Darkness was all Spider-Man could see, the last thing he remembered was saying goodbye to the women he loved and then nothing. Finally bright light erupted around him as Spider-Man looked around and saw a lone figure sitting down near a campfire. Spider-Man slowly approached the figure until he went wide eyed at who he saw.

"Hey there Peter, it's been some time hasn't it" the figure said.

Spider-Man pulled off his mask "Uncle Ben is it really you?"

"In the flesh, I've been keeping an eye on you and I have to say you've sure made me proud."

"I'm so sorry, if I stopped that robber you wouldn't have died, it's all my fault" Peter said as he broke down in tears.

Uncle Ben kneeled down next to his nephew "Peter, you learned that day that with great power comes great responsibility, I may have died that day but Spider-Man was born. You've saved so many people and unfortunately you're not done."

"Not done, what do you mean?" Peter asked.

"While I'm glad we got to talk for a bit, your time isn't up" Uncle Ben responded.

"Uncle Ben I just want to say I love you, and I miss you everyday." Peter said as he grabbed him for a hug.

"I love you too Peter, tell your aunt I love her and make sure you let that Felicia girl know you love her each and every day, you never know when it may be your time. Anyway I've rambled long enough it's time for you to wake up" Uncle Ben said with a smile.

Peter opened his eyes and tried to take in his surroundings as he sat up. Pain immediately shot through his body as he heard a familiar voice "I wouldn't sit up just yet kid you just had a building fall on you."

Peter focused his eyes and was shocked as he saw Tony Stark return his stare.

"Didn't quite expect you to be so young, but it is nice to meet you Spider-Man or should I say meet you again Peter Parker."

Peter immediately felt his face for his mask and realized he wasn't wearing his mask or costume.

"I had to cut you out of it to have your wounds treated, don't worry I'm the only one who has seen your face, Cap would lose his shit if he knew you were a kid. Tony said as he chuckled.

"What happened?" Peter asked.

"Well The Avengers got a tip about some HYDRA scheme outside of the city and it seemed too good to be true, so I stuck around here in case it was a trap. Apparently I was right, but it seems the trap was for you. Once the others left apparently a little supervillain action broke out. I usually don't get involved with street level crime, but they had you all outnumbered, I was getting into my suit as that building blew up. I was about to round up the last of the baddies before JARVIS told me you were trapped under that building. I saved you, brought you back to Avengers Tower, treated some of your wounds, and here we are."

Peter let all that information sink in, he got extremely lucky Iron Man was in the city or else he would be very dead right now.

"How long have I been out?" Peter asked.

"A few hours give or take, surprised you're up already considering a building just landed on you to be honest" Tony replied seriously.

Before the conversation could continue they were interrupted by a robotic voice "sir, I think young Parker needs to see the news."

"Thanks Jarvis," Tony replied.

A hologram appeared playing the latest news from the Daily Bugle.

One J. Jonah Jameson was on screen with a black eye and what appeared to be a claw mark on his face. "I was just attacked by the vigilante known as Black Cat and the police refuse to do anything other than hold her in a cell."

Jared his intern cut in "well sir you did make a joke about her recently deceased partner Spider-Man the Defenders weren't happy with you either."

"It's not my fault she wasn't a fan of making today a holiday so we can celebrate that wall crawling menace being gone" Jameson yelled.

There was a standoff between the police and the Defenders as they were clamoring for Black Cat's release. The people of New York were also getting involved as the heroes regardless of what the Daily Bugle reports were fairly popular. It looked like a powder keg ready to blow as cries for free Black Cat could be heard.

Peter immediately sat up ignoring the pain "I have to get to her."

"Slow down webs, you can't go busting up the police, trust me it's not a good look" Tony said.

"No, I left her with police captain Stacy, I just need to get to him and let them both know I'm not dead." Peter replied, getting out of bed.

Peter spied his web shooters on a counter next to him and slapped them both on after inspecting them and making sure he had web fluid left.

"Hey kid, how are you going to get there without a suit?" Tony asked with a smirk.

Peter's face fell, "can you give me a lift home? I have my old suit as a backup, I'll have to design a whole new one. I hope I can recreate it."

"Why wouldn't you be able to?" Tony asked genuinely curious.

Peter hesitated "because Spider-Man doesn't have the same resources as Tony Stark, I got lucky and came into some materials, but I don't think I will get that kind of luck again."

"Interesting, I felt bad destroying your suit. It looked very impressive, it's no Iron Man suit but impressive nonetheless. Check that suitcase and good luck we will talk soon." Tony said.

Peter opened the suitcase and his eyes went wide as he saw a red and blue Spider-Man suit. It had black accents around the arms and legs as well as having a smaller spider emblem on the chest.

"I call it the Stark Suit, consider it a gift. While I can't publicly support you due to public perception I do think Spider-Man does good things for the city." Tony said, extending his hand.

Peter stared at it before shaking it "Thank you Mr. Stark."

"Oh please, Mr. Stark was my father, call me Tony."

"Thanks Tony." Peter said.

The suit seemed a bit large as he put it on, but after tapping the emblem on his chest the suit vacuum sealed on him "wow that's gonna make getting in this so much easier."

As Peter donned the mask he was greeted with a surprise "Peter, I am happy you survived" Karen said.

"Karen? I thought I lost you when Tony cut me out of my suit."

"Tony Stark said I was based off of his JARVIS program so he was able to upload me to his server before putting me in this suit," Karen explained.

Spider-Man looked at Tony "You built this suit and imported Karen all in a few hours?"

"What can I say I am a genius" Tony replied as he poured himself a drink.

Spider-Man said his final goodbyes as he jumped out of Avengers Tower and began web swinging grunting through the pain. The city came alive as people recognized Spider-Man swinging and knew where he was headed. Spider-Man made it to the NYPD headquarters in record time as he landed in the middle of the police, the people, and the Defenders.

"People of New York, rumors of my demise have been greatly exaggerated." Spider-Man quipped.

He was met by loud applause from the people as he was greeted by Captain Stacy and Officer Watanabe.

"Spider-Man, how did you survive? I saw that building collapse on you." Captain Stacy said as he embraced the wall crawling hero.

"It's a long story, but before we get to that, where is Black Cat?" Spider-Man asked.

Captain Stacy radioed inside and within moments Black Cat emerged with two police officers at her side and handcuffed. Spider-Man looked at her and saw her eyes were red from crying and it looked like there was blood on her usually white gauntlets. She still had a bit of a limp as she made her way over. Spider-Man wasted no time and began making his way to her, the moment she looked up and saw Spider-Man she immediately sprinted forward and threw a kick. His spider sense flaring he blocked it before pulling her into a hug and whispering in her ear "it's really me Felicia."

Loud sobs could be heard as Black Cat began to cry as she wrapped her arms around Spider-Man with the police wondering where her handcuffs went that quickly.

"Sorry to scare you like that Cat" Spider-Man said.

"But I saw it, I saw that building collapse on you, how did you escape?" Black Cat asked.

Spider-Man looked around at all the people, cameras, and police present "I'll tell you when we get out of here" Spider-Man said as he scooped up Black Cat and began web swinging away.

Bronx, NY

After some web swinging and hitching a ride on top of a train the superhero duo made their way back to the Defenders headquarters as they awaited for the rest of their team. Both Spider-Man and Black Cat were uncharacteristically quiet on the way there. Spider-Man knew he messed up, but just couldn't find the words to apologize with. After a few more minutes they were greeted by the rest of the defenders. Jessica was surprisingly the first one to pull Spider-Man into a hug.

"I missed you too Jessica, please don't crush me" Spider-Man said between grunts.

"Spidey, why is it that whenever we have a mission together you almost get yourself killed?" Luke asked.

"Bad luck?" Spider-Man said nervously, chuckling.

"How did you survive my friend?" Iron Fist asked.

Spider-Man retold the events as he remembered them, his fight with the Green Goblin, Black Cat's cry for assistance, the Green Goblin's death, detonation of the bombs, and saying his final goodbyes. Everyone was deadly quiet as Spider-Man described how he felt the building collapse on him and felt unbearable pain, and losing consciousness before waking up in Avengers Tower with Tony Stark as well as the new suit he built for him.

"So that's what I heard, it sounded like a miniature rocket" Daredevil was the first to speak.

"Wow, that's just incredible," Luke added.

"How are you still standing?" Jessica asked.

"Karen is actively pumping me full of morphine to numb the pain, she's complaining I need to get home soon or I won't be web swinging for too much longer before I pass out" Spider-Man explained.

"Wait so Tony Stark knows who you are now?" Iron Fist asked.

"Yes, him along with Captain Stacy" Spider-Man responded sadly.

"Do you think that will cause any problems?" Jessica asked.

"Honestly I'm unsure, but what happened after I went out did we capture all of the bad guys?" Spider-Man asked.

"Unfortunately the Sinister Six escaped when the building collapsed, but The Enforcers have all been captured, not the best win but a win nonetheless." Daredevil said grimly.

"After that, The Enforcers shot off at the mouth about your death which the bugle picked up, and let me tell you I thought I was scary, but after what Jameson said we couldn't stop Black Cat from decking him one." Jessica said with a smirk.

Spider- Man turned to the silent Black Cat who was able to barely smile back "he wanted to make today a holiday because he thought they killed you, I was just so hurt and angry that you would give your life for me, for the Defenders, for the city and he had the nerve to spit on your sacrifice."

In that moment Black Cat's words really hit home, she was devastated at the thought of his death and looking around he saw The Defenders shared that same sentiment. Spider-Man launched forward and captured Black Cat in a loving embrace. Black Cat slowly rolled his mask up and captured his lips in a passionate kiss. As the kiss ended Black Cat leaned in and whispered into his ear "please don't leave me again."

Spider-Man's eyes slightly teared up behind his mask as he tightened his embrace careful not to hurt her.

The Defenders watched each with small smiles on their faces.

"You guys are just so cute," Jessica said with a wide grin.

"You two get out of here and take some time off, we can handle things" Daredevil said.

"But my rogue gallery is still out there" Spider-Man contested.

Black Cat immediately pulled Spider-Man down to her eye level "you almost died again, The Defenders can handle things for a few weeks while you recover."

"Peter I detect your heart is accelerating, do I need to remind you that you need to begin resting" Karen's robotic voice cut in.

"Maybe I can stand to take some time off, I still need to figure out a way to make a new suit anyway." Spider-Man replied nervously.

Luke and Jessica were laughing hysterically, Iron Fist was chuckling at the display, and even the stoic Daredevil had a grin on his face.

Daredevil extended his hand to Spider-Man "don't worry Spider-Man we have a score to settle with them as well, we will handle them if they cause any trouble."

After shaking his hand Spider-Man and Black Cat said their goodbyes as they began their journey to Felicia's penthouse to recover. With the duo gone the rest of the defenders looked at Daredevil. While he couldn't physically see them he knew they were all staring at him.

"What?" he asked.

"How is he?" Iron Fist asked.

"I'm not a psychologist," Daredevil responded.

"Cut the shit, how is he?" Jessica asked, a bit sterner.

"His heart never stopped racing, I thought it was about Black Cat at first, but even after he reunited with her he still seems to be in great distress about something" Daredevil responded.

"Do you think he's still shaken up about the building falling on him?" Luke asked.

"As scary as it is to say I doubt it, when the bomb went off in the prison he was psychologically fine so I don't think the near death experience is it." Daredevil responded.

"Could it be that he is troubled by the death of this new Green Goblin?" Iron fist questioned.

"Now that you mention it, didn't the original goblin die in a fight against Spider-Man as well?" Jessica added.

"Maybe we should try to talk to him," Luke said.

"And we will, but for now let's let them rest and recover" Daredevil stated as the Defenders were all left with their thoughts.

Fisk Tower

Wilson Fisk was a man who planned for the best as well as the worse. After hearing of the late Harry Osborn's death we wasted no time in staking his bid for the remaining stakes of the Osborn company. He considered his venture a success. While the Defenders and Spider-Man are alive his Sinister Six also managed to escape before authorities arrived on scene. As far as he is concerned he will own what's left of Oscorp and begin merging it into Fisk Industries. Sitting at his desk he began to plot his next move. Slowly but surely his plans to take over the city will come to fruition, the only things in his way are the Defenders and Spider-Man. Seeing how the Defenders struggled against the Sinister Six he felt he had their number, but his new problem was Spider-Man. He seemed to be the piece of the puzzle he needs to crush before he can properly establish his empire.

"Maybe it's time I pursue Spider-Man a bit more aggressively."

Fisk pressed the button on his intercom "I have a new mission for the Sinister Six, assemble them at once."

New York

Felicia's Penthouse

Swinging through the familiar balcony Spider-Man was at his limit and almost collapsed as soon as his feet touched the floor. Thankfully Black Cat was there to help support his weight as they both stopped their way to the couch. Black Cat was the first to remove her mask and costume as she looked at her leg. She was annoyed to see it had swollen up like a balloon. Spider-Man took off his mask as he hit the emblem on his suit which filled it with air as it fell to the floor.

Felicia raised an eyebrow "well I see no matter what Tony Stark builds it's always impressive."

Felicia's breath hitched in her throat as she saw the freak scars, bruises, and stitches on Peter's body. She took a shaky step forward as she rubbed her hands all over him to make sure he was still really there. It wasn't until she looked up and focused on his face that she noticed he was crying "Peter, what's wrong?"

"I saw him, I saw my uncle Ben. He told me he forgave me and was proud of me. I thought I was dead, but he said it wasn't my time yet."

Before Felicia could utter a word Peter broke down sobbing "he's dead, my best friend Harry is dead. I know what he turned into, but that was the goblin formula. It wasn't him, oh god Harry first your dad and now you how can I even face Gwen."

The full weight of the day's events finally crashed down on him. He tried to be strong and keep it inside, but his brush with death, seeing his uncle again, and the death of his best friend all finally broke him.

Felicia was at a loss of words, the usually strong Spider-Man breaking down in front of her. She did the only thing she could think of at that moment she pulled him into a hug and held him as he cried. As he drowned in his sorrow Felicia was the light that brought him back, her embrace was everything to him in that moment.

"It's going to be ok Peter, somehow we will get through this together."

A/N

Spider-Man LIVES!

This ends what can essentially be Act 1 of the fan fic. What challenges and trials will Peter and Felicia face next? A few things yes Tony and the Avengers exist in this universe. No they won't all be appearing for an extremely long time if they appear at all. Peter and Tony will have some interactions but no he will not be like his MCU counterpart and depend on Stark technology.

Spider-Man Now Way Home comes out in three more days and I am excited. If anyone lives in the Jersey area and sees a Spider-Man cosplayer at the premiere that just might be me lol until next time thank you to everyone who continues to support this story and my vision.
