August 7th Ministry of Magic
Harry steps out of the floo after a very uncomfortable first trip. RipClaw follows shortly after and signals for Harry to follow him. They walk towards a side room where it seems there is a man waiting for them. "Let me introduce you to your solicitor who will be acting on your behalf at the trial today. This is Ted Tonks one of the best solicitors in magical London and commonly works with Gringotts." says RipClaw. Ted Tonks holds out his hand to shake hands Harry gladly accepts and says "Harry James Potter glad to make your acquaintance." RipClaw then tells Harry "this is where I must take my leave I trust Tonks to get you registered and show you to your seat for the trial do try to stay out of trouble." RipClaw then turns and leaves the ministry.
Ted Tonks then leads Harry to the reception desk to get his wand registered and a visitor pass approved so that they could use the lifts. The guard at the desk seemed disinterested with his work until Harry's name was spoken after which he became more attentive. With his pass they then proceeded to the lifts within the ministry Ted guiding Harry to a lift that was free of others. Ted hit a button on the panel and a voice in the lift said "level nine department of mysteries and courtroom ten." Ted then turns to Harry and states " Ok so we are heading to courtroom 10 where there will be a full trial before the full Wizengamot. I will show you to the Potter seat however you will not have a vote as you are not yet of age; you may however be called forth as a witness. Be respectful and mindful that these are all lords and ladies you will be talking to; however don't forget you are also an heir to a lordship do not let them talk down to you." Harry looks slightly perplexed at the information dump but stores away the knowledge for later and asks "What if I've already claimed my house ring and Lordship over house Potter." Ted looks at Harry slightly dumbfounded asks " Have you already done so and the magic accepted you?" Harry nods in the affirmative and shows him the ring. "Well that is interesting however I doubt that the Wizengamot will accept you as a lord among their peerage unless you have been emancipated and even then they will be hesitant to do so." The lift then comes to a stop and announces the floor once more as Ted leads Harry out and to a stairwell leading down once more a minute later they arrive at a large set of wooden doors with iron spikes in them. Ted pulls open the door and leads Harry up a set of stairs to the right of the entrance and towards the high seats some of them already being occupied. While Ted leads Harry to his seat Harry notices some of the others whom are in the chamber already ther are two slightly intimidating looking women talking to each other one wearing a monocle with red hair and the other a strange hat with grey hair. On the other side of the top seats were several men whom seemed to be huddled together and having a whispered conversation one of the men stood out because his hair was close to a platinum blond but not quite of the faces he saw in the group all seemed to scowl. Harry then arrived at his seat it so happened that it was right next to the lady with the strange hat and gray hair. Ted told Harry "well this is your seat now I must be going and get to my seat so I may be called to represent my charge." After Ted left the woman looked over at Harry. " Pray tell me what you are doing here boy by what means do you intend to sit the seat of Potter?" She says quite reproachfully. "It is my right as Heir Potter and possible witness at this trial." says Harry with steel in his voice looking directly at the woman who challenged him. "That must mean you are Harry Potter why yes now that I look you do remind me very much of your father my daughter was your unofficial godmother sadly she wasn't able to perform her duties as such. My name is Augusta Longbottem sorry for my rudeness I just couldn't possibly let someone disrespect the noble seat of Potter our houses were allied for decades after all." Madam Longbottem explained. Harry's expression lightened considerably at hearing this and extended his hand taking hers and kissing the back of it. Harry then replied " No offense taken Madam Longbottem and thank you for honoring my house with your vigilance. I'm here for this trial is of great importance to me after all the heir of an ancient and noble house sentenced without trial is a travesty I'm sure you would agree." The Longbottem Matriarch looks appraisingly at Harry and states " yes everyone should receive a trial even if they are guilty as Black is." Harry chuckles and says "we'll see." They court room is now almost full and it seems that reporters have began filing in.
"On this Seventh day of August in the year of Nineteen ninety two I Cornelius Fuge do Hereby open this session of the Wizengamot will everyone take there seats." States a portly wizard in a purple robe and bowler hat. "First on the agenda today is the trial of Sirius Orion Black for the assistance in murder of James and Lily Potter and the murder of a dozen muggles. Further evidence having been provided and the fact that there was not a proper trial we have decided to hold the trial today. Now bring in the accused" the doors are thrown open and a gaunt and sickly pale man was shoved in surrounded by men in red robes with their wands out. Harry could hardly believe the shape that his godfather was in and his blood began to boil. Harry's magic began to roll of him in waves. Madam Longbottem patted his hand and said "control yourself Harry you are heir to the house of Potter." Harry glanced around and saw small things floating and then sought to calm himself everything settled around him. Then he noticed they had set Sirius in a chair and chains sprouted from it and wrapped around him. The Lady whom was speaking to Madam Longbottem earlier stood up near Fudge and stated "as acting head of the DMLE I Madam Bones will lead the trial May the accused state there name date of birth and current residence." Sirius then spoke with a voice that did not at all go with his look it was strong, deep, and commanding. "I am Sirius Orion Black born November third of the year nineteen fifty nine current residence Azkaban prison." At this Madam Bones frowned but continued on " You stand accused of assisting in the murder of James and Lily Potter and the murder Peter Petegrew as well as no less than twelve muggles. How do you plea?" Sirius glared at the woman and spat "NOT GUILTY!"
The entire courtroom took about three minutes and a few cannon blast charms to calm down. "Will the legal representative of the accused please come forth." Ted Tonks stood and headed to a seat next to Sirius Black. Upon his arrival he stated "Ted Tonks legal representative for Sirius Orion Black." Madam bone looked at the man quizzically not sure why he would be defending Black. "As far as the evidence goes for the prosecution we have eye witness reports of a duel between Black and a Peter Petegrew that resulted in the death of Petegrew and twelve muggles the only thing recovered from Petegrew was a finger. As for assisting in the murders of the Potters everyone knows he was the secret keeper. What has the defense to bring as their evidence." Ted opened his brief case and brings out a document and states "the will and testament of James and Lily Potter which states that Sirius Black is Harry Potters Godfather and that he had taken the oath." Upon hearing this madam Bones sends her aid down to retrieve the document while the courtroom is in hushed whispers. Amelia Bones looks over the will and sees that it is legitimate and questions "What affect does Sirius Black being Harry's godfather have to do with this case?" In retort Ted states "as he took The Godfather's oath he would not be here with us had he supplied the location of the Potters to anyone intending harm to them. Especially Harry his magic would have killed him as for the rest of the defense I ask that my client be tried under veritaserum. Ask him about what happened with Petegrew and wether he was the secret keeper." Madam Bones frowns and motions for someone and they bring forward a vial and administer the contents to Sirius. "State your name date of birth and current residence for the court Mr Black" Sirius intones in a detached voice "Sirius Orion Black November third nineteen fifty nine Azkaban prison." Madam bones says " May the court be affirmed that Black is now under veritaserum and keep in mind that only questions pertaining to this case may be asked. Me Black Did you kill Peter Petegrew and those twelve muggles." Sirius then replied "No I did not kill Petegrew or any muggles but I wish I had killed Petegrew he was the secret keeper it was my ideal. I'm the reason James and Lily are dead." Hearing this broke Harry's heart for he could tell that the man blamed himself for the death of Harry's parents. Madam Bones then questioned " did you know Petegrew was going to reveal the information to you know who. What happened to Petegrew." Black looked straight at Bones and said " No I did not know. Petegrew escaped he is an animegus his form is a rat." Madam Bones then stands and says "we will have ten minutes for deliberation and then we vote." Madam Longbottem looks at Harry and says wait he is innocent. Harry just looks at her with a grin and a wink.
"All in favor of dropping all charges on Sirius Orion Black." Roughly 60% of the chamber raise their wands. "All in favor of conviction" Roughly 30% raise their wands. "I Amelia Bones hereby declare Sirius Orion Black innocent and cleared of all charges. Let me also be the first to apologize for the lack of trial and due process that caused him to suffer in Azkaban." The reporters began taking pictures like crazy and the chains unwrapped from around Sirius. Sirius stood up and shook Teds hand. Meanwhile Harry is bolting down the stairs to go see his godfather. Once Harry makes it to his godfather he wraps Sirius in a big hug. Sirius taken back looks down and sees Harry and tears begin to fall he kneels down and returns the hug. "Let's get out of here pup where are you staying." Harry and Ted then proceeded to lead Sirius out and to the floo. Harry then tells Sirius Potter Cottage shakes hands with Ted and floos home. Shortly after Sirius steps out of the floo to the sight of Harry cooking something on the stove. "Harry what are you doing why are you cooking." Asks Sirius. Harry replies "you look like you could use some food and I'm starving." Sirius looks at Harry like he is mad "Where are the house elves Harry you shouldn't have to do this."
"The house elves died Sirius with no one around to help keep the wards charged on the manor and no one for them to receive magic from they didn't make it." Harry looked sad about the deaths of the elves Sirius looks at Harry and says "I'm sorry Harry I didn't know and I know your just meeting me but I hope you know that I'm sticking around your my godson after all. After lunch I will have to head to Gringotts to get some things in order I need to claim my title as Lord Black we will go out and celebrate for dinner by the way how is the Manor I remember it from when I was a kid." Harry sighed "The Manor is having its wards stripped and reapplied some of them failed due to no one living there and the goblins said it would be unsafe to inhabit until they were done. Here you go lunch is served. What would you like to drink? I have Coca-Cola orange juice and I can make tea." Harry handed Sirius a large bowl of stew and a plate with rolls. Sirius thinks and says "Your mom used to talk about Coca-Cola I will try one of those." Harry walked to the fridge and grabbed a can and handed it to Sirius. Harry then fixed Himself some stew and they ate together. Sirius praised Harry for his cooking skills. After finishing lunch Sirius told Harry goodbye and left for Gringotts. Harry then grabbed some parchment and a quill and wrote a quick letter tied it to his owls leg and sent her off. Sirius would have a surprise when he returned.
