Hmm, I think today should be when I publish the second one, but before I do, let's see how well the first one did. *checks stats* Let's see, we got 2 favorites, 2 follows, 1 review, and 0 views. Mmm, yes, very good FanFiction. I didn't know it was possible to favorite, follow, or review a story without giving it a view. Totally not broken.
Star stared in horror at the scene before her. Marco, her best friend, her crush, had just been killed right in front of her; crushed by a piece of rubble the size of a truck from the ruined castle around them. Today was supposed to be the day she confessed to him. She was at least 80% sure he liked her back, after all.
Then Toffee attacked out of nowhere, brushing off the attacks of the soldiers and making his way directly to Star and Marco, who had been enjoying a picnic in the castle gardens prior to his arrival. They were both already donned in battle gear, no doubt thanks to Star's wand, prepared to fight off the lizard. But he had some magic of his own apparently, if the massive explosion he caused was any indication. Most of the castle was destroyed, with rubble flying everywhere, and Marco had been unlicky enough to be directly in the path of one of the largest pieces.
Star glanced up at the lizard, who had a hint of mischief in his eyes, as though he had simply pulled an April Fools prank rather than a murder. Judging by the sinister glare that was also present, he had planned this out; somehow using his newfound magical power to manipulate the explosion to kill her best friend. But the question was why he didn't just kill them both and be done with it.
"Hello, princess," he teased, grinning with pure malice, knowing he had the upper hand. Star was too shocked and upset to speak, however. Toffee sensed this, and continued.
"If you don't want to meet the same fate as your boyfriend there, you'll hand me the wand and walk away," he said. This seemed to snap Star out of her daze, and she began to glare daggers at the lizard. Toffee wasn't deterred in the slightest. The unmistakable trail of tears running down her cheeks made it clear he had gotten to her.
Star tightened her grip on the wand, ready to fight with everything she had. She looked Toffee straight in the eye. "I will never let you have this wand. And I will make you pay for what you did to Marco."
Toffee's smile faded into a mildly disappointed frown. "Hm. What a shame," he said, as though he had spilled a half full cup of tea. "I guess I'll have to take it by force then."
Toffee raised his right hand, and what he was holding made Star freeze. It was another wand, just like hers. The magic crystal part of the wand was a neon green skull, and it was held in place by what looked like poisonous thorns around some bones. The handle looked like a larger bone that was coal black, and had an onyx gemstone at the hilt.
The crystal began to glow a deep purple as he aimed it directly at her, and the spell he uttered made her blood run cold. "Withering Nightmare."
Star barely had time to dodge the spell, watching as the pile of rubble it hit turned coal black before crumbling to dust and blowing away in the wind. This wasn't good. She needed time to think if a plan, because there was no way she could beat Toffee like this. She heard Toffee begin muttering another spell, and cast a spell on impulse.
"Null Sphere!"
Toffee watched, intrigued, as a black circle surrounded Star right before his spell hit, nullifying the spell before it could reach her. He paused for a moment, walking around her, and watched as this 'null sphere' spell appeared to be a flat, two-dimensional black circle regardless of the angle.
"My, my, that is quite the interesting spell, Princess Butterfly," he said. Toffee swiped his tail at her suddenly and watched it phase through as if the shield wasn't there at all, knocking Star off her feet. He looked down at her with a smirk full of malice. "Unfortunately, spells like that always have a drawback. This one seems to block magical attacks only." Toffee raised his foot, ready to crush her with it, but she rolled out of the way, causing the smirk to fall a little.
Then a bright flash of light blinded him temporarily, and when his vision cleared, Star wasn't there anymore. When another flash of light appeared in the distance, he turned towards it, to see Star there, in the remains of her room, jumping through a portal with the spell book. Toffee frowned; for all the power his wand held, it was no pair of dimensional scissors.
"Run, little Butterfly, run to your heart's content. You cannot hide forever; I will find you soon enough."

Star fell through the portal into her old room in the Diaz household, making sure to close the portal so Toffee couldn't follow her through. Not wasting any time, she set the book down in front of her and opened it up. "Glossaryck! I need your help!"
"You rang?" Glossaryck appeared from the book, and took note of Star's appearance. Her hair was disheveled and a mess, she was still wearing her battle armor which was dusty and worn, and she still had visible tear streaks on her face. "Did something happen?"
"Toffee attacked. The castle's destroyed and Marco's dead and do you have any spells I can use to save him?"
"Hmm…" Glossaryck seemed to think about this for a moment, before snapping his fingers. "No I do not!" He exclaimed cheerily.
"Glossaryck this is serious!"
"And so am I," he said. "Once a person's dead there's no way to bring them back, unless you're okay with having them as a mindless zombie."
That was not what Star wanted to hear. That was the exact opposite of what she wanted to hear. "So… there's really nothing I can do?"
"Well, I didn't say that. You can't bring Marco back to life, but you can go back and prevent his death before it even happens," he explained, "with a time travel spell."
"Please teach me the spell Glossaryck and I promise you I'll give you more pudding than you could ever eat!" Star begged.
"That is impossible. I can always eat more pudding! But I will teach you the spell anyway." Star sighed in relief, then began to listen intently. "There are two spells actually; one sends you forward and the other sends you back. Now listen carefully because I'm only going to say this once.
"To travel forwards in time, you must spin around clockwise thrice and repeat the following: 'let me stop the tomb of sorrow, send me now to overmorrow.' This will send you forwards in time exactly 48 hours," he said. "And to go back in time, spin around counterclockwise thrice and repeat the following: 'Give me strength and show me the way, send me to ereyesterday.' This spell will send you backwards 48 hours. You got all that?"
"Yes," Star said. "Thank you Glossaryck, you've been surprisingly helpful."
"I live to serve, milady."
"I'm coming for you, Marco," she whispered. Star held her wand out, spinning around counterclockwise and uttered the spell. When she had finished, she vanished in a flash of light.
"Good luck, Princess."
Almost immediately after, another portal opened up nearby, and Toffee stepped through, now with his own pair of dimensional scissors he had found in the castle ruins. He looked at Glossaryck, eyeing him with contempt. "Where is Princess Butterfly?"
"Mm, you just missed her. She was right here two days ago."
"Don't toy with me you pudding addict; where is Princess Butterfly?!" He threatened.
"Oh, would you look at the time, I must be going now," Glossaryck said, retreating into the book and flying off before Toffee could do anything about it. The lizard growled; furious that his prey had so easily escaped.
Looks like we've got a multi-parter already, folks! Also yay, I got around to adding the cover image now. For now I don't really have a set schedule for when I'll be posting these; it'll just be when I finish them for now but I'll try to get at least one out each week. Also I had forgotten FanFiction operates off of Pacific Time instead of Eastern so it does indeed say the first one was on New Years… shows how long I've been gone I guess lol. Also "ereyesterday" and "overmorrow" are real words that mean the day before yesterday and the day after tomorrow, respectively. Fun bit of trivia for you.
Review response time, because why not!
Blackspiderman: It is good to be back. I did kinda miss this honestly.
