Lizzie's POV
Harry and I were now sitting on the deck leaning against the mizzen mast on the quarter deck just enjoying the quiet and it was definitely quiet as neither of us really knew what to say to the other after what just happened, we'd been friends for years and neither of us really knew anything about what we're feeling since we weren't taught anything about these kind of feelings, we were only taught to hate.
It was times like these that I wished we could see the stars instead of the never ending dark cloud that casted shadows over the Isle since at least I could be looking at something instead of just avoiding Harry who was right beside me, we were on watch to make sure there wasn't any pre-emptive rescue attempts from the little traitors, I mean technically I could go to the captains quarters leaving him to watch the deck but I was also frozen in my seat constantly recalling what happened only 30 minutes ago.
Harry and I moved our lips against each other's, it becoming more feverish and rushed as time moved on before we had to part for much needed air, our foreheads pressed against each other's as we caught our breaths before my eyes blinked open seeing his ocean blue eyes a centimeter away from mine.
"What was that?" I asked, my voice breaking a little.
"A kiss" he replied smugly before both our eyes widened as we fully realized that we'd actually just kissed. "Was...was that yeh first?" he asked and I frowned before slowly nodding my head.
"Yours?" I found myself asking and he nodded. "Was...was it okay?" I asked again before I'd even thought properly and my eyes widened as soon as the words were out especially when he laughed.
"Was it okay for you?" he shot back and I could only nod my head again. "Then it was perfect" he smirked making me blush a little. "Do you uh...mind if we did it again?" he asked and I found myself laughing a little and quickly shaking my head before our lips were colliding once again but this kiss didn't last as long as the other and we pulled apart more forcefully this time before our eyes shied away. "We should get back to watch" I nodded my head and we quickly turned away from each other getting back to keeping our eyes out for anything suspicious.
I was so confused and conflicted especially because I know I had no one I could talk to about what I was feeling since there was no way I could talk to my mother seeing as our last encounter hadn't gone too well and I knew she wouldn't hesitate to beat these good feelings out of me and Uma wasn't really an option either because all I would get out of her was an 'I-told-you-so' and that's not what I needed right now.
"Hey guys" both our heads snapped up finding Gil and Bonnie standing there to take over our shift, Harry and I both stood up.
"Thanks Gil, don't fall asleep on the job" I told them then started to walk away with Harry catching up with me a few seconds after that.
"I think we should talk" he spoke up and I frowned.
"Not now Harry, I really want to get some sleep before tomorrow" I replied back biting back a frown as I tried to keep a steady pace in order to get away but I suddenly felt the cool metal hook wrap around my left wrist pulling me to a stop.
"Ilizabeth, we're talking about what happened?"
"Says who?" I snapped glaring at him and pulled my arm away from him.
"Says me" he shot back walking towards me making me slowly step backwards until my back hit something hard and I quickly looked around seeing I'd hit a brick wall and was now trapped between it and Harry.
"You forget that I'm your captain...now back off"
"No" I glared at him. "I don't regret it princess, I enjoyed kissing you" he smirked and I frowned trying hard not to blush.
"Harry we can't-"
"I know" he replied cutting me off. "Relationships aren't my thing princess, that doesn't mean we can't have a little fun" he added and my whole face fell bringing my hands up pushing him away from me.
"I'm not becoming a conquest Harry" I glared at him.
"I never-"
"Leave me alone Hook" I pushed past him walking off and this time he didn't follow, I didn't fancy going back to the ship after what just happened so I decided to head towards a spot that I'd found when I was just a kid and only I knew of it and how to get to it.
I run through pirates bay, past Hook's Inlet & Shack seeing the infamous Jolly Rodger on the dock out back, past Gaston's Duels without Rules heading towards an abandoned alleyway that was all boarded up but there was one plank that was loose, I checked my surroundings checking to see if anyone was looking before I pushed the plank aside and slipped through the gap letting the plank swing back into place before I headed to the back of the alley where there was a rusted old fire escape and climbed up the old ladder all the way to the top.
As soon as my boots landed on the roof I smiled at the view pleased to see that the shelter I'd made was still standing and looked to be untouched, it was a couple of old crates stacked and with an old blanket pegged it down, this had been my sanctuary away from my mother and her goons ever since I was little and had run away for the first time, I was only seven years old and I'd stumbled upon that alley when I was running from her card goons.
I sat down under the cover finding the few pillows that were barely holding together still there and looked out at the view, it overlooked the entire Isle of the Lost and I could see right across the ocean just catching the glimpse of Auradon in the distance and I remembered sitting here just wishing that I could go there, escape the island and my mother but then I became friends with Uma and for a short while Mal but then Mal left us and it'd only been Uma and me before we started hanging out with Harry and in a way Gil and I'd given up that dream for that of a pirates life.
But now I felt my world crashing around me once again, I knew Uma and Harry were close so if it came down to it I think I know who'd be kicked to the side if this ended badly and I had a feeling that it had already happened, I never should've let my feelings for Harry cloud my better judgement and putting myself in this position in the first place.
I didn't get any sleep since I couldn't stop my mind from mulling over everything that'd gone down, I just sat and watched the sun rise above Auradon in the distance settling high in the sky before I knew I had to face things so I stood and hastily climbed down the fire escape checking my surroundings through a gap in the fence before I moved the plank aside and slipped out heading towards the dock seeing the crew moving about the ship.
I walked onto the deck seeing the King had been moved from the brig and was now tied to the mizzen mast on the quarter deck, I checked the rusted old pocket watch that I kept chained to my pants seeing it was just nearing on 11:30 and my eyes widened a little since I hadn't realized it'd been that late so I quickly made my way over to Uma seeing her looking out over the side of the ship.
"Nice of you to join us" she spoke up when she saw me.
"I lost track of time" I replied stuffing the pocket watch back into my pocket seeing Harry's eyes on me from across the ship and frowned, the watch had been a birthday present from him last year but I quickly tore my eyes off him.
"So what happened between the two of you last night?" Uma suddenly asked, keeping her voice low.
"What?"
"You haven't noticed the dark soot around his eyes, you and I both know he only wears it that thick when he's upset and I can't imagine anything besides you would upset him that much" she replied and I sighed.
"Nothing happened, I'm sure he just wants to appear more threatening" I lied and I could tell she saw right through it but we both turned around hearing a thud and saw Harry had jumped down from where he'd been standing on the upper deck and was now toying with the king.
"Coochy-coochy-coo" Harry smirked rubbing Ben's chin with his hook and I rolled my eyes at his behavior. "How's it feel to be king now, eh?" he asked him but Ben didn't reply and just stared at him but that didn't deter Harry since he started laughing moving behind the mast appearing on Ben's other side and I shook my head at him moving over.
"Give it a rest Harry" I pushed him away from Ben. "Give it a rest" I shoved him more forcibly when he gave me an incredulous look.
"We don't want damaged goods" Uma added walking over and sat on an old chest just in front of Ben and I moved over taking a standing position beside her crossing my arms over my chest watching Harry in the corner of my eyes climb up the rigging and hang from it with one hand.
"You's said that I could hook him!" Harry exclaimed pointing his hook at the king.
"I said at noon" Uma spat back at him and Harry glared towards Ben especially when they met eyes, the king showing the tiniest bit of smugness with that news but that disappeared when Harry jumped down and approached him again pulling out his own pocket watch dangling from his hook next to the kings face.
"Twenty more minutes" I raised an eye knowing that was not that correct amount of time.
"That says 11:30" Ben corrected and I glared at him since he didn't need to correct Harry on that.
"You better hope your girlfriend comes through" I quickly said before Harry could do anything seeing the dark look cross his face.
"But she's not my girlfriend anymore" Ben replied turning his face to the side avoiding our eyes and I laughed a little taking pleasure of their trouble in paradise and heard Harry sniggering beside me.
"Leave us alone Harry" Uma and I spoke at the same time, I had other reasons for wanting some distance between us.
"Nineteen minutes to go now" Harry spoke walking beside the king again and I shook my head.
"Go!" I told him more forcibly and he turned narrowing his eyes at me but didn't dare disobey and walked off but didn't go too far unfortunately.
"I get that you's don't deserve this" Ben decided to speak up once he was gone, Uma and I shared a look before laughing.
"This" Uma spat repeating his word for our situation. "This island is a prison thanks to your father"
"And don't pretend to look out for us, because nobody looking out for us" I glared at him. "It's just us"
"So this isn't your Mom's idea?" Ben asked looking at Uma who responded with a scoff. "Isn't that her necklace?" he added eyeing the necklace around her neck which had to be how he knew who she was, me I hopped was still a mystery.
"My Mom doesn't care about me either, well not unless she needs someone for the night shift" Uma replied glaring off to the side.
"Ouch" Ben shot back.
"She doesn't need your pity" I spat at him angrily, none of us needed his pity. "None of us do"
"No you certainly don't, you're both very resourceful" he replied looking around at everything he could see on the ship. "I don't see either of you tied up" Uma chuckled standing up moving towards him.
"Alright so let's trash talk Mal, it's our favorite game" Uma smiled back at me and I smirked nodding my head.
"I'd rather talk about you two" I scoffed shaking my head.
"Funny and a gentleman" I shot back.
"We really hope we don't have to feed you to the fishes" Uma added and my smirk grew as I thought about the sharks below that would love a good meal.
"Oh you don't, set me free and we'll go back together" Ben replied and my eyes hardened since he thought he could bargain with us for his freedom.
"Oh so now we get an invite" Uma laughed.
"Gee wonder why, eh Uma?" I added smirking over at her before my eyes fell back to Ben. "When you brought Mal, Evie, Carlos and Jay to Auradon, that's as mad as we've ever been in our lives"
"And trust her we've both been plenty mad" Uma nodded her agreeance.
"I never thought of it like that before, that I could've hurt the people that I didn't pick" Ben replied and my smile dropped once again angry by the pity tone in his voice. "The plan was to start with four kids and bring more people over, I guess I was busy being king-" I scoffed at the lame excuse. "That sounds lame" he said clearly hearing it before he met our eyes again. "I'm so sorry" we just stared at him. "Your leaders, Uma-" he turned to me not knowing my name and I smirked deciding to give him my name at last.
"You can call me Lizzie" he nodded.
"Your both leaders, so am I...come to Auradon and be a part of the solution"
"Us...a part of your solution?" Uma asked him before we shared a look, both smirking knowing our answer.
"Nah" we both spoke turning towards him.
"We don't need you, we're gonna get there on our own" I quickly added.
"Harry" Uma called to our first mate before she lifted her shell necklace. "Let's see what this puppy can do" she smiled to herself, she'd only been able to use it very shortly once so I understood she wanted to know her full power.
We both walked away and started preparing for the battle that was ahead since if we knew Mal and the others they were gonna have something up their sleeves and we had to be ready for whatever that was going to be, I stopped near the side of the ship and pulled my sword out of its sheath balancing it in my hands with a little reverence since although I knew I could handle myself against anyone of the traitors I hadn't used one in months.
"Still know how to use it princess?" I frowned turning around finding him behind me of course.
"Of course I do" I replied but even I could hear the hesitation in my voice.
"Dont'cha worry Ilizabeth, I've yet to see yeh fail at anything and I know yeh strong enough to handle the traitors" I found myself smiling a little.
"Thanks Harry" he nodded at me with a small smile himself.
"After this we're gonna talk princess" he suddenly said and just like that my smile fell.
"There's nothing to talk about Harry" I argued turning away from him looking back at my sword bouncing it in my hand and he suddenly surprised me by coming up behind me placing his hand over mine on the hilt of my sword and started moving my arm in slashing movements practicing and I felt my whole body respond to his pressed up against my back.
"I doubt that princess, I know yeh feel something for me"
"That doesn't matter, I already told you I won't be-"
"I'm not asking yeh to be a conquest Ilizabeth" he cut me off, his motions stopping stilling our hands as I met his eyes over my shoulder seeing his sincere eyes staring back at me.
"Hey guys, there here!" we heard Gil call out from the crow's nest and both our heads turned to the dock where we saw the traitors approaching from the tunnel.
"We'll continue this talk later" he spoke and I nodded quickly sucking in a short breath.
"Get the king" I told him and he nodded quickly going over to untie Ben and walk him over to the plank while I headed over to the bridge that connected our ship to the dock standing beside Uma as we watched Mal take her place on the other side, our future was about to start.
A/N: Leaving it in a cliffhanger lol...hate me all you like but I really want to see some reviews before the next chapter to see if this story is something people are actually reading and liking, so please let me know what you guys think as any and all feedback is appreciated as I feel it will help me improve my writing skills and become a better writer.
