"115935," Samuel J. Stuhlinger, a pudgy man, repeated to himself, remembering what he saw on the hatch."We're dead...115935."
"Are you okay, Stuhlinger?" Princess Luna, an alicorn from Equestria, asked, concerned. He had survived the explosion thanks to Vanto saving him.
Stuhlinger looked at the princess."I...I...we are so fucked!" He yelled, panicking. He looked at Vanto and Tarkin who were looking down the hole."Why did you light it?!"
"We need to see what's down here." Grand Moff Tarkin said to him calmly. He was curious about why Stuhlinger was scared about this hatch but he focused on looking down the hole. He held a torch to see through the darkness.
"I'm sure everything will be alright, Stuhlinger." Said Ocellus, a young reformed Changeling, trying to comfort her friend."I hope..."
Eli Vanto, a former Imperial, saw that the ladder was gone thanks to the explosion.
"What is it?" Luna questioned after a long moment of silence.
"Doesn't matter what it is." Vanto said, frustrated."We blew the door so we could get everyone inside this thing so they'd be safe." He stood up."That plan is not gonna work. We'll never get everyone down in time."
Tarkin ignored him, staring down the hole. Tarkin grabbed a rock and let go of it, letting it fall into the hole. They waited for a moment before they heard a splash.
"Water." Luna looked at Tarkin.
The Grand Moff nodded."Shallow. Sounds like a puddle."
"40 feet down?"
"50, tops. We could use the wire we pulled from the Arquitens ship, rig up a harness." Tarkin looked at Indiana Jones, an archeologist."Unless you think your whip is long enough to get us down there."
"It's not that long." Indy said, looking down the hole as well."I hope there are no snakes down there..."
"Snakes are the least of our concerns." Said Stuhlinger.
"Guys," Vanto said to them. They looked at him."We're leaving now."
"Agreed!" Stuhlinger said quickly.
"We all went through a lot to get here, Vanto." Said Tarkin.
"The ladder's broken," Vanto told him."You're gonna lower 40 people down there one by one? The people back at the caves are waiting for us to come back and tell them what to do. So let's forget about the harnesses."
"Vanto?" Said Luna.
Vanto looked at her annoyed."What?"
"Why don't we all just calm down here?" Said Tarkin.
"Look, if you want to go exploring in the morning, that's fine. But tonight, we're done." Vanto said, more annoyed."I'm gonna go get the dynamite that we didn't use, and we're heading back to the caves. It's time to go."
Tarkin stared at him for a long. He then slowly nodded."Okay. But why do you not want to go down there, Vanto?"
Flashback.
Vanto was on the bridge of the Steadfast.
"Damn it!" Said Brierly Ronan, an Imperial officer who had joined the Chiss. He had once been an assistant for Director Krennis and his project Stardust."How does this technology work?"
"Here, let me help." Vah'nya, a Sky-walker, said, coming over to him. Vah'nya was special among Sky-walkers since she still had her ability despite being an adult. But it was possible she would lose her ability to navigate hyperspace soon.
Vah'nya looked at him as she helped Ronan and smiled at him.
Vanto smiled back.
"Sir!" A Chiss officer said to Admiral Ar'alani."We have ships coming out of hyperspace!"
She looked at him."Grysk?"
She got her answer when a fleet of Grysk ships came out of hyperspace.
On the Island.
At the caves, Lavernius Tucker and Zuud had returned with Jeela's baby. Once they gave her the baby back, Tucker was telling people around the cave about the Others.
"No one is out there. No one is coming." He said to some of them.
"But the French Woman said-" Said one of them.
"That French Woman is fucking insane!" Tucker told them."She was just making that shit up. She set the fire up herself."
Tucker saw that Zuud, an Imperial Officer, looking at him."What?" He said, confused.
"Nothing." She said, thinking about Rousseau.
"So, these Others aren't even real?" Alberty Arlington, also called the Weasel, said when Billy Handsome told him what Tucker told him.
"Yeah. I just wonder when Vanto and the others get here with my guns." Handsome remembered them taking his pistols. He then saw Lightning Dust, a cyan pegasus, was near one of the fires they had started.
Cersei Lannister walked through the cave."Has anyone seen Winona?" She asked, having lost the dog.
Winona was a dog that had belonged to Applebloom. After Applejack and Doctor Whooves built their raft, Applebloom had given the dog to Cersei.
Cersei gave up looking around the caves and grabbed a torch.
"Where are you going?" Zuud asked when Cersei walked past her.
"I lost the dog." She said angrily, going into the jungle.
Zuud stood up and followed her.
Wilhuff Tarkin continued looking down the hole.
"Why did you do that?" Stuhlinger asked him."Why the hell did you light the fuse?"
Tarkin turned around to look at him."Why wouldn't I light the fuse?"
"Because I running towards you, yelling at you to not do that."
"Listen, I know you're afraid. But we needed to blow the hatch to see what's inside." Tarkin said to him.
"And to save everybody's lives," Vanto added.
Tarkin looked at him. He nodded."And to save everyone's lives."
"Or, maybe it was just our destiny, right, Tarkin?" He mocked.
"Maybe." Said Tarkin, calm.
"Uh, everybody," Said Ocellus."You might want to see this."
They went over to Ocellus to see that she was looking at the hatch door. They saw the words "Quarantine" on it.
"We should have never opened this hatch." Said Stuhlinger.
"Winona!" Cersei yelled, trying to look for the dog in the jungle.
"This is not a good idea." Said Zuud, following her.
"I saw the dog five minutes ago. Besides, you're the one who said there isn't anyone out here." Cersei reminded her.
"I said we didn't see anyone," Zuud said, thinking about how she heard whispers in the jungle after she had escaped Rousseau."The dog will come back on its own. She always does."
Cersei looked at her."Watching that dog..." She sighed."In my land, I was a queen. I handled the entire kingdom. The fact that I can't handle a dog..."
Suddenly, the two heard barking.
"I'll circle around behind him," Zuud told her.
Cersei nodded."Okay."
The two then ran off to find Winona.
"Winona!" She yelled."Winona!"
Cersei then tripped on a rock and fell."Seven hells!" She yelled. She then started hearing whispers around her. She got up and was shocked at what she saw.
It was Applebloom.
She was still trying to get used to seeing talking ponies. But now seeing Applebloom when she was supposed to be on the raft...
"Applebloom?"
The filly shushed her. The yellow filly was also all wet.
"What are you doing here?" She asked. Had something happened to the raft?.
Applebloom just stared at her. When Cersei turned to see if Zuud was anywhere near, she saw Applebloom was gone.
Princess Luna, Tarkin, and Indy walked together while Vanto, Ocellus, and Stuhlinger walked from them to stay away from each other because of the dynamite.
"Why do you want to get down there, Indy?" Luna suddenly asked him.
"I'm an archeologist. I'm curious." Indy shrugged.
"Well, what about you, Tarkin?" She asked.
"Why do I want to get down there." Vanto repeated her question."Vanto thinks I'm crazy, doesn't he?" Said Tarkin.
"Well, you do want to drop into a hatch that says quarantine," Luna noted.
"What about the column of smoke we saw, huh?" Tarkin looked at her."And Stuhlinger, when he was trying to stop the dynamite from blowing up, talked about zombies."
"Zombies can't be real," Luna said. She looked at Indy."You said you went to an Island that had the undead. That is impossible."
"This entire Island seems impossible." Said Indy."Talking horses are supposed to be impossible as well. And the fact that we woke up here on this Island..."
Luna looked at Tarkin."Do you believe what Stuhlinger said about zombies?"
"They're real." Tarkin said."I should know. I helped with Project Blackwing."
Vanto, Ocellus, and Stuhlinger walked behind them."You should go ahead," Said Stuhlinger."Don't want Tarkin making time with your girl."
Vanto glared at him.
"It was just a joke." He said.
He sighed."I'm not really in the mood, Stuhlinger."
"Come on, dude. You're supposed to be Mr. Smile and all that."
Vanto chuckled a little at that.
"There you go. Life's not so bad, right? I mean, sure the Others are coming to kill us all, and there's a fucking smoke monster in the jungle, but you do get to sleep in every morning."
The former Imperial nodded."Yeah. And the number made the zombies?"
Stuhlinger looked at him."What?"
"You said that the numbers made the zombies." Said Ocellus."You were yelling it right before Vanto tackled you."
"It's a very long story," Stuhlinger said.
"We've got time," Vanto said.
"You'll think I'm crazy."
He looked at him."Try me."
The pudgy man sighed."I don't even know where to begin...listen, a long time ago, there was a second world war and the Americans, Russians, and some other countries fought these people called the Nazis. During the war, the Nazi's funded these people called Group 935. Group 935 had a lot of weird shit but the thing they focused on the most was an Undead army. They were able to do this using something called Element 115. Group 935, Element 115, those numbers are bad because they made the zombies. And I saw those numbers on the hatch."
...
"Zombies?" Said Vanto.
"I'm not crazy."
"Stuh...what your saying...I'm sorry, but It's impossible." Vanto told him.
"Really? So the fucking smoke monster is not impossible?!" Stuhlinger said, angry. He then walked ahead of him.
Flashback.
"Is she okay?!" Vanto asked the Chiss nurse, worried as he tried to get into the hospital room."Is she okay?!"
During the battle, one of the Grysk ships, called a Coralskipper, had hit the bridge. Luckily, the bridge had not been destroyed. However, a few Chiss had been severely injured.
Vah'nya had been one of them that had been injured.
"Sir, you need to stand back." The Chiss nurse told Vanto before she went into the room to help the doctor. She closed the door and Vanto stood there, hoping Vah'nya was okay.
On the Island.
"I know what I saw!" Cersei yelled at the people at the cave."It was her! It was that pony, Applebloom!"
"Cersei," Said Zuud."Calm down." Zuud had brought her back to the cave while she said she saw Applebloom.
"I heard whispers." Cersei continued.
"Where?" Asked Jeela, an Imperial TIE pilot, worried that they would take her baby.
"Everywhere." She told her.
"Wait, what?" Tucker asked."What whispers? Who?"
"I think it was the Others."
"Do you think something happened to the raft?" Derpy questioned, hoping Doctor Whooves was okay.
Zuud looked at the grey mare."Nothing happened to the raft. Applebloom is with Whooves, with Valance-"
"I know what I saw!" Cersei screamed.
Tucker noticed Vanto and the others returning."They're back."
Vanto was a little nervous about what he had to say to everyone at the cave. He got up and looked at them.
"Tarkin found a hatch in the ground about half a mile from here. We left to-to blow it open so that we could hide inside, so all of us could hide inside, in case...but that doesn't matter now because it's not going to work. There's no way for all of us to get down in there tonight." He explained.
"Did you see them?" Cersei asked."Did you see the Others?"
"Bitch, there are no Others," Tucker said to her.
"What in the seven hells would you know about it, just because you didn't see anything?!" Said Cersei.
"There's no one out there," Tucker argued.
"You don't know!"
"Now your just making stuff up!"
"Hey!" Vanto yelled, getting their attention."Everything's going to be okay. Let's just take it easy. We're going to be alright. We're going to stay here tonight, okay, together. We've still got 4 guns. We'll put lookouts at all the entrances. We're all going to be safe as long as we stay together. The sun comes up in 3 hours and we're all going to be here to see that happen. I promise."
Vanto then noticed Tarkin walk into the cave to grab some cable."Tarkin, what are you doing?"
"I'm getting some cable." Tarkin said.
"What for?" Vanto asked but he already had a feeling he knew.
"It's for the hatch. I'm going in."
"Do you really think that's the smartest thing to do right now, Tarkin?"
"I doubt it." He said, not really caring."In fact, you're right. The safest thing is to stay here, wait for the morning, wait for these Others, to see if they ever show up, wait for the brave folks on the raft to bring help, but me, I'm tired of waiting."
Tarkin then left the cave with the cable. And Indiana Jones went with him.
A few minutes after Tarkin left, Vanto was by himself in the caves. Luna walked over to him."So, do you believe it?" She asked.
Vanto looked at her."Believe what?"
"That everything's going to be okay?"
He nodded."Yeah, I do."
"Well, you had a good speech. It reminded me of Twilight Sparkle's speeches." She smiled, thinking of her sister's student. She then sighed a little."Vanto, I'm going to the hatch. I understand why you can't go. They need you here. I get it. I do. But Tarkin is going into that thing whether you like it or not. And if he falls and breaks his neck... Live together, die alone, right?
"Right." Vanto agreed.
Luna walked through the jungle while it was still nighttime. She made it to the hatch to see Tarkin and Indy standing there.
"I expected to find you two halfway down there." She said to them.
"We were waiting for you." Said Indy.
Once they tied the cable to a tree, they started a plan.
"Wait, you want me to go down first?" Said Luna, confused."I am a bit...heavy compared to you."
"True. But I heard you can be able to cast a light spell where you can show some light in the dark. Seems better than a flashlight." Tarkin said.
"I can try." She said."But this Island is somehow making my magic weak." She tried and a white light appeared at the top of her horn.
Indy and Tarkin put the cable around her. They were about lower her when Luna spoke.
"Wait, what do I say if I need to stop?"
"Stop." Said Tarkin.
"Right." She said.
As they both lowered the alicorn down the hatch, Tarkin looked at Indy's face. For some reason, Indy reminded Tarkin of the smuggler he had seen on the security footage of the Death Star.
Suddenly, the cable snapped. Indy and Tarkin held onto the rope hard while Luna nearly fell to the dark bottom.
"Luna, are you alright?" Tarkin yelled.
"Yes, I'm okay!" She yelled back, looking up the hole."Maybe we should-"
They continued to lower her.
"Okay..." She said, a little unsure
Soon, a light brighter than her light appeared at the bottom."Stop!" She yelled.
"What's wrong?" Tarkin questioned.
"Tarkin, I think there's something down here!" She yelled.
The Grand Moff and archeologist heard her scream and saw a huge light come out of the hole.
They struggled to pull up the rope but fell down on their back. The two quickly realized that Luna was no longer connected to the rope. And light from the bottom of the hatch was gone.
Tarkin ran to the hatch and looked down the hole."Luna!" He yelled."Luna!"
"You're going back?!" Stuhlinger said to Vanto, seeing him load an M1911 pistol.
He nodded."Yeah." He had little experience with slugthrowers but the Chiss had taught him how to shoot a blaster pistol.
Vanto then went to the hatch.
When he got there, he saw no one. But he did see a cable then lead down to the hole of the hatch.
He looked down."Luna! Tarkin! Indy!"
There was no answer.
Vanto had no choice but to go down there himself.
Flashback.
They had told him that there was a low possibility that Vah'nya would live.
Vanto had been allowed some time off from the Chiss. He went to Zarby IV, a planet in Wild Space.
While it was a Wild Space planet, it had some cities. In one of these cities, Vanto was at the stadium.
To keep his mind off a Vah'nya, Vanto ran up the steps. He had been doing this for five minutes and was sweating. As he ran, he noticed another man doing the same thing as him but only faster.
He had seen the man when Vanto had driven a rented speeder to the stadium. He had been talking to something on a strange device.
Vanto ran faster, hoping to be faster than the man. He then tripped and felt pain in his ankle."Damn." He said angrily, hoping he didn't sprain it.
The man stopped running and went over to him."You alright brother?" He asked in an accent Vanto didn't recognize.
"I'm fine." He said, annoyed. He tried getting back up but felt more pain.
"Take it easy." The man said, trying to help him."Keep the weight off. Here, let me have a look." Vanto sighed and sat on the step to let the man look at his ankle."Does this hurt?" He touched it.
Vanto shook his head.
"You haven't sprained it then. I don't fancy your chances of catching up with me tonight, though."
"I wasn't trying to catch up." Vanto lied.
"Aye, of course you weren't." The man smiled.
"What do you know about sprains, anyway?" Vanto asked, curious.
"I was almost a doctor once." He took a sip from his water bottle."So, what's your excuse?"
"Excuse?"
"For running like the devil's chasing you. My excuse, I'm training."
"Training for what?"
"For exploring some places. So your excuse better be good, brother." He looked at him.
"Just trying to work a few things out."
"Ah, a girl, right?" He asked.
Vanto nodded."She might die."
The man was silent for a moment.
"I'm sorry to hear that. But...maybe there's a chance she'll live."
"That would be a miracle," Vanto said.
"Oh, and you don't believe in miracles?" He asked.
Vanto shook his head.
"Right. Well then, I'm going to give you some advice anyway. You have to lift it up."
"Lift it up?" Vanto repeated, confused.
"Your ankle. You've got to keep it elevated. It's been nice chatting." He smiled at him.
"Vanto." He introduced himself.
"Vanto, I'm Desmond." He shook Vanto's hand."Good luck, brother. See you in another life, yeah?"
On the Island.
Vanto climbed down the cable and made it to the bottom. He saw the puddle Luna, Tarkin, and Indy had heard.
He showed his flashlight at the dark tunnel and saw a glimmer of light at the end of it. He walked through the rocky tunnel and saw a big rusty pipe. He saw a concrete wall as well.
Before he continue, he saw a pair of boots. Vanto saw it was Tarkin's boots.
Vanto walked through the concrete tunnel and saw a piece of paper with words. The paper was on a little table against the wall. He grabbed it and read it.
We have discovered that there are beings that can travel between dimensions without the aid of the teleporters, It said.
He wondered what the hell that even meant.
As he continued walking, he noticed one part of the tunnel was sealed off by lots of concrete. Vanto went over to take a closer look but saw his pistol move towards.
Is this a magnet? He wondered.
Suddenly, Vanto heard music.
"Your hands are slow, your movements sluggish, your lack of speed, just brings you anguish. Just take a sip, you will move faster. Just try it now and speed is mastered! Press those lips against the only one that really moves you. Speed Cola speeds up your life!"
As Vanto looked around, wondering where the music was coming from, a bright light then turned and blinded him. He took cover near a wall while the song played again in a loop.
Vanto then went into another and was surprised at what he saw. The room had a desk with a computer and other technological stuff.
Vanto looked at the computer to see that it was on. It looked primitive.
Curious, he was about to press something on the keyboard when the music cut.
"I wouldn't do that, Vanto." Said a voice.
Vanto quickly turned around and aimed his gun at Wilhuff Tarkin."Where is Luna?" He asked."What the hell did you-"
Another gun was then pointed at Tarkin's head.
Flashback.
When Eli Vanto returned, he was told that Vah'nya was now
He ran into the room and saw her laying on the hospital bed.
"Your... you're alive..." He said, shocked.
Vah'nya smiled at him.
The two then kissed each other.
On the Island.
"Move and I kill him." Said the man holding the gun that was aimed at Tarkin's head. Vanto couldn't see him, only seeing his arm."Put the gun down."
"Where's Luna?" Vanto asked Tarkin.
"Vanto, It's okay." The Grand Moff tried to assure him.
"I said drop it!" The man yelled.
"Where's Luna?!" He yelled.
"She's fine, just put down the-"
"I'm not putting anything-"
The man then fired his gun and shot a light behind Vanto."Do you want him to die? Put it down."
Vanto looked at Tarkin."Is this what you were talking about, Tarkin? Is this your destiny? All roads lead here?"
"Vanto, calm down," Tarkin said calmly.
The man then moved behind Tarkin."Lower your gun or I'll blow his damned head off, brother!"
Vanto's eyes widened when he saw the man's face.
It was Desmond from the stadium.
"You." Vanto said.
