Chapter One: Going down the rabbit hole Gilberts

Bonnie Bennett was beside herself as she heard from Liz Forbes that Elena and Jeremy Gilbert were in a car crash. Tyler Lockwood was driving the other car with Matt Donovan and a cheerleader named Hannah Harvey. The football player had complained about a piercing sound and began swerving around.

He let go of the steering wheel and held his head, car smashing into Elena and Jeremy's car when they were driving home from the parade together.

The paramedics went over to them first as it looked like the two were seconds away from death. Elena's head had been smashed into the steering wheel and glass shards not just cut into her body but they were afraid that her skull had been separated from the spine.

Jeremy was not as bad but they thought his back had been snapped.

The young witch paced outside of their conjoined room as she waited for Caroline, Stefan and Jenna who was driving on her way from her college. She felt her stomach twist and churn when she saw how they looked when she entered the hospital.

The blood had been cleaned up but they were pale-almost snow colored. Everything about them was limp and flat. The sparkle that would appear in Jeremy's eyes when he would get to a new level in a video game was gone, the brightness of Elena's eyes when she would find something interesting to photograph-like a plant or the scenery-wasn't there.

Tears fell and she had to sit down in one of the waiting room chairs, body hunched as she buried her face in her hands. Each sob that tore from her throat made her body shake.

She couldn't lose anyone else in her family and as she managed to look up, she saw Caroline strut into the waiting room in a sunny summer dress with her hair looking next to perfect. She was holding Stefan's hand as Damon appeared behind them, talking lowly to Liz who was looking worriedly around.

"How are they?" Stefan asked in worry and Bonnie pointed, unable to speak. He slipped into the room and had to close his eyes as the machines hooked up to the Gilbert siblings looked like they were the only things keeping them alive but their hearts were beating-slow but steady.

"Save them," Bonnie whispered the words to Stefan who turned to look at her. "Give them blood to save them. Please." He wanted to deny her request but he didn't.

He couldn't and as he walked further into the room, he bit into his wrist and looked at them sadly. Making his way over to Jeremy he gave him his blood before doing the same thing to Elena.

Stepping back, he hoped that they would be better soon enough.

The dripping sound of the saline going into the plastic tube connected to her caused her eyes to flutter open and take a look around her surroundings.

Elena Gilbert was awake and alive and as she looked beside her, she saw her brother in the same boat as her.

"Jer how do you feel?" She asked him and he gave her a weak smile.

"I could be better," he admitted before he began to cough which triggered Elena to start her coughing fit. "So much better." He groaned and flopped back on the bed. Elena following suit on hers and as she looked towards the door, she saw Damon Salvatore there.

"What are you doing here?" She asked him and he gave her a low growl before he smothered her with a pillow, doing the same thing to Jeremy right after Elena stopped struggling. Once he was done smothering them he left the hospital.

He had no idea what he had just done.

The moment Elena sat up, chest heaving; she had wide eyes that were almost filled with tears. She pulled her knees up to her chest and felt dead inside. Tears fell from her eyes as she remembered Damon smothering her with her pillow and as she turned her head to see her brother, her shock was huge.

He was sitting up as well, holding a blood bag and drinking it like a juice box. For some reason she was eyeing the bag and as he looked at her, the veins under his eyes pulsed slightly. Grabbing another bag, he tossed it to her and she drank it, almost screaming in pain as her canines were extending and becoming sharper, pointier actually.

She couldn't stop and as she tossed the bag into the garbage can beside her, she looked at Jeremy.

"What happened to us?" She asked him. "What happened?"

"Hell if I know," he admitted. "I'm getting memories of Damon tickle torturing me."

"I wanna kill him," Elena snarled only to put a hand over her mouth. "Why did I just snarl?" She asked horrified.

Caroline wasn't that worried about Elena and Jeremy-they were both doing okay according to Stefan whose lap she was straddling. Her fingers were digging through his hair, pulling as he flashed her to his bed, pinning her down.

The moment his lips moved from hers he was peppering her skin in kisses and she moaned.

"You look beautiful," he whispered against her sweat slick skin. "So beautiful." She smiled and kissed him as her dress was on the floor.

"Would you say you like me more than the Gilbert siblings?" She asked as he nipped her.

"She's not as beautiful as you," he told her honestly. He couldn't see anything past a friendship with them. "I'd rather have you."

She smiled and gave in to the pleasure he was giving her.

Damon was drinking as he saw Caroline leaving Stefan's room and he asked, "how was little brother tonight?" She looked at him and gave him a very Caroline smile.

"Unsatisfying," she said as she went over to him. "Can I have some bourbon?" He poured her a drink and as she took a sip of it, he smirked.

"So he decided to leave you unsatisfied?" He repeated. "Why are you down here?" She shrugged.

"I have a thing for the bad boys," she whispered as though she were admitting her big secret. "I have a thing for bad boys." She pretended to blush and look away only for Damon to have her against the wall. He kissed her and then as he pulled away, he began to choke her.

"Hello Katherine," Katherine Pierce gave him a look and broke his arm as she removed his hand from her neck. "Why are you back in town?"

"Feeling sentimental," she said evasively. "How about you have a night with me while your brother is with my duller than a dishwasher doppelme Caroline?" Damon looked at her in shock and her lips were pulled into a smirk. "You didn't think that I haven't been watching you all? I've been watching you both."

She kissed him and pushed him down on the ground, going on his lap and kissing him fiercely. He kissed back and ripped her shirt open, revealing the black lace as he pushed her against the wall.

The cryptic text from Elena made Bonnie drive as fast as she could to the hospital. She had put that something happened and she didn't know what was wrong with her and Jeremy.

Getting into Elena and Jeremy's joined room, she saw that they were staring at her with black wriggling veins underneath their eyes.

"I don't know what's going on with us," she whispered. "We drank a blood bag-which still makes me slightly gag-but this is what happened." She pointed to the veins and the teeth. "I don't know what's going on! I know that witches, vampires and werewolves exist but this?" She placed her hand in the sliver of light that made her hand glow. "What is this?"

Bonnie was paling as she saw her friend's hand glow the same color as the sunrise. When she removed her hand, the lights above them began to fracture and break.

"Those are the symptoms of a witch under stress," Bonnie whispered as she pointed to the breaking lights. "I don't know the rest though." Bonnie felt a little upset with herself, as she didn't know anything that much about her own kind.

She had wanted to know but her father refused and when she was given a chance Damon stole it from her-he wanted to free Katherine from the tomb she wasn't even in.

Closing her eyes, she began to chant, as she needed to know what was going on with her friends.

"Oh Bunny…" Bonnie opened her eyes and shock filled her as Elena and Jeremy could see Sheila Bennett. "I wish I were there to tell you and teach you as well as the Gilberts but…Bonnie you are going to need to teach them. They are Witchpires-half vampire and half witch. There's a subset of witchpires that are witches who were not born with their own power and steal-or borrow-the powers. In this case Elena and Jeremy had their power hidden deep within them due to Grayson and John's mother."

The moment Sheila vanished, Bonnie looked at Elena and Jeremy who were shocked though Elena looked ready to scream. Jeremy went over and hugged her, rubbing her back.

"Don't worry sis," Jeremy whispered. "We'll learn how to use magic while hopefully we can be taught to be the best vampires in the world." Elena smiled and nuzzled his cheek.

"How did you both die?" Bonnie asked, her voice barely heard by her own ears. "What happened?"

"Damon smothered us," Elena whispered sadly. "He just came in, looked at us and the pillows were over our faces." She looked at her hands. "I was first." She looked at Bonnie, tears in her eyes. "Why did he kill us? What did we do to him?"

"He tickle tortured me while trying to seduce me," Jeremy growled as his eyes flashed from brown to black instantly. "I don't even like him!"

Elena made her hands curl into fists and the windows shattered under her anger. Bonnie jumped and Elena looked horrified.

"Oh god," Elena whispered. "Are you okay? Did I accidentally hurt you?" Fear and disgust washed over her. Bonnie went over to the newly transitioned hybrid and ran a hand through her hair; another hand went through Jeremy's as his anger was felt throughout the room.

"No I'm fine but I want to kill Damon for what he did to you two," Bonnie told them. "I want to see him suffer." Her mind was going a million miles a minute with each and every way she could torment him. "Can you both help me toss him into the tomb?"

"Would we have to release him?" Elena asked and Bonnie shook her head.

"We'll do it but can we get out of here?" Jeremy asked and Bonnie laughed.

Once Caroline was gone Stefan went into Damon's room to see how he was doing only to catch him with Katherine, both of them in the middle of sex and bloodsharing.

"Next time just keep the door closed," Stefan told him. "No one wants to see you with the whore." He slammed the door and walked away, a part of him feeling disgust as well as anger at his brother.

As Elena and Jeremy were getting certain areas of the carnival ready, Bonnie was with Caroline who was using a checklist. She was looking at one of the many ball toss games they had-this one was with tossing a ball on top of a bottle.

"Make sure everything goes according to plan," Caroline told some of the football players. "I don't want anything to ruin this carnival."

Bonnie nodded as she made notes on her clipboard, making sure that everything was perfect when she asked, "have you spoken to Elena and Jeremy?" Caroline scoffed as she fluffed the curls at the ends of her hair.

"No," she said with a glower at the clipboard in her hand. "I haven't. They weren't at the hospital when I stopped by to see them and Jenna was keeping them home for a while." She didn't say that she didn't go to the Gilbert residence but her mother did to check up on them.

She was told by her mother that Richard Lockwood did die and that Carol was distraught to plan a wake for him so she was.

On top of that Elena and Jeremy were undoubtedly suing Tyler Lockwood for the car crash as well as almost dying.

It caused her a bit of anger that Stefan found a way to get rid of for her before she even got here.

Bonnie eyed her and shrugged; knowing that Caroline wouldn't have gone to visit them if someone hadn't of pressured her into doing it. It seemed as though Caroline was slowly becoming someone that she was willing to wish she had never met.

Since she began dating Stefan she was so wrapped up in him, in his words and the unseen by the blonde toxic relationship Caroline herself had with both Salvatores…she was becoming selfish to the point that her style was becoming the worst version of couture clothing.

"I saw them and they're doing good," Bonnie said as they made their way to the next stall that was doing face painting. "They're shaken up but they're doing good. They decided to come here and help with the carnival."

Caroline looked at her curiously.

"Do you want to go see them?" She asked the witch. Caroline's body hugging light grey tunic matched with her dark grey leggings and black heeled boots.

Bonnie's blue spaghetti strap dress fluttered in the wind as well as her ponytail. Bonnie turned her head and eyed her.

"Don't you want to see how they're doing?" Bonnie asked her. "I'm sure that they'd love to see you."

Stefan saw Elena and Jeremy-both in jeans and while Elena's shirt was over one shoulder, Jeremy's was a black short sleeve one- getting things ready when the young man turned and glared, his eyes turning black with wriggling veins underneath them, causing Stefan to look horrified at him.

"Jeremy?" He asked softly and Elena turned her head, glaring at him. Her own black eyes were sharper, fiercer looking as the black veins underneath her own eyes were wriggling. "Elena? What happened?"

"Damon smothered us last night and we woke up in transition," Elena snarled so that he could hear. "We transitioned and we want Damon dead as he tried seducing my brother while tickle torturing him."

The horror, sadness and anger swirling on Stefan's face was surprising to see. The sadness was clear to see on his face while the horror and anger shone in his eyes.

"I can teach you both how to feed," he promised. "Though I don't think you both should have Daylight Rings…I'll talk to Bonnie about it." Elena and Jeremy smirked and showed him their Daylight Rings.

"She actually thought we needed the rings as we wanted to be out in the world," Jeremy snarked at him. "She helped us feed from blood bags and taught us what we needed to know about vampirism-or what she knew about vamprisim." Stefan winced and as he saw the way the two were with each other-supportive.

"Do you both still need help with anything?" He asked. "I can help you both with anything."

Elena and Jeremy looked at each other before they looked at him.

"If there's anything that you both need come find me," he said with a sad smile. "Please."

Elena was smiling as she was playing some of the carnival games with Jeremy, both of them keeping just how strong they are to themselves when Caroline found them.

"Why are you two suing Tyler for your mistake Elena?" Caroline asked in a demanding voice. Elena glared at her while Jeremy edged away.

"It was his fault Miss Prissy Bitch," Elena snapped as she smirked, her fangs on display. "He was swerving around and acting irrational." Caroline had to step back as she was staring at her friend in fear. "You wanna blame someone blame him. Him and Damon."

"Damon's a gentle soul and a bit misguided," Caroline defended him and Elena began to choke her. "Stop it! You're hurting me!" Her cry sounded like a whine that annoyed her ears.

"Oh give it a rest," Jeremy glared at her as he spoke. "He's at fault and you're too much in love with an asshole as well as his brother."

Damon looked at Elena and Jeremy in horror. As he grabbed Elena's arm, she snapped his forearm and began to choke him, her eyes darkening as well as her veins coming out on full display.

"Look at what you did to me and my brother," she snarled and Jeremy was glowering at him with his own vampire visage on display. "Look at what you did!"

"You both should be dead," he snapped angrily. "I smothered…" he began to pale as he stared at them. "You had blood? Who gave you blood?" They looked at each other before shrugging but as Damon was about to bite her, his neck was snapped and they saw three men there.

The one in the sharp black suit smiled at Elena and kissed the back of her hand.

"I'm Elijah Mikaelson," he said smiling. "This is my half brother Niklaus," the blonde man smiled charmingly at Jeremy, "and our mutual friend Malachai 'Kai' Parker," he added as the young man with them smiled. "You two are?"

"Elena Gilbert and this is my brother Jeremy," she said smiling. "It's a pleasure to meet you."

Elijah grinned.

"It's a pleasure to meet you as well Miss Gilbert," he said. "Very much a pleasure."
