Elena awoke the next morning at 5am with morning sickness, she'd run a tap and tried to be as quiet as possible as to not wake anybody; it took her an hour to finally be relieved from her sickness.

She had swilled her face with cold water and brushed her teeth thoroughly; she decided to take a cool shower and wash away her temperature, her pregnancy seemed very normal to her, she had all the symptoms of a normal human pregnancy but she knew it wasn't.

She tried to wash away all of her troubles, the cool water still felt warm as it hit her skin and flooded over her; she washed herself with shower gel and conditioned her hair, anything to feel better about herself; she hated being sick.

As she reached out from behind the shower curtain, she couldn't locate her towel; she pulled the curtain back and saw it on the bathroom counter, she rolled her eyes and stepped out, careful not to slip on the tiles.

As she walked towards it, she stopped suddenly when she passed the mirror, her eyes inspecting her reflection; she could have swore she had the tiniest baby bump.

"Elijah!" She yelled, her voice stretching not only into the bedroom but across the whole mansion, "Come quick."

He was up and by her side within seconds, his entire demeanour in defensive mode, "What is it?"

"Look!" She had her hands held around her stomach, pronouncing her tiny baby bump even more, "I have a bump."

Elijah stared at her stomach, a sudden smile appearing on his lips as he placed his hand over her, "Oh my god."

"I know!" She rested her head on his shoulder, "That's our baby."

"That's incredible." They remained in front of the mirror for a short while before they had left the bathroom, Elena never actually managed to get that towel so she was freezing.

Before she dressed, she approached Elijah whom was sitting on the edge of the bed; coming from behind him, she wrapped her arms around him and her hands landed on his chest, she began placing soft kisses along his collar bone and all across his shoulders.

"Elena," He turned around and grabbed her hands, his thumb stroking her skin, "You're pregnant, we can't."

"Why?" She was slightly thrown by his response but she also had to remember he was born in a different time, "It's completely safe, you'll just have to be gentle with me."

She smiled as she bit her lip and moved more into him, her lips landing on his; it took him a few minutes to break free from her grip, she was incredibly hard to resist.

"We shouldn't," He spoke through clenched teeth, wanting nothing more than to ravage her.

"Don't you want me?" She spoke, her tone of voice suddenly changing and a sound of rejection and sadness appearing.

"Of course I do, I always want you," He spoke, pulling her into him, "But you're pregnant, I couldn't harm are child."

"Sweetie, you won't, she's tucked up so safe inside there that nothing can reach her, no matter how well endowed you are," She said playfully, chuckling slightly before kissing him once again, "Just be gentle with me."

They had eventually left the bedroom, they where completely happy and so loved up; they entered the kitchen, Elijah's arms wrapped around her waist from behind as they walked in, they where smiling and laughing and they couldn't let each other go.

"Good morning, lovebirds," Rebekah spoke, a sudden smirk appearing on her lips.

"Good morning to you too," Elena spoke, "And you, Klaus."

"Hello there, Elena," Klaus seemed snarky this morning, his head had been buried in the newspaper he held since they had entered the room.

"What's wrong, brother?" Elijah said, becoming slightly concerned; he was always on guard, especially now he was expecting a child but he knew Klaus too well, something was on his mind.

"The news of the pregnancy is spreading," He placed his newspaper down on the table and looked at them both, "Bonnie texted Rebekah this morning, there are covens just outside of Mystic Falls who have seen that you're pregnant and want to meet you."

"Why do they want to meet me?" Elena clung even more to Elijah, she didn't like the sound of any of this.

"You're carrying a half vampire and half human child, Elena, this is a miracle, everyone wants to see it," Rebekah spoke.

"You will not have to deal with any of this, my love," Elijah turned her around gently to face him, his hands placed onto her face, "I'll kill anyone who tries to get within an inch of you."

"As will I," Klaus spoke.

"And me." Rebekah joined, "Just try not to stress, it's not good for you or the baby."

"I'm supposed to relax?" Elena scoffed, "Sure, I'll relax, all these covens want to meet me and my baby, I wonder what for? I'm sure they're just going to ask what's on our gift registry."

"It's going to get worse before it get's better, i'm afraid," Klaus spoke, his words full of dread and concern, "The news hasn't reached the vampires yet but when it does, they'll probably come too; this is a part vampire baby, they'll fear it and want to know more about it."

"This just keeps on getting better," Elena just shook her head and walked towards the coffee machine, she grabbed a mug from the side and pulled the pot out of the machine, "Wait, did you change this?"

"All regular coffee has been removed from the house and we only stock decaff now," Rebekah smiled towards her.

"Thank god," Even though she wouldn't receive the wake up call she normally would, she needed the routine and pleasure she got from her morning coffee; she poured herself a mug and sat next to Rebekah at the table, Elijah seating next to her.

"We'll handle this, Elena, don't let it cross your mind," Elijah spoke reassuringly, his hand caressing hers.

"Easier said than done," She pursed her lips slightly before taking a sip of her coffee; since falling pregnant, she had felt nothing but this need to protect her baby, it was instinctive and primal, even the thought of harm coming to her sent Elena into a frenzy.

"I know it is but you have to trust that we won't let anything on this earth come near you or our child,"

"I do trust you, of course I do but I'm her mother, she needs me to be strong too," Elena spoke, "I need to talk about something else, I'll start panicking."

"Of course," Elijah responded, he too drinking his coffee.

"Rebekah, last night me and Elijah decided we want to get married as soon as possible, I'm about to text Bonnie and Caroline but we have some major planning to do," Elena could see the excitement erupt on her face at her words.

"I have so many ideas and details I need your approval on, we should go out for lunch, bring the others, we have so much to go over," Rebekah stood from her chair and held her hand towards Elena, she just shrugged her shoulders and took it, she instantly took Elena into the living room.

She had an actual binder of everything they would need in order to plan the perfect wedding; locations, dress, food, guests, bridesmaids, everything!

Elena was just skimming through it, "Some of this is a bit extravagant, Bek, I can't imagine wearing a dress with a train longer than the aisle and 100 guests? I don't even know that many people."

"The dress I'm open to suggestions on but not guests, absolutely not, I'm going to plan the perfect wedding for you, most of these are friends of Elijah's and our families, they'll want to celebrate your marriage too."

She just laughed slightly and placed the binder down, "I'll text Bonnie and Caroline, we'll make our lunch a brunch and head out soon, I can't handle this on my own, I need Bon."

A couple hours had passed, Elena and Rebekah had left the mansion and met Bonnie and Caroline at a cafe in the centre of town; Elena had indulged in quite a bit of food and she was enjoying herself immensely, it felt good to be out of the mansion and back to normal.

She had already filled Caroline in on the pregnancy and moving up the wedding date; they where all convinced they could have it ready by as early as next week, they just needed confirmation from Elijah so they could start sending the invites.

They had spent a good 2-3 hours discussing all of the details, Elena was happy with most of the decisions she had came too and hoped Elijah would feel the same; Rebekah was convinced he wouldn't say no to anything Elena wanted, he was completely devoted to her.

"Let's get back, Elijah will be freaking out," Elena chuckled slightly before they all stood from the chairs and began to exit the cafe.

Once they had stepped outside, Elena paused to glance around the surrounding area; she was some women that seemed out of place, there eyes all staring at her, "We should go quickly."

"Elena Gilbert?" An unfamiliar voice spoke from the right side of her, as she turned to look at her, she had walked in front of her; Rebekah and Caroline where now in front of her and Bonnie by her side.

"Who wants to know?" Rebekah said as she folded her arms across her chest, ready to attack.

"My name is Sara, I'm from a coven based in Alexandria," She spoke, her voice appearing kind; she was only small, maybe 5'5 and a brunette.

"What do you want?" Caroline spat.

"We heard about your pregnancy, we have information you may want to hear."

"You're lying," Rebekah stepped forward and there faces only inches away, "You should leave."

"It's important," Elena didn't want to believe her words but she didn't seem to have an agenda other than to inform her, "About 200 years ago, a woman had also been impregnated by a vampire."

"Wait, is your coven leader a witch by the name of Ruth?" Bonnie spoke out, leaving Elena's side and walking in front of the blonde vampires.

"Yes," She responded, "How did you know?"

"I called her and asked for information, she knew my grandma, I'm Bonnie Bennett," She smiled kindly towards the witch.

"Well, this all makes sense now, we where sent in the middle of the night to travel to Mystic Falls and find Elena Gilbert to give her any information she needs; Ruth then told of us this human who had become impregnated by a vampire."

"We should go back to the mansion," Elena emerged from behind the girls, standing between them, "I really want to hear what you have to say, please come with us."

"Of course."

They arrived back at a short while later; Elena had to fill Elijah and the others in on the appearance of the witch, they didn't like it nor did they trust her but even Elijah couldn't deny that a bit of information could be useful.

Elena had made a pot of tea and returned into the living room with several cups; she had a decaff and the rest had poured themselves a cup of tea, they where watching Sara like a hawk in case of any sudden attacks, as nice as she seems, she could also be lying.

"So, Sara, tell us what you know," Klaus stood within a close proximity of her, not enough to smother but enough to reach her before she could get to Elena.

"All Ruth told me was 2 centuries ago, there was a witch called Ella, she had fell in love with a vampire; she was completely devoted to him, she wanted to be with him forever but she also had a desire to have a family with him, she sought out her coven and begged for there help in casting a spell that could make him fertile, the only way they could see it working was to perform a spell that would make him human; it was successful and she fell pregnant."

"What happened after that?" Asked Elena as she continued to sip at her coffee, intrigued by the story.

"The pregnancy was quick, she was only about 5 months along when she conceived a healthy baby boy," She paused slightly but only because she saw a sense of relief from Elena, "I'm sorry, I don't mean to give you a false sense of hope because the next part is the bad news; Ella was a mess, the baby had grown so large that she haemorrhaged, the pregnancy itself had consumed her life force, he was a demanding fetus due to the rapid growth and once he was born, Ella didn't make it."

"So, if Elena is to go through with this pregnancy then she could die?" Asked Bonnie, everyone else was silent trying to process the information and the thought of her dying, Bon was the only one could speak.

"There's a good chance, yes," Responded Sara, "I mean, I'm not 100% sure, there are a lot of different circumstances, we have hospitals and modern medicine now, Ella had to endure a painful birth process with just one of her sister witches."

"What happened to her baby?" Elena asked, breaking her silence; she did not care for herself anymore, only the life and wellbeing of her unborn child.

"He lived for many years, well beyond a century, it wasn't until about 5 decades ago that he was killed by a pack of wolves."

"He's a vampire?" Elena asked.

"And human, the two different species played well with each other; he was given immortality and no blood cravings, he lived a rather normal life with his father; that is until his father dove into the dark side once again, taking his son with him, they where hunting a pack of wolves for sport and they had lost, they where bitten and died a slow and painful death."

"Oh my god," Elena didn't know what else to say, she had been given so much information to process.

"I know, it's a rather complicated story, as Ruth was telling me, I was shocked," Sara admitted, "One last piece of information; Ruth wanted me to warn you, the baby you're going to have is going to be extremely powerful, it will hold the power to change the lives of many people but evil is also very much within it, the vampires will want to worship it and the witches will want to harness it's powers."

"What stopped the last hybrid baby from falling evil?" Elijah asked.

"His mother," She turned to face Elijah, "She was given vampire blood before the birth, they stayed together for a century until her partner had killed her, once he saw true evil, he succumbed to it with his father out of necessity, he had nowhere else to go, just be careful."

"Thank you for all your help, you've been so kind," Elena spoke, before shooting her a warm smile, "Bonnie has your number, can we call if we have any questions?"

"Of course, I hope all goes well for you, Elena." She held out her hand and Elena took it, engaging in a small handshake.

Elena watched her leave whilst Bonnie saw her out; she didn't know where to begin with any of the information she had just received, she didn't want to believe her child could be evil, she felt her within her stomach and the bond she had already formed with her, she wasn't evil; she had also said that the vampire and human parts of her would go well together.

She and Elijah had exited the main house and went to sit outside; they hadn't spoke right away, she was just resting her head on his shoulder as they both stared off into the distance, there minds wandering.

"That was a lot of information," Elena broke the silence, "What are you thinking about it all?"

"I don't know where to begin," Elijah responded, a small sigh escaping his lips, "I don't want you to die giving birth."

"I won't," Out of everything that Sara had said, that was the one thing she hadn't thought about much, she would happily die if it meant she could bring their child into the world, "We have so much technology and medicine now that it would be nearly impossible for me to die."

"I hope so," He said, "I'm not worried about our child being evil, are you?"

"Of course not, she already has the most honourable and noble father I've ever met, you'll teach her what's right,"

"And you have the biggest heart and the most compassion I've seen in a human being in the entire thousand years I've been alive,"

"See? There isn't an ounce of evil in us so I can't see why she would have any." Elena reassured, her hand now on top of his.

"I do worry about when word spreads of your pregnancy," Elijah admitted, "Already there is a coven of witches that is aware and when the vampires find out, they could come here."

"3 original vampires, 3 normal vampires, a powerful witch and a very protective mother, they don't stand a chance," She smirked slightly, trying to relieve some of the tension.

"I'm aware of our arsenal but I still don't want you to see any of this, especially now."

"I understand," Elena responded as she moved her hand up to his face, her fingers stroking his cheek and playing with the ends of his hair, "But I'll do anything for our family."

"Maybe we should leave, find somewhere safe and quiet to live for now? At least until everything calms down."

"I can't just leave, this baby has a huge family already; Jeremy can't wait to be an Uncle and my friends are so excited to meet her, same for your siblings, we can't just go away."

Deep down, Elijah knew she was right but he would dread what was to come.
