Hiding Spot

Inuyasha was hiding. It was not like he was afraid, of course. He was just... Not in the mood. The chance of him being in the mood was nonexistent, but it wasn't important.

He wasn't a coward, mind you. He wasn't hidden in the thick tree leaves to avoid a battle or prejudice.

He was avoiding kids.

Twins, to be precise. For some reason they wanted to torment him and it wasn't like he could hit them, they were barely over two years old. So if he couldn't fight flight was his only option.

Why, oh why, had they to inherit their parents' lack of fear of him? Wasn't he menacing enough? Wasn't he grumpy and rude enough?

"Hey, what are you doing?" Inuyasha glared at Shippou, who just leaped to the branch next to his.

"Nothing," he grumbled. The fox smirked at him.

"You know, they like you because you have cute ears and protect them, and answer all their questions," he sad. Inuyasha cursed the cunning kitsune who came to pester him.

"Keh, why do you think I'm hiding from them?"

"Inuyasha, my dear friend." Shippou did his best Miroku impression. "You always hide here when they tire you too much."

"Feh! As if two human kids could tire me!" Inuyasha scowled at him. Shippou giggled.

"There's no need to hide it from me, Inuyasha, I know you well," Shippou grinned. "By the way, they went to play in the field near the river Wait, where are you going?"

Inuyasha looked back at him from the branch he had jumped to.

"The riverside, duh."

"Ah, wanna play with the little ones after all?" Shippou perked up.

"No way, I'm just going to make sure they don't get into the river."

"But if I tell them you're around..." Shippou started with a wicked smirk.

"I'm going to tie you up and let them do to you what they want to," Inuyasha threatened before leaping away. Shippou looked after him for a while before he reclined on the vacated branch and sighed.

It was a nice hiding spot.

A/N: Goodness, how much I wish I could go and just hide from kids.
