Manhattan
Iron Man fought off as many Chitauri Soldiers as he could sustain.
"Jarvis, put everything we got into the thrusters!" Iron Man said.
"I just did." Jarvis said.
Iron Man left the streets and flew up into the sky.
Sky
7 Alpha 11 arrived outside the city. He flipped the switch to press the button. He pressed it. The missile was flying out to manhattan.
"Destination is in 2 minutes, 30 seconds mark." 7 Alpha 11 said.
Manhattan
Captain America and Thor battled, side to side. Captain America and Thor both threw their respected weapons. Thor caught Mjolnir, but as Captain America turned, an energy blast struck him down hard. Thor ran over to a broken car, swung the hammer and flipped the car over and over on its side, crushing a few Chitauri Soldiers.
Captain America tried to get up. Thor helped him back to his feet. Captain America raised his Shield back up.
"You ready for another bout?" Thor said.
"What? You gettin' sleepy?" Captain America said.
Stark Tower
Selvig, back in scientist mode, clacked away at his laptop.
Kitsune grabbed Kuri's scepter, slowly broke into the force field, almost touching the Tesseract.
"I can close it! Can anybody hear me? I can shut the portal down!" Kitsune said.
Manhattan
"Do it!" Captain America said.
"No, wait!" Iron Man said.
"Stark, these things are still coming!" Captain America said.
Inside the Suit
"I got a nuke coming in, it's gonna blow in less than a minute. And I know just where to put it." Iron Man said.
Sky
Iron Man caught up, now came at the missile from behind. The missile sped on. Iron Man grabbed it from behind, gripping it tightly.
With a mighty effort, he wrenched the rocket off its course. Steering it from behind, he accelerated quickly, flying straight up into sky, towards the portal.
Inside the Suit
"Stark, you know that's a one-way trip?" Captain America said.
"Save the rest for return, J." Iron Man said to Jarvis.
"Sir. Shall I call Miss Reiko?" Jarvis asked.
"You might as well." Iron Man said.
Stark Tower
Kitsune watched Iron Man in horror. On her waist, her cell was vibrating, with Tony's picture on it.
Helicarrier Bridge
Back in the bridge, every single agent held their breath as they too watched Iron Man fly up into the portal.
Sky
Iron Man climbed higher and higher over the city, gaining speed, suddenly flung himself through the portal. Communications died. The suit began to freeze. Tony looked in horror.
Helicarrier Bridge
Every single agent cheered. Fury smiled. He tried to communicate with Tony. Nothing.
Space
There was an armada. The black sky was filled with ninety ships in a vague cluster. Most of them hung still in the air. Some moved swimmingly about.
Iron Man let go of the missile. It whistled off into the blackness as Iron Man idly fell back down the portal's opening.
The missile reached the main ship. The main ship imploded, causing the entire armada to burst into a supernova, creating a spectacular heavenly display.
Manhattan
Suddenly, all of the Chitauri Soldiers and Chitauri Leviathans keeled over and began to shake, then stop. They all fell over. The Avengers looked up at their consultant, not sure if he would make it through.
Stark Tower
Still holding the scepter in hand, Kitsune shifted around, waiting.
"Come on, Stark..." Kitsune said.
Manhattan
Thor and Captain America saw the supernova coming towards them. Thor nodded to Captain America.
"Close it." Captain America said to Kitsune.
Stark Tower
Without hesitating, Kitsune pulled the scepter out, the Tesseract turned off its energy beam. The portal quickly closed. A small figure was hurled backwards into the open now closed portal. Iron Man. Plummeting to the earth.
Manhattan
"Son of a gun!" Captain America smiled.
Iron Man kept falling. And falling. And falling.
"He's not slowing down." Thor said.
Thor swung Mjölnir around. Just as Thor flew up, The Hulk snagged Iron Man out of the air, both crashing and sliding down a building.
Bridge Street
Hulk threw Iron Man off him. Thor and Captain America ran over to him. Thor ripped off Tony's helmet. He appeared to be dead. They stood around not sure. Then... the Hulk yelled in fury. The noise startled Tony awake.
"What the hell? What just happened? Please tell me nobody kissed me?" Tony said.
"We won." Captain America said.
"Alright. Hey. Alright. Good job, guys. Let's just not come in tomorrow. Let's just take a day. Have you ever tried shawarma? There's a shawarma joint about two blocks from here. I don't know what it is, but I wanna try it." Tony said.
"We're not finished yet." Thor said sadly, thinking of his brother.
"And then shawarma after." Tony said.
