Ayla slept through pretty much the entire drive to Chicago. After using so much power trying to fight off both the newborn hybrids and the full moon, she was drained and exhausted. She slept in the back seat as Klaus drove all night until they reached their destination nearly eight hours later. When Ayla woke up, it was still dark out with the sun just barely starting to rise. She sat up in her seat, wrapping herself in the small blanket that wasn't there when she fell asleep. She looked at Klaus who was already looking at her through the rearview mirror.

"Morning, love." He greeted her as she yawned and rubbed the sleep from her eyes. The car came to a stop a few minutes later and he opened the door for himself before opening the back door for the young woman. "Welcome back to Chicago, Stefan."

"What are we doing here?" Stefan asked, Ayla just looked around seeing that they were opening another storage container. She wondered why Klaus was always using storage containers and warehouses to hold his coffins, but then she wondered where else could they possibly be held?

"I know how much you loved it here. Bringing back memories of the good old ripper days."

"Blocked out most of them." Stefan put his hands on his hips as Klaus opened a door to the building they were in. Ayla just looked out at the city that was still lit up from the early morning sunrise. Klaus looked at her, her eyes were illuminated with excitement at the prospect of being in another new city. "A lot of blood, a lot of partying. The details are all a blur."

"Well, that is a crying shame. The details are what makes it legend." Stefan was lost in thought. "I'll show you all around the city, love."

"You will?"

"Of course. Chicago is magical, isn't it Stefan?"

"Yeah, well, I'll take your word for it." Stefan started walking away from the two of them. "Like I said, I don't remember most of it."

"Down to business then?" Klaus closed the door and leant against it.

"Why am I still with you? We had our fun, your hybrids failed. I mean, don't you want to move on?"

"We're going to see my second favorite witch." Klaus looked to her. "Don't worry, love. You'll always hold that number one spot."

"Flattery." She rolled her eyes, a tired smile on her face.

"If anyone can help us with our hybrid problem, it's her." Klaus opened the car doors once again, holding his arm out to her so she could step in with ease.

After compelling them hotel rooms and putting their bags in, the three of them had begun their journey to finding answers. They walked into the bar and it was completely empty. Not that it shouldn't be considering it was only the early hours of the afternoon. Klaus walked in, his hand on the small of Ayla's back and she could see his memories of this place. Of how it looked back in the twenties. She was enamored with it. The jazz. The dancing. The fashion.

"Looks familiar, doesn't it?" Klaus asked Stefan.

"I can't believe this place is still here."

"You gotta be kidding me." A beautiful, older dark-skinned woman spoke from the other side of the bar.

"So a hybrid walks into a bar, says to the bartender-"

"Stop." The woman scoffed. "You may be invincible, but that doesn't make you funny." She looked at Stefan. "I remember you."

"Yeah, you're Gloria."

"Mmhmm." She nodded. "And this one, what is a witch doing with these two?"

"She's actually a hybrid, as well, Gloria. Part witch, part werewolf." Klaus spoke up, a big, proud grin on his face.

"That's rare. But she is far too innocent for the likes of you two." Gloria spoke, looking to her. "What's your name, sweetheart?"

"Ayla." She held her hand out to the woman, but Gloria didn't shake it. She eyed her hand with a small, suspicious smirk.

"I can feel your powers, sweetheart. I don't need you looking into my brain." She spoke with a serious, but sweet tone.

"Shouldn't you be…"

"Old and dead?" Gloria smiled. "Now if I die, who's going to run this place, huh?"

"Gloria is a very powerful witch." Klaus tilted his head and told Ayla.

"I can slow the aging down some. Herbs and spells. But don't worry, it'll catch up to me one day."

"Stefan, why don't you go and fix us up a little something from behind the bar?"

"Yeah, sure thing." He said, reluctantly.

"You look ravishing, by the way." He told Gloria with a smile.

"Don't." She held a hand up. "Especially not with your girl right there."

"But I'm not…"

"I know why you're here." Gloria cut Ayla off, sitting on one of the chairs while Klaus sat in a booth next to Ayla. "A hybrid out to make more hybrids? That kind of news travels."

"So what am I doing wrong? I broke the curse."

"Obviously you did something wrong." He sighed and looked at her with annoyance. "Look, every spell has a loophole, but a curse that old… we'd have to contact the witch who created it."

"Well, that would be the original witch. She's very dead." He gave a faux smile to the older witch.

"I know. And for me to contact her, I'll need help." She stared at Klaus. "Bring me Rebekah."

"Rebekah." He sighed again. "Rebekah is a bit preoccupied."

"She has what I need. Bring her to me."

"What is this?" Stefan held a photo in his hand, his eyes worried.

"Well, I told you, Stefan. Chicago's a magical place."

"This is me. With you." Stefan held up the picture. Ayla's eyebrows furrowed at the sight, wondering why Klaus and Stefan would have been together in the twenties. Klaus began walking out of the bar with a smirk on his face while Stefan followed him. Ayla just sighed before bidding her goodbye to Gloria and following the two immortals out as well. "This doesn't make any sense. Why don't I remember you?"

"You said it yourself, that time had a lot of dark holes."

"No!" Stefan yelled while they walked into the storage building again, that was just a minute or so walk from Gloria's bar. "If you knew me, then why haven't you said anything?"

"I'm a little busy right now. Memory lane will have to wait."

"What the hell is going on?" Stefan snarled, pulling Klaus back to look at him. "Answer me."

"Let's just say, we didn't get off to a brilliant start. To be honest, I hated you." Klaus smirked. "Come here, Ayla. Touch my arm, then touch Stefan's, I want you to push my memories onto him."

"I can do that?"

"Let's try it." She nodded, grabbing both of their arms and she focused on the memories that she was retrieving from Klaus. She bit her lip as she continued pushing the memories onto Stefan. Her head was starting to hurt at the usage of her newfound ability, but she was too exhilarated to know that she could do something so advanced.

"Your sister? So I know another original vampire?" He pulled away from Ayla to look at Klaus.

"If you can't handle it, then don't ask." Klaus began walking away from him. "Good, Ayla. You control your powers more and more by the day."

"That's Rebekah?" Ayla stood behind Klaus, seeing her skin greyed and black veins throughout her body. He just nodded and Ayla couldn't help but focus on how beautiful she was, even with her greying skin and blackened veins.

"I don't recognize her." Stefan said.

"Well, don't tell her that. Rebekah's temper is worse than mine." He pulled the dagger out of her chest. "Time to wake up, little sister."

"How long does it usually take for them to wake up?" Ayla asked, standing over the casket. He just shrugged, not really knowing the answer.

"Any day now, Rebekah. She's being dramatic."

"Look, why don't you just tell me what the hell is going on? I mean, you obviously want both of us here for a reason, right?"

"Well, Ayla… I enjoy her company. And you have many useful talents."

"Do I?"

"In fact, I learned some of my favorite tricks from you." He put Ayla's hand on his arm. "Again, if you don't mind, love." She just nodded, grabbing Stefan's arm and pushing more memories onto him. The memory of Stefan forcing a human man to drink his wife's blood. At the sight of them laughing, Ayla pulled away from the both of them, a disgusted look on her face.

"I don't want to see that." She spoke roughly.

"I'm sorry, love." Klaus apologized, pushing a strand of hair behind her ear before turning back to Stefan. "I was your number one fan."

"Why should I believe any of this? How do I know you're not making this all up?" Klaus just walked away towards the guard in the building.

"When she wakes up, tell her to meet us at Gloria's bar. Then volunteer your carotid artery and let her feed until you die."

"Where are you going?"

"You think I'm lying, Stefan. You and I knew each other. You trusted me with one of your secrets and now I'm going to prove it to you."

"How?"

"We're going to your old apartment." Klaus told them, but she stopped walking.

"I don't want to go." She told them, looking back at the coffin that held the original.

"You don't have to, Ayla." He told her. "You're here of your own volition. I told you, you don't have to do anything you don't want to."

"I'll just… I'll stay here." She told him. "I'll wait for Rebekah to wake up."

"We'll see you later then."

Ayla was leaning against the wall, looking over at the casket when she heard the once dead original gasping for air as she sat up quickly. Ayla stood up and inched over to her slowly, wanting to explain everything to her gently.

"You… you're from Nik's paintings." Rebekah's brows furrowed in confusion when she saw the young girl, instantly recognizing the beautiful face that had once been hanging on the wall of her home in New Orleans. She quickly vamp-sped out of the coffin and pushed Ayla up against the wall, holding her hand tightly against her throat. Ayla was immediately overcome with Rebekah's impassioned outrage and mistrust. "What are you doing here? Where is Nik?"

"I-I" Ayla coughed out. Ayla figured that it was probably not a great idea to be waiting alone for a hungry vampire who had been technically dead for nearly a century. Ayla's eyes started to water as Rebekah took her hand off the girl's throat before staring at her expectantly, the veins prominent under her eyes proving that the Original vampire was hungry. "I-I'm Ayla." She gasped out, trying to regain her composure. "Klaus is out somewhere with Stefan. They wanted us to go Gloria's bar."

"And what exactly are you doing with my brother? Why are you with him?"

"I'm part witch, part werewolf. He-he's been teaching me to control my powers." She stuttered, trying to conceal her fear. "We're friends."

"Nik doesn't have any friends." She spat out, before running over to the guard who was just a few feet away. She instantly bit into the guard's neck and drained him of his blood. The body fell to the ground and Ayla just stared at it, not used to being that up close and personal with an angry vampire feeding. They both heard the door open and then close a moment later.

Rebekah quickly sped to Ayla and wrapped an arm around her neck tightly, while they hid behind some of the shelves in the warehouse. Rebekah held her hand over the girl's mouth in an effort to silence her panic, waiting for Klaus to get closer to them.

"Rebekah… It's your big brother." He called out in a joking manner. But when he couldn't find Ayla, his tone became more threatening, almost deadly. "What did you do with Ayla, Rebekah?" He bellowed. Rebekah instantly threw Ayla onto the ground a few feet in front of Klaus before she sped over to him, shoving the dagger into his heart.

"Go to hell, Nik!" Klaus gasped in pain at the feeling of the dagger being shoved into his heart.

"No!" Ayla screamed. She ignored the pain in her own heart as he pulled the dagger out of his chest. She watched on as he sighed in relief and dropped the dagger onto the floor. Her own pain disintegrating as she took a deep breath, eyeing the dagger on the ground, wondering why and how she had the ability to feel his pain.

"Don't pout. You knew it wouldn't kill me." He smiled, looking to Ayla who was standing across the room from him, clearly distressed.

"Yeah, but I was hoping it would hurt more." Rebekah turned away from him with a roll of her eyes.

"I'm alright, love. You know silver can't kill a wolf." Her eyes were still wide with worry, with light. He didn't know how or why or when, but he saw that she cared for him. And for some reason, that made his heart beat a little quicker in his chest. "I understand that you're upset with me, Rebekah… So I'm going to let that go. Just this once. I brought you a little peace offering."

"Well, I hope it's not the dog." She looked to Ayla. "No offense."

"None taken, I guess." Ayla shrugged it off, used to people insulting her werewolf side.

"You can come in." Klaus called out.

"Stefan?" Rebekah gasped in surprise. Ayla felt the adoration rolling off of the Original when she made eye contact with him. Klaus walked to him quickly, put a hand on Stefan's shoulder and looked him in the eyes.

"Now you remember." He compelled him.

"Rebekah…" Stefan's eyes widened before he turned to Klaus. "I remember you. We were friends."

"We are friends." Klaus walked closer to him, before looking back at his little sister. "And now the reason you're here. Gloria tells me you know how to contact the original witch."

"The original witch?"

"What do you have that Gloria needs?" Rebekah put her hand on her neck and she felt the confusion wave off of her.

"Where's my necklace? What did you do with it? I never take it off!"

"I don't know. I didn't touch it."

"We need to find it, Nik. Now, I want it back!"

"Tell me that's not what she needs, Rebekah!" Klaus yelled, gripping her arms and shaking her slightly in frustration. Rebekah pushed him off roughly and rushed to her casket, searching everywhere for it before she slammed the lid and flipped it across the room angrily. It was only a second later when she felt an uneasiness drifting off of Stefan.

AN: Sorry this chapter follows along the show with little deviations, but we finally have Rebekah in the story!
