A/N: raphlover2012 asked for a Kikyou and Suikotsu short, based on the picture Farewell My Beloved by SonicFanGirl321 you can find on deviantART.
I'm sorry it's not good and so late, it was really hard to write it.
Kiss of Death
In the man in front of her pure and impure wasn't mixing, like it would in any other human's heart. He was different - one time he was the gentle one, the other he was the vile one. One protected children and the other wanted to see them dead.
She was surprised by the strength of the feelings she had developed over such a short time. But now his shard was tainted black and he was no longer the one she had grown so affectionate towards.
He was so much like her, living while he shouldn't, standing on the sacred mountain where no evil should be.
Pure became impure and dead was living.
She watched him collapse after her arrow hit him, preventing him from spilling the blood of the innocent girl he had been holding. The girl who ran immediately towards the daiyoukai. She walked past them on her way towards the man on the ground. The second chance she had been given to feel love after her affection to Inuyasha faded to mere friendliness.
"Lady Kikyou," he breathed out as she knelt beside him. She felt bittersweet tears threatening to fall from her eyes when she heard his gentle voice saying her name. It was sure that her arrow had purified the darkness from his shard and now he was once more.
She could apologize and say her goodbye.
More than she had had a chance to do when she had shot the other man she had once loved.
She listened to his soft words as he spoke about his past, about his condition. No matter what the history of her love was going to repeat itself, since she knew that she had to kill this man she loved too.
He knew it too, accepted it and seemed to look forward to being free again,
He didn't despise her, no, he asked her to do it herself, to remove the shard. His pure heart was shining in the jewel embedded in his flesh. The man was as pure as she, but at the same time they both were abominations not meant for this world. They had been victims of the dangerous world they had lived in - she pushed to guard the jewel and give up her happiness, he uncertain and unsure in the time of war, misguided and among vile people. They had so much in common.
But she couldn't follow him in the afterlife, not yet. She had a mission to fulfill.
But they would share the same fate, eventually.
She reached for the shard, but at the same moment the snake blade passed her fingers and the shard was cut out of Suikotsu's neck. While the others looked towards Jakotsu, Kikyou leaned over the fallen doctor with concern.
When she saw the light in his eyes fading she caved in to her desire and pressed a chaste kiss to his lips that no longer drew in any breath.
As his soul rose from his body Kikyou felt sorrow snag at her heart, because she was alone again. But when she looked in his face she couldn't help but smile gently, seeing that his lips were curled in happy smile.
She prayed that at the end of her road he would be waiting and that the heavens would let them meet again.
'Suikotsu, may you rest in peace,' she prayed over his bones. 'And wait for me, I will do my best not to make you wait for long.'
When she walked away from the bones she felt her heart weighting down on her more than it had been in the past few days, days that had been lit by the pure light of the sacred jewel.
