Chapter 3

A Second Chance

Leo was standing on one of the Temple Balconies holding the strange coin the Dark Woman had given him, he looked at the jedi symbol on the back rubbing his thumb over it before he flipped over looking at the strange emblem. A circle with a spiked ring around it, the spike had four corners with two smaller ones on each side of the large spike making a total of a dozen spikes in all. The metal was unlike anything he'd ever felt when he held it in his and it was lighter than a feather but when he bit into it to try and bend the metal it wouldn't even leave a scratch. Flipping it high and over the balcony he caught it, jedi side up.

"Padawan Rock?" Leo looked over his shoulder to see the tholothian jedi master Adi Galli approaching him. She wore similar beige robes like Obi-Wan with clone vambraces on her forearms, her lightsaber tucked at her side and hands behind her back.

Leo stood up right to greet her "Master Galli, how can I be of service?"

"I just came to see if you were doing alright, I'm glad the Council made the right choice in keeping you part of the Order?" She said standing beside him.

"Likewise… I mean, yes Master."

Galli smirked with a bit of a giggle under her breath "How like Obi-Wan you are, have you spoken to him since the trial?"

"We did, I went to see Mast- Pong Krell before Tarkin comes to take him away, Master Kenobi came with me but… we didn't talk much." Leo told her, Adi's smile went serious.

"Confronting what we fear is part of being a jedi." She said,

Leo faced her "I don't fear him, not anymore knowing what he was, or what he is." Leo said, squeezing the balcony edge.

"Do you hate him Leo, for what he did to you?" Adi asked.

Leo didn't answer her outright "I don't know… I want to, but what would it do for us now?" He asked.

Adi smiled at him "A wise answer is knowing you don't know everything." Said as Obi-Wan walked out onto the balcony, "Ah Master Galli glad to see you're keeping my Padawan company?"

"Only until your arrival Master Kenobi, I'll leave the rest to you." She said before taking a step away to bow at Leo who did the same, before she walked back into the Temple.

When the two jedi, master and student were alone Leo faced his Master, before he turned away leaning on the balcony again "… It's over."

"For now, there will be times when you face trials I can't help you with." Obi-Wan said, looking out over Coruscant.

"So that's what this was, a trial?" Leo asked his tone shifting.

Obi-Wan was silent, he walked over to him "A master can only teach his students for so long, just like Master before me one day you will have to stand on your own, and show not just the Council but yourself that you're a true jedi." Obi-Wan touched Leo on the shoulder and he pulled away.

Spinning around "That's just it, your Master was there when he needed you most, on Naboo he died fighting that Sith when-…." Leo looked at Obi-Wan seeing the hurt in his face, Leo had gone to far, he'd crossed a line "… Master I… I'm sorry that was unworthy of me I'm sorry I just…"

"No, no, it's alright Leo I understand or at least I'm trying to understand your frustration." Obi-Wan sighed, relaxing his shoulders also leaning on the temple balcony guards.

Leo was still tense "I know you couldn't have helped me, you were on the Council you had to be unbiased."

"I wasn't though." Obi-Wan said over to him folding his arms on his chest "Leo I am so proud of the jedi you're becoming, you dedicate yourself to whatever task is in front of you no matter how small, your swordsmanship rivals Anakins at your age maybe more and you look the galaxy as a whole not just the small parts and now you've shown the Council there's no reason not to trust you." Obi-Wan stood and put both hands on his padawan's shoulders "I couldn't be prouder of you."

Leo smiled back putting his hand on his Masters "Master I don't know what to-" Obi-Wan stopped him "Don't, there's nothing else to stay come, I'm sure there's something the Masters will need us to do that no other jedi but you, Anakin, Myself or Ahsoka can handle?"

Following him Leo said "It is strange the Council throws some of the most wild assignments our way, no?"

"Take it as a compliment, they trust us."

"Speaking of trust, I trust Master Drallig will return what's left of my lightsaber?" Leo asked.

Obi-Wan nodded "Speak to him about it, are you sure you wouldn't prefer the crystal and build a new one?"

"You're the one always telling me my lightsaber is my life Master?" Leo asked.

"Hmm indeed." Obi-Wan said as they walked into the war room, there an assembly of Masters were already gathered along with Yoda, Plo Koon, Mace Windu, Kit Fitso, Luminara and her padawan Barriss, Adi Galli and Eeth Koth in hologram form. Aayla was there too standing beside Master Vos and least Leo expected to see there was Jinx standing right beside him.

The two locked eyes and Jinx smirked pointing to Vos, Leo mouthed the words 'Did you get a Master?'

Jinx pointed his thumb under his hand at Vos mouthing 'Oh yeah, the coolest one.'

The two boys smiled before they heard the thundering of leather boots as both Anakin and Ahsoka raced in, Anakin first sliding down the stairs side steps "I win."

Ahsoka, a bit out of breath, panted out "Longer legs… no fair."

Plo Koon, Vos, and Kit snickered while Obi-Wan just smirked at the two racing in, Leo smiling the most of all seeing the two who never gave up on him. Ahsoka and Leo's eyes met each sharing a soft smile before Windu cleared his throat "If you're done going around Skywalker."

"Not goofing, just some cardio training." Anakin said, patting Ahsoka on the shoulder "Then we can begin." Mace said.

"Admiral Tarkin will be arriving shortly to remove the disgraced Pong Krell from our Temple, Master Drallig has already begun the preparations but a more serious matter has occurred." Mace said, pressing the holotable buttons.

Ahsoka scoffed, "More serious than a Jedi Master betraying us, this should be good."

"The peaceful colonists of Kiros in the expansion region have vanished." Mace said getting straight to the point each of the jedi sharing different looks of concern and worry about the situation "The Republic has tried to ally themselves with Kiros in the past, but they have remained neutral until now?"

Frowning and folding her arms "So they joined the Separatists?" Ahsoka asked accusingly.

"Unlikely, Kiros holds no strategic value and the colonists are pacifist, it's why they left their homeworld to settle on Kiros." Mace said plainly.

"Just what kind of people are these?" Ahsoka asked cocking a brow and putting a hand on her hip "Yours padawan Tano, the colonists of Kiros, are torgurtan." Mace said pressing a button to change the hologram to images of Togrutan people in their traditional clothing all of them in varying shades of pink, purple, blue or red. Ahsoka's eyes got wide seeing they weren't just any people they were her own.

"Spoke to the planet's leader, I tried to warn the Governor of Count Dooku and his Separatists failed, I did." Yoda said, speaking up.

The Masters turned to their High Master who spoke with such humility "You could never have known Master Yoda, Skywalker, how long till my fleet can be dispatched to investigate?" Plo asked.

"Yesterday Masters, Captain Rex and the 501st are eager to get back in the fight." Anakin said.

"As will I, my forces are still securing Umbara until peace troops can arrive." Obi-Wan said before he looked at Leo who was already standing there ready to burst about asking "And with the Council's permission, take my padawan with me?"

Mace and Yoda looked at Leo, "Masters, say what do you?" Yoda asked the others.

"If Rock's master believes he is for service, then so do I." Galli said across from them.

"I do not." Mace said quickly, not surprising anyone "He's without a lightsaber, and we must determine if he is fit to even be a padawan?" Kit Fitso said.

This got everyone more curious "But Masters, Leo was acquitted at the trial. What do you mean to even be a padawan?" Anakin asked.

"In light of the trial, Rock may not be able to serve in combat anymore." Luminara said, making Leo turn white as his hair, "Perhaps the Service Corp or the Temple Guard should Master Windu's assessment find he's not… up to the task." Luminara added, Leo looked at Obi-Wan who was just as shocked as he was.

Clearing his throat Obi-Wan asked "Masters, I believe Leo is more than up to the task."

"I'm afraid that we must insist on this Obi-Wan, it's for your padawans sake as much as the Orders." Leo looked at Obi-Wan seeing if he'd press the issue.

Walking halfway across the holotable Obi-Wan starred Mace down "The Council or yours Master Windu?"

Obi-Wan looked to Master Yoda to settle the dispute, "Go Rock will, Kenobi, Skywalker to Kiros you will go, the trail of the colonists find we must, save them we must." Yoda said, tapping his cane to settle the matter and get them back on track. Leo looked at Yoda with a mountain of gratitude in his eyes. Team Skywalker left the room and the other Masters started to leave too.

"Master Windu, wait you will." Yoda asked him.

The battle master stopped "Against Rock you are, why?"

Mace turned around "You know what he is, who he is."

"A boy is he, padawan to another Master, had your chance to apprentice him after Pong's forfeiture, refused did you not?" Yoda countered.

"I only care for the sake of an Order as a whole, no different from when Skywalker steps out of line." Mace said back to the Grand Master.

Yoda leaned on his cane "A man Skywalker is, tested, grown within this Temple, alone was Rock for many years, tortured by Krell for our mistake." Yoda said.

"Our mistake, we vowed not to speak of such matters again?" Mace asked him.

"Agreed we are then, speak no further of your anger toward Rock, trust in Master Kenobi we will." Yoda said in favor of Leo, Mace frowned upon hearing it "I will, do my best Master Yoda."

Later, Leo walked into the Jedi Temple Security Tower, one of the four that surrounded the main tower at the center. The interior looked more like a police precinct then a chamber of jedi monks, there were various computers on the wall monitoring the Temple system. Desks lining the floor and Cin Drallig standing in a sort of command center looking around monitors at the various temple corridors.

"Level eight, be advised there are some younglings defacing the bust of Master Hoth again." Cin said before Leo cleared his throat.

"Ah, young Rock I know what you're here for." Cin said, turning around to meet him.

Leo smiled, "Glad to see you still have it."

"What remains." He said waving over to a jedi temple guard holding a box.

He carried it over and handed the box to Cin, who then gave it to Leo. Taking the box opening it, Leo looked in horror to see the lightsaber that had been sliced in half at the hinge was now just parts of scrap took apart the wiring ripped out, the emitter was broken, the hilt unrecognized from the crystal chamber thankfully the crystal had remained intact "What have you done?" Leo asked, looking at Cin and the Temple Guard.

"The hilt was unsalvageable, build a new one." The Temple Guard said over him, he was tall, taller than the others even in their indistinguishable robes. Leo recognized the voice; it was the same voice as the one who had brought him from Umbara but it was further then that.

"I know you, we trained together in the courtyard?" Leo said.

"You are skilled with the double bladed weapon, but such a weapon is unbecoming of a jedi in this age?" Leo looked down at the hinge saber at the Temple Guards belt and the others around him.

Cin eyed the Guard irritated "That's enough Guardsman." The guard walked off back into another part of the security tower.

Leo reached in looking at the pieces of his lightsaber, he took out the pieces, not happy with how damaged it was. "Our smiths did their best, but the hinge mechanism is shattered and the cuppling mechanism in the center has welded off, he's right you'd be better served scrapping the whole hilt." Leo squeezed the perishing thought.

"Respectfully Master, this lightsaber hasn't given up on me so I can't give up on him either."

Cin gave an affirming look "I expected as much please seek out Master Huyang he's our foremost lightsaber architect, you'll find him aboard his ship the Crucible in the hangar."

"I'm meeting new Masters all the time." Said closing the box before he bowed to Cin and walked out of the tower security tower. When he was in the elevator alone with his lightsaber he looked at the box pressing his to his forehead squeezing the box how could they do this to HIS lightsaber. It had been his closest thing to a friend since he was a child, more than that it was part of him, his very soul, will and blood was in this lightsaber; it was like they wanted to break a part of him too.

After a brief walk to the hangar Leo looked around for the Crucible, there were a few clones in the hangar and jedi checking on their ships when Leo wasn't sure he saw a green skinned Abyssin working on munition report in front of some misses "Excuse me?" The Abyssinian turned around and his face lit up, the one slit eye filling with joy "Ah-a Master Jedi please, forgive me." He fumbled with his manifest before he caught it.

"Master hehe, no I'm just a padawan." Leo said, pulling out his braid.

The abyssinian looked at it and at Leo's scar, "By the force, you're Leo Rock?"

"I am and you are…, but how do you know who I am?" Leo asked.

"Oh Jackar Bowmani, munitions expert and everyone who was talking about you earlier seems like I keep hearing your name, either saving a planet, fighting a dark jedi… uh rumors." He said holding out his three fingered hand, leo shook it "You blow stuff up, cool." Leo said, eyeing the explosives behind him.

Jackcar turned a few different shades of dark red in what Leo wanted to assume was a blush "Th-thank you Padawan Rock, is there something I can do for you?"

"Yes, I'm looking for Master Huyangs ship, the Crucible?" Leo asked.

The munitions expert looked around the hangar then at his manifest "Crucible, crucible… I'm sorry but I don't have that on my munitions list, it's a warship?"

"I'm not sure?" Leo said.

Jackcar walked over to a terminal and Leo followed, setting it down "Hmm, here it is Paladin-class corvette, Crucible hmm few weapons no heavy armaments says here its a training cruiser?" Jackcar said.

Leo looked at the screen with great intrigue. "You can see every ship here?"

Jackcar nodded "Yes, it's my honor to assist the jedi in this temple."

"An honor?" Leo asked him.

"You're a Jedi, a guardian of the Republic and its people, what higher honor could there be then to work with the Jedi." Jackcar said grinning, even though he had fangs for teeth it was a warm smile Leo needed.

Jackcar looked over the ship's location and pointed toward the far side of the hangar "Should be over there, I saw an old droid entering in and out of it, must be the ship's attendant or Master Huyangs servant?"

"Either way, you've been more than helpful, Jackcar right?" Leo asked, making sure he'd remember the name.

The abyssian nodded "Yes Padawan Rock, is t-there anything else?" He asked.

"No, I'll see you around some time?" Leo asked.

Jackcar smiled what passed for an abyssian ear to ear before Leo walked off toward the ship, the Crucible was a large corvette, an older model with a wider head, longer thinner engines then the corvettes he was used to. The ship had faded red paint running along it's bow looking almost brown from the years it had gone without a fresh coat. The bridge was shaped like a hammerhead shark's head with a small wedge at the tip he was about to board it's ramp when he saw Ahsoka working on her jedi Starfighter, behind a large stack of crates and fuel cells giving her some privacy to work from the rest of the hangar.

Turning away he headed toward her and knocked on the top of the ship "Master are we ready?" She flung herself out from under the ship looking for Anakin.

"Sorry, just me."

"-O-oh Leo, sorry I thought you were Anakin?" She said, wiping off her face with a rag and sitting up before she held her hand out, he helped her up before she looked at her ship she walked around it, scratching her chin."Anything seem off to you?" She asked him.

Putting his hands on the ship he looked over the starfighter, a Eta-2 Actis-class light interceptor, also known as the Jedi starfighter or Jedi interceptor, Designed to replace the Delta-7 Aethersprite-class light interceptor, the Eta-2 was a smaller vessel but possessed superior firepower, it's haul was clean, the window spotless engines in pristine condition. The guns clean of anything that would halt their function "Mmmmmh, no, is everything alright?"

Ahsoka put her hands on her hips "I need to be ready for this, these are my people we're talking about and I… and I just don't know Rusty, I'm so worked up"

Leo was quiet letting her talk "The only other torgurtan I've ever met is Master Shaak Ti, I've read about our people's culture, some of our traditions but other then that I don't really know anything about Shili or Torgutans for that matter it's like I'm looking for something and I don't know what it is."

"I get it, it's like a piece of you, you're only just now realizing you have and never thought about before, until now like my family on Raxus?" He sat down on the edge of the fighter and she joined him sighing.

"Yes and no, it's more than that Leo." Ahsoka sat down a foot away from his hands on her lap "I'm not human like you, Anakin or Master Kenobi."

"What does that have to do with anything you're a jedi, so are we?" Leo asked.

Ahsoka stared at him with a cocked brow "I don't think you can understand Rusty?"

"Then help me understand?" Leo asked her.

Turning to him, she stared at him intently "Humans are everywhere, you're on every world with a city, there are so many humans you even have different cultures, like the Mandalorians, the Naboo, Alderannians?"

Leo thought about it, nodding a bit "Starks." Leo said.

"That's your family and this is… this is the closest I'll get to mine?" Ahsoka said.

Ahsoka looked at him funny, he looked away running his fingers through his once red hair now white "I don't know if the Starks are some people, or if it's just family but whatever you need I'm here for you." He said, reaching for her hand squeezing it. She smiled at the floor feeling his touch.

"So… do you still feel the same way, about us?" She asked not to look at him.

"I do." He whispered before he scooted closer, he was very close. Ahsoka squeezed his hand back and looked up at him "Do you?" He asked in a whisper.

She nodded her eyes hazy looking at his lips, they were face to face. She looked at his scar holding her hand up and her thumb traced the line "We have to… we have to be careful, no one can know." She said,

"Our secret, I promise." He said back before she leaned in to kiss him.

"Snips, where are you?" Anakin said on the other side of crates and fuel cells, the two padawans jumped out of their skins hearing the last person who needed to know about them. Ahsoka literally pushed Leo off the interceptor and shot up, tossing him some tools to make it look like he was working. The wrench she threw hit him in the head as she said.

"Over here Master."

Anakin walked around the crate to see Leo holding his head and the wrench "Leo, you okay?"

"Oh he's fine, we just had some… engine trouble?" Ahsoka said.

Groaning and shaking his head "Ahsoka, how many times do I have to tell you to take care of your starfighter, it's like your lightsaber."

"Speaking of Leo, how's yours coming along?" He asked seeing the box, Leo tossed the wrench away and got up picking the box up and handing it to Leo "They killed him."

Anakin's brow furrowed before he opened it seeing the mangled lightsaber parts "What a mess, who did this?" He asked.

Leo shook his head "Master Drallig said their smiths did their best, some Temple Guard with a bad attitude I think, i was going to see a Master… Huyang?" Leo said, trying to remember the name.

Ears perking up at the name Anakin handed the box back to Leo, "Oh Huyang, hmmm he's uh- quite the character, you'll like him." Anakin said, Ahsoka sharing a smirk with him.

"Oh you two know him?" Leo asked.

"He's part of the gathering, Leo." Ahsoka said.

When Leo didn't say anything the two jedi remembered how Leo had been raised away from the temple, "It's a trial for younglings to become initiates, the final stage before becoming padawans when we get our lightsabers on Illum." Ahsoka said, patting her hips where her lightsabers sat.

"Oh I remember Illum." Leo said, squeezing the lightsaber box.

"We won't keep you anymore Leo, Ahsoka and I need to get to Kiros, Obi-Wan should be following us shortly, meet you on the Resolute Ahsoka?" Anakin asked her.

She nodded "Right behind you Master."

Anakin walked away from the interceptor none the wiser, Leo and Ahsoka watched him head over to his yellow interceptor where Artoo was already getting the ship ready. Anakin got in and took off and when he was safely away from the hanger Ahsoka walked over to her ship "I'll send you a message after I get to Kiros." She said getting in her cockpit.

"Can't wait." Leo said.

She smiled at him before she started up the ship, giving him one last look "Uh… one more thing."

Leo looked at her confused walking up he leaned over the ships wing to lean over her, "Don't worry, you'll save your pe-" She grabbed his green collar and kissed him once more before she let go.l

"That's for my own luck." She said winking.

Leo backed up tasting what she'd left on his lips before he watched her fly off, holding the case of his lightsaber he walked over to the ancient corvette walking up the ramp. The interior was white walls of the old Republic the floors lined with the emblems of the jedi order, the deeper he went in it felt like he was in a ship and a temple at the same time. "… Hello, Master Huyang?" Leo called out.

"Yes, yes I'm in the workshop." An old muffled voice called out.

Following it into the ship, he came into a large room with shelves upon shelves laid into the wall looking around he heard a loud rustling sound coming from behind a hallway corner and pieces of metal and wiring flying out from around it "Master Huyang?" Leo asked again.

There was a loud clang of metal on metal and a groan, footsteps came next and Leo looked to see a Mark VI Architect droid dressed in an apron around their waste, a backpack appendage and glowing yellow eyes "Droid, where's Master Huyang?" Leo asked.

The droid's yellow eyes blinked, it looked behind "Droid, are you speaking to me padawan?"

Leo looked at the droid up and down "Master…. Huyang?" Leo asked.

Rolling it's mechanical eyes the droid groaned "Every year, and you are?" The droid said, confirming its identity.

"I am… your a…" Leo shook himself out of the confused daze "My name is Leo Rock, I was told you were a lightsaber architect?" Leo asked.

The droid nodded "Thats I am, the foremost expert on lightsaber craftsmanship, design and production Leo Roc was it?" The droid asked walking up to him scratching an invisible beard on it's metal chin "Leo Rock, Leo Rock I have no memory of your name in my databases of younglings who went on the Crucible?"

"I never went on the Crucible, I was trained outside the temple, can you help me?" Leo asked the droid.

"A jedi who can't repair their own lightsaber is a poor excuse for a jedi?" Huyang said.

Leo frowned hearing that, he held the box up "Tell that to the Jedi Sentinels who gutted it?" Leo asked

Huyang had an monocle appendage appear over it's eye looking at the lightsaber "Oh dear, oh dear." Huyang said picking up the main emitter before it crumbled in its hands.

Dropping it, Huyang laid out the pieces of the lightsaber and began to examine each piece with the droid's mechanical limbs. An oculus over his scanning eyes followed by some low humming other limbs stretched out of the droids back to start reaching out new hilt and emitter pieces. "It has been many years since I have seen this design, a besalisk initiate named Pong, do you know him?"

Fidgeting Leo lied "No…"

"As it wouldn't be right for i to rebuild what remains, I shall instruct you to examine the archives of past double bladed swordsman." Huyang took out a small box and dropped the new parts and old pieces into the box. Picking them up the droid handed the box back to Leo. "Though I strongly caution you against choosing such a design, the first Jedi to use such a weapon cell to his own lust for power and became a curse upon the galaxy."

Hesitantly Leo took the box "Thank you Master Huyang, I'll— I'll consider it." He said looking at his destroyed saber.

Later Leo was in the library looking at a monitor with many tabs open of old masters. Leo was amazed of so few Jedi carrying the saberstaff in the order. The handful being all from the ages of the old or high republic, there were only two other Jedi in the whole order who carried them Pong Krell and a Lasat Master named Jaro Tapal, and Leo.

Scrolling the short list he pressed on the first name nearly a hundred years old in the age of the High Republic, Keeve Trennis. He read she was human master, with a green lightsaber who was inducted into the order at a late age and became a hero of the High Republic. Her lightsaber was somewhat bulky with reverse blade guards on each in. No not Leo's style the guard got in the way and would melt when he got to close to other lightsabers?

Next, he skimmed through the high republic Jedi their lightsabers more artsy and elegant. He went further back to the old Republic during the last great Sith War and following Cold War, more names to be sure big a note stating:

Due to the political climate of this time many Jedi opted to change lightsabers and many records were lost or sealed for republic security.

—- Jedi Master & Librarian Gnost-Dural

Of all the sealed files Leo picked the one that wasn't and lost prominent one, Grand Master Satele Shan. A picture of her came up and Leo felt himself dumbstruck at the woman he saw. She was perhaps one of the most beautiful Jedi- humans he'd ever seen. Eyes green like his but sharpness and compassionate at the same time, her hair raven black with light reflecting off it and her two braids. Her biography was immense he'd have to make a copy to read on his way to Kiros. Finally he found the schematics for her sword, a true saberstaff the length of two lightsabers with strong emitters on each end the long hilt was decorated with etchings of Jedi art. It was as beautiful as it's owner and gave him plenty of ideas. Leo scratched his chin making note of how a longer hilt must have been favorable during a time of war.

He noticed another note by Master Dural.

Like the matriarch of her family, Satele's ancestor Bastila was in favor of this model. Both becoming masters at incredibly young ages the Shans shared many similar traits then just lightsabers.

He followed the note link to this 'Bastila', and found another woman. Her hair was brown and she was lighter skinned then her descendant. There were no schematics of her lightsaber in record only picture of her standing or training with it. Leo found one picture clearer then the others of Bastila standing together with a motley crew. The first one he noticed was a blue armored mandolorian, a woolkie in a red harness, another Jedi but their picture was scratched out as if the data was corrupted, beside him or her Leo wasn't exactly sure of the Jedi's gender, a republic officer with dark hair and trimmed beard, beside him was a young twi'lek girl and two more Jedi. An old man with a white beard and cathar woman. Last was an Astro droid of unrecognizable design with what looked like an orange protocol droid. After enough gawking Leo found her design, similar to Satele's albeit Bastila's appeared more function over fashion. The emitters were longer and slimmer at where they attached to the hilt. The main body of the blade was smooth almost skeletal like the protective outer layer was stripped for quicker movement.

Shaking his head Leo knew it wasn't the design for him, his hands were to big and his fighting style was fast but powerful a lightsaber like this would feel like he was holding a pen not a sword. He looked through some more designs till he came to the last name on the list Huyang had given him.

The first Jedi to use a double bladed lightsaber.

And fall to the dark side soon after.

"… Exar Kun." Leo whispered daring to click the file.

A red alert sign came up saying "Access denied to non masters."

Leo scratched his chin looking at the file, opening up a new search bar he typed in Kun's name and even added lightsaber. A series of restricted files came up until he found one reading "The l Qul-Droma epics." Leo said seeing a series of stories and poems dating back to over a thousand years to the founding of the republic.

They were listed as such;

Early years, Happy Years

Padawanship and my Master

Rise of Onderon

The Unification Wars of Empress Tera

Infiltrating the Krath

The Rule of Two and the Dark Side

Exar Kun

My greatest Shame

Exile and Twilight Years

Another read for sure, but Leo accessed the file for Exar Kun, and saw scanned parchment written in old republic basic translated to modern to the left.

In my youth there wasn't a Jedi alive who didn't know the name of the Sir Exar Kun, as a padawan I had heard stories of his exploits even to his creation and mastery of his blue double bladed lightsaber. A sith lightsaber wielded by a Jedi, it was unheard of for our order or for Kun's claims to bring immune to the dark side. My master, may he be at peace with the force, had warned me if idolizing such brashness and only now in old age do I know why….

There were paragraphs of Kun from Qel-Droma's perspective all of it with disdain for Kun and some admiration of the fallen jedi's skill, he finally found one focusing on Kun's lightsaber.

…. At first glance Kun's double bladed lightsaber was only slightly longer than an average sword created to produce a single beam of blue-white energy. However, upon his ascension to Dark Lord of the Sith, Kun redesigned his lightsaber based on instructions hidden within an antiquated Sith holocron. One he insisted I study, what a fool I was to listen to him, I still hear the holocron in my sleep. The finished product was a double-bladed weapon imbued with dark side energy, from which sapphire blades materialized up to 1.5 meters from either end of the hilt. The metallic hilt that finished in a single blade emitter shroud and fastened neatly to clips on his right hip. The intensity of the blue-white beam of plasma that it produced was adjustable; at its highest setting, the lightsaber was able to rend Mandalorian iron, a unique ore highly prized for its lightsaber-resistant qualities. Even when I defeated mandatore my lightsaber was near useless as a stick. Kun's minor modifications were made to include three additional emitter shrouds and a ring at the base to facilitate a belt clip. When I was his apprentice he would impart the advantages of his saber how he added the second emitter. Kun's lightsaber had underwent extensive alterations, when he be came the Dark Lord the most significant of them being the incorporation of a second emitter assembly that was identical to the one already installed. A single power cell activated both ends of the newly-created saberstaff—together or independent of one another—which was recharged by a hidden socket situated just below the ubiquitous black handgrip. Dual focusing cores complete with lens crystal assemblies were crossed by a pair of power conduits that wired into a single red activation stud at either end of the hilt. Three smaller, colored, and vertically-aligned buttons were on the black surface of the protruding emitter assemblies, which were protected by four symmetrically-placed, pronged emitter shrouds. Included were paneled controls that adjusted the blade length between 0.5 and 1.5 meters, as well as diagnostic systems. Opposite the octagonal dual-phase control was an identically-shaped mechanism that adjusted the intensity of the lightsaber's twin blades, which, at their lowest setting, served little more purpose than a glowrod, neither able to inflict damage nor resist opposing weapons in combat. At full power, the lightsaber resisted the blades of others and cleaved through virtually anything else with which it came into contact, including weapons empowered by the Force.

The mere mention of his lightsaber drive terrors into the hearts of Jedi, though I know there are those who would dare to wield such a weapon I caution you, beware the lure of the dark side these lightsabers have they are not fit the faint of heart.

Leo leaned back now knowing why the masters all suggested he change to a new lightsaber. Looking at the box of pieces he opened it and picked out his crystal he squeezed it tight into a fist starting to see the blade in his mind. The double bladed lightsaber was originally a sith weapon but Jedi had used it, so what was the issue. Was the blades design inherently evil or how it was used?

His train of thought was interrupted by his comlink beeping, "Leo where are you, we're about to leave for Kiros." Obi-Wan asked his padawan.

"Understood Master, I'm on my way."

RESOLUTE II

The open circle fleet was rushing at light speed toward Kiros from coruscant, their gun ship had taken them from the Temple to the fleet already waiting for them to set off. Walking through the hangar the Jedi and in particular Leo was greeted warmly by the clones of the 502st and 212th clones already aboard, they cheered others gave nods or waves some clones even came up to Leo to pat him on the back. "Good to see you Commander Rock… welcome back sir… glad you didn't get sacked." And so on.

"Alright alright men back to your stations we got a serious mission ahead of us on Kiros." Anakin said as the clones dispersed leaving just Cody and Rex to report in.

"Captain Rex, Commander Cody relay to the men we'll be doing this the old fashion way no tanks or bombers for Kiros, Rex prep the speeder bikes for scouting and combat, early reports indicate the separatists are already fortifying the colony." Anakin informed them.

He turned to his "Ahsoka and I will lead the speeder bikes into the colony, using hit and run tactics that should open the way for Obi-wan's forces to secure the city and mop up the rest of the droids." Anakin said as Artoo projected the map of the Kiros colony. Large buildings surrounded by a series of archways with a tower in the back.

"Those roads are narrow, going to be a tight fit." Ahsoka said to her master.

"Just like pod racing, and just as fun," Anakin added.

Leo pointed at the governors tower "The tower could be a crow nest, we'll need to keep an eye on it, not to mention booby traps this place as no natural defenses."

"The colonists are pacifists by nature, like the Lurmen." Obi-Wan explained.

"The sooner we get there the better, I'm going to go get our speeder ready Master, I thought of some adjustments we could make." Ahsoka said confidently.

Swelling with pride Anakin nodded at her "As gif you Leo, have you constructed a new lightsaber?"Obi-wan asked.

"Uh, not yet Master, but I'll have one ready by the time we get to Kiros." Leo assured him.

"We'll leave you to it then." Anakin said before they all walked out. Leo held the box of his lightsaber remains tightly and the new pieces before he started to look for a quiet place to work. He saw Ashoka by the speeder bikes working on adding a mounted turret on the side car she'd ride and shoot with. Then he spotted a familiar sight, Anakin'd Corellian G6 rigger class ship the Twilight parked at the back of the hangar. Leo walked up patting her on the wing before he walked up to the ramp waiting for it to open when it didn't he pressed the door control. Didn't budge, frowning he dug his fingers into the edge and forced the door open.

Grunting he guessed Anakin had more important things to worry about then the Twilight, looking into the ship he felt his mind drift back to Serenno. When Leo and Ahsoka had been kidnapped by the acolytes, forced to fight each other.

Yes this place would do, sitting down be opened the box looking at the jumble of lightsaber parts. Leo shut his eyes and took a deep breath finding his center and let the force in and out focusing on the box, he began to think of the pieces and how they'd fit together first thing the crystal. A lightsabers heart, then the chamber it would it in followed by powder matrix, the hilt wrapping around the wires. He could hear the metal scrapping and clicking into place. But he knew this wasn't just a lightsaber for a weapon it needed to be versatile, it had to represent him. Anakins was long, sleek, one for someone who would fight for what he believed in and loyal to the one he cared about. Obi-Wan was elegant and civil like the aged master he was, built to be trusted when there was no one but yourself to rely on. Ashoka's had a similar design to Anakins and her shoto was a smaller version, they were sturdy, adaptable and always at the ready.

Leo's had to be unique, it had to be his…

The final lock and click sounded and Leo reached out to grip a reborn lightsaber, he felt the crystal pulse inside and followed by the ignition. He opened his eyes and the lightsaber before him was white as his hair, and the double bladed lightsaber it belonged to had two cup emitters, with a full hilt joined at the center with a black center. Leo looked at the lightsaber and held it firmly knowing he was now and forever a Jedi.

CORUSCANT

Republic Maximum Security Prison

Pong Krell sat on his knees, locked away in the deepest cell of the Republic Military prison, taken away from the Jedi Temple after his excommunication, the Besalisk had chains around his neck nailed to the ground where he would await his trial and soon execution. A guard of clones stood over his cell in a protected box with five inch thick protective glass watching him. Pong took one deep breath before he opened his eyes two orbs of pure sith yellow with red around the iris, snarling he started to use the force and the collar around his neck linked to the box began to shock him.

The clone trooper raised the volume but Pong focused on the pain. The clone, a member of the Coruscant guard hit his comlink "Commander Thorn, we have a problem."

"What is a trooper?" Thorn asked as Pongs yells grew louder.

"The prisoner, General Krell, he's trying to use the force, I've raised the shock collar but he's not stopping." The trooper said.

Commander Thorn replied "Highest level, now."

"It's already at the highest level-"

Before he could finish the entire lights of the level went out, the clone trooper looked over into the cell as the lights came back on in a flicker and Pong was gone. The trooper ran to the door and tried to open it but nothing was working. Then he heard it, laughter, Pong's laughter. The clone trooper heard the metal of the floor start to rip apart and then the floor caved in from under him Pong's laughter swallowing the air as the clone trooper fell down to certain doom. Alarms began to erupt across the base as Pong jumped up and with no arms used the force to tear open the door "Your new apprentice is on his way, Count Dooku hehehehe."
