Right and Wrong
Inuyasha ran between the court ladies and ministers, dashing between the various youkai. Whenever the boy passed, a blur of red and white, a flash of golden eye and perked furry ear, everyone exclaimed his mane, playfully calling after him not to run in the halls of the Western Palace. Laughter would erupt when the boy replied with a pant of assurance that he had it under control.
The boy zing-sagged between the courtiers gathered around the western daiyoukai and leaped lightly to land in front of Lord Sesshomaru. His hair, recently brushed out, was now a tangled mess, his kimono slightly in disarray. The white tabi on his feet were white no more - probably the boy had used a shortcut via a freshly upturned dirt of a flower bed. And yet, somehow, there was no dirt on the sigil of their royal house on the collar of the boy's kimono. Tessaiga at his hip, almost too long for him, was also properly worn.
"Welcome back, big brother!" the boy greeted the great lord, who descended from Ah-Un's back and let the dragon walk to their stables. The courtiers and guards bowed deeply, repeating Inuyasha's greeting. The daiyoukai wasted no time to look at them.
His slender fingers deftly brushed Inuyasha's hair behind his shoulders and straightened his kimono before the Lord of the West got to one knee in front of his little brother. His arms came up to wrap around the lean, youthful body of the boy in a gentle embrace, not a vicious squeeze. Inuyasha tucked his head under Sesshomaru's chin, returning the hug with innocent eagerness.
He was home. He was greeted by his pack. He was proud of the only brother he had, he was also amused by his antics when the boy nuzzled him affectionately. He was finally at home. At peace.
It felt right.
It felt wrong.
Sesshomaru woke up with a start and looked around the tiny camp located in a glen deep in the woods. Rin slept by a small fire, Jaken dozing off nearby. Ah-Un lifted a head to look his way.
"This one shall return at midday," the daiyoukai said and went to find his little brother, watching over a similarly small and humble camp site.
As he approached, the hanyou leaped out of a tree, blocking his way to where his pack slept in a shallow cave. Inuyasha put a hand on the hilt of his sword.
"What the hell do you want, bastard?" he barked.
Sesshomaru sighed.
Yes, this was right.
...And yet, somehow it was wrong.
