Hello everyone. To my guest reviewer, I have done some thinking, and as soon as I read your review I thought where the hell did that come from So I changed some things as I said in the last chapter so this is the new chapter 24. I edited and combined some things for the last chapter. I kept what I wanted in the original copies of chapter 23 and 24 and combined them into chapter 23 so it looks a lot nicer. Thanks for reading. I am going to be getting this story back on track. Once again to my guest reviewer, thank you. That was exactly what I needed to hear. As far as the autism, I thought it was a bit unusual with her lifestyle until I began reading the Autistic Spencer Reid fandum on Arkive of our own. Definitely give that a try. That's where I got my inspiration from. Anyways enough of my rambling lol. Here is the next chapter.
Olivia was sitting in the rocking chair with Amanda still crying into her chest when Alex and Kim came flying through the door of the apartment, franticly demanding answers.
When Olivia looked up and Kim saw that the brunette had been crying herself she definitely knew something had happened. "Liv?" She whispered, carefully approaching the brunette and her sister.
"Your mom says she has to either live with them or you, but she can't stay here," she whispered.
"No," Kim said but Olivia just nodded, wiping the tears from her face. "Alex, what can we do?" Kim asked and the attorney just hung her head.
"We have to give them what they want," she said softly, desperately trying to hold back her own tears.
"This will destroy her," Kim said, nodding to her sister who was still hugging Olivia. "Maybe but if she's with you—." Alex started but Kim shook her head.
"Oh, that will be their first demand," she said, reading the other blonde's thoughts. "It's risky, but there's no way in hell I'm keeping her from Olivia," she said fiercely.
"Liv," Alex said quietly and the brunette just looked at her, and the attorney finally let a few tears fall when she saw Olivia's grief stricken face.
"I'll tell her," Olivia said as she gently shifted the blonde in her arms.
"Baby, there's something I have to tell you," she said softly and Amanda made eye contact with her. "Sweetheart, you have to go stay with Kim for a while," she continued and Amanda immediately started crying.
"Liv please, don't make me go," she sobbed, clinging to her boss like a lifeline and their wasn't a dry eye in the room at this point.
"Manda, listen to me," Kim said, kneeling down in front of her sister.
"You know I'm not like mama and daddy, don't you?" She asked and Amanda nodded as the tears continued to flow.
"I promise you, you will see Olivia as much as possible," she said and Amanda finally made eye contact with her. "P-promise?" She stuttered between trembling lips and her sister nodded seriously before carefully hugging her. "They... They... They don't want me to see Liv," she sobbed and Kim held her close once more.
"Can I tell you something?" She asked. "Uh-huh," she said and Kim smiled through her own tears.
"It's not up to them, no matter what they say because you're with me," she explained gently. "Can I still go to work?" She asked and Kim nodded.
"Of course," she whispered. "When do we have to go?" She asked tearfully and Kim let out a sad sigh. "Soon," she finally answered and Amanda turned and began sobbing into Olivia's shirt once more. "Amanda, I'm gonna start packing your stuff," Kim said gently but before she could leave the room there was a knock at the door.
Opening the door, Kim saw her parents on the other side.
"Get the fuck out," she growled, taking a step towards them. "I hope you're happy now," she said.
"I'm taking Manda away from the only person she truly trusts, and it's all because of you," she says angrily and surprisingly Beth Anne doesn't argue.
She actually looked guilty, and Kim just stared in shock.
"What?" She asked. "It's not as if you've suddenly developed a Conscience and decided to let her stay," she said and was stunned when her mother nodded.
"I made a mistake," Beth Anne said quietly and Kim just stared. "Come with me, I want to show you something," she finally said and motioned for her parents to follow her into the livingroom.
Entering the room they found Alex sitting on the sofa and Amanda still in Olivia's arms, refusing to be put down. "She doesn't want to go," Kim said, motioning to her sister who had begun trembling in her captain's arms and nodding towards Olivia, who was trying to wipe away tears once more from her own eyes.
"Baby, shh," Olivia said softly beginning to rock her detective in her arms, trying to keep her calm, even though she herself was terrified. "I'm sorry, captain Benson," came Beth Anne's quiet statement and the brunette just gave her a lookand the elder Rollins knew she better explain, and quickly.
"I was only thinking about what I wanted." "I wasn't thinking about what was best for my daughter or you," she continued and swallowed passed the baseball sized lump in her throat before carefully approaching the two and taking Olivia's hand that wasn't being held in a vice grip by her daughter.
"I want her to stay with you," she said softly and Olivia had to steady herself at the news. "I know you love her," she said and the brunette nodded with a slight smile.
"I was not the best mother, by any means." "I was an angry, abusive person who treated Amanda horribly and I chose to ignore her autism," she said as tears began making their way down her cheeks.
"This is the way I can make that up to her now," she said and was startled when Amanda spoke. "This is the way I can make that up to her now," she repeated immediately andBeth Anne looked at Olivia, the question clear in her eyes. "She's nonverbal," the brunette began and her mother nodded to show she was listening.
"The only thing she can do when she's like this is repeat someone else's words," she explained and Beth Anne nodded.
"Can I say something to her?" She asked and Olivia nodded. "Yeah, but don't be surprised if she repeats what you say," she explained. "She can understand what you are saying though."
"Amanda, I have something to tell you," her mother said gently and everyone in the room was stunned when Amanda gripped her mom's other hand. "I have something to tell you," she repeated, leaning back against Olivia for comfort.
"You can stay with Olivia," she said and Amanda just stared before her moms words clicked. "You can stay with Olivia," she began repeating before bursting into tears and hugging the brunette who hugged her back just as fiercely.
"You can stay with Olivia," she continued repeating through her tears and Olivia smiled, not even trying to hold in her own tears anymore. "Yeah, baby," she said. "You can stay with me."
Looking at Kim and Alex,Olivia saw they to were crying but they to had smiles on their faces. "Liv," Amanda said but she couldn't say anymore and just repeated the only words she could say. "You can stay with Olivia," she said as her hands began flapping at her side.
Olivia handed the blonde a pad and pencel, knowing she wanted to speak but was unable to. "Thank you, mama." "I feel safe here," she wrote before reading aloud.
"You're welcome, Amanda," she said gently and shared a smile with Kim who hugged her mom before whispering quietly in her ear, "You did the right thing."
"Well I think we are going to go," the other three said after a while.
Amanda had completely calmed and was happily cuddled against Olivia on the sofa quietly watching the tv. "Thank you, Beth Anne," Olivia said once more as she placed a hand on the woman's arm. "Like I said, Olivia, this is the least I can do," she answered softly.
Gathering their items they quietly left the apartment but promised to be back soon.
A few minutes later, Olivia entered her bedroom to see Amanda putting her items back in their original places. "Amanda, what are you doing, sweetheart," she asked softly and Amanda just looked at her with a smile that could've split her face it was so wide. "You can stay with Olivia," she answered before continuing to place items back in certain drawers and on shelves and the brunette smiled before walking over and hugging her.
"Hey, we need to get dinner." "Can you take a break?" She asked gently, knowing Amanda's autism made her have certain ways of doing things and one of them was she didn't like being stopped in the middle of a task.
"Can you take a break?" She repeated, giving herself time to process the question.
"Yes."
"Good," Olivia said with a smile as she lead Amanda into the kitchen.
THE next day Olivia was getting ready for work when Amanda appeared next to her, dressed in her work clothes and holding the brunette's keys.
"Going somewhere?" Olivia asked with a grin and Amanda nodded rapidly. "Going with you," she answered and Olivia took the blonde's free hand before beginning attempting to explain that it was her day off.
"Baby, it's your day off today, remember?" "Work is at 8:00 A.M." "We leave at 7:45," she said.
"Today you stay home," she said and Amanda just frowned at her. "Work is at 8 A.M," she repeated and the brunette let out a sigh.
"Not today," she said and the blonde hung her head, remembering her therapist's request for her to return to work.
"Don't want to be away from you," she said tearfully and Olivia pulled her close, kissing the top of her head.
"Ok, you can go with me," she said softly and the blonde beamed up at her.
Arriving at the station, they were greeted by Fin and Kat.
"Good morning Olivia, Amanda," they said with a smile. "Hi," Amanda whispered, waving shyly.
"Hey, sweetheart, I'm going to work in my office." "Do you want to work here with Fin or come in my office?" She asked softly and was surprised when the blonde indicated she wanted to stay with Fin.
"I want to try to be less dependent on you," she said and Olivia smiled. "I'm proud of you, but you know it's ok if you do need me," she said softly.
"Really?" "Yeah, baby it is," she answered with a smile, making the blonde smile back.
At around lunchtime, Amanda enteredOlivia's office and when the brunette saw her she stood up and gave her a hug. "Hey, sweetheart, are you ok?" She asked quietly and Amanda nodded.
"Just wanted to see you." "To loud out there," she said with a shutter as she motioned to the busy squad room.
That evening as they were driving home Amanda finally got up the courage to ask something she'd been wondering about.
She just hoped she wasn't about to make a huge mistake. "Liv, there is something I wanna ask you," she whispered and the brunette pulled the car gently to the side of the road before giving the blonde her full attention.
"What is it, baby," she asked gently.
"It's about where... where... where I'm going to live, in the long-term," she answered with a stutter and her captain new she was nervus.
"It's ok, sweetheart, you can ask me anything," she said.
Amanda took a deep breath before quietly asking, "Can... can... Can I live with you, Livy?"
