Glass and Gold

Echoes of a soft ringing, light melding into a blur, into the air, soft and sweet, just floated amidst two figures as they moved and turned…
Notes, rolling off of paper, thrust into the air by string, brass, and cloth, swirling and filling the air with a beat, a rhythm, a song, strong and powerful, penetrating and reaching out everywhere, to every ear. And yet, the notes barely broke the threshold of silence that surrounded the pair. Whispers of the notes could only suggest what movement they should make, trying to guide them to follow it. However, their step followed not the song playing, which had captured ears of the onlookers lost in the blur. They danced to their own. The notes did not guide their step, but rather, every movement, every touch, every breath, created the symphony that they could hear in their hearts. They drew closer, pressing their bodies' together, intimacy growing.
Dots of light and colors reflected off of the shimmering white silk and gleaming armor of gold and steel, adding radiance to the two as they turned around one another in their dance. The points of lights around them, candles, the flickering glow softening the air around them, the stars, burning sparks hanging in the sky above their heads, shining, twinkling in a million colors, and the moon, shining down, spotlighting the lovers for all to see. But they didn't care. She looked up to him, locking her eyes with his, entranced by the blue deepness within.
The air, laced with song and light, a single breath proved to be a feast for the senses of all those around them. They could only breath in one another, their love, their life, and it satisfied them, fulfilled them, their hopes and dreams. That is what this, this dance, this moment, felt like to them right now. It was so perfect, so deep and so meaningful. It had to be a dream. They blinked. So deep they were into this fantasy, they knew no way to escape it. Nor did they want to. But looking to each other once more, they knew they must wake up. They could not live their life out in a dream, a life that they had just started together.
Even though they were so deep into the dream, one thing still reached them from the true world, they realized, outside of their sphere. The ever so soft ringing. It called out to them, leading them to reality, showing them the way to leave their illusion.
"Time to wake up." He smiled. She raised her hand and placed it on his face. "Time to leave this dream."
"This may all be a dream, but I know…" She nuzzled him. "… that this is real."
A breath. And a kiss.
…
"YAY! WAHOO! WAY TO GO! CONGRATULATIONS!" After having tapped their forks and spoons on the fine glassware for so long, the light ringing was soon overshadowed now by the clapping and cheers of all those around the pair.
"I love you Cassie." He opened his eyes and looked to her beautiful face.
"I love you too Ord." She smiled and kissed him once more.
"One more round of applause for the newlyweds, Ord and Cassie!" The host announced and another roar of joy erupted from all their friends and family. "Don't they make such a lovely couple?"
Ord swung Cassie around and once more kissed her with great tenderness and an even greater passion. Husband and wife. There was nothing more they could want.
"Now that the couple has had their first dance, it's time to cut the cake!" The host spoke up.
"Ooh! Cake!" Ord and Cassie said simultaneously. They looked to each other and broke out in laughter. Maybe there was something more that they could want.
