Author's Note:Because you all asked so nicely, I finished this chapter early and decided to post it up now.Enjoy.
One year later:
For the next few years, Edward's mother, Elizabeth, kept her word.
She trained me every day, in etiquette, while Felix, her older brother, trained me in hand-to-hand combat and firearms.
I sometimes wish that the day at the park hadn't happened, if we had just gone to the place my mom wanted to go, none of this would have happened. But I can't dwell on a 'what if' because it won't do anything to change the situation I am now in.
"You need to kick harder, Bellsy. That kick won't hurt anyone's shin." Felix instructed as he showed me how to do the steps again.
I groan as I stare at the position he shows me.
"I am trying. It's hard to kick this thing.". I muttered as I tried to mimic what he had done.
"Have you been practicing?" He asked me, with a raised brow.
I threw him a dirty look before kicking the mannequin with all of my strength, watching as it flew back, hitting the ground with a loud thud.
"Well done, Bellsy. Tomorrow I will be using knives again, so bring a long-sleeved shirt." He instructed as I went to pull on my sneakers and coat.
It had been cloudy for the past week, as he led me back into the massive house, I stared up at the blackening sky for a moment before a loud sound was heard, causing me to jump and rush forward to Felix, who chuckled at my response.
"That is not funny," I muttered frowning as he walked through the hallway.
"Of course not. I just remembered a joke I heard from the boys the other day. Want to hear it?" He asked, smiling.
"Okay," I said, shrugging.
"Why can't the dinosaur clap his hands?" He asked me, as he fought off a smile.
I shrugged, "I don't know. Why?" I asked.
"Because he's dead." He deadpanned, giving me a cheesy smile.
I snorted at his response as we finally arrived at my room. "That's funny." I snorted again.
"Glad I could make you laugh. I'll see you tomorrow, Bellsy. Be prepared." He said before opening the door and allowing me to go in before closing it behind me.
As I walked in Elizabeth was waiting for me already.
"Shower quickly, we have to finish the lesson earlier than usual today.,'' she said, as she read a book on the couch.
I nodded, before stepping into the large closet and grabbing my clothes.
I take a quick hot shower before changing into the dress and leather shoes. Tying my hair as it slowly began to dry in the air.
"The books are all over on the table. We'll start as soon as you are ready." She said as she set her book aside and stood up.
I sighed, before slowly making my way towards the table by the window, and grabbing the three thick books before placing them atop my head and beginning my everyday posture exercise.
I hated this part of the day. Elizabeth was very patient with me, always helping and guiding me, but I still hated doing this. Especially when I ended up having to start all over because the stupid books tumbled to the ground.
"Bella, sweetheart, you are going to have to calm down, you're too tense, that is why the books keep falling and so do you," Elizabeth said, as Heidi entered the room with a stoic expression.
I watched Elizabeth turn sharply, before clearing her throat. "What do you need, Heidi?" She asked, moving in front of me to shield me.
"Ma'am, the boss needs to speak to you immediately," Heidi said, looking away.
"Tell him, I will be there in five minutes. Now, leave." She said before turning away.
"Of course, ma'am," Heidi said as left immediately.
Elizabeth listened, tensely as the door closed, before turning back to me, kneeling in front of me.
"I have to go, Ed needs me. I won't be back until the day after tomorrow. Until then, practice what we have been going through. Your tutor is supposed to come tomorrow morning, alright. I'll see you soon." She said, kissing my forehead before leaving the room.
After she left I placed the books back where they were, and went to sit down on the couch, feeling tired as I remembered Edward Senior and the first time we met.
He had come the fourth day after I arrived here. Introduced himself to me before explaining the situation to me as best he could.
I had been rescued from the people who had originally taken me. Some people called it the Românească.
He explained to me that they had stopped the bad people from taking me and another nineteen girls from a van, but were unable to get to my family in time.
Every other girl was sent to the hospital to get looked at. Every girl except me.
They all went back to their families except me, because the people who took me, sent my mommy and daddy to heaven.
He and Elizabeth even asked me if I wanted to be given to the State, and after a brief explanation, I decided I would rather stay here. At least here I knew that I would be safe.
After I told them that, Edward Senior then offered to visit them at the place they were put.
When we did, I knew there was no turning back, I knew I was stuck here.
It was after that first week that Edward began to visit my room.
He would check on me as often as he could after his training was over with him and his brothers.Climbing in through my window in order to do so.
He sometimes brought a book with him, other times, sore and bruised. But mostly he would be tired and bruised.
I knew his training was far more intense than mine was.
It worried me some days when he would show up cut and bruised, sometimes having to leave early so his parents didn't catch him in my room.
I always giggled at his reaction whenever we heard someone move outside my door besides the guards. He made my days a little brighter, and that was something that I would always be thankful for.
Fyi the joke in there was something my niece told me a few weeks ago.
