Chapter 6:

Mom?

Yes?

That was awesome!

Really?

No kidding! I've never seen him get taken down like that by anyone. Huh, maybe except by Bobby. But I didn't get to see that, so it doesn't count.

Bobby knocked him a peg down?

Yeah, he was apparently pissed off at John for kicking me out. Dean said that Bobby threatened to fill John's ass with buckshot if he ever crossed the borders of his property ever again. Dean was told he was free to show up whenever he wanted though. Poor Dean couldn't decide if he was amused at John's expense or awed by Bobby. In the end he chose to internally cheer for Bobby.

Remind me to thank him.

Okay.

"She's going to hit Erconsky next." Dean said cutting through the internal conversation.

"Come again?" John asked almost sounding wary. Mary frowned at that, but decided to leave it as it is. For now.

"Erconsky, a small town at the borders of Los Angeles, often described as a place within LA but not of it. An old rustic spot with a picture post card appearance. Well known for the various hospices and care homes that dot the place. A calm environment for the inmates, but still close enough to a major city if advanced health care options are required." Sam rattled off, reading from his laptop he had pulled out from somewhere, sitting crossed legged on the floor beside the mottled corpse of the abuser.

"What are we waiting for then?" Dean asked and left the room. Mary helped Sam up from the floor and they left together. But not before Sam shot a distracted John a cool glance and turned to Mary who was decidedly doing her best to ignore John.

What's wrong?

I came back with memories of not only what you both were up to, but also of your Father's activities.

Not my father, Mom. He may have been the sperm donor but I happen to like Bobby better. Uh, no offense intended.

None taken, son. I think I like Bobby better too. At least, I'm not tempted to strangle him. On the contrary, I was planning to thank him the first chance I get. He was very kind to you and your brother.

You want to strangle John? Sam projected the thought as he held open the Impala's back door. Mary smiled in thanks and entered. But it didn't reach her eyes. Once they were both seated properly, she answered.

Yes.

Why?

Because I think I just realized who Stella is, was.

Ah, makes sense.

You knew. It wasn't a question, but rather a statement. Sam winced slightly and answered hesitantly.

Yeah. Judgement introduced us. I didn't know how to tell you what I knew. I'm sorry.

Don't be. It's not your fault. It's John who should have told me, but he didn't. It's just… I need some time.

Okay.

Dean who was in the driving seat pressed the horn a few times after John had failed to show up even after five minutes. John stumbled out of the house, almost in a daze and practically collapsed in to the passenger seat. Dean cast a worried look at him and opened his mouth to speak but closed it immediately, thinking better of it. Through the rear view mirror he could see that his mother was upset about something as well and that Sam, by the looks he was shooting her knew exactly what it was. Dean caught his brother's eyes through the mirror but Sam shook his head and mouthed a "Later." at him. Dean considered for a moment but then nodded in acquiescence. He started the car and set out for Erconsky, Los Angeles.
