Author's Note: Just before I start the chapter I want to tell you all that Sadako and Sasuke are non identical twins. Enjoy the chapter.
Chapter 3
"*ahem* Sadako, what are you doing in my room?" Itachi asked his little sister, eyeing the books and scrolls lying on the floor.
"O-Onii chan? W-when did y-you come back?"
"A few minutes ago and why are all my books scattered like that?"
"Sorry Onii chan, I'll put them back" said Sadako, picking up the books from the ground
"Were you able to understand what was written in the book?" asked Itachi and Sadako nodded "But how? It's written in a mix of the three scripts and you just started learning the second one a few days back"
"I asked Okaa san to tell me the pronunciation of the ones I didn't knew" she said, taking a step back "I'm sorry Onii chan"
"Don't worry, you didn't do anything wrong. On the contrary, it's actually good that you like to read. I can teach you and Sasuke about various jutsus in my free time."
"Really?"
"Yes. If you want I can teach you both about the clone jutsu right now. I don't have anything better to do right now. But I will only teach you the theory of the clone jutsu. You are too young for the practical"
"OKAY! Arigato Onii chan"
"But then you will have to socialize with other people. You don't talk to anyone besides us"
'She's even more socially awkward than me' he thought
"Onii chan, I would but they don't particularly like me a lot. They still think I will hurt them."
"We will see to that later then. As for now, go call Sasuke otherwise he will get angry at us"
"Onii Chan, I heard you say my name!"
Little Sasuke came running inside the room and jumped on Itachi's back.
"What happened nii chan. You called me?" Itachi chuckled
"Yes Sasuke, I called you. I thought it would be nice if I teach you the clone jutsu you asked me to teach you the other day"
Sasuke's face lit up with excitement and he nodded furiously.
"Onii-chan, you're the best. I love you!"
"Hai, hai. But I don't have a lot of time, okay? I have to train with Shisui later"
"Okay onii chan" Both the twins said simultaneously.
"That is all there is to the clone justu. Were you both able to understand?"
Sadako nodded. They both turned to Sasuke. He was looking at Itachi, pouting.
"Onii chan that is seriously complicated. I didn't get half of what you said"
"That's quite understandable. You are only three years old Sasuke, it's natural that you won't get what I said. I―"
"Kamisama, Itachi let your kid brother and sister enjoy their childhood. They both aren't even in the academy right now." said Shisui "Yo Chibis!"
Sasuke greeted Shisui cheerfully whereas Sadako hid behind Itachi. Itachi tried his best not to laugh because Shisui was the last person someone would be afraid of. Shisui seemed to be thinking along the same lines.
"Oye chibi, come here" said Shisui
Sadako looked at Itachi, scared, and then walked towards Shisui. Shisui, pouting, bent down to her level and spoke in a childish voice
"What happened? Am I scary?"
Sadako didn't reply. She merely shook her head.
"No, I must be scary because every kid runs away when they see me. That's why you also hid behind your big brother, right?"
"N-no. That's not true Onii chan, y-you are n-not scary"
Itachi was surprised. Sadako didn't talk to people no matter what they said. She would merely nod or shake her head. Watching her talk to Shisui was like...he didn't even know what it was like. It just felt odd watching her talk to someone other than family.
Meanwhile Shisui beamed at Sadako's reply and gave her his biggest smile.
"Really?"
Sadako nodded
"Then you won't be scared of me, na? We'll be friends okay?"
"Hai, Onii chan"
"By the way Shisui, why are you here?" Itachi asked
"It's waaay past the time we were supposed to meet 'tachi. Almost an hour"
"Oh sorry. I lost track of time teaching them about the clone jutsu"
"Come on Itachi, let these chibis live their life while they can" He said, patting Sadako's head. "They won't be able to get what it is"
"No Onii chan explained it in simple words that we understood what it was about!" Sasuke said furiously. Shisui raised an eyebrow
"Really?"
"Well Sadako did get it even if I didn't"
"Eh? This chibi got it? Kamisama, we already have one Itachi, we don't need another"
Itachi changed the subject.
"Shisui, let's go train. Sorry Sasuke, Sadako we will continue this lesson later."
"Okay nii san"
"And when you understand the concept of chakra and master some basic jutsus, I might consider teaching you the teleportation justu" Shisui suggested. The twins jumped in excitement.
"HAI! Onii chan"
It had been four months since she met Shisui. Ever since that day Shisui spent most of his spare time with her, teaching her about different jutsus and stuff. She was an excellent student. No, not a genius like he thought she was when he first met her, she was just laborious. She wouldn't stop training until she mastered the technique or until somebody came to call her back home, re-read Itachi's textbooks until she got what it was trying to say.
Sadako was waiting for Shisui outside her house. He had promised that he would spend the whole day with her. They would first train and then he would treat her to ice cream.
Itachi and Sasuke returned home, earlier than she expected they would. Sasuke had complained a lot when he heard that Shisui had promised to spend time with Sadako so Itachi had promised him that he will spend his day with him.
She understood something was up when she saw Sasuke mumbling something and Itachi giving him an apologetic smile.
"Sadako" Itachi started "Shisui says that he is extremely sorry to break his promise but today the peace treaty between Konoha and Kumo will be signed so he won't be able to spend time with you as the hokage has summoned him"
Sadako shook her head and said
"It's okay onii chan. Please tell Shisui nii san that I don't mind at all."
"Okay dear. Sasuke I'm really sorry too. All the genins have to go to too. We will train together some other time." he said and flicked Sasuke's forehead.
"Ookay"
"Take care of your sister, okay?"
"Don't worry nii san, I will"
"I'm going then. Sadako, What about Okaa san and Otou san? Did they leave? "
"Yes, they left about 15 min ago"
"Alright. I better go. I'll try to come back as soon as possible."
"Bye nii san"
"Sa-chan, let's play ninja till everyone comes back" Sasuke suggested
"Okay"
"It's getting dark outside and no one has returned yet" said Sadako
"They are taking too long to come back."
They heard some noises downstairs.
"Looks like onii chan is back. Let's ask him to join us" said Sasuke, running out of the room towards the door
"NO, Sasuke wait! Don't go there" Sadako grabbed a kunai from Itachi's tool stash and ran after him.
"Is this the brat we were searching for?"
Sadako froze as she heard unfamiliar voices at the door. She saw Sasuke staring at them in complete shock.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's take this brat with us and be done with the job"
'Oh no. I have to stop them'
Sadako ran towards the nin who was trying to grab Sasuke and buried the kunai in his hand.
"Sasuke run! Go call someone" She ordered him, activating her sharingan "HURRY UP!" she shouted when Sasuke didn't move.
"Sa-Chan I will―"
"JUST GO SASUKE, HURRY!"
Sasuke nodded and ran out of the house.
'I need to hurry, I have to help her. I need to find onii chan'
Sadako sighed. Sasuke was out of danger, now she can figure a way out of this.
'Calm down Sadako, You just have to keep the two engaged until someone shows up'
"Do we kidnap this one instead?"
"Yeah. She already has the sharingan, the leader will be happy"
They both took out kunai's. Sadako adjusted her stance, glaring at both the kumo shinobi.
'I won't be able to hold them out for long, the sharingan is consuming a lot of chakra'
They threw their kunais at her and one of them teleported, appearing behind Sadako.
'Oh no' was all she could say before everything turned black.
Sasuke ran towards the entrance of the Uchiha compound when he saw Itachi and Shisui standing there, talking.
"ONII SAN!" he shouted
Itachi looked in the direction of the voice.
"Sasuke, what happened? Why are you―"
"Onii chan―Sadako―she―alone―there― shinobi" he grabbed Itachi's shirt and started pulling him.
"Sasuke wait, I can't make sense of what you're saying, and what about Sadako? Why did you leave her alone?"
"She's―shinobi―there―alone―fighting"
"Sasuke―"
"Sasuke did something happen to Sadako?" Shisui asked. Sasuke nodded "Is she at home?" He nodded again "Is there someone else there too, like some shinobi of other village?"
"You're wasting time onii chan, she's in danger"
"Yes, you're right. Let's go"
"She's not here" said Itachi as they searched the house. "Did those nins say something like they were searching for something, Sasuke?"
"No they didn't. They were here to kidnap me and Sadako told me to go call and you or someone who can help"
"I see, let's go and inform Otou san first. Don't worry we will find her, Shisui is tracking those people"
"Okay" Sasuke replied in a small voice
'I did not keep my promise to her'
"Otou san, bad news"
"Itachi, Good timing. Go home and stay there with Sasuke and Sadako. They are likely to be targeted too."
"What do you mean by they are likely to be targeted too?" asked Itachi
"Oh right, you don't know. Kumogakure nins tried to kidnap the hyuga heiress. What happened?" Fugaku asked, noticing his son's expression.
"Sadako was kidnapped too, by some Kumo nins"
"What?"
"Shisui has gone after them. I'm going there too. I leave Sasuke in your hands"
"I will go with you Onii chan" Sasuke volunteered
"Sasuke look I can't take you with me, okay? I need to go now"
"Onii chan, I am coming with you."
"Sasuke I―"
"I broke my promise. Going with you is the least I can do right now" he said in a small voice.
"Itachi, take him with you. I cannot abandon my duties right now, so take Sasuke with you in my place"
"Fine. Hop on Sasuke, I'll carry you otherwise you won't be able to catch up to us"
Sasuke jumped on Itachi's back and they left.
'I just hope they find her'
