The training and teaching took up the time that had been given him before the Thunder Wasp was ready for him to take back to patrol. However, there were also many other things that Thrawn researched in his time on Coruscant. Following the pattern that had been set in the first week of meeting the Wing duo Thrawn started to their apartment after his final set of meetings for the day. This had fluctuated between five and six in the evening civilian time but now it was closer to four.
Upon reaching the building he found that there was an official vehicle of the Imperial Inquisitors in the front, as well as a smaller civilian vehicle that indicated a lower level education job. However Thrawn did not hesitate as he went into the building and hit the button for Sarabeth's floor. When the lift opened again he saw that the worn carpet had been treated on by Imperial style boots. More than his own would be. Walking to the apartment door, he knew that the owners would still be inside and knocked.
After almost a minute, longer than it usually takes, Sarabeth opened the door. The lines of worry and fear lightened at the sight of him. Then she glanced over her shoulder at the people behind her as he spoke, "I believe that I am early."
Sarabeth nodded, "Yes. However your timing is impeccable." Stepping aside to let him in, "Here is Commander Thrawn."
There were four Inquisitors who were standing in the room. Each looked ready to murder. Finally the bald headed leader stepped forward, "Commander." The words were laden with sarcasm and racism that Thrawn had come to expect from the ignorant. Then as if the answer would not carry much weight, "Can you vouch that Sarabeth Wing and the child were here every evening for the last few weeks."
Thrawn nodded, "Yes. I was here with them."
There was a snort from another Inquisitor. The leader ignored it, "And what has been your business here?"
Looking directly into the other man's eyes, "Jinn is a fellow Chiss. It is only right for him to understand more about his people." Then at the others, "And the Emperor himself has vouched for me. What else would you wish?"
The Inquisitors that had not blanched at those strange glowing eyes lost some confidence with the mention of the Emperor. After a moment the leader nodded, "Very well." Then signed his fellows to exit as he got close to Sarabeth, "You slipped through this time, but you can't escape the law forever." Then he spat on her before leaving.
Thrawn already had a napkin out and wiped the spit off Sarabeth's face. Then they heard the throat clearing of someone who wanted trouble. Turning Thrawn saw a civilian, obviously a teacher, who seemed to not want to release her hold on Jinns neck. The woman had an air of someone who was racist and would not let any offense go including the offense of meeting any non-human. Thrawn looked directly into the woman's dark, angry eyes with his own glowing red ones, "And what brings you here?"
The teacher spoke, "Finally. I am this idiot," shaking Jinn slightly, "teacher and I will have justice."
Raising his blue-black eyebrows Thrawn answered, "And what is the crime to be avenged?"
"He has broken the rules of the school." Continuing, "Plus having the audacity to tell the entire class exactly how a warrior should act as if our military were not good enough."
Sarabeth looked at Thrawn as he spoke, "I see. Anything else?"
Clearly coming to the chief offense the annoying woman drew herself up to her full unimpressive height, "He attacked several human children, daring to break the nose of one while giving bruises to several others." Jinn looked mutinous as she continued, "And they did nothing to deserve such an attack."
That was too much for Jinn, "Yes they did!"
He would have said more but the woman shook him, "Silence while your betters are talking." Then looking at Thrawn and Sarabeth, "What is his punishment."
Sarabeth spoke with an edge of steel, "Let Jinn go." The teacher looked ready to explode, "I am his mother," was the answer to that look, "I will decide what's best."
Looking angry at such an affront as being dismissed the other woman let Jinn go and stormed out of the apartment. Sarabeth shut the door securely behind her. Then walked over to Jinn and knelt in front of him, "What happened?" It was soft, and kind.
Jinn looked ready to cry, "The human kids had ganged up on a little Bothian. She barely started this year." Looking at his mother, "They were laughing as she tried to escape and were pushing her, it looked like they would start hitting her next. So I jumped the biggest one to break the circle. Then after knocking a few more down I was able to cover her escape." Once again he was a child as he continued, "I didn't do anything wrong."
Sarabeth put her hands on his shoulders, "Of course you did nothing wrong. You did just right." Then she hugged the boy who clung to his mother. Looking over his head at Thawn he could see the hint of helplessness about getting justice against the woman who had unjustly accused her son. Thrawn nodded and stepped out of earshot for a few moments as he keyed in a number into his communicator. When he had finished his conversation he returned to the living room to help soothe the two broken people in the other room.
