It was 12:45pm and Elena was ready; they had done her make-up to perfection, her skin looked flawless with foundation and powder covering it with a shimmery touch, her eyes had eyeliner drew on and curved upwards with a gold eyeshadow making her eyes pop, her mascara made her eyelashes look long and thick and there was a light pink blush contouring her face.
Her her was styled with long drop curls and a small bun braided into the centre of her head for the veil and the blue pin.
Her dress was strapless and mostly consisted of a lace and floral bodice that had an elegant diamante stitched into the pattern, the lace lead into the white bottom of her dress and followed through to the small train that followed behind her, her veil falling down her back. The bouquet consisted of white roses with green leaves and the bottom of them wrapped in silk.
"Elena, you look beautiful," Spoke Bonnie and Caroline and Bonnie completely agreed, for the next five minutes, they pretty much just spoke about how perfect she looked.
Bonnie was wearing a champagne-gold type of colour maid of honour dress; the bodice was laced and glittery and the bottom tucked nicely into her body, it was made of silk and it fell down to her feet.
Caroline and Rebekah where wearing silver bridesmaid dresses; the design was elegant, the bodice had a high neckline and wrapped around there necks, the lace stopped at there centre and the bottom fell to there feet, those dresses where to made from silk.
They heard a knock on the door and Caroline ran straight to it and opened it slightly, Elena heard Klaus speaking on the other side, "Everything is ready for Elena."
Her heart began to race at his words, her emotions where everywhere; she was excited, nervous, happy, overwhelmed and eager.
Caroline turned around to face Elena, "It's time."
They all smiled and acted giddy for a long moment, they couldn't believe it was finally time.
Bonnie, Caroline and Rebekah all exited the room in that order, Elena followed behind them and they all walked down the stairs; the grooms where waiting at the bottom, Tyler was going to walk Bonnie down the aisle, Klaus would walk Caroline and Matt walked with Rebekah; they all linked arms and began to walk through the hallway that lead to the exit of the house that lead to the garden
Jeremy waited at the bottom for Elena, it was fitting that he be the one to give her away, she had no doubt about this decision, "I can't believe you're getting married,"
"I know," She smiled kindly towards him, "I'm glad you're here, Jer."
"You kidding? I wouldn't miss it," She linked his arm and they began to walk through the mansion.
Everyone had been seated, the final guest was 80 in total and Elena didn't know most of them; she knew Elijah had been around for a long time but she was surprised at the turn out.
She stood on the porch behind the others and the music began to play; there was a grand piano to the side of the wedding area and he began to play 'here comes the bride.'
Elena couldn't believe how everything looked, the chairs had white bows tied on the back and had been decorated with roses and white padding on the seat, there was large vases filled with flowers besides each aisle of seats and blue thick fabric linking them all and there was a large archway on either end of the aisle laced with ivy, roses and ribbons, it was perfect.
Once the others had took there places at the alter, all the guests stood up and turned to stare at Elena; her heart began to race, she was so nervous being the centre of attention, especially considering she didn't know at least half of the guests.
She began to walk down the steps on the porch that lead to the aisle, everyone was smiling so kindly towards her with admiring eyes, she looked beautiful.
She suddenly felt a wave of calmness wash over her when she saw him.
His lips instantly curled into a wide and loving smile when Elijah laid eyes on his bride, her eyes instantly locked onto his and it was as if there was no-one else in the area, her heart was racing for all other reasons now; excitement and love mainly, she couldn't wait to marry him.
Once they reached the end of the aisle, Jeremy gave her a quick kiss on the cheek and released her arm, leading her to Elijah; a smile hadn't left her lips the entire time. She stood in front of him, her hands wrapped around the bouquet.
The officiant was Alaric; a decision she came to quite easily, he was the only fatherly figure she had left in her life and Elijah had the upmost respect for him, there was mutual understanding and it only took him 15 minutes to become official online, it was perfect.
As Alaric began to speak, everyone sat down and all eyes where on him, "We're here today to join these two people in marriage. Elena Gilbert and Elijah Mikaelson."
They both instantly smiled when he spoke those words.
"Marriage is the promise between two people who love each other, and who trust in that love, who honour each other as individuals and choose to spend the rest of there lives together. This ceremony will not create a relationship that does not already exist between you. It is a symbol of how far you've already come. It is a symbol of the promises you make to each other to continue to grow stronger. No matter what challenges you face, you now face them together, and no matter how much you succeed, you now succeed together, the love between you now joins you as one."
His words brought warmth to the hearts of everyone in the garden, some where crying, others where fighting back the tears; Elena and Elijah just continued to stare lovingly into each others eyes.
"The bride and groom have prepared vows, Elijah could you read yours now." Alaric spoke, a smile shot towards him.
"Elena, I've waited for you my entire life, you bring me so much hope and happiness, something I thought that was completely out of reach and undeserving but everyday spent with you brings me that little bit closer to a life of redemption and completeness. I'll be eternally grateful for everything you have taught me and have shown me. I've never felt so lucky. I promise to tell you and show you every single day for the rest of our lives just how much you mean to me, if words or actions can even describe the way I feel about you, you're my soulmate."
Elena's heart was racing at his words, single tears rolling from each of her eyes.
"Elena, could you read yours now," Alaric spoke once again.
"Elijah, my whole life I've felt different, completely afraid of my own shadow and out of place; the day I met you was the day I found myself, you've shown me things I thought I'd never see, made me felt things I thought didn't exist and gave me the chance to a life of complete happiness. I miss you when you're gone and I love you more with every day that passes, I'll never be able to get enough of you. I promise to always do right by you and our family, and no matter what we face, we face it together and I'll always be by your side."
Elena's words hit Elijah hard, he'd never thought in the thousand years he had walked this earth that a woman as pure as Elena would ever feel that way about him.
Everyone was practically crying now, especially the girls.
"Do we have the rings?" Alaric addressed the maid of honour and best man.
Bonnie opened her small clutch bag and pulled out the ring, passing it to Elena; Klaus did the same with Elijah.
"Do you, Elijah, take Elena to be your lawfully wedded wife? To have and too hold, top love and cherish, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, for better or worse for as long as you both shall live?"
"I do," A wide smile appeared on his lips.
"And do you, Elena, take Elijah to be your lawfully wedded husband? To have and too hold, too love and cherish, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, for better or worse for as long as you both shall live?"
"I do," Tears began to roll down her eyes once more as they both placed the rings on each others fingers.
"By the power vested in me by the internet, I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may now kiss the bride."
Elena and Elijah smiled so happily before he pulled her into him, his arms wrapped around her back and hers around his neck as he placed a passionate kiss on her lips.
The guests all stood from there chairs; they began to clap there hands and cheer, there was so much excitement in the air, Elena felt truly blessed.
"We did it," Elena pulled mere centimetres away from his lips, "We actually did it."
"I love you so much, Mrs. Mikaelson."
"I love you too, Mr. Mikaelson," They continued to kiss once again.
The musician on the piano began to play the wedding march once again as they began to walk back down the aisle, all the bridesmaids and groomsmen following behind. Elena and Elijah where hand-in-hand as they passed there guests, smiling to each of them; Elijah had shook the hands of several of them and Elena hugging those she knew from school or her town.
Once they had entered the mansion again; it had completely changed.
Bonnie had said that she hired several people to change the scenery ready for the party but it went above and beyond; there was so much food in the kitchen, there was a large sound system set up in the hallway and the furniture in the living room had all been pushed aside to make room for the guests, the room was so much bigger than she originally thought, the wedding cake was on a table outside in the garden where the party would be able to stretch too to accommodate all the guests and the decorations where beautiful. The balloon arch from her wedding shower was still up but there was more vases filled with flowers, there was a whole table dedicated just to alcohol and finger foods.
"Bonnie, this is amazing, thank you for doing all this." Elena spoke before hugging her best friend.
"That was the most beautiful ceremony ever, Elena, I can't stop crying, I'm so happy for you."
Once they entered the mansion and the guests had all began to enter and form groups, Klaus went to the sound system and took the mic from the table.
"Congratulations to my brother and his new bride, Elena. Welcome to the family, love," He raised his whiskey in honour of them, a cheeky smirk plastered on his lips, "Too Elijah and Elena, I wish you all the happiness,"
"Thank you, Klaus," Elena mouthed to him, he nodded his head in response before taking a sip of his whiskey.
The afternoon carried on, the guests where dancing and Elena and Elijah where mingling, she had met a lot of Elijah's friends, some of them where distant family and cousins and she was happy to have met them. Elijah had been intrigued by all of her guests and enjoyed meeting them.
She had gone up to change out of her wedding dress and into a black party dress; it was a slimline dress with lace straps and a pair of black heels, very simple yet completely elegant, they had cut the cake and everyone had took a piece.
Elena found herself sitting on the kitchen table with the immediate family; Elijah, Jeremy, Alaric, Bonnie, Caroline, Klaus and Rebekah, they where all sitting around laughing and talking, they still couldn't believe they where married, they where all so happy for them.
Everything was perfect.
Once the evening started to come, Elena began to become feeling tired, she'd barely sat down all day; they had made the decision to turn in for the night. Most of her guests had already left and the only remaining where the vampires, witches and supernatural beings Elijah had invited.
They stood up on the sound system and grabbed the mics.
"I want to personally thank each and everyone of you for being with us today, it meant a lot to us that you came. Please stay and enjoy this incredible party my wife's family have prepared," Elijah spoke before taking Elena's hand, when he called her his wife, her heart began to race.
"I've had such an amazing day, marrying the man of my dreams, spending it with my family and meeting all of you incredible people, thank you all for coming," Elena said before they both placed there mics on the table.
"So, you ready to take me up to bed, Mr. Mikaelson?" Elena smiled cheekily before kissing him softly.
"Not just yet," He spoke, a slight tone of mystery in his voice, "Remember I told you I had prepared a surprise for you earlier this morning?"
Elena was baffled, "Yeah?"
"Well, it's waiting for us," He extended his arm towards her and used his other hand to gesture towards the front door.
"What did you do?" She asked, a nervous smile forming on her lips as she took his arm and walked towards the door with him.
"Well, that would just ruin the surprise," He smirked playfully at her before opening the door.
"I'm intrigued," She looked outside, her lips parted at the sight; there was a white car with ribbons attached and sign that read 'just married', "Oh my god."
"After you, my love," He opened the door for her and before she stepped inside, she waved to everyone and then took a seat.
Elijah closed the door after her and used his speed to get to the other side and sit beside her.
The car began to drive and Elena looked out the window, she had no clue where they where going but she didn't want to pry and ruin the surprise.
She turned to face him and rested her head on his shoulder, "Today has been the best day of my life."
"I feel incredibly fortunate to call you my wife, Elena, this has been the best time of my existence."
They just sat in silence for a short while, Elena was enjoying just being near him, Elijah too but in the end, she had to ask, "Where are we going?"
"We're here now," He smiled, a couple of minutes later the car had stopped and pulled into a driveway, "I'm your husband, Elena, I want to do everything I possibly can for you, to love you, to protect you and to honour you for the rest of my days,"
The tears began to roll down her cheeks once again.
"I didn't particularly want to spend our wedding night in my families mansion so it got me thinking," He opened the car door and used his speed once again to open her door, "We're going to be a family, we need more."
He extended his arm and offered his hand, she took it and stepped out of the car; she looked up and saw the most perfect house.
"Elijah.." She spoke but her cut her sentence short.
"We're going to be a family, Elena, I want to provide for us all, I bought us this house so we can actually live together as man and wife," They began to walk towards it.
It was perfect; there was a large front garden with trees and plenty of flowers and bushes, a white picket fence and the house had been freshly painted, it was white with a grey roof and grey window panes, door and the roof on the porch was grey too, the decking was a light shade of brown, there was columns all around it and was big.
"5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 living rooms, a large dining room and kitchen and plenty of land to the back," He spoke, giving the quick jist, "This is the only house on this land within 3 miles, I wanted a private and secluded location for us, so we could live in peace but still not be too far from everyone you care about."
"I can't believe this," She was speechless, she didn't know what to say or do, all she could do was smile and jump on him, embracing him as tightly as she could, "This is ours?"
"Completely," He lifted her from the ground and kissed her.
"This is perfect," She placed lots of soft kisses on his face, "You're perfect."
"Want the tour?" He spoke.
"Yes!" She went to land back onto her feet but he had spun her and landed her into a cradling position in his arms.
"Right this way, Mrs. Mikaelson," She laughed at his words as he carried her towards the house.
"Why thank you, Mr. Mikaelson," They both continued to chuckle as they approached the double door entrance; Elijah pushed the key into the lock and turned it, kicking both the doors open, he carried her over the threshold and spun her slightly.
"Welcome home, Elena, I hope you like it," He spoke, a smile appearing on his lips.
"I love it," She kissed him once again, "Anywhere is home with you."
He carried her into the first living room; there was two black sofas and two arm chairs, carefully placed around a coffee table in the centre, there was a large bookcase on wall of the room and a television set up on the other; there was artwork on each wall and vases of flowers everywhere. The windows where large and would let a lot of natural light in and they where draped in silver curtains that fell to the floor.
He took her into the next sitting room which consisted of several small white sofas, more artwork and flowers and more bookcases; there was a desk in the corner and a space for her to have a computer set up, this looked to be a reading and relaxing room.
There was a double door entrance that lead to the kitchen and dining room area, it was huge; so much cupboard and counter space, all appliances where built in and fitted and there was a breakfast bar that lead off the counters fully equipped with stools and a window overlooking the garden. There was a large island in the centre of the kitchen fitted with more cupboard space, all kitchen utensils and necessities fully stocked.
Under and archway lead to the dining area where there was large, solid wood table and 6 chairs placed around it, neatly tucked under.
Elena was in complete awe, she had never dreamed she could live in a home such as this one.
He took her into the hallway, the first bathroom was hidden away under the stairs; it was small and more practical.
He carried her up the stairs and lead her straight to the master bedroom; it was huge, there was a queen size, four poster bed in the centre draped in white netting and covered in luxury bedding; there was a dressing table, wardrobes, drawers, a television in the corner and on the other side, there was a sofa, a table and a walk in wardrobe, it was homely but it looked like something that belonged in a luxury hotel.
"What do you think?" Elijah spoke.
She had no words, all she could do was show her appreciation with a forceful and passionate kiss; he lead her to the bed and lay her gently down on it, placing small kisses all along her neck and chest.
"I love you," She spoke as she wrapped herself up in him, her legs entangled in his, "Forever."
"I love you too, Elena, forever."
