Commander Thrawn is not the only Chiss in the Empire. The other is a seven year old boy, who is being raised by a human woman. What happens when their paths are crossed? How will having the chance at a family affect the Commander? A fic for those who want to see a more parental/family side to the cold and calculating Thrawn. And him using that for his Families good.

14. Chapter 14 Mama expresses fears to Dad

Thrawn watched the video of Sarabeth carefully as she explained the visit with Ottis Dos who said he was Moff Gadi's body gaurd. The whole story came out of her like a wave. At the end of it she smiled, "Look at me, the hysterical woman. I never thought I would be." Wringing her hands, "I know there isn't much to go on, still I can't help feeling he meant to harm us somehow." Her worried eyes looked up to meet Thrawn's though the recording, "Would you please look into it, just to make sure?"

He nodded silently, of course he would. He always would protect them. Then Jinn's voice came onto the recording and Sarabeth looked toward it before turning back to him, "I'd better go tuck him back in. Until next transmission." But there was no brilliant smile this time.

Pausing the video before she turned it off he studied her expression for a moment before reaching for his comm. "Ensign Vanto."

"Yes Commander?" The voice was muffled like Vanto's always did when Thrawn called him in the middle of the night. Thrawn was sure that Vanto had given up on preventing these calls and now just buried his head in the pillow when they happened.

"Please report to my quarters." Still looking at Sarabeth's image, "I need to get information on something."
