"It's all making sense now," They all watched as Klaus paced up and down, his fingers stroking his chin as he thought deeper into this, "The rituals began after Elena killed Esther, he was waiting for her."
It still stung a bit when she was reminded of murdering Esther; it may have been for the best but she still took a life, it was something that would stay with her for a long time, "It was all my fault?"
Elijah picked up on her guilt, he knew she was still troubled by her actions towards his mother, "No, this isn't your fault, Elena; it's of our mothers own doing, she united with him centuries ago, taught her the ways of the dark arts and in return, she probably agreed to this ritual."
"Our mother," Klaus rolled his eyes, his disappointment deep, "Even from the grave she still taunts us."
"We have to head back to Mystic Falls immediately, wait for the demon king to arrive and stop him before he gets the chance to bring her back and unleash this hell on earth," Rebekah suggested.
"She's right," Klaus agreed, "Looks like we're gonna need the jet again, be ready in an hour."
They all nodded there heads and raced out of the room.
Elijah and Elena where back in there room, throwing all of there belongings into there bag, ensuring they didn't leave anything behind.
"How are feeling about returning to Mystic Falls, my love?" Elijah asked, zipping up his bag and tossing it next to the door.
"I'm happy, I think," She nodded her head slightly, before tossing her bag by the door also, "Excited to see Jeremy and Caroline again and tell them about the good news, I can't wait to tell everyone I know about us."
"Everyone?" He questioned.
"You mean Stefan and Damon?" She sat down on the bed and tapped the space next to her, he obliged and sat beside her, "I said everyone, Elijah and I mean everyone, including Stefan and Damon, they are my past, you're my present and my future. I don't want you to think I'm going to see them again and instantly go running back, you have to trust me."
"I do trust you, Elena, with my life and more," Elijah tried to explain himself without sounding like a paranoid fiancee, " I just fear you'll be reminded of your life with them and your family and want to return to it."
"Even if that ever did happen, I'd beg you to stay with me," She moved onto his lap, her hands caressing his face and placing her forehead on his, "And if you didn't want to live in Mystic Falls, I'd still leave with you. Forever, Elijah, I'm yours."
He pressed his lips onto hers with such force and passion that it took her breath away; using the one arm he had wrapped around her waist, he stood up and lifted her with him, using his speed to take her over to the table in the centre of the room, he pressed her back onto it and bent over her, leaning into her and kissing her forcefully.
Small moans where escaping her lips at the sudden contact and heat between them; she knew they didn't have the time for this but she didn't care, the world could be ending in that very moment and she would only ever want to be with him in every way humanly possibly.
She pressed her legs into his back, her toes curled inwards as he continued to explore her body; her most sensitive area already throbbing for him.
He pulled down her shorts and panties simultaneously and let them drop off her ankles, landing on the floor. He continued to kiss her, there lips parting and there tongues massaging against each other, she sat up slightly and pulled his t-shirt over his head, allowing it to fall to the floor.
He responded by removing her shirt, his hands wandering her entire chest and stomach area as there kiss continued; the heat between them increasing with every touch.
She undone the button to his pants and forced them down, her eyes quickly scanning over his entire body before he smashed his lips onto hers once again, he leaned her back onto the table, her back arched as she rubbed against him, her breasts pressed into his bare chest.
He thrusted into her slowly, there moans in sync at the feel of them becoming one; she rocked her hips up and down him, her moans of ecstasy driving him wild; he picked up his speed and forcefully slid in and out of her. She bit onto her bottom lip as he hit her in the right spot each time, her walls clenching around him and making her tighter.
Both of his hands moved down the edges of her body before he landed them onto her waist, as he thrusted into her, he pulled her waist in harder; a low scream flew out of her mouth as she felt him deep inside her, the more intense her moans became, the more he wanted to hear it, he pulled her into him over and over again, her most sensitive area becoming wetter and wetter with each thrust.
"You feel amazing," She just about spoke in her hazy and pleasure filled trance. She wanted more, "Harder."
He obliged.
He rocked his hips and pulled her into him to meet his thrusts, his speed becoming faster and his force becoming rougher, she wrapped her arms tightly around his neck and dug her nails into his skin as she felt pure pleasure wash over her entire body; as he pulled her in, she forced herself further and further onto him, his moves hitting her perfectly.
Her entire body was tingling and screaming for more, she'd never felt pleasure before like this in her entire life, she didn't think it possible to feel so high on pleasure. Her screams only made him want more, he moved his hands from her waist and onto her butt, he moved her up and down on him as fast as he could, he could feel himself getting closer as she soaked his entire erection, the way she felt on him when she rocked her hips was like nothing he had felt before, he thrusted into her as deeply as he could before he filled her, a loud groan escaping his lips as they came together.
She just lay still on the table, unable to move or speak for a long minute until he kissed her intimately and passionately whilst they came down from there climax.
"Wow," She exclaimed, a smirk appearing on her lips, "Even a quickie with you is amazing."
They both laughed quietly whilst they collected themselves and threw there clothes back on.
"We better go," Elena said as she grabbed her bag from the floor, "They'll be waiting for us."
Elijah nodded his head as he too picked up his bag, they both exited the hotel and waved down a taxi out front, heading straight for the airport.
It wasn't long before they where all on the jet and in the air, heading direct to Mystic Falls.
-w-
Once they landed, Elena became nervous; it had been a while since she was home and she left without saying goodbye to everyone, she only left letters because she couldn't face them. She'd never regret her decision to leave, she'd happily do it all over again because it lead her to Elijah but she couldn't help but feel guilty.
Bonnie headed straight home, she wanted a bath and her own bed.
"Me and Rebekah are going to the old mansion, will you be meeting us there? Spoke Klaus.
"Yes, I'm just going to see Jeremy." Elena smiled at the thought of seeing her brother again.
"I'll be going with her."
Klaus nodded his head at Elijah's words and they both sped of into the distance.
They made there way to Elena's childhood home, it was 5pm so she was sure Jeremy would be home; she dug out her old set of keys and unlocked the front door, stepping over the threshold. Elijah was still invited from his last visit.
"Jeremy," She called out, her voice spreading across the entire house, "It's me, where are you?"
She heard his bedroom door open and he ran to the top of the stairs, double checking it was actually her, "Elena?"
"It's so good to see you, Jeremy." He ran down the stairs as quick as possible and they met in a tight embrace, "I've missed you so much."
"I've missed you too," He smiled as he pulled her in even more, he opened his eyes and saw Elijah standing behind them, "What the hell is he doing here?"
"Oh, Jeremy, we have so much catching up to do." They all walked into the kitchen, it felt like she had never really left; she adored her house with her little brother and it will always be home to her.
They spoke for about an hour, she filled him in on the demon king and her and Elijah's engagement; she mentioned how her and Rebekah had become like sisters and to her complete surprise, she actually got along with Klaus. She told him all about the places she had been and the encounters they had with the demon king.
"Elena, that is actually crazy," He laughed, "All that matters is that you're happy."
"For the first time in my life, I'm actually truly happy," She took Elijah's hand in hers and smiled up at him.
"Yeah, still kinda processing you two being together, so that's just weird." They all laughed at her little brothers words and continued to talk for a little while longer.
All off a sudden, a blonde blur burst through the door and jumped on Elena, forcing them to the floor in a tight hug, "Oh my god, I can't believe you're back."
"Caroline! I've missed you so much," They where both laughing as she stood onto her feet and pulled Elena up.
"I just got off the phone to Bonnie and headed straight over here," She held both of Elena's hands, practically shaking at her presence. "I thought I'd never see you again."
"I knew I'd always come back, Care."
"Well, you went running off with those crazy original..." She trailed off as she noticed Elijah was standing there too, her entire demeanour changed as she saw him but she didn't know if she should attack, "I'm confused, why is he here?"
"Jeremy, can you fill her in? We have to head back," She laughed as she spoke.
"Wait," As Caroline held her hands, she saw the ring and pulled it up to her face for a closer inspection, "What is that?"
"Me and Elijah are engaged," She smiled at her words but Caroline was in shock.
"What?" Her eyes widened slightly, "But oh my god, this ring is gorgeous."
"Thank you." She hugged Caroline once again, "Jeremy, tell her everything, I'll be back tomorrow. Oh and if one of you could just ring Stefan or Damon and tell them we're here, maybe catch them up a bit, it may take the element of surprise away when we see them."
"Of course," Spoke Jeremy and she hugged them both simultaneously before leaving her childhood home.
Elijah held her by the waist and used his speed to return them to the mansion, they waited outside for a long moment, "I think that went well."
"Better than well but I honestly thought Caroline was going to attack you... And then steal my ring." She laughed quietly, happy to be home, "Come on, Klaus will send a search party soon."
They both entered the mansion, Klaus and Rebekah looked quite stressed; Elena walked into the living room and sat down on the sofa, "Is everything okay?"
"Bonnie done a locator spell whilst you where catching up with your family, the demon king is here now but he's in hiding, she can't track his exact location, only area."
Elena felt a wave of fear wash over her, she'd only just returned and she was already putting everyone she loved in danger; she only wished she could have returned under better circumstances.
"How can we find him?" She asked, trying to mask the fear in her tone of voice.
"We're not sure," Rebekah spoke, "The only plan we have is a risky one; find the location of the third ritual and kill him before he can finish it."
"That is extremely risky," Elijah responded, "I don't like it, anything could happen."
"Unless you have any better ideas, brother, it might be our only shot." Klaus spat back at him.
"Maybe," He paused for a long moment, "What did you do with our mothers body when you had your hybrids dispose of her?"
"Buried her in an unmarked grave in the Mystic Falls cemetery, why?" Asked Klaus.
"He'll either perform the ritual there or remove her body and take it to where he plans on raising her, if we wait for him there, we'll have ample of time to kill him," Spoke Elijah, "He is unlikely to know of our arrival here so soon, we have the element of surprise."
"I'll take first watch, I remember the exact location where she is buried, I'll call with any updates." Klaus spoke before hastily exiting the mansion, weapon in tow.
"You should get some sleep, Elena, I'll wait for his call," Elijah suggested.
"I couldn't sleep even if I wanted too, way too much worry mixed with a lot of excitement from seeing Jeremy and Caroline, I'm a mess, I'd rather stay with you." She responded, making herself comfortable on the sofa as best she could.
"This could be a great time to talk wedding details," Rebekah sat next to her, a wide grin on her face.
"Definitely not," Elena laughed and shook her head slightly, "We're waiting for the demon king to resurface to bring about the end of the world and you want to sit here talking about dresses?"
"Well, yes," They both chuckled at Rebekah's words, Elena shaking her head.
"Let's just wait for Klaus to call," Elena responded.
A short while had passed, the room was mostly filled with silence; Elena was lost in thought about Esther and that hell on earth could very well be a reality, only one more ritual stood in the demon kings way and he was strong. Her mind bounced back to Kol and how much she missed him, the original family feeling incomplete without him. She thought back the second ritual where she had almost died along with the others.
Then it hit her, "Elijah, how long does the blood of an original vampire stay in ones system?"
"Could be a week, why?" He asked, slightly confused at first but he thought a little into it, the realisation hitting him, "No."
Klaus suddenly come storming through door; it was nearly morning light and he grew bored of waiting for the demon king. As he entered, he saw a look of distress on his siblings and Elena's faces, "Oh no, what now?"
"Elena still has Elijah's blood in her system," Rebekah answered.
Klaus just rolled his eyes, he'd had just about enough of all the complications recently, "So if something was to happen to you, you'd become a vampire?"
"Yes, brother," A deep sigh escaped Elijah's lips, "Elena, you'll be staying here where I can watch you."
"I can't, my blood is the only thing that can stop him and I can't risk all life on earth because I might die." Elena spoke bravely but in reality, she was terrified.
"I'll call Bonnie, see if there's something we can do." Rebekah placed her arm on top of Elena's, reassuring her as best as she could before exiting the room.
"No sign of the demon king all night, I returned here in hopes Rebekah would take over the watch," He rolled his eyes once more, "Which doesn't seem likely at this point."
"I have an idea," Elijah reached into his pocket and pulled out his phone, he scrolled through his contacts until saw the desired name, it rang several times before an answer.
"What do you want?" A familiar voice spoke.
"We need your help, Damon."
"Why would I ever help you?" His voice as snarky as ever.
"My families life depends on it, Elena included," He shot a glance towards her, she didn't know how to react to this, "And the entire world, I suppose."
There was a slight pause followed by a deep breath, "What do you need?"
"Meet my brother at the Mystic Falls cemetery, he'll explain everything."
"Fine." Damon spat before abruptly hanging up.
"Why have I got to go?" Klaus protested, almost whiny.
Elijah didn't speak a single word, he only shot him a look of impatience. Klaus understood Elena would need him by her side but he really didn't want to go back.
As he walked towards the exit, he growled slightly under his breath, "Fine."
Elijah took a seat next to Elena, there hands interlocked, "We'll figure this out."
Elena sat in thought for another long moment, contemplating an eternal life with her soon-to-be husband, she would be nervous saying it out loud but the images she had soaring through her mind where perfect, she could want that.
"Would it be so bad?" She spoke, her voice quite low as she knew the reaction.
"Explain, Elena." Elijah didn't like where this conversation was headed.
"We could be together forever; I'm not saying I'm going to willingly die during the next ritual but instead of everyone panicking and stressing now, would it be so bad if I was to become a vampire?"
Elijah stood up, his back to her as he rubbed his forehead in an attempt to collect himself, "That's not what you truly want, Elena, your humanity is everything to me, I couldn't see you die and lose it."
"I wouldn't lose it, I know who I am and I can fight the changes being a vampire would bring, even if it did take decades, at least we could be together, you'd never have to lose me or see me grow old and lose who I am that way."
"We're not having this discussion tonight, Bonnie will find a spell to fix this and we'll go on to live the life we have planned." Elijah placed a soft kiss on her forehead before exiting into the next room for a few long minutes, trying to process everything that they had spoke off.
Rebekah returned and saw Elena sitting alone, "What happened?"
"Nothing," Elijah spoke as he returned to the main sitting room, standing behind where Elena sat, his hands pressed onto the back of the sofa as he leaned against it.
"Bonnie will be here in 10 minutes, she said she may have something that can help."
"That's good," Elena spoke with as much joy and heart that she could muster up considering her and Elijah's previous conversation.
Once Bonnie arrived, she unpacked her bag and lay out several objects onto the table, including one of her ancestors grimoires.
"There's a spell in here that will unlock Elijah's vampire gene pool from yours, Elena, this should render his blood useless but it's a tricky spell, it may not work." She spoke.
"We'll try anything," Spoke Elijah, a hint of hope in his tone of voice.
Bonnie nodded her head and handed each of them a gauntlet, "These where my grandmas, you both have to spill a bit of blood into them, I'll prepare the rest of the spell."
She had handed Elijah a knife before focusing her attentions the ritual; she laid out 4 black candles, lighting each of them and placed a doll made out of wicker in the centre, this was too act as a talisman to channel her magic into them.
Elijah had sliced into his hand, blood dripping into the bowl before handing the knife to Elena; she couldn't read him and she didn't know what was going through his mind.
She too sliced a small wound into the palm of her hand and allowed the blood to trickle into the bowl; moments later, the wound had healed, definitely confirming the presence of Elijah's blood in her system.
They all stood around the table, Bonnie had took the bowls from each of them and placed them either side of the talisman.
The room went dark as Bonnie began to perform the spell, the only light source being the candles, as she continued to chant, the flames on the candle flickering slowly.
A sudden gush of wind swept over them as the talisman began to singe from a spark of the candle, as it burned, the blood in the both bowls began to boil until it had been reduced to nothing.
The candles went out and the mansion lights came back on; Bonnie had stopped chanting and looked at Elena, "How do you feel?"
"No different really," She shrugged her shoulders slightly, Elijah watched her intently.
Bonnie had picked up the knife she had brought and nicked it into Elena's finger, a sharp breath escaped her lips at the contact and they watched, waiting for it to heal.
It had been a few more minutes but nothing.
"It worked," Elijah spoke, as he took her hand and looked at the pinprick mark on her finger.
"Guess so," Elena looked towards Bonnie and smiled kindly at her, "Thank you, Bon."
"Of course, I can't let my best friend become a vampire." She smiled at her.
"Let's go you up to bed, Elena, it's 4am, you need rest." She nodded her head at Elijah's words; she said goodnight to everyone and retreated to his room, her deep slumber practically instant.
