NIGEL'S GARDEN. SECTOR V's TREEHOUSE IS IN RUINS. THE CLOUDS FROM THE STORM ARE DISSIPATING. NUMBUHS 2-5 ARE SEARCHING FOR NIGEL.

Nigel rouses himself from the ground painfully. Numbuh 3 catches sight of him and shrieks.

NUMBUH 3
Aaah! I think I found him.

The rest of the team joins Kuki, only to reel back in dismay. Nigel's body is three or four times larger than normal.

NUMBUH 2
Poor Numbuh One.

NIGEL
(groaning)
Ugh. I – I'm an adult. The Delightful Children used an age-changing ray on me.

The others bow their heads.

NUMBUH 2
(fiddling with his fingers)
So, what do we do now?

NUMBUH 4
Yeah! We need a plan ter get even with these treehouse-wrecking delightful dorks from down the lane!

NIGEL
That's – that's your problem now.

A collective gasp.

NUMBUH 2
(shouting)
Say what?!

NIGEL
(mournfully)
I can't be a Kids Next Door operative anymore. I'm not a kid anymore.

NUMBUH 3
(pleading)
But Numbuh One, you can't quit! We need you to beat the Delightful Children!"

Nigel is starting to feel annoyed. Numbuh 3 is acting clueless. Is she doing it on purpose?
NIGEL Don't you get it, Numbuh Three? I'm an adult! I can't be your leader anymore!"

NUMBUH 5
(disgusted)
So that's it? You're just going to talk away? What - what will your mom and dad say when they see you this like this?

NIGEL
(lowering his eyes)
I don't know, Numbuh Five. I guess I'll find out very soon.

Nigel limps into his house, leaving the literal and figurative shambles that is his team to its own devices. He wanders into the living room and slumps into a couch. No matter how much he wracks his brain, he can find no alibi. If he tells his parents the truth about his accident, he will inevitably have to spill the beans about the Kids Next Door. True, when the Delightful Children made him bald, he came up with a credible excuse: a scientific experiment at school gone terribly wrong. But being transformed into an adult? That's something different. And how could he possibly hide the fact that he's suddenly aged twenty years. The only solution would be to sneak into the Delightful Children's mansion at night and steal the age cigar. But the mansion is heavily protected by booby traps. And if he runs into Father, he'll wish he'd never been born.
Oh yeah, this is a fine mess he's landed himself into.
