A/N: First of all - I'm terribly sorry I'm not as active as I'd like to be. Most of my energy goes to keep up with Demon Toddler.
Second: This collection of craziest crack on the block was nominated for The Feudal Connection 2nd Quarter 2019 for Best Serial. I dunno who did this, but thank you! Anyone who wants to nominate stories or vote later - please check out the Feudal Connection's tumblr for more info.

As a thank you I decided to post the first two chapters of the firstest of stories I wrote in this fandom. I never finished it, since I got stuck on like 6th chapter and got distracted with other projects, but maybe one day I will finish and post it whole - if you want me to, that is. So let your thoughts in the comments and thank you all for being the best kind of amazing fandom possible.

The Trio Finds Out

1. A suspicious noise

The day was sunny and peaceful, lazy even. The sun was slowly crawling up the sky and pouring down heat, making people do anything to remain in shadow or in cooler buildings. It was a perfect day to spend with your family or leave the city. When the afternoon came the heat became less unbearable, cooler breeze bringing some small clouds to cover the sun and bringing some relief to the city. Three girls were walking up long stairs leading from a street up a small hill. They were wearing light dresses in pale colors and holding ice-cream cones. The air was still and hot.

"I'm sure Kagome's home, I met her mom this morning and she told me that she's back," said one of the girls softly, reaching to her new headband to adjust a flower adorning it.

"I really couldn't believe when her grandfather told me that she left and they don't know when she'll be back," the second girl nodded and looked up to see how many steps they had to get to the top. "It was just like when she was ill for the whole year when we were fifteen," she sighed. shaking her head and causing her wavy hair to brush against her cheeks.

"Yeah. And she didn't even come to the graduation party," the first one sighed.

The third girl, walking ahead of her friends, suddenly turned around and laid her finger across her lips. Her eyes were narrowed as she looked at her two companions.

"Shh! Do you hear that?" she hissed, a tint of excitement in her voice. Both girls fell silent, listening carefully. And then they heard it - a faint, unrecognizable noise coming from the top of the hill, from the yard just behind the gate.

"A hum?" suggested one of the girls, leaning forward in an attempt to hear better. They looked at each other and resumed climbing up the stairs, but this time in silence, trying to hear the noise again.

And it came - a bit longer and louder. The girls froze for a moment, marveling about the source of the noise. It definitely was a growl, full of lazy pleasure. And it was definitely masculine. It was followed by a quiet chuckle - this sound was definitely feminine and somewhat familiar. Both were barely audible from the distance and wouldn't be registered by the girls, but in the stillness of the hot afternoon there were much less distracting noises from the city.

The girls practically crawled up the last few steps, as quiet as they could in their sandals, and peeked from behind the opened gate into the yard.

The area was almost empty, no one was visiting the shrine at this moment. Only two people were sitting in the shadow of the Sacred Tree.

Kagome was sitting comfortably with her back against the short fence encircling the Sacred Tree. Against the fence were also rested a katana and two brooms. Kagome didn't notice her friends standing in the gate, focused on the thing in her lap.

Before Kagome, laying comfortably with his head in her lap, was a young man, dressed in red, traditional-looking outfit matching Kagome's miko robe and with beads around his neck. He had his eyes closed, as if he was focused on something, corners of his mouth were turned upwards in a wide, lazy smile. Kagome had her hands buried in his untamed mane of silvery white hair. The man made a sound somewhere between a pleased growl and a loud purr. The young woman, looking down at him, smiled lovingly and bowed her head, as if wanting to kiss him.

2. Good Rub

The Sacred Tree was shielding them from the burning sun, but the heat could still affect them, so they decided to take a little break and relax. There was no need to hurry and their sweeping wouldn't run away. Kagome sat down and rested her back against a short fence wrapped around the tree. The hanyou smirked when he saw that she picked up a place near the spot where he had left Tessaiga. He dropped his broom next to hers.

Inuyasha was standing before her for a moment, a mischievous smirk forming on his lips. She was so pretty in her blue dress and with her black hair tied in a high ponytail. As always her mere presence made him happy and relaxed, so much at peace. Just spending time with her was great, even if they were doing chores around her family house while visiting. He could do much, much more than sweep the yard just to stay close to her. And he'd definitely not let her close to the well alone. He wouldn't tell it anyone, but he was still afraid it could close again, with Kagome stuck in the future. He was pretty sure he'd go mad this time. Wherever Kagome went Inuyasha would follow.

"What's on your mind, Inuyasha?" she asked as he knelt down before her and glanced around to make sure they were alone. She could see sparks in his golden eyes as he looked into hers and then in one fluid motion rested himself on the grass, laying his head in her lap. "Hey!"

"What?" he looked up and then moved to find a better position. Kagome chuckled and shook her head. After three years they were back together and in a way it was just as it had been before. But those three years had changed them and they were taking their time to get to know each other again, to adjust to everything. It was nice and exciting to spend time together. She most definitely liked that they didn't have to battle all sorts of youkai and travel by foot, chasing Naraku's minions and looking for shards of the Jewel. They could talk or sit in silence, or do things boyfriends and girlfriends did He knew they had a lot to learn and was at the same time looking forward to it and being afraid that he could do something stupid. Well, as long as they were learning together Kagome was happy. Besides, Inuyasha's attempts at courting her were much too funny and cute.

"Nothing," she smiled down at him, he was observing her smile for a second, then closed his eyes. It was hard not to smile back at her. "Are you going to take a nap?"

"Maybe," he replied, keeping his eyes closed. He inhaled deeply, taking in her sweet scent, then relaxed a bit. This world wasn't as dangerous as his own, he could let his guard down a little and enjoy their peaceful time together. No monks tossing perverted comments their way, no twins tugging at his ears, no fox brats trying to prank him. And Kagome just for him, because her family was somewhere in the city. Could this afternoon be more perfect?

Two gentle hands sneaked into his hair and found their way to his ears, catching and rubbing them.

"Eeek!" Inuyasha opened his eyes widely at the sensation and saw Kagome giggling. She didn't stop rubbing his ears and he felt his body relax under her gentle touch. "Ka-Kagome..."

"I always wanted to do it," she confessed. 'And I always wanted you to do it,' he thought and sighed in pleasure. After the initial shock of being touched in this particular place he let himself just lay down and let Kagome caress his ears. He did his best to ignore the growing warmth of his cheeks and simply enjoy the blessing of her hands. He didn't remember feeling so good, so relaxed and happy as he was now. Definitely the second best day of his life – the first being the one when she had returned to him.

Slowly, as if not to scare her, he rested his hands on his stomach and hummed, a sound more similar to a growl, resonating somewhere deep in his chest. It was nice to have her lithe fingers rub his ears. He used to hate when people were paying too much attention to them – the sign of his mixed blood – but Kagome was different than majority. For her he wasn't a worthless half-breed.

"Do you like what I do? Do you want me to continue?" the amused tone of Kagome's voice didn't disturb him. But as she pulled her hands away his purr stopped immediately.

"Nice," he replied, his voice low and rather lazy. "More." Both ears twitched and Kagome giggled, returning to rub the soft fur. The pleased hum returned a moment later.

Inuyasha was simply happy - inhaling Kagome's scent, feeling her warm body so close to him, her gentle fingers rubbing his sensitive ears and simply basking in her presence - at the same time he wanted to stay like this for hours and felt an urge to do something. He wasn't sure what exactly, but he felt his energy and restless nature urging him to move. He fought this desire back - as long as those delicate fingers were working on his ears he intended not to move a muscle.

...An unfamiliar scent.

Inuyasha sprang to his feet, crouching before Kagome, shielding her with his own body from any attack that could come their way from the source of the scent. He did it instinctively, in one fluid motion, readying his claws and focusing his eyes on his soon-to-be opponents. Kagome could see them between his pricked ears as she looked over his head in the same direction. A low, threatening growl arose from his chest, much different from his previous hum.

As soon as Inuyasha's intense golden gaze rested on three girls standing in the gate, staring his way, motionless, he felt something grip his ears and pull him back and down. With a painful, dog-like yelp he pulled away from Kagome, who had ambushed him. His aching ears pressed flat against his skull as he glared at her.

"Oi, woman!..."

"Kagome... Is this Inuyasha?" came a shaky voice from direction of the gate.
