When they entered the crypt, they saw a fire burning in the centre with several witches all stood around it; Marcel had joined them, Elijah and Elena stayed a short distance away and Klaus stood in front of her.

"This is Sophie Deveraux, she's the witch who looked into the future and saw only evil from this child," Marcel spoke, his voice serious with hints of fear.

"That's impossible," Klaus spat, his voice turning menacing, "I should kill you for these claims alone."

Elena shook her head at his words and without really thinking, she stepped away from Elijah and moved past Klaus, approaching the burning fire and standing before Sophie, "What did you see?"

As much as Elena wanted to believe this was all a lie, she knew she needed answers and even if this was all fabricated, she had to know why they where so interested in her baby.

"I saw hybrids, a lot of them," she approached Elena, "not being lead by Klaus but they answered only to your child; there was carnage in the streets and no-one was safe."

"That's not my child," Elena glanced to her stomach for a brief moment before flickering back to Sophie once more, "that's not what I feel, I feel only love and pure magic."

"Magic?" Sophie questioned, her head tilting to one side, "why would you say magic?"

"I only meant-" she paused momentarily to look at Elijah, his face full of confusion and caution, "That she feels magical."

"She?" Sophie repeated as she looked to her coven; they all looked at each other and then back to Elena, "are you certain you're having a girl?"

"Well, it's not confirmed but I just somehow know," she shrugged her shoulders lightly, questioning why it mattered at all.

"May I?" Sophie raised her hand towards Elena's stomach; she looked over to Elijah who had walked closer towards her before nodding his head agreement.

Sophie placed both of her hands on Elena's bump, her eyes closing for a few long minutes; the flame behind her had seemed to have enlarged and burning brighter than before with sparks flying from it. A sudden breeze of wind passed around the room and encircled both Sophie and Elena.

Everything seemed to be fine; the tension in the air started to lift and Elena felt hopeful but all that came to a sudden end when small sparks started to radiate around Sophies hands, sudden electric charges flung her to the back of the crypt, she hit the stone wall and fell to the ground with a thud.

The witches all knelt down beside her; they had two fingers placed in the crease of her neck searching for a pulse; they all stood up except one and spoke, "she's alive."

"I swear I don't know how that happened," Elena began to defend herself as the witches and Marcel began to become hostile, "I didn't do anything."

Elijah and Klaus where in front of Elena once again; Marcel was watching them closely, his gaze flickered between the witches and they just nodded there heads, "does this clearly not mean your child is evil?"

"Repeat those words again, I dare you," Elijah had grew impatient; as much as he too was confused about the entire situation, he knew his child wasn't evil.

"Or you'll do what?" It was almost starting to seem like Marcel was trying to drive Elijah to attack, "we have a deal, Elijah, Elena stays here."

"You're insane if you think I'd ever allow that too happen," he smirked even at the notion of it; Marcel gritted his teeth as he stepped back, the witches moving forward.

"Do it," as Marcel spoke, the witches began to chant; Elijah took Elena by the waist and tried to speed out of there, not only would the door not open but Klaus and Elijah had suddenly began to scream out in pain, there hands pressed against there own heads whilst they fell slowly to there knees.

Elena instantly knelt down beside Elijah, offering any kind of help or comfort she could provide considering magic was involved, "stop!"

There screaming intensified as the spell progressed, she'd never felt so powerless; as she looked between Elijah and Klaus she began to become overwhelmed, all she could do was watch. Anger began to flood her, she looked to Marcel who had a grin of pleasure plastered across his lips and the witches weren't stopping, she couldn't help but let rage and emotion overcome her.

A light began to emit from her hands, her lips parted at the sight of it; she held her hands up slightly, her eyes widened as the light grew brighter and brighter until it washed over the room, Marcel and the witches where crying out in pain as the light hit them.

There magic had stopped and Marcel was incapacitated; Elijah quickly grabbed Elena and they all fled, escaping the cemetery in a heartbeat and straight back to the hotel.

When they arrived, they waited outside when Elijah had sensed vampires lurking around the entrance, at least 10 of them, "we can't fight them in public, there's too many eyes watching us."

"What else are we supposed to do, Elijah?" Klaus argued.

"We need to get out of here," He grabbed onto Elena once again and sped off, his brother following behind him; he had no idea where to go or what to do, his mind was on overload and his panic overcoming him.

They stopped just outside of the airport.

"We can't keep running," Elena scanned the area, spotting a bench just outside of the entrance; she sat down and placed her head in her hands, "what's happening to me? What did I do?"

Elijah saw the fear in her eyes, a single teardrop rolled down her cheek, he took her hands into his, "I don't know, my love, I promise you we'll figure it out."

"I'm scared it's dangerous," She paused for a minute, her mind scattered, "what if this effects the baby?"

"I know," A small sigh escaped Elijah's lips, his head now leaning against hers, "I'm scared also, we will figure this out."

"We have to leave," Klaus' eyes had diverted to the main road, a car pulled up and 3 large men had exited the vehicle, "Marcel has them tracking us, we have to go."

"Do we have time to get the jet?" Elijah questioned, spouting any idea that came to mind.

"We can certainly try."

They all raced into the airport, moving and pushing past the crowds; Elena was exhausted, she could barely keep the pace and she could tell they where slowing them down, she kept looking back, watching the vampires chase them down; she was thankful for the large crowds, they wouldn't attack or take her in the public eye.

They went straight to the airport hangar at the back, there where several pilots talking at the entrance, Klaus immediately went to them and began to compel them; he locked his eyes onto there's, there pupils dilated as he began to speak in a low tone, "there's has been a change in your flight schedule-"

"Elijah!" Elena had seen the vampires approaching, 3 had turned to 7 and they where closing in; he looked towards Elena and Klaus before using his speed, he took two of them and disappeared out of sight.

Elena heard screams coming from behind her; she turned around and Elijah had reappeared, his hands soaked in blood as he moved towards the others, he was trying to be as hidden as possible considering how public this space was.

"-we need transporting immediately, you can't ask questions and we need too hurry," Klaus had finished the compulsion. The pilot had nodded his head and instantly ran to his jet, he opened the door and the stairs where coming down.

Everything happened so fast, he was like a blur, even Elena could barely see; she edged closer to Klaus as Elijah had disabled 3 more vampires, they all lay on the ground with holes in there chest.

As she neared Klaus, the space between them becoming smaller, one had suddenly appeared in front of her, his hand gripping her neck; mere seconds later, she watched as he gasped and stared at her, his grip loosening as his body became limp, when he fell Elijah was stood there, his heart in his hand, "the plane is ready, come on."

Klaus had taken out the last vampire and Elijah had put Elena on the plane, the two brothers stood at the base of the stairs; the engine began to start, the noise was loud and the wind was powerful.

"We can't leave the bodies here," Elijah shouted, trying to be louder than the noise.

"What are we supposed to do with them?" Klaus responded, "we can't take them with us."

"We have too," Using his speed, Elijah began to collect the bodies and throw them in the cargo hold. Klaus reluctantly helped.

They joined Elena on the plane; she was pacing up and down the aisle, relief washing over her when she seen the two brothers get on the plane and the door close behind her, "I'm so glad you're both okay."

"We're fine," Elijah quickly pulled her into a tight embrace, his fingers entangling around the ends of her her hair, "I'm so sorry you're involved in this, we never should have came here."

The jet began to take off, it raced down the runway and lifted into the air; they all had took a seat, mostly trying to regain there strength and process everything that had happened. Elena was lost in thought as she stared out of the window, replaying the events of the night over and over again in her mind, trying to find any logical explanation as to what happened in the crypt.

"I wonder why Sophie was so confused by our baby possibly being a girl.." she pondered, "I can't help but think why it's so important."

"I'm not sure," Elijah responded honestly, wishing he had all the answers so he could put her mind at ease, "as soon as we're home, we'll find Bonnie, I believe she may be able to find the answers we need."

Elena remained quiet, unsure of what to say, everything that happened was starting to take a toll on her; in that moment, all she wanted to do was rest her head on Elijah's shoulder and be near him, it had felt like it had been so long since they actually had been close, she embraced every moment she had of this.

His hand found its way to her head, his fingers running through her hair in attempt to be there for her; he felt like he was failing her and there child, his worst fears manifesting right in front of him.

Mystic Falls.

An hour had passed and they where already landing back in Mystic Falls; Elena had dozed off for most of the flight, as exhausted as she was, she was happy to be home. She knew they probably wouldn't be safe for long but this at least this gave them time to regroup, try and find some answers that she had been searching for, for the entire duration of her pregnancy.

Klaus had contacted several of his hybrids to handle the bodies in the cargo; the pilot had been instructed to wait and forget everything he saw, everything seemed to be working out so far.

They had jumped in a taxi parked outside the airport and went straight to the mansion; the journey was mostly silent, everyone was exhausted and needed rest. Elena had already texted everyone to meet at the mansion, most of the responses where in relief to her being safe, they left immediately, eager to see them.

They had never been so happy to see the mansion as they pulled up in front of it; Elijah handed the cab driver a $50 note and they all climbed out of the vehicle. As soon as Elena was inside the mansion, she went straight to the kitchen; she made herself a pot of coffee and began to raid the fridge.

"I'm sorry," she smiled slightly, imagining what she must look like to others, "I'm starving, I keep forgetting to eat and it's important."

She made herself a quick sandwich and grabbed her coffee; she entered the living quarters and sat herself onto the sofa, eating and drinking happily until everyone else joined them.

They began to arrive one-by-one; Caroline had entered first, instantly jumping on Elena out of happiness, The Salvatore's next then Bonnie.

When Rebekah arrived, she was quiet and full of guilt, she didn't know how to approach her brothers and Elena, scared they would condemn her for what had happened.

Elena lifted herself from the sofa and went straight to her, her arms wrapping around her shoulders and pulling her into a hug, she could feel Rebekah relax, "it's not your fault, no-one blames you."

"I do, I blame myself," she returned Elena's hug, "You where taken right under my nose, if anything had happened to you I wouldn't have been able to forgive myself."

"Nothing happened to me and it's not your fault, so stop feeling guilty and let's just move past this, we're family," they pulled away from there hug and smiled kindly towards each other, she was grateful Elena had forgiven her.

They both sat down on the sofa, followed by Bonnie and Caroline, The Salvatore's stood beside them as Klaus and Elijah began to catch everyone up on the events in New Orleans; everyone was mostly shocked by what had happened, they had no answers and no plan moving forward, all would seem lost.
