Butterfly

By: Amako

My short, black hair spread itself around on the ground on the grass as I lie there, staring up at the clouds. The sky was pretty clear, other then the little clouds that floated by every now and again. I sighed. I knew he was right. I hated to admitt it, but he was right. I needed to relax. He was old enough to be watching out for himself and to be fighting on his own.

"But ... His injury ..."

I could feel my eyes brimming with tears. I really didn't want to cry though. If he ever saw me cry, I don't know what I'd do. When I thought about it, I was probably just about as stubborn as he was. No, I was alot more stubborn then him. I sat up. No wonder he battled on his own now more then ever before.

Something rested lightly against the flesh of my right hand. I looked to my right. I didn't believe what I was seeing. Long silver hair and glasses.

"Soubi ..."

He turned his head and faced me. The minute the deep, blue eyes met with my gaze, I could feel myself, losing myself. I felt myself falling into another world. He squeezed my hand gently. My tears rolled down my cheeks making slow, staining trails along my skin.

"Why are you crying?"

"Soubi ... I'm sorry ... That I was so mean ... I just ..."

"Ritsuka ..." He cut in. I stared at him.

"I'm not mad at you ..."

"Then why have you been fighting alone!"

"Because ... The fights are getting harder and ... I don't want to risk you getting hurt ..."

I felt the heat on my cheeks.

"Soubi ... But ... Your hand ..." I looked to his right hand that was wrapped in bandages with slight blood marks coming through.

"It's fine."

"But ...!"

"It's fine, Ritsuka."

"But I ...!"

He moved his left hand from holding my right hand and placed his index finger over my lips.

"I'm ok, so ... Don't worry about it ..."

He was smiling. I moved his finger away and moved slightly, leaning my head against his shoulder. As we sat together, looking at all of the flowers, we caught sight of two white butterflies that seemed to be dancing together as they flew around the beautiful flowers.

"They remind me of us." Soubi stated simply. I didn't question him. No need to.

"Yeah ... They do ..." I said smiling,

"They really do."

It was in that moment that I knew. I knew. Soubi and I ... Would always be together.

No matter what happened.

He was my strong, comforting Soubi and I ...

I was his little Ritsuka.
