Dreaming of You

Summary: Bella gets inside Draco's head…

"Ready for it, boy?" Draco nodded nervously. He had been practicing for so long…now he had to face the real thing.

Bellatrix smiled coldly at him from across the room. She raised her wand.

"Occlumens!"

Draco tried. He tried so hard he could feel his head pounding with the effort. But the memories still came.

Harry walking down the corridor.

Harry laughing with his friends.

Harry smiling at the Weasel girl.

Harry hugging the Weasel girl.

He's too good for that slut…

Green eyes flashing angrily as Harry yelled at him.

Harry dozing off in class.

Harry speeding towards him during a Quidditch game.

Could I kiss him and make it look like an accident?

Harry practicing flying on his own.

Would he listen if I tried to talk to him alone?

Harry blushing.

Harry trying to escape his fangirls.

Harry reaching for his wand.

Harry crinkling his brow in thought.

And under it all an intense longing for something unattainable.

Bellatrix broke the connection and stared speechless at her nephew. Draco was slumped half way down the wall, eyes wide in terror.

For a moment there was no sound except for heavy breathing. Then Bellatrix seemed to straighten up.

"I suggest you try harder next time. You're dismissed for today. I need to talk to your mother…" The icy threat chilled Draco to the core. Numb, he stumbled from the room.

His feet seemed to belong to someone else as they carried him out into his favourite garden and down to the huge oak tree that stood in a far corner. He reached out a hand and brushed the rough trunk with his fingertips. Unrelenting, his mind played the words over and over again…"I suggest you try harder next time…"

Draco closed his eyes and leant his forehead against the cool bark.

Sometimes it was so lonely being a Malfoy.
