A/n hi guys. Sorry again for the delay. I've been super busy and I just finished a program I'd been in for two years so Ive been getting settled back in at home. Anyways, I got a request from RizRoliCacabot to explore more of Alex and Amanda's relationship so here it is. This will probably be two parts. I'm not exactly sure yet. Hope yall enjoy. Please follow, review and leave any kind of requests. Constructive criticism is also very welcome. To my new reviewer and follower, RachelHxxx, I will do your request for Olivia to reach her breaking point. Any ideas you have for that are greatly appreciated. This picks up where the last chapter left off. Sorry about the ending. I ran out of places to take this chapter.
"So, does she get to return to work?" Olivia asks.
There was nothing she wanted more than for the blonde to return to work, but she had her reservations.
"I feel she is ready," said Dr. Phillips.
I would recommend though, that she stay on desk duty, at least until her abductor is sentenced," she continued and Olivia sighed in releef while Amanda smiled before nodding and walking towards Alex and her captain. "I'll be good and listen to you," she signed and Liv just hugged her tightly in response.
"Oh, baby," she whispered. "You never have to worry about that," she continued.
Alex just watched the two with tears in her eyes. She knew the blonde's life had been changed forever and wasn't sure if she'd be the same. She would do her damnedest though to help them both.
"I still want you to come see me, Amanda," Dr. Phillips said and the blonde nodded. "I will," she signed back and the three women gathered their items before leaving the office.
Just as they got into the car, Olivia's phone rang and she sighed. If this was work, she didn't know what she would do.
"Benson," she answered and Alex watched as her friend frowned the longer the conversation continued. "Ok, I'll be there soon," she said before hanging up and looking at her two friends.
"So I have to go into work," she said. "I should only be gone for a few hours," she continued before taking a deep breath.
"Amanda, you can't come with me this time," she said as gently as possible and glanced at Alex before continuing.
"Will you stay with Alex?" She asked and mentally prepared herself for the meltdown she was sure would follow.
Surprisingly though, Amanda nodded with a smile. "Stay with Alex," she repeated immediately and the brunette let out the breath she didn't even know she was holding before looking at Alex who just smiled in response. "Is that ok?" She mouthed and Alex nodded with a smile.
She was looking forward to getting to know Amanda a little more.
A little while later, Olivia had dropped the two blondes off at the apartment and she was on the way to the station.
"So Amanda," Alex began and the blonde looked at her.
"How long have you worked with Liv?" She asked and she couldn't help but grin at the huge smile that came over Amanda's face.
"6 years, 7 months and 8 days," the blonde answered immediately making Alex raise her eyebrows in shock.
"Um, you know the exact length of time?" She asked and the young detective nodded with a grin. "hero," she said and the attorney looked questioningly at her before it clicked.
"Liv is your hero?" She asked, wanting to make sure she understood.
"Yes, Liv, hero, look up to her, wanted to work with her" she repeated and Alex smiled.
It truly was amazing how even though Amanda processed things totally different from the rest of them she still could find joy in the simplest or most difficult things, even working for the special victims unit.
Amanda pulled out her notebook before beginning to write. "How did you meet Liv?" She wrote before reading aloud and blushing.
"It's ok, Amanda," Alex said seeing the blonde blush. "Do what you need to do." "You're not any different than me or anybody else," She continued and the blonde just looked down. "Retard," she suddenly blerted out and the attorney was immediately concerned.
"Did someone call you that?" She asked, already knowing the answer.
"Why'd you bring the retard," she said, beginning to pace and Alex began trying to play catch up and see what she could've missed.
"Did someone say that to Liv?" She asked and the blonde nodded but continued to pace.
"You may be the captain, but we don't need some retard on this case, Amanda you can't come with me this time," she said beginning to cry.
"Oh, sweetie come here," Alex said and Amanda through herself at her.
"Shhh," she said. "That's not why Liv couldn't take you with her," she continued.
"It was because it was about your abductor," she said and Amanda's eyes widened.
She pulled herself away from Alex and resumed her pacing.
"Olivia doesn't need a Freak like you on her squad," she said and Alex sighed. She knew these words weren't Amanda's own.
She reached for her phone and texted the brunette.
Alex: "Problem with Amanda."
A minute or so later she received a response.
OB: "What's wrong?"
Alex: "She's upset she couldn't go with you." "Apparently someone told her you didn't need a retard on your squad."
In her office at the station, Olivia let out a long breath when she read the message. She was afraid of this because of how strange the blonde was acting the day before and the fact she drove herself home, but she hoped she was wrong.
Alex's phone rang and she answered on the second ring seeing it was Liv.
Amanda was still pacing the length of the sitting room.
"Hey, Liv," she said as she answered the phone.
"What the hell happened?" She asked and Alex sighed.
"She was upset because she had to write something down for me and when i told her she wasn't any different than anyone else, this started," she said.
"See if she will take the phone," she said and Alex glanced at the blonde who was still pacing.
"She's... upset," the blonde attorney answered and the brunette sighed.
"Put the phone on speaker," she said. "Ok," she answered.
"Hey sweetie," Olivia said and at the sound of the brunette's voice through the phone Amanda stopped pacing and looked at Alex before sitting in her lap.
"She began signing and Alex glanced down at the phone." "She's signing," Alex said.
"Hey, baby, can you talk to me?" Olivia said softly.
"Come home," Amanda said in a small voice and both Alex and Olivia nearly lost it.
"I will, baby, I will," Olivia said and Amanda began to relax a little.
"Not a retard," she said after a few beats of silence and both women went on alert.
"I know, baby," Olivia said quietly. "Tucker had no right to say that to you," she continued.
"Work in your office, go home with you," she said as she once again began to cry.
"Yes, baby, you can work in my office," she whispered. "I'm leaving now," she said and Alex kissed Amanda's head in response.
"Here that, sweetie?" She asked. "Liv is coming home."
A few minutes later, the sound of a key turning in the lock caught both womens attention.
"Hey, you two," Olivia said as she walked into the sitting room and the young detective immediately began trying to hug her while signing hold me.
"Hang on, baby, let me sit down," she said, as she took a seat in the rocking chair. "Come here," she said and Amanda didn't need to be told twice.
When she was close enough, Liv picked her up and began cuddling her.
As Amanda began chewing on her fingers her other hand found its way to Olivia's t-shirt before she relaxed completely. "That's my good girl," Liv whispered beginning to rock and Alex looked at them with a loving smile.
"Ummm, what about her fingers?" She asked.
"It's ok for the moment," the brunette answered. "She's doing it to self sooth, not in a bad way though," she explained before wiping Amanda's chin where she was beginning to drool.
"Is she regressing?" Alex asked and Olivia shook her head. "No," she answered.
"She gets this way after I've been gone for a while," she continued.
"She thinks the world of you," Alex said after a few minutes and Liv smiled, as she felt Amanda's hands switch positions.
"I love her," she said, pressing a kiss to Amanda's head. She began chewing on the fingers of her other hand while looking at Liv.
"She's so good," Alex said after a few minutes and the brunette just gave her a knowing glance. "I don't know how anyone could hurt her."
"I know," Olivia said. "BaBa," Amanda said and Olivia held her a little closer.
"Ok, baby," she said.
"I'm gonna go but I'll be here tomorrow to stay with her," Alex said.
"Ok," Olivia said as the attorney let herself out.
"BaBa," she said and Liv smiled before giving it to her.
"There you go, good girl, close your eyes," she said as the blonde began sucking contentedly on the bottle as her eyes drifted closed.
"I love you," the blonde signed and the brunette cuddled her closer.
"I love you too, baby, I love you too," she said.
