Harry Does Different CDLVIII

Prophecy

"You boy!" the overly dramatic teacher pointed at Neville and queried "How is your grandmother?"

Even three years in Hogwarts hadn't brought the shy boy much confidence, he stammered "W-w-well Professor. I-i-i-I th-think - - -"

"I wouldn't be too sure. Drop her a note as soon as possible and warn her of gathering stormclouds." Warned the professor before looking at Harry "What about your tea leaves?"

Ron peered in the cup and flinched away "Mate! Ya got the grim?"

"One of the darkest symbols in our world!" Blaise Zabini read from her tome. "The grim is a harbinger of death."

Harry momentarily flashed back to the creature he'd seen while fleeing Privet Dr. and eyed the Slytherin girl "Not at all. I see it as a sign of leaving a bad situation behind."

"You're delusional Potter. Our text has 300 years of precedent. Death never fails to follow a grim. It is settled Divination natural law." Declared Blaise, brandishing the large book.

Harry turned away from her, initially shrugged at his friends, then began twitching. He thrust his face right up to the crystal ball and gasped "I see smoke! A sort of purplish haze with flecks of gold. It's beautiful!"

"Focus on that, boy." Trelawney instructed, voice thick with emotion "Let the vision encompass and penetrate you. Only in that way can the future reveal itself."

Harry gave a distracted nod, panted a few times, then twitched some more and "I am seeing something. A body. All broken and battered. Blood everywhere."

"Your classmate did warn you. Future darkness is an inevitable result of using the Eye." The professor told her class with great gravitas.

The boy winked at his friends, no one else saw it, then he emitted a piercing squeal "But no! I am standing over the body. I have a few stains on my robes, but a triumphant smile. Beside me are two girls. Women rather. They both look familiar. One has red hair, the other very dark skin. Both are gorgeous. Each is standing in a huge pile of Galleons and holding a pair of babies. Smiling at me, I think they're mine!"

"Surely that's not all." Sybil was doubtful "It just feels incomplete to me."

He looked at her as if from very far away "That was amazing, Professor Trelawney. But yeah, I did see one other thing. It was that same big black dog. Huge. If anything, bigger than the one I saw last month. He trotted up to me and licked my face. Maybe a bit messy, but nice."

"Well, I think we can wrap up for the day." Said the teacher, not looking very happy.

Harry asked "But Professor, who are those women? Like I said, they look familiar. But - -"

"I cannot say. But I would like everyone to reflect and contemplate, each of you, their inner eye. It is the key to Divination." Sybil concluded and seemed to stagger back to her office.

Abcij

Outside the classroom, Lavender Brown approached hotly "That was awful Harry Potter! You do NOT mock a professor like that!"

"Like every girl's crush Second Year?" asked Harry with a smirk.
