Wolfgirl2013: Thanks :)
Boris Yeltsin: Thanks and well, we'll see.
JaynetheFawn: Thanks, yeah, it was a way to really see into her psyche and also shows a great contrast to the two girls. It will certainly be interesting for things to come ;)
Now onto the story.

Building Danger
Rochelle entered the office, noting Dr. Brenner wasn't alone, one of his key agents Connie was also present. Connie merely glanced up when Rochelle entered, before turning her gaze back to Brenner. Rochelle ignored it, as far as she was concerned, the woman was beneath her, thinking she was better than everyone else. But Rochelle knew that while she had important duties, Connie was expendable. She also took some pleasure in knowing the woman was unaware of that fact, it could be the only explanation for her aloof behaviour, especially towards Rochelle.
"Good, you're finally here." Brenner stated. "A few interesting details have come up that we need to discuss."
Intrigued Rochelle sat down in the other chair, waiting to hear what they had to say.
Brenner smiled thinly. "First, if what I've been hearing is true, your efforts against that idiotic gang member have borne some fruit. He's not directly tried to attack Eleven since you attacked him."
"No sir." Rochelle remarked. "But he is still following her, I believe he's looking for a chance to get her alone and kill her. But it seems she is smarter than that, every time she's been out in the town, she has not been alone."
Brenner nodded. "Yes, under the current circumstances, that is useful. But it does have its downsides...especially for us. It's something we'll need to correct after the immediate threat has passed."
Rochelle just nodded, knowing that this couldn't be all.
She soon found out what when Connie spoke up.
"Well, according to our latest reports, another two hikers have gone missing...much closer to Hawkins this time." She explained. "We can be certain its the denizen from the other side."
Rochelle grimaced. "That would mean, by now it's practically...in Hawkins already. Right here...Should we be sending out that RET at once?"
"No, I don't think so." Brenner replied coolly. "This is an opportunity after all."
"But the amount of disappearances will be noticed, it'll cause panic and-" Rochelle tried to protest.
"Those are acceptable losses, don't forget we have a far bigger purpose here, we do not need to eliminate the denizen. So long as things remain as they are, this will be our opportunity." Brenner countered.
"I…I must agree with Rochelle on this one sir." Connie admitted. "Never mind other people, the risk the denizen poses to Eleven, not to mention we're still not sure how the denizen crossed from the other side…"
Brenner stood up and turned away, still calm. "It is of no concern. I already have a plan in place. We will keep the RET on standby in case it doesn't work out. I know Eleven is strong enough, but I want to see how far her powers have come and this will be the perfect test."
It became clear what he meant, he was hoping that the denizen would meet Eleven, that they would fight. He seemed confident already that Eleven would be the winner of that fight.

"No, this is unacceptable, I forbid it!"
Mike glared at his dad, he had expected this and this time, he wasn't going to try and reason with him, make concessions or back down.
"The decision had already been made, dad." Mike countered angrily. "So you forbidding it doesn't change a thing."
Ted glowered at Mike's defiance, while Mike stood his ground. He had gone to the music teacher and said he had made up his mind and wanted to be part of the school choir, so he had landed an audition which he was due to take part in next week. This meant he was late home and had to explain to his parents why he was late. As he had expected, his father was outraged upon hearing that Mike was planning to join the choir.
"Ted, this is not-" Karen tried to reason with her husband.
But Ted was still angry. "No, I will not have any son of mine, be part of some namby-pamby choir. You-"
"There is nothing wrong with it dad, why can't you just accept it and be happy that I'm doing something!" Mike yelled back.
"I meant something proper, a sport that-"
"Oh of course, because that's manly." Mike scoffed. "What's the big deal about it anyway, what does that even mean. Sitting around all day ignoring your family except when you want them to do something for you, especially when it would benefit you!?"
Ted practically leapt to his feet. "Michael, don't you dare talk to me like that!"
It wasn't as impressive as Ted hoped since despite his own impressive height, Mike was rather tall too, a mere two or three inches shorter than him.
Karen shook her head trying, without much success, to get between them.
"Please, enough we can't…" Karen tried to calm things down.
Ted refused to back down however. "You are not doing this, you will go into that school tomorrow and tell that teacher you've changed your mind and you'll be joining a sports team-"
"Like hell I am. I'm doing this for myself dad, not you." Mike shot back.
Karen finally couldn't take anymore. "Please, stop this, what is the point of even arguing like this, especially when...think of Holly!"
That was enough to get Mike to calm down, he bit his lip, he hadn't been thinking. He was normally trying to protect Holly, but this. Ted didn't seem to want to back down, but Mike had decided he'd had enough and left the room, leaving Ted outraged at Mike ignoring and defying him all while Karen lamented that things seemed to be going from bad to worse.
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
