Signal and they helped to the point where I can at least talk about this without yelling in their face." Yang answered.
"Interesting, how do you see yourself outside your relationship with Ruby?" Yatsuhashi questioned gently.
"Well some may see me as a loose cannon or quick tempered and that is true to an extent. As for me, I see myself as a "fun-loving", "live in the moment" type of girl." Yang answered. "But if someone messes with me or someone I care about; they will wish they were never born."
"From what you have told me it seems like you act a mother figure towards Ruby and the other members of the group. Is that correct?" Yatsuhashi remarked.
"Yes." Yang answered meekly, mentally pushing away the image of a dark haired woman as she strokes her hair.
"Here's the thing about people, they need someone that they can rely on. Even good leaders, no matter how confident they seem, need someone to keep them moving forward." Yatsuhashi revealed while also referencing his team leader.
"By fearing something that might never happen, all you have done was set up a self-fulfilling prophecy in motion that will distance you from your cousin." Yatsuhashi mentioned.
"I sure someone on my team will be happy to hear about why she should distance herself, *cough* Blake *cough*" Yang scoffed.
"To make it in this school and on the field, partners need to trust each other. You will eventually bond with as long as you're there to support each other when needed." Yatsuhashi chimed in.
"Yeah." Yang replied in deep thought.
We then cut to a flashback of a 7-year-old Yang with a 5-year-old Ruby sleeping in their room in their home on a small island. The crickets were chirping and the wind was softly blowing on the horizon. The spring leaves, dancing with the wind. Then see Ruby sound asleep when all of a sudden she started tossing and turning. Sweat was dripping down her forehead as she started mumbling… everything seemed more intense until….
"Ahhhh!" Ruby screamed as she jolted awake from her bed.
"Wha… what's going…." Yang remarked groggily.
"Yang!" Ruby shouted, tears in her eyes running towards the young blonde.
"Ruby? Ruby…" Yang realized as she felt Ruby's arms wrap around her.
"It's okay, it's okay. I'm here." Yang said, comforted Ruby.
"….. I was having a nightmare…. I saw someone…. she had a white cape…. she fell…monsters were going to eat her…. I tried to help…. I ran so hard… she wasn't there anymore… the monsters were coming for me…" Ruby explained through her sobs.
"Oh, Ruby." Yang thought to herself as she hugged Ruby tighter. "I wish there was more I can do to help her."
"Where's Dad? Where's Uncle Tai?" Ruby asked.
"They're still sleeping in their rooms, Ruby. I promise, nothing happened to them." Yang reassured in a gentle tone.
"I want this all to stop! I want all of these nightmares to end!" shouted Ruby, tears immediately coming back. "Dad and Uncle Tai are sad because of me. What do I do?! I don't want to feel this way."
"What you feeling right now is okay. even if Dad and Uncle Qrow seem upset sometimes it is not your fault. We all had a rough year and sometimes our feelings can get the best of us. I promise you this pain will not last forever You the kindest, most hopeful person I have ever met, never forget that." Yang began to tell to Ruby gently, wiping her tears as she calmed down. "I don't know how to make the nightmares stop, but I know how to make you feel better."
"How?" Ruby questioned.
"Why don't I read some of your favorite books to you." Yang suggested.
"Okay." Ruby said somewhat smiling. "But what about Dad and Uncle Tai."
"They're deep sleepers, some night reading would not wake them up." Yang remarked turning on Ruby's night light.
Dream of anything;
I'll make it all come true.
Everything you need
Is all I have for you.
I'm forever
Always by your side.
Whenever you need a friend,
Never far behind.
Yang then spent the next 1 and a ½ hours reading stories to Ruby. Fairy tales about brave adventurers on a quest to find lien and making friends along the way. To Ruby, seeing a world where everything was simpler and there was always a happily ever after was just what she needed during a time like this. Having Yang read to her with such enthusiasm and vibrancy made it feel fun.
If the stars all fall,
When there's no more light,
And the moon should crumble,
It will be alright.
Normally when the books get to some scary parts that she can't handle, Ruby would often skip those pages and make up her own version of what happened. However, with Yang around Ruby found the courage to read the more frightening parts of the books. Knowing that there was a strong source of comfort right next to her, made her feel warm and fuzzy inside.
Don't you worry about the dark,
I will light up the night with the love in my heart.
I will burn like the sun,
I will keep you safe and warm.
Like the smell of a rose on a summer's day,
I will be there to take all your fears away.
With a touch of my hand,
I will turn your life to gold.
With a touch of my hand,
I'll turn your life to gold.
By the time they finished the 8th story, Ruby was ready to go back to bed confident that she will have sweet dreams for the rest of the night. Yang was there for her in a way that Dad and Uncle Tai simply couldn't replicate. The one person who was able to make her doubts and fears more bearable. It was at that moment where Ruby started to realize how special Yang really is.
"Good night, Ruby." Yang said kissing Ruby's forehead.
"Good night Yang." Ruby responded as Yang went to her bed.
"Don't worry Ruby, I will stand by you for all our days." Yang thought while Ruby was already asleep.
Realizing her sisterly, almost motherly feelings towards Ruby, Yang fell back asleep confident in their relationship going forward.
The camera then pans over to a poster of Beacon Academy on the wall of Ruby's side of the room where the scene transitions back to the present day at Beacon. We then see team JNPR in their dorms at the end of the school day still working on their assignments while team RWBY was out. During this a notable contrast between Jaune and Ren's personalities were highlighted.
"Ren, what are you doing?" Jaune questioned, seeing Ren looking over his work.
"I'm looking it over to see everything is spaced properly, I have gone over everything in strong detail, and to see if I used correct grammar for the paper I wrote." Ren explained.
"Come on, Ren who cares about these small details. Everything's going to be fine, besides the content itself is all that truly matters to Professor Oobleck." Jaune tried to persuade.
"It might though. I rather spend time ensuring that everything is written perfectly then taking any chances." Ren remarked. "Now let me check your work."
"How about for a change of pace we could talk about the long term impact, meanings, and goals that our family had. Besides I already have a plan on how it will work out and it will be done in no time." Jaune proposed.
"Well if we look at the details efficiently and closely, it will not take that long." Ren rebuked.
"Well maybe we can find a compromise on what we could do?" Jaune noted, trying to end the conversation.
"Look Jaune, it seems like how I do things is important to you, but this is how I am and there is very little you can do to change that." Ren asserted.
"Fine, but it also come to my attention that you are a bit…." Jaune started to say.
"A bit what?" Ren commented, slightly irritated.
"You seem overly serious and robotic most of the time, while the rest of our team including myself love to be around other people but you seem… to think otherwise." Jaune tried to say.
"Whatever." Ren commented.
"What's your problem, I'm just trying to help you. Can't you see it?!" Jaune raised his voice. "If you just listen, I am sure that you…."
"See, here's your problem. You are so caught up on how people should be, yet you never bother to consider anything that isn't a part of your grand master plan." Ren chastised.
"So why haven't you said anything then? Maybe we could have worked something out so things can work for everyone." Jaune asked.
"For the sake of competent team I let all of this slide, but at this point I'm not letting this slide. There are certain things that should be done a certain way." Ren commented.
"Since you care about how things should be done, why are you not listening to me. You were relieved when I became the leader instead of you." Jaune snapped.
"That was because I thought that I can rely on someone else to make the right choices. I guess I was wrong. I can only count on myself." Ren remarked angrily.
As Jaune and Ren were arguing, Nora and Pyrrha looked at each other wondering what to say before they were both whispering to themselves.
"Wow…. somebody is selfish. I can't believe he acting like this. I mean who would just outright reject someone who was trying to help him improve as a person. And what… I didn't want to waste time on some pointless busywork?" Jaune thought to himself.
"I should have known this would be too good to be true. Unfortunately, I am stuck with him for the next four years. Just don't let it get to you, Ren and focus on your training." Ren mentally remarked.
Meanwhile we see Weiss and Fox on a bench overlooking the city of Vale. Both of them waiting for the right opportunity to start a conversation.
"Okay, I don't know what your problem is but…." Fox began to say.
"Let me just cut to the chase." Weiss interjected. "Ruby is too stupid, Yang is too lazy, and Blake is too quiet. And if you haven't figured out by now, I would make a much better leader than any of them combined."
"Hold on, that's…" Fox tried to say again.
"Forget it, you couldn't possibly understand because you're not a leader." Weiss chastised.
"Maybe not, but we all have important parts to play. It's about time you accept that." Fox remarked as the two sat in silence.
The last pair that is seen are Blake and Velvet, going into Beacon's gardens tending to the flowers while they were talking.
"So, you guys are second years. You must have learned a lot during your first year of Beacon." Blake mentioned.
"Yeah, it was definitely a new experience but it gets better." Velvet replied watering a flower.
"Your team also gets along much better than mine." Blake remarked.
"To be fair, we were just as disconnected as you guys are during our first year." Velvet debunked.
"Well you seem to be someone who has it all together personally. I don't see that in a lot of people nowadays." Blake noted, thinking of herself.
"We all have good days and bad days, but I get through it." Velvet shrugged.
"How do you do it?" Blake blurted. "Why do you put up with being bullied by Cardin even though you are a year older than him? Especially considering how he could easily be kicked out for this type of behavior."
"Oh. You must have saw what happened at lunch earlier today." Velvet replied, somewhat embarrassed.
"Cardin may be a bully but an eye for eye will make the world go blind." Velvet stated with Blake understanding the metaphor.
"Hurting him would only make him more resentful to the Faunus and I rather let him take his anger out on someone who can take it. In the meantime, I can find a way to befriend him so he'll eventually stop bullying altogether." Velvet explained.
"Does the rest of your team now that you are being bullied?" Blake asked, befuddled of why Velvet would allow this.
"Yes they do and believe me, the minute found out they were ready to help me. But I insisted that I got this under control and they trusted me." Velvet informed. "That said, it doesn't mean that I'll willing put myself in a position to be bullied but know my limits. Even if it's painful, I can deal with it."
Velvet then went over to a flower that hasn't bloomed for days, then to water it and found it blooming after being watered. "I much rather gain friends than enemies anyway and Cardin is just an extra challenge in that regard."
We see Blake wondering what to think about what Velvet said, when we cut back to team JNPR in the evening where Nora and Pyrrha were talking to Jaune and Ren respectively.
"Hey Nora." Jaune said, finding her in the student lounge
"Jaune, I've been expecting you." Nora remarked in a somewhat comical way.
"Nora you told me to meet you here in 5 minutes so we could talk." Jaune reminded.
"Okay then. I get that from the outside that Ren seems uninviting but if you just give him the chance he does warm up to people." Nora commented.
"Oh sure, like that's going to ever happen." Jaune responded sarcastically.
"How do you think he has treated me? We have been together for all of our lives and I could not ask for a better friend than him. Whenever I was sad, he would know exactly how to cheer me up. Whenever I need help with something, he would go out of his to make sure I understand something better." Nora explained as Jaune thought
"One time, this girl ended up losing a toy. It meant a lot to her." Nora started to say while looking down at the floor. "When Ren found out about it, he fought an Ursa just to get this toy back for her. You should have seen her face when she got it back."
"Ren really does care does he." Jaune stated.
"He really does." Nora commented.
"But why does he act all serious all the time. I mean I get during classes and during missions and training but still." Jaune brought up. "The team would get along better if he learns to loosen up and be more open minded."
"Are you sure that only applies to Ren?" Nora skeptically questioned.
"No." Jaune finally stated realizing that he is no better than Ren.
"We all have our different strengths and weaknesses to help complement each other. I see the brighter side of things while Ren keeps people grounded and organized. Pyrrha is the most skilled fighter but you are the one who comes with most of the plans." Nora observed. "And honestly if it weren't for Ren, I wouldn't be who I am today."
"Maybe when you see Ren again you can go talk to him." Nora requested.
"I will, thanks Nora." Jaune remarked ready to head back to his dorm.
"Between you and me, Ren has always found video games interesting but never had the time to play one." Nora remarked as Jaune was thinking.
Around the same time Pyrrha found Ren in the library, reading a book when she came up to talk to him.
"Pyrrha, did you need anything?" Ren questioned.
"No, I just thought if you wanted to talk." Pyrrha said nervously.
"Well I was in the middle of…" Ren started to say.
"I'm sorry I'll just go." Pyrrha stated embarrassed over not seeing Ren was busy.
"No wait, we can talk." Ren quickly replied.
"Okay." Pyrrha said, calming herself down.
"I understand how it feels about not wanting to change yourself for other people." Pyrrha stated. "It may seem strange coming from me the picture perfect athlete, but that was a…. learned trait rather than my natural personality."
"Yeah, I can see that." Ren said.
"However, I do think that Jaune has a point about being more social and more involved. Is there anything you want to say about that?" Pyrrha responded.
"I don't know, I should be more involved but we are coming here to learn and he could take these assignments more seriously." Ren remarked.
"Well maybe that's what he meant by making a change." Pyrrha suggested.
"I just wish Jaune wasn't so pushy, it's not he can control everything." Ren added.
"That's true, but I'm sure that he understands that now." Pyrrha commented. "But what about you?"
"Maybe we should have gone with a compromise." Ren admitted. "I should go talk to him. Thanks Pyrrha."
"You're welcome." Pyrrha said demurely.
"It was nice to talk to you. We really should hang out more." Ren stated before he left, making Pyrrha smile.
Once it was sunset, Nora and Pyrrha came back to their dorm with Jaune and Ren. The latter two of which having a lot to say after their respective encounters.
"Ren…. I'm sorry for what I said earlier, I had no right to be that stubborn." Jaune commented.
"I also want to apologize; I should have tried to be more cooperative." Ren remarked.
"Yeah but you were right though, your great the way you are and I should try to make sure all of my teammates are okay with my decisions. I'll make sure I will do that for now on." Jaune commented.
"So do you think you can take some of these assignments more seriously?" Ren questioned.
"I will." Jaune promised.
"And I'll try to not be such a stickler and try to see the bigger picture, like you suggested." Ren decided. "There is no reason to think you are not qualified to be here, even I had to work on my combat skills to be where I am today."
"Yeah, right." Jaune stated, before clenching his fists.
"So do want to keep working on our project together?" Ren asked.
"Sure." Jaune replied. And afterwards there was this cool video game I've been wanting to play. You down for that tomorrow?"
"That would be fun." Ren commented as the two went back to work.
Meanwhile at sunset, the members of team RWBY and team CFVY return to Beacon courtyard and team RWBY went their separate ways, thinking of the lessons their mentors have taught them. Then once the 1st year team left, team CFVY explained their experiences with each member of team RWBY.
"When I talked to Ruby, it was clear that despite her age and naivety she was able to pick up on what I said very quickly. She clearly wants to improve her and be a better leader for her team." Coco reported.
"Yang has also shown to me that she truly cares for her team and wants nothing but the best for them. Even if she doesn't know how to express that appropriately." Yatsuhashi remarked.
"Despite Blake not really opening up to me, I enjoyed talking to her. She has a good heart and it's nice to see someone who is willing to stand up for the Faunus. We could also use more people like her." Velvet stated with the others silently agreeing.
"Well you guys lucked out, Weiss didn't even try to cooperate. She spent all this time, complaining about her teammates. I tried to remind her about how everyone on her team has an important part to play, but I don't think she gets it." Fox lamented.
"Don't worry Fox, something tells me that she will eventually learn why she should respect her teammates." Coco reaffirmed, foreshadowing what's yet to come.
A/N: So that was team CFVY's introduction, do you think I portrayed them accurately or is there any improvements that can be made with that. Also for the next few episodes I am going to give team JNPR subplots in addition to the main plot focusing on team RWBY. The reason for this is so I can have some build up for Jaune's reveal for the midseason finale and for the Jaune Arc at the start of the second half. Yes, I am doing the infamous Jaune Arc but unlike the canon show we have already spent time with team RWBY so I think this will be justified. So if you can give me feedback on the JNPR subplot that would very appreciated. I would also appreciate feedback on how I am handling Weiss. Is she too unlikable or is she not? I am aiming for her to be unlikable until the end of the season but too much to the point of it being egregious. By far the part I am proudest of is the Ruby and Yang flashback. It takes place a year after the death of Summer Rose and Ruby would have nightmares about her as a way to show her trauma. Unlike the show, this rewrite has a timeline and dates for important events in the show. I thought the song "Gold" would be a good fit for this flashback, and it shows the start of Yang's motherly feelings towards her cousin. Switching gears, I did see episode 6 of volume 8 and all I will say is that it will give you a moment you have been waiting for. Whether you enjoy said moment or not will depend on your tolerance for the show's writing. Tune in next episode where Penny is introduced, we get more mentions about the Vytal Festival, and more information about the lore. Please be sure to leave feedback, it will help me a lot in the writing process. Until next time.
