Lizzie's POV
It felt like I was falling forever and I felt my throat protesting to my screaming for the entire time looking around at all the books, clocks and random stuff surrounding the walls as I tried to grab hold of anything to stop myself from falling but nothing I grabbed held long enough to slow the fall and when my eyes finally spotted the bottom I closed my eyes knowing this was going to hurt grunting at the pain as soon as I felt myself hit and roll as it was tilted like a slide.
"Ow" I complained before sitting up looking around in a mixture of fear and wonder since it looked like I'd fallen right into one of my nightmares which this pretty much was since I noticed the chandelier was standing upright like a lamp and I was sitting on the ceiling...exactly like my nightmare rooms. "No!" I screamed when things suddenly turned upright and I was falling to the ground, landing with an oof. "This cannot be happening"
I looked around seeing nothing but darkness but suddenly as if my mind was read torches suddenly lit up lighting up the room and I was staring at a dozen different colored doors in all different shapes, styles and sizes and I felt myself starting to hyperventilate with the knowledge that I was trapped and practically thrust into my nightmare.
"I've died...I've died and I'm in hell" I sighed already knowing how this went from my nightmares and started trying to open each of the doors but they were all locked and that's when I noticed the blood red door in the shape of a heart and rolled my eyes since I should have guessed. "I'm not doing this" I crossed my arms over my chest and sat at the table which was in the center of the room since there was no way in hell I was going through that door.
I really wish I'd been smart enough to have a phone so that I could call for help but being that we were on the sea 98% of the time none of us pirates had cared to think about that stuff, I knew Harry was looking for me since I'd heard his voice so maybe he'd seen me fall down that rabbit hole and was already gathering some kind of rescue I just had to sit and wait.
I had leant back in my seat while I waited but it was starting to feel like I'd been here for hours and no one had come for me yet, Wonderland was a part of Auradon so maybe if I got out of this room than I can find some help there and get the hell out of the place as quickly as I can.
I started looking around the room for some type of key before I turned back to the table and saw a red key with a heart shape sitting on the glass table which I definitely hadn't seen there before, I sighed walking over and grabbed the key ignoring all the other doors already knowing which one lead to where I was being drawn to and went over to the red doors and put the key into the lock before twisting it and heard the telltale click of the lock being unlocked before I hesitantly reached for the handle and twisted it pushing the door open letting a blinding light in which I had to shield my eyes for a second as I stepped out the door and into what I assumed had once been a lush and beautiful maze but they were all dried up and dead plants now and reminded me too much of my mother's mansion back on the Isle but I knew this definitely was not the Isle of the Lost.
I started walking through around trying to find my way through this maze since it was one I had never mapped out before but mazes were in my blood and it wasn't long before I saw a building growing in the distance the closer I got to it so I made that my marker following the mazes and even going through the dead branches when I could to speed up the process finally exiting the maze to find a huge castle and I mean a huge castle, bigger than my mother's mansion and I immediately knew who the castle belonged to judging my the natural stone and red accents with heart shaped architecture...it was my mothers.
I immediately headed towards it since my curiosity outgrew my fear of the place and I quickly found myself walking through the halls staring at the decrepit interior, it looked like no one had stepped foot in this place in years which was understandable since who would when my mother was banished to the Isle of the Lost and the whole place was dark, dusty and full of cobwebs.
I walked around what seemed like the entire castle before settling on the room that I knew sat right in the middle and the moment I entered my eyes fell on the large stage at the end of the room and on that stage sat a throne, the back of it shaped in a heart and the upholstery was nearly completely worn out but I could tell it had once been a bright vibrant red and I approached it cautiously before stopping dead in front of it since this had been the center of my mothers tyranny, the place she caused so much pain and earned herself the tittle of a villain.
It was so surreal to be standing here in the place that had been hers, before me before the Isle of the Lost which I only assumed pushed her over the madness scale 1000 times more than she ever had reining over this place and I could only assume what it've been like to grow up here instead of the Isle but that also left a lot of things open considering I wouldn't have grown up beside Uma and I wouldn't have her as my best friend and I wouldn't have met Harry, I wouldn't have found love as well as I might not even exist in the first place since who knows if my mother would have even hooked up with Ace in the first place.
I moved on from the throne room finding one of the bedrooms and figured I should get out of this ridiculous dress and started going through the closets trying to find something that was more appropriate especially since my dress was filthy from transpiring through that maze and falling down the hole so I started sorting through the many ridiculous dresses which were all red and I gathered this was one of my mother's seemingly many closets but I eventually stumbled on a black dress and grabbed it changing into it.
It was a tad long so I found some scissors and decided to shorten it glad that I had some experience in upcycling clothes and made this dress work for what I needed right now and smiled when I found a different pair of black boot heels instead of these the red stiletto's I was currently wearing and changed into them as well before I decided to leave the castle in order to find someone who can help me but I quickly gathered that my mothers old castle had been in the middle of nowhere and despite walking for hours I haven't seen a single person and I was seriously starting to think that this is nothing but a nightmare since I should have come across someone by now.
The leafless trees and grey dirt was getting awfully depressing after a while so the moment that I finally came across trees which had actual leaves on them seemed like such a breath of fresh air which was ironic considering the Isle used to be the same and you'd think I'd be more used to dead trees than ones with leaves but I felt like I was finally getting somewhere, I took note of the pink flowers on all the trees since I'd never seen trees quite like them before as all the trees in Auradon that I'd seen all had green leaves but I couldn't fault that they were beautiful.
"Halt!" I jumped suddenly surrounded by guards with armor that looked like chess pieces.
"Whoa, look I'm unarmed!" I exclaimed holding up my hands when they all pointed lances at me.
"Who are you?" I heard one of them ask me.
"My names Lizzie and I swear I'm not here to cause trouble I'm just lost" I saw them all look at each other before whispers broke out and I heard things like 'Red Queen' 'Daughter' and I realised they'd figured out who I was which probably wasn't as had to guess with my red streaks through my hair and my outfit.
"Come with us" one of them told me and I nodded figuring it was better to just listen so I followed them and my eyes widened when I spotted the huge white castle especially when my mother's words came back, most of them filled with venom especially with the occupant on this castle 'The White Queen'
They walked me up towards the castle where a group of people were walking past the front of the castle and they all stopped at the sight of me and I frowned looking around anxiously since one of these women was The White Queen...my mothers sister which made them my Aunt...an Aunt that I'd never met.
"What's this?" the one in front asked which drew my eyes towards her and my eyes widened when I saw the crown on top of her head, I should have noticed that first since if she had the crown than that meant she was the queen and therefore my Aunt.
"We found her approaching the castle, Your Majesty " one of the guards said and I watched her eyes take me in and I did the same seeing her pale complexion, dark painted lips and her kind eyes as she smiled at me.
"Would you all excuse us for a moment?" she spoke to the people surrounding her and they all nodded with quick bows before departing and I watched as the queen walked towards me. "You have your mothers eyes" she smiled at me but I didn't smile back since I didn't agree with that. "Come" she told me holding out her hands as she walked with grace and I raised my eye since that was a tad dramatic but I found myself following her inside the castle. "Welcome to Marmoreal and of course to Underland"
"Underland?" I asked not familiar with that name and she turned to me. "My mother always called it Wonderland"
"Uh yes that is the unofficial name for our home" she nodded before we stopped in what looked like a kitchen. "Can I offer you something to eat, anything you'd like?" she offered and I frowned considering my mother always said her sister was a selfish and petulant person but I guess I shouldn't have taken anything my mother said literally.
"I'm actually just trying to get home" I argued and she nodded.
"Yes I'd imagine so"
"I fell down a rabbit hole" I added and she smiled.
"That must have been quite the fall" I scoffed since that was an understatement.
"I'm Lizzie by the way, figured you should know my name seeing as your my Aunt"
"I know who you are Ilizabeth" she replied surprising me for the fact she knew my full name, that she'd known of me. "Forgive me but I have awaited this day for many years, to meet my niece"
"Really because I haven't seen you in my neck of the woods at all for the last 18 years of my life" I spat a little harsher than I probably should have been but I was bitter looking around at all this since she had no idea what I've been through.
"On the contrary Ilizabeth, it was not my decision to leave you with my sister for all these years" I frowned confused with that knowledge. "I cannot begin to understand what you've been through"
"No you can't" I spat deciding to continue to be a bitch. "My mother put me through hell, I was her own personal slave...a prisoner within a prison!"
"I'm sorry Ilizabeth"
"It's Lizzie, the only one who calls me that is my mother"
"I'm sorry" she apologized again and I rolled my eyes since she really was too polite for her own good.
"Look is there just any way to contact Auradon, I have to get back I have...someone who is no doubt looking for me" I told her and I saw her eyes fall to the necklace around my neck, my hooked heart that I never went a day without wearing before they fell down even further to where I was anxiously twirling my engagement ring around on my finger.
"I can contact a friend, she has a daughter who might be able to contact your friend" I nodded in thanks sighing in relief since I was worried about Harry and knew he'd be beside himself by now. "I'll have someone show you to the facilities and you can get a good nights sleep"
"Thank you but I just really need to get home" she nodded before leaving with a someone coming in to show me to a room which I did accept figuring I could clean up considering my face and arms were covered in dirt from that rabbit hole trusting that my Aunt was too much of a goody two shoe not to come through for me.
I frowned entering the room I'd been shown to, it was completely white just like everything in this castle and it was seriously starting to burn my eyes with our white and bright everything was in this place and that was surprising considering I'd thought I'd gotten used to the brightness that was the sun but this was brighter.
I found the bathroom through a set of doors and immediately climbed into the shower to wash off all the dirt and minor cuts from walking through that maze and pricking myself the vines and thorns as I'd made my way through it flinching a little as the hot water ran over my cuts but it felt good too to soothe my aching muscles from falling all that height.
When I got out I was surprised to find clothes laying on the bed and at first I frowned at the white fabric as I lifted it up revealing a short dress that was definitely barf inducing with it's burning white effect but I guess it was better than the filthy old clothes I'd gotten from my mother's castle so I put it on finding that my clothes had been removed and there was a matching pair of heels which I regrettably put on before sliding my jewelry back on since that was the only thing whoever had brought the clothes in left and for their sake they're luck that they had left my necklace since it was the one Harry had gotten me and I would have had a fit if they took it, just as I was finished getting dressed I heard a knock on the door.
"Uh...come in, I guess" I called out seeing as this wasn't really my room but the door opened and in walked my Aunt is her dramatic arms out fashion, seriously this woman was way too posh and...good, she radiated pure untainted angel like the white clothes she wore.
"You look...amazing"
"Thanks I guess, it's a little too...clean for my tastes but thank you for the fresh clothes anyway"
"Your quite welcome" she smiled before looking me over and I felt like I was being assessed.
"Not to be rude but did you get in touch with your friend"
"I have sent a friend to pass on the message" she smiled and I frowned before I had a memory of the whole Wonderland story told from my mother.
"The White Rabbit?" I asked and she nodded, great I could be stuck here for the night.
"Are you hungry, I've had a spread prepared in your honor"
"Oh uh..." I was about to refuse but I saw the kind smile she was giving me and I guess if I had to wait then I could at least get something to eat since I was hungry, it didn't mean I had to bond with her. "Sure"
"This way" she glided out of the room making me roll my eyes at the way she walked before I followed her as she lead me through her castle which was still very much blinding with the way everything was white and when we reached the dining hall my eyes widened at all the food since I'd never seen so much in my entire life and none of it was rotten. "Please eat as much as you'd like, it's all for you" I raised an eye in question to that but didn't protest as I went over and picked up a few grapes stuffing my face immediately.
While things were better with us all in Auradon we now had to be honest and pay for our stuff including food to stock the ships hull and that mainly was just apples, grain and bait for the crew to catch fish which I avoided as I hated seafood which meant my meals were very limited these days, not that I was complaining as it was okay for the situation but all this fresh fruit and actual meat was appealing and I wasn't letting it go to waste probably seeming uncivilized to my Aunt but I could care less.
"So tell me about your friend?" she asked and I looked up as we were sitting on either ends of the table from each other, her plate barely having any food on it while mine was pilled high with different breads, cakes and meats.
"You'd have to be more specific as I have multiple friends" I spat a bit bitterly since she was insinuating that I only have one friend.
"I apologize, the...someone that you reference to earlier, the one you wanted me to get into contact with"
"He's..." I hesitated not sure if I should tell her anything but I guess it couldn't hurt if it meant she might be able to get into contact with Harry quicker. "My fiancé" I watched as he eyes widened a little before her composure was back.
"Congratulations, is it recent?"
"Recent enough" I replied keeping my reply's curt.
"Do you mind if I ask his name?" she asked and I hesitated again, not sure why but I just didn't see why it mattered to her.
"Harry" I shrugged figuring that was enough but I saw her watching, waiting for more. "Son of Captain Hook" I added and again saw surprise slip across her face before she composed it again.
"Well from what I've heard of the pirate captain, he must be quite handsome to have caught your eye" she smiled and I couldn't help lift the corner of my lip into a small smile myself and nod my head.
"He is, he's...everything to me" I decided to say as I anxiously started twisting my ring around on my finger just thinking about the fact that we're separated between worlds as it's the furthest I've ever been and felt from Harry in my entire life.
"Well he must be very special, I look forward to meeting him one day" she replied and just like that the smile fell from my lips as I looked up at her. "Of course that's totally up to you, I know I cannot begin to enter your life without your consent" I frowned lowering my head once again since her good nature made it hard to hate her especially given she's taken me in when she could have turned me away.
"Perhaps one day" I nodded twisting my ring around again, it's a nervous habit I'd picked up since Harry purposed, I found myself always playing with it when I was nervous or anxious.
"I apologize for asking this but can you tell me how my sister is?" she asked and I looked up surprised by her question as I could tell that she actually seemed to care. "I know what you must be thinking but she's my sister" I frowned hesitating before shaking my head.
"She's a tyrant, she's absolutely mad and above all she's a horrible mother, what more do you want me to tell you because I have 19 years' worth of stories of her ordering her goons to beat me until I'm unconscious, starving me for weeks, denying me not one ounce of love from anyone until I finally had the nerve and strength to stand up against her, with the cost of my own neck to do so" I saw her eyes drop to where I wore my scar proudly, it rarely fazed me these days because it showed that I had survived my mother's iron fist. "Thank you for the meal but I think I'll be going" I stood up, the chair making an awful screeching noise as it moved backwards on the white tiles before I started walking towards the door.
"Ilizabeth-" I turned back to her with a sharp glare. "Lizzie, sorry...please stay the night it's awfully late and I'm sure my friend will be back with news that he was able to reach your friend in Auradon, your welcome to stay in the room you were showed to" I frowned but nodded since really I'd only be walking around and sleeping on the ground but I didn't say anything more to her as I walked out and went back to the room I was shown too and decided to sleep figuring the sooner morning came, the sooner I can get out of this hell.
A/N: This is my Descendants adventure in Wonderland, found myself able to find a story with the end of the Royal Wedding short so this story will continue as much as I find inspiration to continue Lizzie's story in the Disney Descendants world.
