The Aftermath
As she sat in his car she shivered, fearing the worst was yet to happen. Arnold turned to her from the driver's seat and said:
"You need to smile."
Connie didn't feel like smiling, yet she feared the worst from her captor and did what was asked. They headed further out into nowhere, the rhythm of Ellie's radio helped to clear out all the thoughts Connie had. After what seemed like forever, Arnold stopped the car.
"Get out now," Arnold said grabbing Connie's hand and dragging her.
She looked around and realized she was in a field. Remembering what Arnold said earlier Connie felt a shiver down her spine. Arnold dragged her to a spot shaded by the trees. He pined her down so she couldn't move and he ripped open her blouse. She felt his body against hers as he took advantage of her. She tried to say no but feared for her life. When Arnold was finished with what he was doing he looked at her and said:
"So, do you want to go now, or do you want to stay and have a good time."
Connie stood up with tears in her eyes as she grabbed her cloths. Her eyes told Arnold her answer. She ran and ran but stopped realizing she could never go back home again. She had nothing, and no one, she hated herself and wanted to die. Connie decided to do just that as she spotted a pond in the distance. She placed her foot in the murky water when she heard a voice shouting in the distance.
"Don't."
Turning around Connie spotted Ellie Owen running toward her.
"Why do you care what I do," Connie asked the young man.
"Arnold had no right to do what he did," Ellie said, "You're a nice girl."
Connie realized Ellie was being sincere in his words and knew he wasn't leading her on. She stood shaking as she took Ellie's hand and walked away. Never knowing what the future may hold but holding on to the dark past that brought them together.
