Lizzie's POV
The next morning I woke up to a lot of chatter and noise in the castle and once again found a pure white outfit waiting once I exited the bathroom from my shower, I really needed to speak with my Aunt about all this white clothing since it was beginning to burn my eyes but I put on the white dress which fell to just above my knees, the white denim jacket and the heels before putting my jewelry back on holding my necklace in my hand a little longer before I left my room to find my Aunt so that I can organize my tour of the kingdom and found her in what appeared to be a very large ballroom which was being set up for what I could only assume was the ball she'd mentioned yesterday and I stared at all the white with distaste...did these people honestly not use any other color.
"Ilizabeth, what do you think?" she asked as soon as she noticed me enter the room.
"It's all so...white" I replied looking down.
"Do you not like it?" she asked clearly seeing the nose scrunch I did at the clean and crisp white decorations.
"It's nice but could we not add...I don't know a bit of red or black" I argued and I saw her look as her eyes found the red heart bracelet I had managed to hold onto this entire time. "I know white is this castles theme but red is kind of my signature color and I was wondering if I can maybe get some new clothes in a color other than white as well"
"Yes...I'm sorry I should have spoken to the tailors about that but they're just so used to white being this castles dress theme, of course I'll get some other colors into your wardrobe" she smiled kindly at me and I smiled at that thought since it was about damn time. "And the decorations should of course be a signature of our future princess so if it is red you want, James...a dash of red in the room if you will, search all the kingdom if you need to...it needs to be perfection" she called out to one of the servants who bowed in acknowledgement before leaving the room to fulfil her request. "Now, come with me" she started walking out of the room in her signature way and I had to jog to catch up with her. "There are a few things I must teach you in order for you to become a part of the royal society"
"Like what?" I questioned hesitantly since really I just wanted to do this tour, find the outlands and get Ace's heart so that I can get the hell out of here...hopefully before this ball and my coronation.
"Well...proper table etiquette, dancing, politics...just a few to start with"
"Start?" I asked with wide eyes since that was a lot.
"I know it's a lot to take in but you are a princess and will need to behave as such" I glared at that very sentence as it's exactly what my mother would say in my childhood.
"I'm sure I'd manage, my mother did intend for me to take over Wonderland in case you forgot so I already know what fork to use at the table, I know how to waltz and as for behaving like a princess...I know I'd rather do anything but seeing as I've always been more pirate than princess but I know how to be poised and proper when appropriate as even a pirate has honor" I snapped a little harshly but she was talking like I was a neanderthal and didn't know anything about the royal lifestyle.
"I'm sorry, I know my sister must have raised you to follow in the royal ways" I nodded crossing my arms annoyed. "I just-"
"I know, you meant well Aunty" I cut her off since I just really didn't want to hear her pointless apologies and saw her eyes widen and I knew it was because I called her Aunt to her face for the first time but it was just another way to get her to trust that this was real.
"Yes, thank you for understanding" she smiled at me. "Now, something I must teach you...how to enter a room with a crown on your head" she waved someone over and I turned seeing Jefferson walk in carrying the tiara that she'd shown me on a white pillow. "May I?" she asked and I sighed hesitating for a second before I nodded watching as she picked it up carefully and gracefully before sliding it into my hair and I immediately froze at the weight it added to my head. "Have a look my dear" she gestured to a mirror and I approached it slowly freezing even more at my reflection since I barely recognized the girl looking back at me...it definitely wasn't me but I had to admit the crown looked good and at least suited my signature style with its red heart cut diamond in the center. "What do you think?"
"I look...different" I admitted honestly turning to face them.
"You look beautiful" my Aunt corrected and I couldn't help smiling for real looking back briefly at myself before nodding. "Now how about that tour" my smile widened since about damn time.
-*Time Skip*-
The tour was slow and a bit disappointing to say the least since I was in a white carriage with my Aunt, her guards and Jefferson as we began slow touring through the villages and small towns that made up the kingdom of Underland and it was really strange especially with nearly everyone looking at me with strange glances and whispers as we passed and I heard 'Red Queen' quite often which only served to remind me that this wasn't real and that they never really would trust me which is why I don't know what my Aunt was pushing me to take over.
It was a few hours later when we'd stopped in a heavy wooded area did we stop for lunch and they told me it was the Tulgey Woods and I mainly remained silent during lunch and tea plotting my next course since this wasn't working out like I'd planned as I hadn't seen anything that would pinpoint where I needed to get to.
"Is everything alright, you've been very quiet?" Jefferson suddenly asked once I'd stepped away for a little bit of air.
"Of course, it's just...hard"
"Not what one expected" he asked and I frowned nodding my head.
"How come we haven't gone near my mothers castle?" I questioned since I'd noticed that part of Wonderland was near abandoned.
"We don't go there, dangerous...cursed" he shook his head which made me frown.
"What about what lies beyond her castle, surely you go there"
"That is the badlands, even worse...only the dreary souls enter that place" he said and my eyes widened since that's where the badlands were...that's where I needed to go.
"Arent I supposed to be seeing all of Underland?" I questioned him as we walked back to the lunch set up.
"Yes, yes...all in time but we're terribly late now" he rattled and I sighed as we finished with lunch and was returning to the White Castle as my Aunt said that was enough for the day but really it had already served its purpose and I knew where the badlands were, the problem now was figuring out how I was getting there since I knew it was a lot further than my mother's castle and I couldn't possibly walk all that way.
I managed to avoid the preparations once we arrived back at the castle by lying to my Aunt saying I wanted to take a nap that the trip had exhausted me but instead of going to my room I left the castle and went in search of something I could use as transportation, the carriage was pulled by horses so there had to be a stables or another mode of transportation around here somewhere.
"So sneaky, naughty" I jumped spinning around once again to Jefferson behind me.
"I'm not doing anything" I lied.
"Bed, bed, bed...you said you were sleepy, yet here you stand sneaking around...that's very naughty you know" I scoffed unable to help a small laugh.
"I'm a villain kid, can't help old habits...I got a second wind, thought I could tour the grounds more"
"You lie, you lie" he sang and my eyes widened looking around thankful that no one was around. "You ask about the badlands, you wish to go there...for a heart, the heart of your father" he said and my head snapped back towards him since how the hell did he know.
"What...no I'm not, I didn't..." I trialed off stumped on what to say. "Please you can't tell anyone"
"This will not end well, your father cannot be trusted" he warned me and I frowned since I kind of already knew that but I had to do this.
"I know but I have to do this, I have to find it...he needs it" I argued and he frowned before turning around towards the castle.
"Then off we shall go but I must warn you be cautious" he said turning back to me and removed his top hat from his head making me frown confused.
"Why is the badlands dangerous?" I asked a little scared since this entire place was new to me and I'd heard the stories my mother used to tell of the creatures of this land, Bandersnatch's, Jub-Jub birds...the Jabberwocky which was thankfully slain by Alice but who knew if there weren't more.
"Not to us" he smirked before he threw his hat to the ground. "I'd step back princess" I frowned confused until I saw his hat beginning to spin and my eyes widened.
"It's a portal hat!" I exclaimed in shock since this whole time he'd had a way out of wonderland. "You couldve taken me home!"
"It doesn't work outside Wonderland, not anymore" he argued and my hope deflated. "Hold on" he told me when the hole the portal created was big enough and I grabbed his hand and we jumped down into it landing on a black stone floor and the walls were surrounded by curtains.
"Whoa" I said looking around since this is probably one of the coolest things I had ever seen. "This is amazing!"
"Yes it is" he smiled before heading towards the only thing that wasn't covered by curtains. "This is the door" it looked like a looking glass. "Think of where you want to go, what you want to achieve" he told me and I closed my eyes thinking of the badlands but it was hard when I didn't know what it looked like so I thought about Ace and his heart before I stepped through with Jefferson beside me and I opened my eyes finding myself in a room which looked entirely made up of red branches and thorns.
"Okay"
"Your mothers chambers are at the top of the stairs, if your fathers hearts anywhere it's there" he told me and I turned since he appeared totally madness free right now and I wondered how he did it but now wasn't the time.
"Thank you" I said then ran up the stairs to the very top before going through a set of double doors finding myself in a bedroom which seemed...haunted.
My eyes narrowed at it knowing that this is where my mother was banished before being banished to the Isle and I guess I sort of could sympathize with her being trapped here but quickly pushed that thought away as I began tearing through the room checking all the cardboards and drawers but was finding nothing.
"Come on, where is it?" I asked looking around the room again before my eyes settled on the bed head which was a thorny mess shaped into a heart but in the very center it seemed to be glowing so I cautiously approached it knowing better than to act foolishly and too eager as my mother liked to protect her precious things. "Please be it" I begged as I touched it and heard something click before a small cut out door sprung open and inside was a small square box which I grabbed and sat back letting out a deep breath before I opened the lid and my eyes widened at the glowing red heart which was still beating. "Holy shit"
I smiled at it since it was amazing and although one had to use dark magic to remove a heart it really was kind of cool, I closed the lid holding it in my hands as I ran back downstairs finding Jefferson still waiting for me and I smiled at him.
"Find it, I see" he pointed out.
"Yes, thank you"
"Your quite welcome" he grabbed his hat and spun it which opened the portal again and we jumped through together once again going through the looking glass door which was the only one that was open it seemed and I understood what he meant that his hat only works for traversing Wonderland now and I pictured the white queens castle since there was still things I had to do before I went back to Ace and returned his heart. "I owe you a favor one of these days Hatter" I nodded at him since without him I never would have found it.
"It was my pleasure, your naughtiness"
"I quite like that tittle" I laughed watching him smile before he bowed and left and I looked down at the box again since it was so surreal that I was actually holding a heart before I returned to my room as it was too late to go to my mother's castle now without my presence being missed so I hid the heart for now and pretended to help out my Aunt with the preparations, tomorrow I would return the heart.
Harry's POV
It was absolute torture as we all stood in the museum of cultural history with the Fairy Godmother taking an endless amount of time to inspect the looking glass which looked like an overgrown mirror to me but it was hopefully my ticket to Wonderland and to Lizzie but it was taking way too long, she'd been gone nearly an entire week and I was worried what I was going to find once I finally got there.
"Fairy Godmother, is it possible to use?" the king asked her after what seemed like hours of her looking at the mirror and using her wand to do god knows what to it.
"It's magic is very weak, I fear it won't be enough to transport us all to Wonderland" she replied and the atmosphere around us deflated with the news but I stared at my reflection seeing the dark circles under me eyes that wasn't from the soot I usually used around them, I have barely slept a wink since Liza went missing.
"What about a single person?" I asked speaking up and everyone turned towards me almost shocked by the sound of my voice as I've barely spoken these past few days as we figured out if this would work.
"It could be possible but it's hard to say, it would be too risky-"
"I'm willing to risk it" I argued cutting her off.
"Harry think about it" Uma protested.
"You think I 'aven't, all I think about is getting to Lizzie and I have to because I cannot bare the thought of being apart another day"
"It might get you there but you might not be able to come back" the king argued and I frowned looking at the mirror again since I could get stuck in Wonderland but at least I'll be with Liza.
"I don't care"
"Okay" Ben nodded.
"Ben, we can't risk that" Mal argued.
"It's his choice Mal, I'd do it for you" he told her and I nodded me head, for once the king and I had familiar ground. "Everyone stand back" he warned and they all stepped back.
"Uh...how do I do this?" I asked since no one really explained how this was supposed to take me to wonderland.
"Think about where you want to go, who you want to see" the Fairy Godmother explained "Then step through"
"Be careful brother" Harriet warned me and I nodded my head looking at my family before I closed me eyes and thought about Lizzie since I didn't know what Wonderland even looked like never having been there or heard anyone talk about specifics of the place I knew brought nightmares to my fiancé.
"Go get her Harry" Uma said and I smiled nodding my head.
When I was sure I had a solid image of in me head and was thinking about the place in general I stepped forward with my hand out just in case it didn't work I'd feel the solid glass of the mirror but it never came and I felt like I'd walked through water and once that feeling was gone I opened my eyes and stared startled at the desolate field of nothing but a castle lied in the distance giving me a starting line for the race to find my Liza.
