Haise woke up with Kuri stroking his hair. "I'm so sorry," she whispered.
"Did I…really attack him?"
Kuri chuckled. "That's what he'd like you to think!"
Haise shook his head. "Same old Gourmet."
Why did he say that? How did he know Gourmet?
"Haise you need to tell me what's going on." Kuri said, softly but firmly.
"He's going to kill your sister." Haise revealed, coughing slightly as he got to his feet. "This is what he does. He'll befriend her, romance her, and then betray her and eat her. He thinks it adds spice."
Kuri made a face. "That's so her taste in men."
"Taste being the operative word."
"I'm going to save her, Haise."
"No." He stood up, picking up his quinque. "I don't want you getting hurt. I'll save her."
Kuri glared at him. "That's my sister. I'm not leaving it to you. I don't need protecting, or did you forget that I used to work at the CCG myself."
"All I recall is you nearly getting killed by a teacher's assistant." Haise gave her a twisted smile.
"Shut up Haise." Kuri held up a feather.
A shiver went down Haise's spine. His Kakugan was reacting to that feather. It was bad news.
"Feel that? That's why I'm going." Kuri kissed his cheek and jumped on her Vespa.
Haise blinked at her. There was no talking her down. And, he found he really didn't want to.
They were weirdly a good team.
