SAKURA AND VERSACE
04
UNDER THE TREES
Sakura was standing in the school parking lot eating her breakfast when an arm slid around her shoulders, startling her and causing her to drop her breakfast sandwich. "Ah shit, gomen Sakura-Chan," Naruto immediately apologizes but Sakura waves it off, "It's ok, I wasn't that hungry anyway."
"Ne, I still made you drop it, lunch is on me." He declares before pulling Sakura into a hug, causing the girl to tense. He was hugging her, in front of everybody. Everyone that walked past them looked at them oddly, especially the female population. The looks from them were far from savory.
"Ah Naruto-Kun, we should probably get to class shouldn't we?" Sakura laughed nervously as she squeezed the bicep that was wrapped around her waist.
"Of course Sakura-Chan," Naruto said letting her go and pulling her along. Sakura allowed herself to breathe and untense. Naruto didn't seem to be affected by the hug in the slightest but Sakura felt as if her whole equilibrium had been thrown off.
Why was his hug warm and tight and just so different from every other hug Sakura had ever received? Maybe she was just thinking too much into it, maybe she was just digging too deep into the fluttering in her stomach. Pushing the thoughts to the back of her mind, she sped her pacing up to where she wasn't just being dragged along.
"We can probably get that interview sometime this weekend," Naruto suggested from beside her, "With the game on Friday, I have Saturday and Sunday free."
Sakura blinked up at him, "There's a baseball game Friday?" She didn't remember hearing about it but then again Sakura never really went the extra mile of trying to be kept in the loop when it came to school events.
"Yup," Naruto chirped, "Against Akatsuki. There the team for that fancy advanced boarding school. Sasuke's brother goes there and he is itching to beat his ass."
"Oh," Sakura said simply, "I wish you both the best of luck."
"Wait, wait, you aren't gonna be there?" Naruto asked as they stopped in front of Sakura's first period classroom. The girl shook her head, "For what? I can get the highlights from you."
"Of course you can, but wouldn't it be even more fun if you came yourself."Naruto affirms as he leaned against the door, effectively crushing her between the door and his chest. Heat blossoms in Sakura's face as she pushes herself further into the wood door. "I mean yeah, but I don't really think-
"There's no need for that," Naruto laughs and leans back, "It'll be fun, there's no need to waste your brain power on it!"
Sighing heavily, Sakura shuffled on her feet, Naruto was right in a way. She was thinking too much into it but she just wasn't sure she was comfortable enough to go to the game. Just the thought of it made her heart begin to beat at a painful rate. Naruto seemed to notice her discomfort and immediately grabbed her hand to comfort her in a soothing voice, "I don't mean to push you if I am. I just thought you'd rather see me in action than during practice. It's ok if you don't want to come."
Breathing heavy to soothe herself, Sakura focused her attention on the thumb rubbing her knuckles softly as she grounded herself. "It's- It's ok. I-uhm- Maybe I'll come, just let me think about it, ok?"
"Bah! Take as much time as you need Sakura-Chan," Naruto said smiling dazzlingly at her before pulling away as the bell rang. "I'll see you during lunch?"
"You'll see me during lunch," Sakura nodded as the blonde disappeared down the hall.
"Was that Naruto Namikaze?"
Sakura spun around only to come face to face with one of her own friends, Karin Uzumaki. "I leave for a few days and I come back to you with Naruto Namikaze?! Am I in the twilight zone?" The girl huffed.
Sakura lays a head on her forehead, "You won't believe the last two days I've had."
Karin flipped her red-hair as they entered the classroom and took their seats, "Try me."
MOON RIVER
The next three periods fly by and lunch comes quicker than Sakura can account for. Karin sends her on her way with a sly smile and Sakura just rolls her eyes. She could only guess what the fiery-haired girl was gonna tell the rest of their small circle of friends.
Naruto, like a gentleman, is waiting for her at the cafeteria doors. Of course people stare at them as they pass but Sakura was quickly becoming accustomed to the strange and out-right mean looks. "I was thinking we could get our lunch and sit outside," Naruto says as Sakura comes to a stop in front of him.
"Your friends ok with that?"
"They'll be fine." Naruto shrugs before pulling her along to get their food.
Some dango and a cup of ramen later, the two were comfortable in the school yard under one of the many trees. Sakura sat cross-legged as Naruto stretched out his long body next to hers.
"Sakura-Chan, you sure you're ok from earlier?"
The rosette looked towards her company, Naruto's usual boyish face twisted with worry. She offered a smile, "Yeah, just got a little spooked that's all. Orange and black? That's the team colors right?"
"Yeah, maybe red wait-" Naruto blinked in confusion before his face morphs in realization, "Your gonna come to the game?"
Sakura shrugged, "Why not?" Despite the turning in her stomach, Sakura can't help the ditzy feeling that comes over her when Naruto smiles at her. The girl could already hear her mother in her ear, she was giving the woman every reason to believe her and Naruto were a couple.
"You're gonna have so much fun Sakura-Chan, I promise."
Though with the tightening in her stomach, there was that fluttering again. Strange but wonderful in every way. "I believe you."
Thank you everyone that left reviews, bookmarked, and/or favorited :)
With everything going on in the world, I hope you all are safe, sound, and healthy! A Lot of you are saying the chapters are short which I understand but that is intentional. This is a fast-paced story so I am trying to separate but not drag out any big turning points, one being in the next chapter! Thank you or understanding.
