Grace tossed and turned as she tried to fall back asleep. She then sat up and buried her face in her hands.

When she lifted her eyes, she spied her husband in their loveseat. She tilted her head when she realized that he read by the light of his phone.

A small smile lit up her features as she turned on the lamp. Liam shielded his eyes before he turned his attention to her: "Oh, uh, sorry. Did I wake you?"

"No. I couldn't sleep either," she told him before she slid out of bed. She walked over to him and sat on the arm of the loveseat.

She tilted her head once more and questioned, "Any reason why you decided to look through our yearbook?"

He shrugged as he answered, "No reason," as he resumed flipping through the pages.

Grace peered at him. She then let out a breath and acknowledged that he'd talk when ready. She then looked down at the colorful pages.

She couldn't help but giggle as she recalled, "Spirit week was always so much fun."

She then nudged his shoulder and teased, "But you were a little less than enthusiastic."

With a roll of his eyes, he pointed out, "I just didn't like dressing up for, well, anything."

"Oh, I remember," Grace began as she grinned and pecked his cheek, "The very first thing you did at your sister's reception was pull off the tie."

"It was bloody uncomfortable," Liam defended. She only let out a chuckle.

She then rested her arm on his shoulder and surmised, "I'm surprised you even wore a suit to our wedding."

He couldn't help but smile as he told her, "You were worth it." He then leaned up and kissed her forehead.

She smiled back at him before she laid her head on his shoulder - only to move around on the arm rest. And move again.

Liam bit his lip to keep from laughing. He then suggested, "Here - just sit in my lap," tugging on her arm.

She slid onto his leg as he wrapped an arm around her waist. He then moved the yearbook back between them.

When he flipped the page, Grace grinned and pointed to one of the pictures.

"Look at you, Mr. Most Athletic."

The tips of Liam's ears turned pink. With a shrug, he told her, "I just loved playing baseball - that's really all I cared about."

She hummed before she offered, "You were really great at it, too, you know."

"For a leftie?" he posed, a grin spreading across his features. Grace shook her head.

She then burst out laughing - earning a raised eyebrow from her husband.

With a wave of her hand, she clarified, "I just can't believe how long it took me to realize that's why you stood in a different position."

Liam let out a laugh of his own. He then teased, "Well, you were pretty distracted."

She nudged his arm and pointed out, "You were not much better - I forget how many times Coach had to call you back."

"I was a hormonal teenager with you as my girlfriend - I think that in itself explains it."

"I guess it does," Grace agreed as she rested her chin in her hand. Before Liam could even form a reply, she began laughing once more.

Liam couldn't help but chuckle as he surmised, "I'm glad you're feeling a bit better."

With a smile, she told him, "It's all thanks to you - you always know how to make me laugh."

He returned her smile before he kissed her cheek. He then questioned, "You gonna tell me what was funny?"

"Mm-hmm," she hummed. She then elaborated, "Just that we could be a little full of ourselves."

At her husband's head tilt, Grace continued, "Everyone already knew how we felt about each other - especially since you have no idea how to be subtle - yet we were so determined to play it cool."

Liam couldn't help the laugh that escaped. He then shrugged and told her, "I just didn't see why it had to be a big deal."

He squeezed her waist and said, "I mean, I know I was in love with you - well, maybe I didn't know - but we didn't need to put on a show."

Grace hummed as she rested her head on his shoulder. She smiled as he continued flipping through the yearbook.

"We had a lot of fun, didn't we?"

Liam kissed her head before he spoke, "We really did - some of the best times of my life."

His voice sounded far-off and distant. Grace peered at him, tilting her head in thought. She then let out a deep breath.

"You're worried about how much our lives are about to change."

He let a deep breath of his own as he ran his fingers through his hair. He then confessed, "I love how we've grown up together - and it got us here. But being parents? I don't know if we're ready for that - if I'm ready for it."

Grace sighed and buried her face in his neck. She then muttered, "I was afraid you'd say that."

Liam pinched the bridge of his nose as he told her, "I know you're freaked out enough, but you deserved to know that I am, too. I do still want him or her - b-but…"

"But it doesn't mean you're any less scared or uncertain."

He only nodded as he ran his fingers up and down her side. She wrapped her arms around him.

A silence settled over the two of them, each lost in their thoughts.

With a tilt of his head, Liam then asked her, "Wanna head to the diner?"

Grace furrowed her eyebrows. "Now? It's pretty late, you know."

"It's not that late," he began, gesturing with his hand, "And I think we could use a change of scenery."

He then chuckled and added, "And Mrs. Pam's antics are sure to help, too."

With a giggle, Grace told him, "I can't argue with that." She then smiled and said, "And you're right - we could use a change for a little while."

He kissed her cheek before he placed the yearbook back on the shelf. She then changed into a pair of sweatpants.

Liam teased, "Don't want everyone to see those Marvel pajamas?" She rolled her eyes.

He chuckled as he grabbed his wallet and keys. He then questioned, "Are we walking or riding over?"

Grace thought for a few moments before she answered, "I think I could go for a walk."

With a nod, he picked up his phone - and hers - and they headed out the door and toward the diner.

When they arrived, they walked hand-in-hand through the door. From the kitchen, Cody called out, "Ma! Grace and Liam are here!"

He then addressed the couple themselves: "It's a little late for you's to be dropping by. Everything's okay, ain't it?"

With a nod, Liam told him, "Yeah. We were just out for a walk and wanted to stop by."

Grace squeezed his hand and shot him a grateful look. He squeezed back.

Frank then ambled through the back door. He then shouted, "Grace! Liam! Good to see ya!"

Before they could reply, Mrs. Pam's voice rang through the diner: "Cody! Why ain't you fixed them something to eat?"

"They ain't said they eatin'." he tried to defend as he gestured toward them.

"Of course they are!" she insisted as she planted her hands on her hips. She then turned toward them - the pair desperately trying to keep from laughing.

"So, what'll it be? Your usual?"

Liam ran his free hand over his jaw as he told her, "I could go for some chili cheese fries."

He then let go of his wife's hand and wrapped it around her waist. He then whispered, "Think you can keep anything down?"

With a nod, she then told Mrs. Pam, "How about some of your chicken noodle soup?"

The older woman peered at Grace before she offered a nod. She then turned and shouted the order at her son.

His fiancée - Rikki - then came from the office doubling as a spare room. She called out, "Mrs. Pam, you was right about who done it," tossing her brown hair over her shoulder.

" 'Course I was - I been watching that show for 30 years."

With a wave of a hand, Mrs. Pam then told the young couple: "Go on to your booth - I'll grab a couple sodas."

"Actually," Grace began, eliciting a confused expression, "I think I just want water - I'm, uh, cutting down on sugar."

The older woman peered at her once more. Nonetheless, she nodded and walked over to the soda fountain.

When the couple slid in across from each other in the booth, Rikki walked over to them. She leaned over the back of the booth and asked, "How's my favorite newlyweds?"

Liam - and Grace - smiled at her. He then answered, "We're really great - we just love spending every day together."

Grace reached over and squeezed his hand. She then grinned and added, "Even if we do annoy each other."

Rikki giggled before she said, "You guys are so cute." The couple couldn't help but smile.

Grace then spoke, "And how are you and Cody's wedding plans going?"

With a bright smile, Rikki answered, "I just love picking everything out for our special day."

She then ran her fingers through her hair and surmised, "Even if it's stressin' me out."

"What's got ya stressed?" Mrs. Pam interjected as she dropped off the drinks.

"Just the weddin'." she answered with a shrug. The older woman nodded.

She then called out, "Cody! How much longer on the food?"

"A few more minutes!" "Need any help?" "I got it, Ma!"

Liam and Grace - and Rikki - let out a chuckle. Mrs. Pam then turned back to the couple: "You kids let me know if you's need anything."

They nodded before she headed to the counter. Rikki then asked them, "You guys are comin' to the big day, right?"

"Totally. We can't wait," Liam began. He sipped on his drink before he asked, "When is it again?"

Rikki tilted her head as she said, "Let me think a minute." She counted on her fingers before she exclaimed, "Three and a half months!"

"Until what?" Cody chimed in as he plated the food. Rikki cocked an eyebrow while Mrs. Pam shook her head.

Frank, who leaned on the counter, spoke, "I'd say you're in trouble there, son."

Cody furrowed his eyebrows - until it dawned on him. With widened eyes, he apologized, "Sorry, babe! I, uh, just forgot for a second."

"Mm-hmm," Rikki hummed. She planted her hands on her hips and told him, "You better make it up to me."

"I will," he offered with a smile. He then pushed the plates forward and called out, "Food's ready!"

Mrs. Pam hopped down from the stool when Rikki made her way over to the kitchen.

She waved her hands as she spoke, "I'll take care of it, Mrs. Pam. You's need a break."

"A break? What do ya call watching our stories?" she challenged with her hands planted on her hips.

Frank chimed in: "Your stories - I still don't know how you can watch that stuff."

Mrs. Pam rounded on him: "Frank, I been tellin' you this for 30 years, and I'm gonna say it again - I watch it because I like it, and ain't nothin' you say changin' my mind."

She wagged her finger and added, "And I don't complain about your shows."

He only shook his head while his wife grabbed the plates and headed to the booth.

She slid the food in front of the young couple. "Eat up, you two. Just yell if ya need anything."

Liam and Grace nodded before she shuffled off. The red-head then slurped a couple spoonful's of soup, swallowing slowly.

Liam reached over and squeezed her hand. "Hey, you okay? Sick or anything?"

"I'm okay," she assured him as she ran her thumb over his. He leaned over and kissed her forehead.

When he leaned back, he grabbed a couple chili cheese fries and popped them in his mouth - only for some chili to land on his shirt.

"Bloody - ugh," he complained as he grabbed some napkins. Grace let out a giggle.

"I'm glad you think this is funny," Liam quipped - but a grin soon spread across his face. She giggled once again.

Frank then called out, "Liam! Your name short for anything?"

He turned to face him before he answered, "It's not short for anything." He furrowed his eyebrows and added, "At least I don't think it is - I'm named after my uncle."

Grace rested her chin in her hand as she chimed in: "I'm pretty sure your dad would have told you if Liam was short for anything."

He hummed before Frank, who crossed his arms over his chest, then said, "Named after your uncle, huh? What's he like?"

"I, uh, didn't really know him," Liam began. He sipped on his drink before he continued, "He died before I was born. But I think he was a lot like my sister - uh, cousin, I mean."

Frank furrowed his eyebrows and opened his mouth in question when his wife slapped his arm.

"Why'd ya do that for?"

"Because you know that boy told you that his cousin was raised up by his parents, so he just thinks of her as his sister."

"I know that, Pam - I's just making sure."

"Yeah, yeah," she told him as she waved her hand in dismissal. Cody then interjected, "Ain't she a teacher?"

Liam couldn't help but smile as he answered, "Yeah, she is. Second grade - she's pretty great at it."

"I was never good in school - especially math," Cody said as he flipped his baseball cap around backwards.

Grace slowly swallowed a spoonful of soup before she let out a giggle. "Liam isn't either - I'm probably the only reason he made it through high school."

He rolled his eyes and shook his head - a hint of a smile then graced his features. "She's not entirely wrong - and that's why she's an accountant."

Grace couldn't help but smile as she conceded, "I do love what I do." She sipped on her water before she added, "So, if you guys ever need any help with the books, just let me know."

"Now, Gracie, you have enough to do with your job and settlin' into married life - ya don't need any extra stress," Mrs. Pam pointed out as she rested her fist on her hip.

The young couple exchanged uneasy glances before Liam reached over and briefly squeezed her hand. She offered a small smile in response.

Rikki then spoke, "Besides, ain't Louis a math whiz?"

With a nod, Frank confirmed, "That boy could do math in his sleep."

As the conversation lingered between the family, Liam and Grace only listened. She smiled as she rested her chin in her hand.

"I'm glad we came here - I-I needed it."

"I know you did," Liam began. He then took a breath and added, "And let's face it, I did, too."

Grace ran her fingers through her hair and sighed. "I just wish I…"

"Please don't blame yourself - it's not all your fault," Liam reassured her.

"I know, I know," she began, running her fingers through her hair. "But I should have known better - I'm not a kid anymore."

Liam sighed and raked his fingers through his hair. "I mean, we're not kids - but that doesn't mean, I don't know, that we can't make mistakes."

"We both know it's so much more than that," Grace pointed out. She then let out a deep breath and told him, "But you're right - dwelling on it isn't gonna help."

He hummed as he reached over and squeezed her hand, running his fingers across her knuckles. She entwined their fingers and held tight.

They didn't let go as they continued eating. Liam stuffed French fries in his mouth while Grace slowly sipped her soup.

After taking a few sips of his soda, he offered, "Besides, we were on our honeymoon, so that much of it couldn't be helped."

Grace nearly choked on her water. "That's - that's…Liam!"

"What? It's true."

He shrugged. She then told him, "I know - b-but I just wasn't expecting you to just say that. At least not here."

Liam shrugged once more as he said, "I think you know by now that I don't have much of a filter."

Grace couldn't help but giggle. "Oh, believe me, I know. It's a miracle you didn't get into more trouble in school."

He ate another French fry before he replied, "That's mainly because I didn't wanna get lectured by Mom and Dad."

With a tilt of his head, he added, "And I now realize I probably shouldn't say everything out loud."

"That clearly didn't apply a couple minutes ago."

"I tried to put things in perspective - and I wanted to get a laugh out of you. Both worked."

He then shot her a teasing grin, and she giggled once again. They then resumed eating in the midst of light conversation and comfortable silence.

Mrs. Pam then strolled over. She planted her hands on her hips and exclaimed, "Gracie! You've hardly touched the soup. Ya comin' down with something?"

She then pressed her hand to her forehead and cheeks. She then lifted her chin and looked over her eyes and nose.

With a tilt of her head, Mrs. Pam surmised, "You don't have a fever - and you look healthy enough."

She then waved her hand and spoke, "But looks ain't everything. You feelin' okay?"

"I'm not sick, Mrs. Pam. I'm just…not that hungry."

Mrs. Pam eyed the young woman, planting her hands on her hips. Grace's eyes then widened, and she stammered, "I'll-I'll, uh, be ri-right back."

She then rushed off to the restroom - as Liam looked on worriedly. Mrs. Pam narrowed her eyes until it dawned on her.

She slid in across from Liam. She then perceived, "I know what's going on with the two of you."

He scratched behind his ear as he defended, "There's nothing going on with us. We're both fine."

"I know you well enough to know what makes ya tick," she began as she gestured toward the hand he still held behind his ear.

He quickly moved his hand and further defended, "We're just, uh, tired - and uh, work. Work is a lot."

Mrs. Pam narrowed her eyes at him. She then took a deep breath and softened: "I know - and love - you and Gracie like you's my own. And that's why I know her not eatin' and gettin' sick - and you dotin' on her more than ya already do can only mean one thing."

She then tossed him a meaningful look. He dipped his head down and sighed, running his fingers through his hair.

When he brought those blue-green eyes back up to hers, he surmised, "I should have known you'd figure it out."

His eyes then widened. He pleaded, "You can't say anything about it. Please."

Mrs. Pam regarded him for a few moments. With a nod, she reassured him, "I won't say nothin'. I can see it's worrin' you."

He breathed a sigh of relief. His gaze then shifted over to the bathroom.

"I hope she'll be okay."

His far-off look earned a head tilt from Mrs. Pam. With a sigh, she then discerned, "You two weren't expecting it, were ya?"

"We've only been married for three months. What do you think?" he quipped, running his fingers back through his hair.

"I'm ignorin' the sarcasm because I know this ain't easy," Mrs. Pam began as she wagged her finger. With a deep breath, she told him, "I see just how much you and Gracie love each other - I saw it the first time the two of you's came in here years ago. And no matter what's decided, that ain't gonna change."

A smile bloomed across his features. "Thanks, Mrs. Pam. I needed to hear that." She offered a smile of her own in reply.

He then let out a deep breath, followed by a sigh. He pinched the bride of his nose and bemused, "But I still don't know what in the hell we're gonna do."

Mrs. Pam grasped his hand and sympathized, "I know it's hard on ya, but this isn't somethin' you can decide, hon."

"Y-you know?"

Grace's voice barely rose above a whisper - her eyes were wide and her hands shook.

Liam rose from the booth and ran his hands up and down her arms before he kissed her forehead. Frank, Cody, and Rikki shot curious looks their way, but Mrs. Pam waved them off.

The couple slid beside each other in the booth. Mrs. Pam then reassured the young woman: "Don't blame your boy, Gracie. I put it together."

Grace let out a deep breath and nodded. She folded her arms on the table and surmised, "I'm not surprised - you basically know everything."

With a chuckle and a hand-wave, the older woman spoke, "I don't know about that - I've just been livin' a long time."

Liam and Grace chuckled as well. She then sighed and said, "I still wish something or someone would make me feel less terrified."

"It will get easier - ya just gotta give it time," Mrs. Pam stated. She then asked, "When did you find out?"

Grace ran her fingers through her red hair as she answered, "Today." She couldn't help but glance downward.

"Today?" she repeated. She then let out a breath and said, "I can still see why it's worrin' you - but just have a little patience."

With a grin, Liam teased, "I think she has plenty of experience with that because she's married to me."

Mrs. Pam let out a laugh while Grace shook her head and nudged his shoulder.

The red-head then yawned and lay her head on her husband's arm. He planted a kiss in her hair.

Before Grace could even ask, Mrs. Pam rose from the booth and offered, "I'll get ya somethin' to take home the soup."

She then shuffled back toward the kitchen as Grace called out, "Thank you!" Mrs. Pam hummed in reply.

Grace then snuggled into Liam's side. She yawned once more and spoke, "Maybe I'll be able to sleep now."

"You and me both," he agreed as he rested his head on top of hers. Mrs. Pam then made her way back over.

Grace opened her mouth to protest when the older woman interrupted, "Don't even think about it - you got big news today, and ya need to rest."

As she snapped the lid, she told her, "And ya need to be eatin' so you finish this soup. Or at least try, Gracie."

Before the young woman could reply, she set her sights on Liam: "And you make sure she does, alright?"

"I will," he confirmed with a nod of his head. She offered a nod as well.

When she finished with the soup, she told them, "Now, you two don't have to rush off, but ya do need plenty of rest."

With yet another yawn, Grace said, "I think we may just have to head home. I'm more than ready to just lie down."

"Yeah, I might just fall asleep in the booth if we don't move," Liam added as he stretched his arms over his head.

Mrs. Pam lightly chuckled. She then folded her arms and told them, "Alright, I'll see the two of ya later."

She walked back toward the counter when she stopped and spun back around.

"And you two better be takin' care of yourselves."

She didn't wait for them to reply before she continued on to the counter and plopped down on a stool.

Liam and Grace smiled and shook their heads. They then stood, and she grabbed the soup.

Cody then called out, "You guys headin' home?"

"Don't be hollerin'." Mrs. Pam scolded as she wagged her finger at her son.

He furrowed his eyebrows as he pointed out, "Ma, we from Brooklyn - we always loud. And everybody in here knows it."

"This is different," she argued as she gestured, "It's late, and them kids are tired. That's why they leavin'."

Cody put his hands up in surrender. He then offered Liam and Grace a wave, followed by his parents and fiancée.

The couple smiled and waved back before they headed out of the diner. Grace looped her arm through Liam's and rested her head on his shoulder.

She couldn't help the giggle that soon came out.

With a tilt of his head, Liam asked, "What's funny?"

"Oh, you know, I was thinking that it's much easier to lay my head like this than when you were shorter than me."

He rolled his eyes. "It's been, like, a decade, and you're not gonna give up that joke, are you?"

"Nope," she answered with another giggle. She then told him, "You're not much better. You still call me adorable even though you know it annoys me."

She then looked up at him and scolded, "And "like" a decade? You don't even know how long we've been together?"

A grin then spread across her features. He shook his head.

He then pointed out, "I mean, we realized we liked each other when I was 14, and you were 15 - but we didn't actually date until two years later. But we've always teased each other."

"You more so than me - you inherited your dad's sense of humor."

"The sense of humor that you find funny."

"I didn't say I didn't, you weirdo."

"Weirdo? What are you? 14?"

The two of them burst out laughing. They continued to walk toward their house as Liam said, "See, that's why we're good together. We make each other laugh - and we get one another."

"Yeah, we do. It's one of the reasons I love you so much," Grace told him as she snuggled closer to his side.

He hummed and kissed her head. He then said, "And our love will get through whatever we decide."

With a tilt of her head, she surmised, "You only sound a little sure of that."

Liam sighed. "Mrs. Pam's the one who said it. I mean, she's right - but everything's still jumbled."

"I think it will be for a while," Grace began with a sigh of her own. She then continued, "We really are gonna have to be patient with ourselves."

Liam hummed once more. A silence then settled over the two of them.

When they arrived back at the house, Grace turned to her husband and took his hands in both of hers.

"Look, I don't think either of us are any less terrified - because we're still processing - but I know we'll be okay. More than okay because we love each other."

Liam offered her a sweet smile. He then leaned forward, and she met him for a kiss.

He curled his arms around her as she wrapped her arms around his neck. They melted into the kiss.

When they pulled away, they rested their foreheads together. He ran his fingers through her red hair.

He then kissed her forehead. Grace smiled as she nuzzled into his neck.

Liam ran his hand up and down her back. He asked her, "Ready to head to bed?"

He then yawned. Grace giggled before she said, "I guess that means you are."

With a shrug, he replied, "I'm tired." She let out another giggle.

She then conceded, "I'm pretty tired, too. Let's head in." He nodded and grabbed the keys from his pocket.

As he unlocked the door, she added, "And don't hog all the blankets - you still have a tendency to just take them."

With a roll of his eyes, he pointed out, "I don't always take them - and when I do, you snatch them back."

As he pushed open the door, he added, "And I mostly give them back anyway."

"Yeah - "mostly"." she punctuated with air quotes. He only shook his head.

Grace laughed before the pair headed inside. As Liam closed the door behind them, a thought entered his mind.

Their lives were about to change in ways they probably couldn't even imagine. Even as the fear began to settle in, his wife's words echoed in his mind.

They would be okay.
