The Betrayal

After many days of gruesome battles and deaths, the battlefield became eerily quiet.

The war is over and the aftermath wasn't pretty. The moon was shining bright as a hooded figure walked down the battlefield, searching for someone special. After many lifeless faces of enemies and foes, the hooded figure finally stopped walking.

Cold gray eyes met dull brown ones

Draco Malfoy pulled down his hood, showing off his sleek blond hair. His face still remains handsome and unscratched as if the years of the war didn't have any affect on him. Draco crouched down and stared at the lifeless body. He couldn't help but think how beautiful she looks under the moonlight. He touched her soft hair then her cold pale face. A flash of sadness appeared in his steel eyes. Even though he suppressed the memories for many years, he couldn't help but think back of all the time they shared together.

"Feelings coming back Draco?"

Draco turned and saw a small hooded figure. Draco smirked and replied "Never"

"Good. Do your business and let's get out of here."

Draco looked back at the lifeless body and was relieved when he saw it. Around her neck was a small silver necklace with a ring. The ring had a shape of a dragon and a small emerald diamond for its eye. Draco took the necklace off her neck and then put the ring in his pocket. He couldn't believe that after all these years she still kept his ring. He's surprised that she still had hope for him after all these years of lies. Even when he pointed his wand at her chest and shouted the final spell, she still stated her love for him.

"Let's go"

Draco stood up and stared at her lifeless brown eyes for the final time. After this, he will forget about her and move on with his life. He will start fresh and forget about his past.

"Draco"

"Hmm?"

"I don't understand why you have to go through all this trouble to get this ring"

"It's a family treasure that I'm quite fond of and since she was my wife, I had to give it to her"

"Did you love her?"

Draco stayed quiet for a few moments then replied

"I did…"

"Really?"

Draco laughed as he saw her fiery hazel eyes shine through her hood

"You know I loved her for the wrong reasons…Hermione"

"I know" she smiled as she pulled down her hood

"Come on. Let's go home. The others are waiting."

Yes. Draco Malfoy did not feel guilty at all when he cursed Pansy Malfoy. He did it all for the right reasons and tha was Hermione.

The end.

Please R&R. Thanks. This is my first time. XP
