Like a Brother

(pre canon, early seasons)

It was late, files scattered on the floor and long forgotten, while the bottle of scotch quickly headed towards empty.

After refilling their glasses once more, Harvey finally surrendered his jacket, slumping back against the couch in his vest as his fingers nimbly worked to roll up the sleeves of his white shirt.

Donna let her eyes drag all over his body, a few more drinks than usual making her feel bold. He soon noticed her staring, arching an eyebrow at her.

"Like what you see hey?" He smirked, clearly enjoying having caught her out.

"You're pretty easy on the eyes Specter," she admitted with a shrug of her shoulders. Her lingering gaze had been far too obvious for her to try and pretend she hadn't been.

His grin grew even wider, "I always knew you were into me."

Donna found Harvey stupidly adorable when he got cocky like this and she couldn't stop her responding smile as she huffed a laugh at him. But the lines between them were there for a reason and they had already been treading too closely tonight. She needed to keep them both in check.

"Oh please," she sighed. "How many times do I have to say it, I love you like a brother Harvey." She rolled her eyes at him as an added measure.

He pouted at her, the corner of his lip turned up, unimpressed with her response. He often got a little pouty when she pulled their flirty banter to a halt. She never knew if it was simply because she ended their fun or because he didn't actually want her to think of him that way.

Harvey stood up, retrieving his discarded jacket, preparing to leave for the night. He paused as he walked past her chair and then bent down close to her, goosebumps shooting out over her skin as his lips brushed against her ear.

"Siblings don't usually lick whipped cream off each other's bodies Donna. They don't know what you sound like when you moan," he whispered into her ear, his voice dangerously low and rough, causing heat to instantly flood through her body. For a moment she forgot how to breathe.

And then he was gone, cool air replacing his warm breath on her neck as she heard his office door open, then fall shut.

Fuck. She was such a liar.

She sure as hell didn't think of him like a brother.
