Worrying Discoveries
Mike was surprised when El showed back up in class not too long after. He was sure she'd have been given the second task and went to carry it out, yet here she was, back in her seat. He knew however that he'd have to wait for answers, the look she gave him all but confirmed that. Finally, when class was over, they had a bit of a break and were now in the corridor.
"El, what's-?"
She pulled out a note. "I got it, but it said I had to wait until after second period before I could start. I have to follow these orders exactly remember, but we keep having to waste time…"
Mike grimaced. "Maybe that's deliberate...they're trying to run down the clock to make it harder for you."
"Urgh, I should've guessed." She muttered. "Anyway, it's kinda tricky, I have to go, now...leave school."
"What?"
El nodded. "Yeah, I-"
She stopped herself, confusing Mike until he saw someone walk by which set Mike on edge. For there was no mistaking the blonde curtain of hair, or the pale skin and thrift store clothes. Whatever El's task was, it involved Tatiana Volkov somehow. El watched until Tatiana had rounded the corner and Mike couldn't hold back anymore.
"El...what's this task you have to do?"
She swallowed and then showed him the note. "I have to go to the address on the note...Tatiana's home. I need to get inside and find a disk of some kind. They've got some sort of room with a computer and a tray of disks, it's one of those and I need to find the right one and take it to the park."
Mike's eyes were wide hearing this.
He continued to read the note, having now reached the part where El had just stopped her explanation.
He continued. "Take it to the park where one of the agents working for whoever is doing this will be waiting. Disguised as a homeless man...with a notable feature that'll identify him as the right person."
"The disk apparently belongs to her grandfather Dimitri Zaitsev, her mother Anya will be there too." El explained worriedly. "The only clue I've got, the disk won't have a label on it."
Mike sighed. "This is crazy...and fishy in more ways than one...So, are we gonna get going now?"
That made El start, shocked. "We?"
"You think I'm gonna leave you to deal with this by yourself. I'm helping you." Mike replied firmly.
El couldn't help but smile at that, relief flooding her.
"Mike I...Thank you." She said at once. "We, if we want to have enough time we need to hurry, go now...I know it means we'll be skipping school, but…"
"I know, but the risk is worth it, Eric's life is on the line, right." Mike reassured her.
She nodded and so, with no further hesitation, they slipped away from the crowd of students, ducking out of sight of any teachers that might be watching and slipped out of the school, heading for Tatiana's home. All the while Mike couldn't help but wonder what the others would end up thinking when they found out about this.

Something was wrong, Jonathan could feel it. He was back at college and was seated in the common room between their shared dorms along with Nancy. They had got back only an hour or so ago, but something was off, Nancy seemed, on edge.
'She sounded pretty tense too yesterday when she phoned me, but didn't give much detail.' He wondered.
"Hey, you guys are back."
They both looked up to see Robin had entered the dorm, smiling when she saw them.
"Oh, hi." He greeted her.
She paused for a moment, clearly noticing his tone and he nodded to Nancy, who was sitting, head bowed, pensive. Getting the message she crossed to Steve's door and pretty much hammered on it with her fist.
"Hey dingus, get out here."
The door opened and a sleepy looking Steve emerged.
"What, for once I have a morning free and was trying to sleep in." He grumbled.
Robin nodded over. "You didn't even greet them coming back?"
Steve bit his lip. "Ah...no...Hey…"
But even he trailed off as he noticed the same problem. Sharing a look with Jonathan and then Robin he joined her as they sat down opposite the couple.
"So…" Robin began awkwardly.
That got Nancy's attention and she looked up, putting on her best smile.
"Oh, yeah, hey...sorry was thinking." She tried to explain.
But it was clear none of them bought it.
Steve finally broke the silence.
"So...you guys are back from visiting your families...how'd that go?"
Jonathan smiled. "Yeah, it was good, mom and Will are doing well...How about you, Nancy?"
All eyes turned to her as she froze, her eyes wide like a deer in car headlights.
"Shit." She muttered under her breath. "It's...I wish it was that well for me. My parents…"
They all tensed, suddenly feeling rather worried.
"My parents have been fighting lately, a lot...mostly over Mike and the things he wants to do, versus the things my dad expects and wants him to do." She explained as steadily as she could. "It's getting so bad Mike's actually losing sleep over it, trying to keep Holly safe and make sure she doesn't realize what's going on, tying not to upset her…"
She bit her lip, unsure how else to articulate the issue. But luckily they seemed to get exactly what she meant if their horrified shocked faces were anything to go by. It seemed they were all worried now too. Then there was a knock at the door to the common room before it opened and Billy walked in.
"Hey, any of you punks seen Gibson, his professor is going apeshit and demanding to know where he is."
That then brought a new worry to them as none of them could answer. In fact, the last time any of them remembered seeing Eric was Steve and Robin seeing him on Saturday before leaving for work.
End of chapter, hope you enjoyed it, read and review please.
