Hands joined together; Rebekah, Elena and Marcel with the dance instructor who was a good two heads shorter than everyone else. Everyone's eyes were closed.

"The wedding is the most important dance moment in a person's life."

Caroline and Nick hurried in late through separate doors, charging to the group. Caroline got there first and joined hands with Marcel and Elena.

"A room full of friends and family, watching. Smiling."

Nick joined in and earned a flirtatious smile from Elena as he took her other hand and Rebekah's.

Like he needed any more women wanting to sleep with him right now.

"Betting on how long the marriage will last. All you'll have is each other, and whatever skills you'll acquire today."

The instructor's eyes opened and smiled at two more faces, but just clapped loud to signal the lesson would begin. This wasn't the first time people had shown up late to a wedding-related event.

"And pair up!"

Rebekah went to Marcel, Nick was yanked on by Caroline. Elena was left standing there waiting for the engaged ones to start dancing. She had more been coerced into coming by Marcel, as neither of them could dance and he needed an ally.

Marcel took Rebekah's hand only, and wondered what he needed to do next.

Nick and Caroline continued to stare daggers into one another. He waited for her to make the first move.

She took his hand, and pulled his other reluctant hand to her waist. They started to shuffle.

The instructor was busy pulling on Marcel's foot and making him step backwards then forwards.

"What's the matter Nick? Two left feet?" She challenged.

To that, he stuck a foot out and easily tripped her, catching her with one arm across the waist. She turned and looked back at him, then stood again, her hair flying as she huffed and glared. In her frustration, she stomped hard on his other foot. He winced and threw her back, keeping one hand, then pulled her back, their arms going tighter around the other.

She stared at his mouth throughout and they started a slow waltz. His eyes went on her mouth and flitted to her eyes again and again and they turned faster and faster.

He was trying to trip her up again, but she knew how to dance just as well as he did. Soon she was smiling at how good they were doing and he grinned back in spite of himself.

She gazed at him and he smiled back, wiggling his eyebrows at her. Then she leaned back, trusting him not to drop her. They continued spinning.

Marcel's hand with Rebekah's clasped in it jutted out, and they did a robotic first year of high school prom dance, the instructor pointing out things he needed to stop doing. Rebekah was just going along for the ride. She knew how to dance, just like her big sister did. Elena laughed at Marcel and both he and the instructor shot her looks.

Caroline stood upright and Nick let her go, then she pulled him back with her. They were laughing and genuinely having a good time now. She thought at the worst, Nick would've elected to dance with the instructor or Elena rather than her. But she enjoyed his hand on her bare skin and his hold on her waist and hand.

He spun her and they began a different dance, starting at the edge of the floor. They grape vined to the other end.

Caroline's delighted laughter nearly overtook the music, and Rebekah gave her a dirty look. Then Care put her arms around Nick, and the last note of the song came up. He took one arm, and she let him dip her to the side with the other.
