The Line 2
Inuyasha and Kagome were walking towards the well, Shippou floating above them.
"So, how long will you be visiting your family?" Shippou asked.
"I think a couple of days," Kagome said and glanced towards Inuyasha, who shrugged and didn't object. His ears were tilted towards the village.
At the same time Rin was exiting Kaede's hut - or rather trying to. She moved the reed mat aside and almost walked into a skinned and gutted rabbit. The meat was held by an anxious Kohaku, who smiled at her shyly.
"Is... Is it for me?" asked the startled girl.
"Um, I caught it myself," Kohaku nodded, dropping the rabbit in Rin's hands. It was still warm, so Rin went inside to put it in a big pot for later to cook. She returned to the boy standing in front of the hut. "Thank you, this was very thoughtful of you."
"Do you like it?" he asked, fiddling with one of the many pouches hanging from his obi.
Rin smiled widely. "Yes, We were low on meat and now we can make a stew for dinner."
Some distance away Miroku and Sesshomaru were sitting under a tree, watching the two talking.
"You won't go hurt Inuyasha?" Miroku asked when they saw the girl step backwards to avoid getting her face into the rabbit. "It was clearly his advice."
"This one's little brother knows the right way to court a female. A male needs to show that he can provide for her and their young," the daiyoukai said evenly. This was the closest he was to compliment Inuyasha. And he was glad that the boy was not trying to do or suggest something improper to his ward. He would never admit it out loud, but Rin was like his own pup and he was maybe a bit too protective over her.
Then the boy leaned in and rubbed his nose against Rin's cheek, nuzzling her and then letting it wander down the side of her neck to her collarbone. Rin giggled, but did nothing to stop him from wrapping his arms around her, she held onto him herself. She sighed and tilted her head to allow the boy more access to the sensitive skin of her neck.
Miroku snickered when he felt a flare of youki beside him and saw his companion hastily depart.
Not that far away in the forest Inuyasha's ears twitched and he picked his miko up.
"A month,," he said to the kitsune. "We're going to be visiting for a month. Or longer."
When a couple of seconds later Lord Sesshomaru landed on the meadow housing the magic well, he found there only the surprised Shippou looking at the light inside of the well disappear.
