"I love you." She said through her tears. She wasn't ready to loose him.

He smirked with fading courage. "No you don't, but thanks for saying it."

She gazed into his eyes for what seemed like an eternity. I'm not ready to loose you. She thought

His eyes seemed to be giving her permission to run. She gave his hand a final parting squeeze and then she ran. Pulling on all of her remaining strength, she made her way out past the crashing debris and up to the roof. She heard his voice in her head. Don't worry, slayer, I'll be right behind you. Just keep running."

She pushed herself even harder. She cleared the roof and landed with a thud on top of the bus. Good job, slayer. Hard part's over. Hang on for a bit longer. I'll see you soon.

She clung to the roof as the bus sped out of town. What's happening?

Don't worry, love, we'll find each other again.

Don't leave me.

Don't really have a choice. But wherever you end up, I promise I'll find you.

The bus screeched to a halt. Buffy slid to the ground and walked to the edge the crater that had been a town. She smiled. He would find her. After all, he had promised. There were screams behind her. Her slayers. She looked at the now pitch black sky. A ball of fire came hurtling towards the crater. Someone was calling her name. It was Giles. "Buffy! Run!"

"I'm coming!" She called as she turned to run.

"Buffy!" It was Xander calling her this time. She picked up speed, but it was no use. A force hit her from behind. She felt her feet leave the ground. This was it. Death was her gift, and now it was coming to claim her. Her body collided with the bus. Reality disappeared, and all that was left was blackness.

Her mind floated through the darkness. There was no danger and no one else to fight. She was safe and warm. It's finally over. She thought. I'm finally free.

"Buffy?" A voice called. "Buffy, love, can you hear me?"

What's going on? She thought. It was supposed to be over.

"Buffy?"

Pain shot through her head as she struggled against the darkness. She knew the voice. It was him. He had found her, just like he'd promised that he would. Or had he promised? What was going on? Where was she? Why was she in the dark? Why did her head hurt?

"Buffy, wake up pet." The voice called. "Come back to me."

Light and blurred shapes flooded her vision. The room suddenly came into focus. She was in a hospital. Her head was throbbing. Spike was sitting next to her. "Welcome back, love." He said with a worried smile.

"Spike? What happened?"

"You hit your head and passed out."

Buffy sat up groggily. "Oh, how long was I out?"

"About an hour, your head connected pretty damn hard with the bloody kitchen floor. When you didn't wake up, I called the ambulance."

"Does Dawn know? Is she alright?"

"Buffy, Nibblet is in London with your mum and Giles."

"Oh, right, I forgot. I had the absolute weirdest dream."

"You'll have to tell me about it."

"Someday, but right now, all I want to do is kiss you."

"As you wish, slayer, as you bloody wish." Spike said as he leaned down to kiss his wife. As long as he had air in his lungs, he would never love another woman like he loved Buffy. Through thick and thin, they would always be together. Always.
