Welcome back to another chapter! I hope you all enjoy!
It was a quiet day in Mustafa. It seemed even villains were taking the weekend off as Izuku wandered the town. It was a clear sunny day and the weather was nice and warm. He had just celebrated his 12th birthday last week so Izuku wanted to try to explore the city a little.
As he was walking down a street, Izuku found himself passing tall walls and a tall building.
"Ah, Mustafa's private middle school. It's supposed to be really good, wonder if I will have any future classmates from there?" Izuku mumbled to himself as he continued to walk by the gate.
The sound of crying caught Izuku's attention as he walked by an ally way. Maybe in another life, Izuku would have walked by too nervous to approach, or maybe he would never even be around here. Either way, the thought of just walking away never entered Izuku's mind as he entered the alley. If one person believed that he could be a Hero, then Izuku was not going to let his nerves from stopping him. He just has to take it one step at a time.
As he approached the source of the crying he was surprised by the bright pink person he found. The person wore a female uniform, had pink skin and hair, and had two yellow horns that stuck out. Izuku's eyes sparkled with curiosity and were about to ask what her quirk was until a loud sob from her reminded Izuku why he was standing there. Reaching into a pocket, Izuku pulled out a packet of candied chocolate. He approached the girl, he held out the packet of candy to her.
"Would you like some candy?"
The girl nearly jumped out of her skin hearing Izuku speak to her. Izuku was surprised at her black eyes with yellow irises. Once more Izuku moved to ask her about it before holding himself back. Now wasn't the time to be asking stuff when she was so distraught.
The girl stared at him with wide teary eyes. Her nose was running a little. She quickly wiped her face clean with her sleeve before she once more stared up at the strange boy who was offering her candy.
"I… I would love some candy." The girl reached out to take it before she paused. "Wait, how do I know you're not trying to do something fishy?"
Izuku gave his nervous shaky grin, "Well, I… that's a fair point. Stranger danger and all that." Izuku rubbed the back of his head with his free hand. "Er, I guess I introduce myself. I-I'm Izuku Midoriya. I-I'm sorry to b-bother you. I-It didn't feel right to leave a person crying in an ally alone."
The girl stared at Izuku with narrowed eyes for a few long moments. A wide grin erupted forth as her eyes filled with so much positive energy.
"I'm Mina Ashido, it's nice to meet you Midoriya-kun," Mina said.
Izuku was internally screaming at her usage of -kun but said nothing as he held out the packet of candy again.
"I-it's nice to m-meet you Ashido-san, w-would you like the c-candy still?" Izuku said shaking the packet lightly.
Mina gave a shy nod as she held out a hand for it. Izuku handed to her, he jumped back at how fast Mina pulled away and ripped the packet open. She quickly popped a few pieces into her mouth and moaned in delight tasting the chocolate.
Izuku smiled as he watched Mina munch on the candy. Looking around, Izuku ended up taking a seat across from Mina. Mina's eyes snapped open when she felt something bump her foot. Her eyes widened when she saw Izuku sitting across from her. She felt her cheeks heat up as she watched the boy pull out a notebook from his backpack and begin to scribble in it. She said nothing as she slowly continued to munch on the candy.
"So, why are you still here?" Mina said causing Izuku to jump.
"O-oh, I-I-I'm sorry. Sh-should I-I l-leave?" Izuku stuttered hard as he tried to pack up.
"No, no, don't go," Mina said causing Izuku to freeze. "I… I guess I'm just curious as to why you're still sticking around here."
Izuku tilted his head hearing a bitter tone at the end but didn't comment on it.
"W-well," Izuku cleared his throat, "I-I didn't want to l-leave y-you alone incase you n-needed something."
"That's really kind of you," Mina said softly before a teasing smile appeared, "Trying to be a hero and save the damsel in distress?"
Izuku gave a nervous laugh, "Yeah, I guess you could say that."
"You'd probably be a great hero if you're like this all the time." Mina said smiling at his awkwardness before a more bitter smile took its place, "You probably got a super awesome quirk that help you become a big-time pro, huh?"
Any awkwardness immediately left Izuku. He gave Mina a sad smile as he curled his leg to his chest and hugged them.
"I can't say I do," Izuku said softly, "being quirkless doesn't really help my chances of going pro."
Mina's hands flew to her mouth upon seeing Izuku's sad smile.
"I'm so, so, so so—"
"Please don't apologize." Izuku held up a hand cutting her off. "I don't want anyone's pity and I'm not about to let it stop me from being a hero and from going pro. One day I will be able to go out and be able to bring a smile to everyone's face just like All Might."
The intense look in Izuku's voice and eyes brought a smile to Mina's face. Happiness bubbled within her before she burst into giggles. Izuku blinked hearing her laughter and let out a resigned sigh.
"Wait, sorry for laughing, I just. I really felt that out of everyone one I've met that you were the only one that could be a hero," Mina said calming down.
Izuku looked at her with wide eyes, "You think so?"
"Totally! You got the determination, the desire, and you also got the heart. Going out of your way to try to cheer up a stranger in a dirty alley makes you a hero in my book," Mina said giving Izuku a thumbs up that caused him to beam.
"That means a lot to hear Ashido-san. What about you? Are you aiming to be a Pro Hero too?"
Izuku could only frown as he saw the happiness drain away to be replaced by a bitter look.
"No one would want some pink alien-looking girl as a hero," Mina almost spat out. "especially when all I can do is create acid that melts whatever it touches."
Sparkles filled Izuku's eyes, "That is so awesome though, what kind of acid can you create? Are you able to control its viscosity? Its corrosiveness? What is the strongest material you can dissolve? Is your skin and hair pink due to your body developing a resistance to your acid? Are able to melt concrete and metal? If so you would be an amazing urban rescue hero. Depending on the amount of acid you could produce you might be able to put out fires… Never mind, that probably causes more harm than good. If you can control the viscosity and corrosive strength, then you would also be excellent in villain subjugation and capture."
"Whoa, whoa there Midoriya-kun, don't forget to breathe," Mina said cutting of Izuku.
"Huh, I-I'm sorry. I-I have a bad habit of just mumbling my thoughts," Izuku said with a nervous smile.
"Do you… do you really think I can be a hero?" Mina said.
"Huh? Of course! A quirk like yours would be amazingly useful in many situations," Izuku said giving Mina a wide grin.
"Even if I look like this?" Mina gestured to herself.
"Huh, you look perfectly fine. You are unique, but that will probably help you when you go Pro. I know some heroes use their good looks or sex appeal to win more fans, but I doubt you will have any trouble with that. I-I-I mean—" Izuku snapped his mouth shut as Mina gave him a teasing smile.
"You mean?" Mina said in a teasing voice.
"Th-th-that y-y-you're a-already re-re-really p-p-pretty," Izuku managed to stutter out.
Mina herself blush, hard. She then stood up and pulled Izuku up too. Mina quickly wrapped him in a hug and let him go just as quickly.
"You're really are a hero. You know just what to say to make everything better," Mina said patting the poor blushing boy on the arm. "I'm treating you to lunch for making today so much better. Where'd you want to eat?"
"Y-you don't have to do that Ashido-san. I-I'm just happy that I wasn't just a nuisance."
"None sense, a hero deserves a reward and yours is lunch. You have no option to decline." Mina said pushing Izuku out of the alley and down the road.
Izuku was still blushing but he let himself get pushed forward. A small smile crossed his face. He did not know what to expect walking down that alleyway but he was happy that he did now.
"Midoriya-kun, you better give me your phone number too. I declare we're going to be the best of friends from this day forward!"
"Eh?!"
