They arrived in Pennsylvania in the middle of the night; the flight didn't take as long as it did when they flew commercially but a good 8 hours stuck on a jet with Klaus and Rebekah was long enough.
They slept in the nearest hotel they could find, it wasn't anything flashy or as exquisite as the one in London but they only needed to rest until morning; they still had to figure out where the ritual was being performed and how they where going to prevent it from happening; there intention wasn't too kill the demon king this time, there main goal is to locate the other half of the weapon so they can eventually put an end to him, especially before he releases hell on earth.
When they awoke in the morning, they where filled with dread about what was about to come to pass; Elena had offered to use her blood to fight the demon king, they didn't know how they where going to do this without hurting herself too much.
They all sat around the coffee table in Klaus' room, pondering a way for this to end without anyone getting hurt... Or worse.
"I'm not sure how Elena will use her blood to disable him," Spoke Bonnie.
"There's nothing in that book?" Elijah responded.
"Nothing. This is just a theory we're working with here; obviously it's a good one considering she removed the curse from Kol but it's not like we can weaponize her blood." She was slightly sarcastic towards the end; she was starting to get annoyed at everyone assuming she knew all the answers.
"It's fine, Elijah, I'll figure it out." Elena's attempt at reassurance.
"Nothing about this is fine." He was unsure of how to deal with this situation; he wanted this to all be over and keep Elena away from all danger, not to throw her in the thick of it.
"I understand how you must be feeling, if the situation was reversed, I'd be acting the same as you but I promise, everything will be fine."
He only nodded his head, unable to find the words to voice how he was truly feeling about it.
"Whilst we where in the jet, Bonnie found that the ritual will be held in the forest surrounding the castle; it turns out that the monks built the castle there for a reason, it's on top of a nexus, a focal point in channelling dark magic; there is an ancient witch bloodline buried beneath it." Klaus spoke.
"I'll be able to tap into it," Bonnie continued, "It's strong magic, I'll be able to call upon my ancestors to keep me grounded and away from the evil in the magic but it will help in stopping the warlocks."
"Rebekah and Klaus will be the muscle, kill anything you see." They both happily agreed with Elijah.
"And Elena, stay hidden until you see your moment, if you think you can get too the demon king, call Elijah and he'll keep you safe." Klaus finalised the plan, "We'll all be there to watch both of your backs."
Everyone was clear on the plan, they each knew there roles and they where ready for it; they where definitely feeling more hopeful about ending this ritual than the last, they just hoped it would all come to pass the way they had planned.

The evening had arrived, each and everyone of them full of nerves as they approached castle; they remained hidden in the forest until they heard them, they appeared to be early.
Rebekah and Klaus where standing behind several trees flocked together, remaining silent so they could listen for any sign of the demon king or his warlocks.
Elena and Bonnie where sat beside each other in the back seat, holding hands and trying to act like they weren't scared; they where.
Elijah was staying near to Elena, he wasn't going to be far from her side for the remainder of the night.
It was getting later and later and as they started to wonder if they had the right day, Klaus started to hear the warlocks chanting further away from them in the forest.
He nodded towards Elijah, signalling that it was time.
Bonnie had exited the car first, just as Elena was about to follow, Elijah had turned to face her, reaching and taking her hand in his, "Please be safe, I love you."
"You too," She lifted there hands towards her lips and placed a soft kiss on top of his hand, "I love you too, more than anything."
They climbed out of the car; Elijah held onto Elena and Bonnie onto Klaus as they all sped off towards the castle, arriving seconds later; they remained hidden behind some trees and bushes, waiting for the right moment to attack.
There he was again, the demon king; his robes a scarlet red this time instead of the green and it was held together with a black rope that had some sort of object hanging from it, probably something magical.
There was approximately 20 more warlocks surrounding him in a perfect circle; they all began chanting, there heads dipped to face the floor, the demon king was looking up to the sky when these blue lights started to emerge from the ground and started to float around him. After a minute or two more of chanting, the lights started to shoot into his body.
"Bonnie, now!" Klaus nodded his head towards her, she wore an amulet around her neck, similar to the one she wore during the first ritual but this was a triquetra, it was to be used to bind herself with her ancestors. She began performing a spell, her voice low as she tapped into the magic of the burial site.
The demon king was becoming stronger and stronger by the minute, Rebekah and Klaus intervened by killing the warlocks that were surrounding him; some of them didn't die, they appeared to be tapped into the demon king and his magic and this was preventing there death; they fought back, attacking the siblings with all the magic they had.
Bonnie entered the scene, she was consumed with power; she used a spell to completely sink all of the warlocks into the ground, suffocating them with earth but much like the first ritual, more would appear at the defence of the demon king.
The numbers had doubled but they hold there own for a while; Elijah remained with Elena behind the trees, they watched as it would continue but it was starting to overwhelm them, "You have to go help them, Elijah."
"I can't leave you here." He couldn't look her in the eye without revealing his true concern.
"You won't be, if I need you, I'll shout for you in a heartbeat." He reluctantly nodded his head at her words and joined his siblings on the field; he had some much pent up emotion and rage from Elena's decision to join the fight that no warlock would stand a chance, he ripped through them all.
It was happening again; Elena watched as Bonnie grew weaker, she had used so much magic killing the warlocks and taming the demon king that she was started to fall to the ground, blood once again running down her face from her noise; she looked at Elena before crashing to the ground, she wasn't completely passed out yet so Elena snuck out from behind the trees to pull her to safety.
She continued to watch, the demon king had began to chant now that Bonnie had been consumed by magic and left weak, he held his hands up in the air and pointing towards the sky, thunder emerged from his hands and shot into the sky, the clouds began to separate, a powerful wind pushing down on them all.
The siblings where fighting with everything that they had; they where soaked in blood as they tore through as many warlocks as they could but they wouldn't stop coming, they where an endless army, there magic becoming too strong for even them too handle.
Rain began to fall heavily upon them all, Elena just kept watching and waiting for her moment; she wanted to wait until the demon king was least expecting it, when he couldn't fight her.
Lightening began to strike from the sky and hitting the ground beside them, the earth was shaking and the ritual was almost complete.
He chanted louder and he became more intense, he clapped his hands and crouched onto his knees, his arms stretching out to the side of him as small red droplets started falling from the sky.
They became more intense; it was literally raining fire.
This was her chance; the siblings where losing, she watched as five warlocks had a hold of Elijah, pinning him to the ground as another approached him, muttering a spell beneath his breath. Bonnie was weak and Rebekah and Klaus had been levitated into the air.
Elena searched the ground for anything sharp, anything she could use; she spotted a rock with an edge to it and scraped it down the palms of both of her hands, blood spilling from both wounds as she ran as fast as she could towards the demon king.
She ran right past Elijah, her eyes watching him as if she was moving in slow motion, he was trying to fight himself free from the warlocks to be near her but he couldn't, she had to do this for him.
As she neared the barrier, she didn't stop, she just held her hand out in front of her and she broke through it, she instantly fell to her knees in front of him and gripped onto his face as hard as she could, he began to screech as her blood boiled his skin.
The spell began to cease, the fire stopping and the earth stopped shaking; she pushed more into his face, her blood fell down his entire body and he began convulsing. Before he could disappear, she removed one hand from his face and grabbed the object that hung from his belt.
Before she knew it, he was gone, the clouds began to move back into position and the weather returned to normal. The warlocks where in shock, she had distracted them long enough for the originals to end them all.
Elena just stayed still for a long moment, processing what had just happened; she remained on her knees, her hands covered in blood as she held onto the object she took from the demon king.
Within seconds, Elijah was beside her, his hands cupping her face, "Thank god."
"Elena, are you okay?" Rebekah called out to her.
"Please speak, my love," Elijah placed small soft kisses all around her face for a long moment.
"I'm okay," She finally spoke, "Did we win?"
"We won, Elena, you did it." Klaus smiled at her.
"I can't believe we did it," A wide grin spread across her face; Elijah grasped the top of her arm, gently returning her to her feet, her hands where too sore to touch. She glanced down at the object once more, hoping her theory is true, "And is this the other half of the weapon?"
Her smile had suddenly turned quite cocky; whoever didn't believe in her in the first place would feel the sting of her achievement tonight.
"You're amazing." Elijah held her close, "But I'm never letting you go again."
"That's fine with me," She smiled onto his lips before placing a soft kiss on them.
"Let's go, guys, we have some celebrating to do." Rebekah smiled happily before she sped off into the night.
Klaus once again held onto Bonnie and Elijah with Elena as they raced back to the hotel.

When they returned, they stood around the table looking at the two halves of the weapon; Bonnie had insisted that she would be able to complete the spell tonight whilst she still had some residue power left from the burial site; Elena had already lost enough blood and at least this way, she could just use what was coming from the deep gashes in her palms.
There where several candles spread around the weapon and she had the book in her hands; as she began to read the spell, the weapon began to shake.
Bonnie nodded her head towards Elena; she removed the bandage Elijah had secured to her hand and held her palm over the halves, blood trickling from the wound and falling onto the metal, the more it fell, the more the blade would shake until it lifted into the air; Bonnie's chanting became more intense and the candles went out, the two pieces snapped together, her blood bonding them together and revealing its true form.
The blade itself was in the shape of an intertwining spiral, the hilt was in the shape of a set of angels wings and the handle in the centre of them; it was pristine.
"We finally have it," Niklaus spoke, an accomplished smirk appeared on his lips, "We can kill the demon king."
"Our efforts have not been in vain," Elijah paused for a long moment, a quick sigh of relief escaping his lips, "Tonight we rest, tomorrow we will begin the search for him and finally put an end to him."
They all nodded there head in agreement, finally there was an end in sight to all this.
Even though they had the weapon and they where all relishing in the thought of a demon king free world, Elijah's main concern was still Elena; she started to look weak, her complexion pale and she looked so exhausted that she may faint at any given moment. He needed to care for her.
He returned her to the room they had got together, they no longer needed separate rooms and to hide there relationship from the others.
This time, he was the one that wanted to run her the bath and look after her; they sat together on the bed whilst it filled, Elijah had unwrapped the other bandage from her hand, revealing the two wounds she had carved into her palms.
"Elena.." His head dipped, his concern overwhelming, "I wish you didn't have to do this."
"I'm glad I did," She spoke weakly, "I needed to help you."
She was feeling extremely faint; she was exhausted, starving and her hands still bleeding. She leaned her head on his chest for support and she could feel his fingers stroking her hair.
"Elena," He sat her up to face him, his hands cupping her head so she didn't fall back onto his chest, "I'm going to help you."
He brought his wrist up to his mouth, his fangs erupting between his teeth as he bit into himself, his blood trickling from the wound; he held it in front of Elena, she looked up at him, barely able to keep her eyes open.
She placed her lips over the puncture wounds and began to drink; she could already feel the life returning to her, she couldn't feel the pain of her hand wounds anymore and she was overcoming her weakness, Elijah continued to stroke her hair for comfort. After a minute or two, she pulled his wrist from her mouth, a few droplets stained on the corner of her lips.
"Thank you, Elijah." She kissed him softly on the cheek.
"Of course," He stood up and entered the bathroom, switching the tap off and gesturing for her to come in, "Your bath is ready, my love."
"Don't you mean our bath?" She smirked playfully at him; he chuckled slightly, before beginning to remove his clothes.
She stepped off the bed and entered the bathroom, she removed all her clothes; they where soaked in her blood and rain from the ritual, there was even some holes in them where the fire of rain had singed them.
They both hopped into the bath; she lathered herself in shower gel, washing away all the blood and grime from her skin, Elijah used a loofah to wash over her back, he moved slowly and in circular motions; she felt so relaxed as she the water washed over her, she leaned her head back and closed her eyes, embracing it.
She lifted her hands from under the water, the long wounds had closed mostly closed over, they where practically only scratches now; she was amazed, "I healed so quickly, nothing hurts anymore."
"Perks of being a thousand years old, my blood works quicker and more efficiently; he kissed the palm of her hands before pulling her into a long embrace.
"I'll have to keep you around then, won't I?" She teased.
"I'm afraid so." He laughed.
-w-
They stayed in the bath for a little while longer before heading to bed; she was in a small nightgown that just about covered her and revealed her panties slightly and Elijah was just in his boxers.
"Can I ask you something, Elena?" He spoke.
"Anything." She shot a smile at him.
"What do you want for your life?" Not the easiest and lightest of questions to ask before sleep but she was happy he wanted too know.
"I haven't really thought about it," She shrugged her shoulders.
"Why not?"
"Usually when I think about my life, something drastic comes along and changes it; first my parents died, then it was the Salvatore's and the revelation of the supernatural world, then my deal with Klaus. The best thing that has ever happened to me is you, if it's okay with you, I'd like to plan together?" Her words brought a small grin to his face.
"I want that more than anything," His heart began racing slightly at the thought of actually planning a life, something he had never done before especially with someone he loved more than life itself, all he wanted to do was make her happy.
"Where do we start?" She asked eagerly, she sat up in front of him once again, her legs crossed beneath her and the happiest smile spread across her face.
He was nervous and she could see it in his facial expressions; he remained still for a quick minute, pondering his next move. He had no doubts in his mind whatsoever about Elena and he was eager to begin there life together.
He stood out of bed and walked towards his bag that contained all of his stuff, he pushed everything to on side and a side pocket was revealed, he opened the zip and reached in; Elena watched intently as he took something out and covered it with his hand. She expected him to climb back onto the bed in front of her but when she looked, he was down on one knee.
"Elena," His voice as steady and as clear as usual, not a crack in his emotions or any doubts; he opened his hand out and there was a small black box covered in velvet resting on his palm.
"Oh my god," She whispered under her breath as she processed what was happening; he opened the box, revealing a large diamond ring, her eyes widened slightly.
"I've waited my entire existence for you, I've never loved anyone as much as I do you; I want to spend the rest of my time on this earth with you showing you each and everyday how much you mean too me. Will you do me the complete honour of becoming my wife?"
She paused for a second, her heart hammering against her chest; the biggest smile appearing on her lips, she didn't even have to think about her answer, there was nothing she wanted more than to say, "Yes."
He too was flushed with happiness that he couldn't help but smile widely; he took the ring from the box and slid it onto her finger, grasping her hand and pulling her in for the most passionate kiss they had ever shared.
"You make me so happy, Elijah, I can't wait to be your wife." She spoke onto his lips.
"I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you."
He placed her back on the bed and dragged the blankets over them both; they spent the entire night expressing there love for each other before they eventually fell into a deep slumber.
